ਭੁਜ ਬਲ ਬੀਰ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਗਰਤ ਪਰਤ ਗਹਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਅੰਗੁਰੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bhuj bal beer barahm sukh saagar garat parat geh layho anguree-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ my almighty God, the ocean of peace, save me from falling into the ditch of sins. ||1||pause||
ਹੇ ਬਲੀ ਬਾਹਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ, ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਸੂਰਮੇ!ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਟੋਏ ਵਿਚ ਡਿਗਦੇ ਦੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਉਂਗਲੀ ਫੜ ਲੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸ੍ਰਵਨਿ ਨ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਨੈਨ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਨਹੀ ਆਰਤ ਦੁਆਰਿ ਰਟਤ ਪਿੰਗੁਰੀਆ ॥੧॥
sarvan na surat nain sundar nahee aarat du-aar ratat pinguree-aa. ||1||
My ears are not capable to listen to Your praises and my eyes are not wise enough to visualize You everywhere; like a cripple in pain, I am crying at Your doorstep. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਕੰਨ ਵਿਚ (ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ) ਸੁਣਨ (ਦੀ ਸੂਝ) ਨਹੀਂ, ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਅਜੇਹੀਆਂ ਸੋਹਣੀਆਂ ਨਹੀਂ (ਕਿ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ), ਮੈਂ ਪਿੰਗਲਾ ਹੋ ਚੁਕਾ ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਦੁੱਖੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਦੀਨਾ ਨਾਥ ਅਨਾਥ ਕਰੁਣਾ ਮੈ ਸਾਜਨ ਮੀਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਮਹਤਰੀਆ ॥
deenaa naath anaath karunaa mai saajan meet pitaa mahatree-aa.
O’ the Master of the meek and helpless, the merciful friend, the father and the mother,
ਹੇ ਗਰੀਬਾਂ ਦੇ ਖਸਮ! ਹੇ ਯਤੀਮਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਤਰਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਸੱਜਣ! ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!
ਚਰਨ ਕਵਲ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਗਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਭੈ ਸਾਗਰ ਸੰਤ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਰੀਆ ॥੨॥੨॥੧੧੫॥
charan kaval hirdai geh naanak bhai saagar sant paar utree-aa. ||2||2||115||
O’ Nanak, by meditating on Your Name, Your saints cross over the dreadful worldly ocean of vices. ||2||2||115||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਦੇ ਹਨ, ॥੨॥੨॥੧੧੫॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਦਯ ਗੁਸਾਈ ਮੀਤੁਲਾ ਤੂੰ ਸੰਗਿ ਹਮਾਰੈ ਬਾਸੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
da-y gusaa-ee meetulaa tooN sang hamaarai baas jee-o. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ dear God and my best friend, please always stay in my conscience. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਤਰਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਖਸਮ! ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈਂ, ਸਦਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਰਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਘਰੀ ਨ ਜੀਵਨਾ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਰਹਣਾ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥
tujh bin gharee na jeevnaa Dharig rahnaa sansaar.
O’ God, without You I cannot spiritually survive even for a moment and without that, the life in the world is accursed.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਇਕ ਘੜੀ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਤੇ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਫਿਟਕਾਰ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈ।
ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਿਆ ਨਿਮਖ ਨਿਮਖ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਿ ਜੀ ॥੧॥
jee-a paraan sukh-daati-aa nimakh nimakh balihaar jee. ||1||
O’ the bestower of peace and benefactor of life, I dedicate myself to You at each and every moment.||1||
ਹੇ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਨਿਮਖ ਨਿਮਖ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਹਸਤ ਅਲੰਬਨੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗਰਤਹੁ ਉਧਰੁ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥
hasat alamban dayh parabh gartahu uDhar gopaal.
O’ God, please help me out of the ditch of vices.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਦੇਹ। ਹੇ ਗੋਪਾਲ! ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ) ਟੋਏ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੱਢ ਲੈ।
ਮੋਹਿ ਨਿਰਗੁਨ ਮਤਿ ਥੋਰੀਆ ਤੂੰ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ॥੨॥
mohi nirgun mat thoree-aa tooN sad hee deen da-i-aal. ||2||
O’ God, I have no virtues and my intellect is very shallow; You are always merciful to the meek. ||2||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਣ ਹਾਂ, ਮੇਰੀ ਮਤਿ ਹੋਛੀ ਹੈ। ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਗਰੀਬਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੨॥
ਕਿਆ ਸੁਖ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਮਲਾ ਕਵਨ ਬਿਧੀ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥
ki-aa sukh tayray sammlaa kavan biDhee beechaar.
O’ God, how many of Your blessings can I count and how can I reflect on them all?
ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ (ਦਿਤੇ ਹੋਏ) ਕੇਹੜੇ ਕੇਹੜੇ ਸੁਖ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਕਿਹੜੇ ਕਿਹੜੇ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਰੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਾਂ?
ਸਰਣਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਦਾਸ ਹਿਤ ਊਚੇ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰ ॥੩॥
saran samaa-ee daas hit oochay agam apaar. ||3||
O’ highest of the high, lover of Your devotees, incomprehensible and the infinite God, please keep me in You refuge.||3||
ਹੇ ਉੱਚੇ! ਹੇ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ! ਹੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ !ਹੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਤੂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਰਨ ਆਏ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ॥੩॥
ਸਗਲ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਅਸਟ ਸਿਧਿ ਨਾਮ ਮਹਾ ਰਸ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
sagal padaarath asat siDh naam mahaa ras maahi.
All the worldly wealth and the eight miraculous powers are in the supremely sublime essence of Naam.
ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ (ਜੋਗੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ) ਅੱਠੇ ਸਿੱਧੀਆਂ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਰਸ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹਨ।
ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਭਏ ਕੇਸਵਾ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਹਿ ॥੪॥
suparsan bha-ay kaysvaa say jan har gun gaahi. ||4||
They sing His praises upon whom the beautifully-haired God is highly pleased.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਲੰਮੇ ਕੇਸਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥
ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੁਤ ਬੰਧਪੋ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਅਧਾਰ ॥
maat pitaa sut banDhpo tooN mayray paraan aDhaar.
O’ God, You are my mother, my father, my son, and my relative; you are the support of my life-breath.
(ਹੇ ਦਯ! ਹੇ ਗੋਸਾਈਂ!) ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮਾਂ, ਪਿਉ, ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰ (ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਮੇਰਾ) ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਤੂੰ ਹੈਂ।
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਭਜੈ ਬਿਖੁ ਤਰਿਆ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥੫॥੧॥੧੧੬॥
saaDhsang naanak bhajai bikh tari-aa sansaar. ||5||1||116||
In the holy congregation Nanak meditates on Naam and swims across the poisonous world-ocean of vices. ||5||1||116||
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਤੇ ਇੰਜ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਜ਼ਹਰ-ਭਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੫॥੧॥੧੧੬॥
ਗਉੜੀ ਬੈਰਾਗਣਿ ਰਹੋਏ ਕੇ ਛੰਤ ਕੇ ਘਰਿ ਮਃ ੫

ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹੈ ਕੋਈ ਰਾਮ ਪਿਆਰੋ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
hai ko-ee raam pi-aaro gaavai.
Only a rare lover of God sings His praises.
ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਰਬ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਸੂਖ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sarab kali-aan sookh sach paavai. rahaa-o.
Such a person realizes God, obtains bliss and comforts. ||pause||
ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।ਰਹਾਉ
ਬਨੁ ਬਨੁ ਖੋਜਤ ਫਿਰਤ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ॥
ban ban khojat firat bairaagee.
The renunciate goes out into the woods, searching for Him.
ਤਿਆਗੀ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੰਗਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਢੁੰਡਣ ਲਈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਰਲੇ ਕਾਹੂ ਏਕ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
birlay kaahoo ayk liv laagee.
It is only a rare one who is attuned to the one God.
ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਲਗਨ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ॥੧॥
jin har paa-i-aa say vadbhaagee. ||1||
Those who have realized God are fortunate and blessed. ||1||
ਜਿਸ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾਦਿਕ ਸਨਕਾਦਿਕ ਚਾਹੈ ॥
barahmaadik sankaadik chaahai.
The angels like Brahma and his sons like Sanak yearn for God and
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਵੱਡੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ, ਸਨਕ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਭਰਾ ਸਨੰਦਨ ਸਨਾਤਨ ਸਨਤ ਕੁਮਾਰ-ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਮਿਲਾਪ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੋਗੀ ਜਤੀ ਸਿਧ ਹਰਿ ਆਹੈ ॥
jogee jatee siDh har aahai.
so do the yogis, ascetics and the celibates.
ਜੋਗੀ ਜਤੀ ਸਿੱਧ-ਹਰੇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਦੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਹੈ ॥੨॥
jisahi paraapat so har gun gaahai. ||2||
One who is so blessed, sings the Praises of God. ||2||
(ਪਰ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਧੁਰੋਂ) ਇਹ ਦਾਤ ਮਿਲੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਜਿਨ ਬਿਸਰਤ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
taa kee saran jin bisrat naahee.
I seek the refuge of those who do not forget God.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਈਏ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਕਦੇ ਭੁੱਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲਾਹੀ ॥
vadbhaagee har sant milaahee.
By great good fortune, one meets the saints of God.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੀ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਤਿਹ ਮੂਲੇ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੩॥
janam maran tih moolay naahee. ||3||
The saints are never subject to the cycle of birth and death. ||3||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਆਪਦੇ ॥੩॥
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮਿਲੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
kar kirpaa mil pareetam pi-aaray.
O’ my beloved God, show mercy and let me unite with You.
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਤੇ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਮਿਲ।
ਬਿਨਉ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਊਚ ਅਪਾਰੇ ॥
bin-o sunhu parabh ooch apaaray.
O’ supreme and Infinite God, please listen to my prayer.
ਹੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੇ ਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੇਰੀ ਇਹ) ਬੇਨਤੀ ਸੁਣ।
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮਾਂਗਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੇ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੧੭॥
naanak maaNgat naam aDhaaray. ||4||1||117||
Nanak begs for Naam, the support of life. ||4||1||117||
ਨਾਨਕ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੧੭॥
