ਅਉਖਧ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਤੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਛਾਰੁ ॥
a-ukhaDh mantar tant sabh chhaar.
In comparison to Naam, all medicines, spells and charms are as useless as dust.
ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਟਾਕਰੇ ਤੇ ਹੋਰ) ਸਾਰੇ ਦਾਰੂ ਸਾਰੇ ਮੰਤਰ ਤੇ ਟੂਣੇ ਤੁੱਛ ਹਨ।
ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰੁ ਰਿਦੇ ਮਹਿ ਧਾਰੁ ॥੩॥
karnaihaar riday meh Dhaar. ||3||
Enshrine the Creator God within your heart. ||3||
ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖ
ਤਜਿ ਸਭਿ ਭਰਮ ਭਜਿਓ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ॥
taj sabh bharam bhaji-o paarbarahm.
Renouncing all other doubts, one who has meditated on God,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਭਰਮ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ,
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਟਲ ਇਹੁ ਧਰਮੁ ॥੪॥੮੦॥੧੪੯॥
kaho naanak atal ih Dharam. ||4||80||149||
has realized that this alone is the eternal righteous deed, says Nanak. ||4||80||149||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- (ਉਸ ਨੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਭਜਨ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ) ਧਰਮ ਐਸਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕਦੇ ਫਲ ਦੇਣੋਂ ਉਕਾਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਾਂਦਾ

Raag Gauree, Fifth Guru:
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਭੇਟੇ ਗੁਰ ਸੋਈ ॥
kar kirpaa bhaytay gur so-ee.
O’ my friends, that person alone seeks the guidance of the Guru upon whom God becomes gracious.
(ਪਰ ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਿਤੁ ਬਲਿ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਕੋਈ ॥੧॥
tit bal rog na bi-aapai ko-ee. ||1||
By virtue of the power of Guru’s blessings, no malady afflicts that person.||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਬਲ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਬਲ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਕੋਈ ਰੋਗ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ
ਰਾਮ ਰਮਣ ਤਰਣ ਭੈ ਸਾਗਰ ॥
raam raman taran bhai saagar.
By meditating on God’s Name, we cross over the dreadful worldly-ocean of vices.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਰਣਿ ਸੂਰ ਫਾਰੇ ਜਮ ਕਾਗਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saran soor faaray jam kaagar. ||1|| rahaa-o.
When we seek the shelter of the brave Guru, then even the demon of death tears away the account of our deeds. ||1||Pause||
ਸੂਰਮੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਜਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਲੇਖੇ ਪਾੜੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਦੀਓ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ॥
satgur mantar dee-o har naam.
O’ my friends, whom the true Guru has given the mantra of God’s Name,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
ਇਹ ਆਸਰ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਏ ਕਾਮ ॥੨॥
ih aasar pooran bha-ay kaam. ||2||
on the support of this (mantra) that person’s tasks are accomplished.||2||
ਇਸ ਨਾਮ-ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ
ਜਪ ਤਪ ਸੰਜਮ ਪੂਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
jap tap sanjam pooree vadi-aa-ee.
The full honor of all kinds of worships, penances, and austerities were received by the one,
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਪਾਂ ਦੀ, ਸਾਰੇ ਤਪਾਂ ਦੀ, ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਜਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ,
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਹਰਿ ਭਏ ਸਹਾਈ ॥੩॥
gur kirpaal har bha-ay sahaa-ee. ||3||
on whom the Guru became kind, and God became his supporter.||3||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਹੋਏ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਬਣ ਗਏ,
ਮਾਨ ਮੋਹ ਖੋਏ ਗੁਰਿ ਭਰਮ ॥
maan moh kho-ay gur bharam.
The person whose ego, attachment, and doubts are dispelled by the Guru,
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਮੋਹ ਆਦਿਕ ਭਰਮ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ
ਪੇਖੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਸਰੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ॥੪॥੮੧॥੧੫੦॥
paykh naanak pasray paarbarahm. ||4||81||150||
O’ Nanak, he beholds the Supreme God pervading everywhere. ||4||81||150|
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ!ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਦਿੱਸ ਪਏ,
ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Raag Gauree, Fifth Guru:
ਬਿਖੈ ਰਾਜ ਤੇ ਅੰਧੁਲਾ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
bikhai raaj tay anDhulaa bhaaree.
Under the influence of vicious addictions, one becomes spiritually blind in evil pursuits.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਦੁਖਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਚਿਤਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
dukh laagai raam naam chitaaree. ||1||
When he is afflicted with some malady, then he remembers God’s Name. ||1||
ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ) ਦੁੱਖ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਤੁਹੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
tayray daas ka-o tuhee vadi-aa-ee.
O’ God, You are the glory of Your devotee.
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ ਦੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ (ਲੋਕ-ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਹੈ।
ਮਾਇਆ ਮਗਨੁ ਨਰਕਿ ਲੈ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
maa-i-aa magan narak lai jaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Engrossment in worldly wealth and affairs drags a person into misery. ||1||Pause||
ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ) ਨਰਕ ਵਿਚ ਲੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਸਦਾ ਦੁਖੀ ਰੱਖਦੀ ਹੈ l
ਰੋਗ ਗਿਰਸਤ ਚਿਤਾਰੇ ਨਾਉ ॥
rog girsat chitaaray naa-o.
Gripped by disease, the mortal remembers the Name of God,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਰੋਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਘਿਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਬਿਖੁ ਮਾਤੇ ਕਾ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਠਾਉ ॥੨॥
bikh maatay kaa tha-ur na thaa-o. ||2||
The one who is engrossed in the poison of vices has no spiritual standing. ||2||
ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਕਿਤੇ ਨਾਮ-ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਦਾ,
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥
charan kamal si-o laagee pareet.
A person who is attuned to the loving adoration of God’s immaculate Name,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ) ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਆਨ ਸੁਖਾ ਨਹੀ ਆਵਹਿ ਚੀਤਿ ॥੩॥
aan sukhaa nahee aavahi cheet. ||3||
does not think of any other kind of worldly comforts. ||3||
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਸੁਖ ਚੇਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੇ ॥੩॥
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
sadaa sadaa simra-o parabh su-aamee.
O’ my Master-God, I wish to meditate on You forever.
ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ।
ਮਿਲੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥੪॥੮੨॥੧੫੧॥
mil naanak har antarjaamee. ||4||82||151||
O Nanak, merge with God, the Inner-knower of hearts. ||4||82||151||
ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ! ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ! ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਅਭੇਦ ਹੋ।

Raag Gauree, Fifth Guru:
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਸੰਗੀ ਬਟਵਾਰੇ ॥
aath pahar sangee batvaaray.
Twenty-four hours a day, the evil impulses (ego, lust, anger, greed and false attachment), accompany a person like the highway robbers.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਪੰਜੇ ਡਾਕੂ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਸਾਥੀ ਬਣੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਉਤੇ ਡਾਕਾ ਮਾਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਲਏ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
kar kirpaa parabh la-ay nivaaray. ||1||
Showing His mercy, God has driven them away. ||1||
ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਿੱਤਰ ਕਰ ਦਿਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਰਮਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
aisaa har ras ramhu sabh ko-ay.
Everyone should enjoy the elixir of the Name of such a powerful God,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਅਜੇਹੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਮਾਣੋ,
ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sarab kalaa pooran parabh so-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
who is perfect and all powerful.||1||Pause||
ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ
ਮਹਾ ਤਪਤਿ ਸਾਗਰ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥
mahaa tapat saagar sansaar.
This world is like an exceedingly hot ocean of evil passions.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਬੜੀ ਤਪਸ਼ ਪੈ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰਣਹਾਰ ॥੨॥
parabh khin meh paar utaaranhaar. ||2||
God can ferry us across this ocean in an instant,. ||2||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਸੜਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਅਨਿਕ ਬੰਧਨ ਤੋਰੇ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਹਿ ॥
anik banDhan toray nahee jaahi.
The countless worldly bonds can’t be broken by a person’s own efforts.
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਇਹ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਆਦਿਕ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ (ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਜਤਨ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਤੋੜੀਆਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ।
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਮ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਫਲ ਪਾਹਿ ॥੩॥
simrat naam mukat fal paahi. ||3||
But those who lovingly meditate on God’s Name receive the reward of freedom from these worldly bonds.||3||
ਪਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ-ਰੂਪ ਫਲ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਉਕਤਿ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਇਸ ਤੇ ਕਛੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
ukat si-aanap is tay kachh naahi.
The mortal can accomplish nothing through any device or cleverness.
ਇਹ ਬੰਦਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਯੁਕਤੀ ਜਾ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਹਿ ॥੪॥੮੩॥੧੫੨॥
kar kirpaa naanak gun gaahi. ||4||83||152||
Nanak prays, O’ God, please bestow mercy so that mortals may sing Your praises and save themselves from these vices.||4||83||152||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪ) ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ, ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਣ ਤੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਡਾਕੂਆਂ ਦੇ ਪੰਜੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਸਕਣ l

ਥਾਤੀ ਪਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਮ ॥
thaatee paa-ee har ko naam.
O’ my friend, if by God’s Grace you have received the wealth of God’s Name,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਦੀ ਥੈਲੀ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਈ ਹੈ,
ਬਿਚਰੁ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਭਿ ਕਾਮ ॥੧॥
bichar sansaar pooran sabh kaam. ||1||
then you can do your worldly chores without hesitation, all your tasks would be accomplished.||1||
ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਕਾਰ-ਵਿਹਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ (ਨਿਸੰਗ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਤੁਰ ਫਿਰ। ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਿਰੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਜਾਣਗੇ
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
vadbhaagee har keertan gaa-ee-ai.
By great good fortune, the hymn of God’s Praises are sung.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਤੂੰ ਦੇਹਿ ਤ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
paarbarahm tooN deh ta paa-ee-ai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ Supreme God, if You bestow this gift, only then we can sing Your praises.||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਦੇਵੇਂ ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ l
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚਰਣ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
har kay charan hirdai ur Dhaar.
O’ my friend, enshrine God’s immaculate Name in your heart.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਦਿਲ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖ।
ਭਵ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਚੜਿ ਉਤਰਹਿ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੨॥
bhav saagar charh utreh paar. ||2||
By boarding the ship of God’s Name, you would cross over the world-ocean of vices.||2||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨ-ਰੂਪ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਉਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਏਂਗਾ l
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
saaDhoo sang karahu sabh ko-ay.
Everyone should seek the company of the Saint-Guru.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਹਰੇਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਰੋ।
ਸਦਾ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਫਿਰਿ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥
sadaa kali-aan fir dookh na ho-ay. ||3||
There will always be peace; and no sorrow will ever afflict again. ||3||
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਿਹਾਂ) ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਹੀ ਸੁਖ ਹੋਣਗੇ, ਮੁੜ ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕੇਗਾ
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਜੁ ਗੁਣੀ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥
paraym bhagat bhaj gunee niDhaan.
With loving devotion, meditate on God who is the treasure of virtues.
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਭਰੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜਾਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਈਐ ਮਾਨੁ ॥੪॥੮੪॥੧੫੩॥
naanak dargeh paa-ee-ai maan. ||4||84||153||
O Nanak, by doing so we attain honor in God’s court. ||4||84||153||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਆਦਰ-ਮਾਣ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੮੪॥੧੫੩॥
ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Raag Gauree, Fifth Guru:
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਹਰਿ ਮੀਤ ॥
jal thal mahee-al pooran har meet.
Our friend God who is fully pervading in all places-waters, land and sky,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜੇਹੜਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਮਿੱਤਰ ਜਲ ਵਿਚ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ,
ਭ੍ਰਮ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਗਾਏ ਗੁਣ ਨੀਤ ॥੧॥
bharam binsay gaa-ay gun neet. ||1||
by always singing His praises, all doubts are dispelled.||1||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਸਦਾ ਗਾਵਿਆਂ ਸਭ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੇ ਭਟਕਣ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਊਠਤ ਸੋਵਤ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਪਹਰੂਆ ॥
oothat sovat har sang pahroo-aa.
God remains with the mortal at all times, watching over (ike a bodyguard).
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਜਾਗਦਿਆਂ ਸੁੱਤਿਆਂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਾਖਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਣਿ ਜਮ ਨਹੀ ਡਰੂਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jaa kai simran jam nahee daroo-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
By lovindly meditating on Him the fear of death departs. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ
ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਰਿਦੈ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥
charan kamal parabh ridai nivaas.
In whose heart God’s immaculate Name is enshrined,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
