ਬਿਆਪਤ ਹਰਖ ਸੋਗ ਬਿਸਥਾਰ ॥
bi-aapat harakh sog bisthaar.
Maya afflicts some through pain and others through the display of pleasure.
ਮਾਇਆ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਤੇ ਗ਼ਮੀ ਦੇ ਅਡੰਬਰਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਫੈਲੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਆਪਤ ਸੁਰਗ ਨਰਕ ਅਵਤਾਰ ॥
bi-aapat surag narak avtaar.
It torments people through living in the conditions of heaven and hell.
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਅਸਰ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਨਰਕਾਂ ਤੇ ਸੁਰਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਹੁੰਚਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਬਿਆਪਤ ਧਨ ਨਿਰਧਨ ਪੇਖਿ ਸੋਭਾ ॥
bi-aapat Dhan nirDhan paykh sobhaa.
It afflicts the rich, the poor and those who see themselves being honored.
ਮਾਇਆ ਅਮੀਰਾ, ਗਰੀਬਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਪਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਮੂਲੁ ਬਿਆਧੀ ਬਿਆਪਸਿ ਲੋਭਾ ॥੧॥
mool bi-aaDhee bi-aapas lobhaa. ||1||
The root cause of this affliction is greed in one form or another. ||1||
ਕਿਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਗਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਲੋਭ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਪਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਮਾਇਆ ਬਿਆਪਤ ਬਹੁ ਪਰਕਾਰੀ ॥
maa-i-aa bi-aapat baho parkaaree.
Maya torments people in so many ways.
ਮਾਇਆ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਸੰਤ ਜੀਵਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਓਟ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sant jeeveh parabh ot tumaaree. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ God, saints enjoy bliss under Your protection. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਬਿਆਪਤ ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਕਾ ਮਾਤਾ ॥
bi-aapat ahaN-buDh kaa maataa.
Maya torments the one who is intoxicated with self-conceit.
ਇਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚਿਮੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਅੰਹਕਾਰੀ ਅਕਲ ਨਾਲ ਨਸ਼ਈ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਆਪਤ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤ੍ਰ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
bi-aapat putar kaltar sang raataa.
It afflicts the one who is imbued with the love for children and spouse.
ਇਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚਿਮੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਾ ਤੇ ਪਤਨੀ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਆਪਤ ਹਸਤਿ ਘੋੜੇ ਅਰੁ ਬਸਤਾ ॥
bi-aapat hasat ghorhay ar bastaa.
Maya torments some through the possessions such as elephants, horses and beautiful clothes.
ਇਹ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਚਿਮੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਹਾਥੀਆਂ ਘੋੜਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਬਸਤਰਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਗਲਤਾਨ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਆਪਤ ਰੂਪ ਜੋਬਨ ਮਦ ਮਸਤਾ ॥੨॥
bi-aapat roop joban mad mastaa. ||2||
It torments the one intoxicated with beauty and youth. ||2||
ਇਹ ਉਸ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਚਿਮੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਜੁਆਨੀ ਦੇ ਨਸ਼ੇ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਬਿਆਪਤ ਭੂਮਿ ਰੰਕ ਅਰੁ ਰੰਗਾ ॥
bi-aapat bhoom rank ar rangaa.
It torments landlords, paupers and rich revelers.
ਇਹ ਜਮੀਨ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਕੰਗਾਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੌਜ ਬਹਾਰਾ ਮਾਨਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਿਮੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਆਪਤ ਗੀਤ ਨਾਦ ਸੁਣਿ ਸੰਗਾ ॥
bi-aapat geet naad sun sangaa.
It is afflicts those who are listening to songs and music in parties.
ਇਹ ਸਭਾਵਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਾਣੇ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਗ ਦੇ ਸੁਨਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਿਮੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਆਪਤ ਸੇਜ ਮਹਲ ਸੀਗਾਰ ॥
bi-aapat sayj mahal seegaar.
It torments people through beautiful beds, palaces and decorations.
ਇਹ ਪਲੰਘਾ, ਮੰਦਰਾ ਅਤੇ ਹਰ-ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਮੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਬਿਆਪਤ ਅੰਧਿਆਰ ॥੩॥
panch doot bi-aapat anDhi-aar. ||3||
affected Sometimes it effects them through the darkness of the five evil passions. ||3||
ਕਿਤੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਪੰਜੇ ਦੂਤ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਪਾ ਰਹੀ ॥੩॥
ਬਿਆਪਤ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੈ ਹਉ ਫਾਸਾ ॥
bi-aapat karam karai ha-o faasaa.
It torments even the one who acts righteously but is entangled in ego.
ਇਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚਿਮੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਫਸ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਆਪਤਿ ਗਿਰਸਤ ਬਿਆਪਤ ਉਦਾਸਾ ॥
bi-aapat girsat bi-aapat udaasaa.
Maya torments the householder as well as the recluse.
ਮਾਇਆ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਤ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਅਤੇ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਰਮੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ l
ਆਚਾਰ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ਬਿਆਪਤ ਇਹ ਜਾਤਿ ॥
aachaar bi-uhaar bi-aapat ih jaat.
It torments people through pride in character, lifestyle and social status.
ਚਾਲ-ਚਲਣ, ਕਾਰ ਵਿਹਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਤੀ ਦੇ ਮਾਣ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਉਤੇ ਛਾਪਾ ਮਾਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਬਿਆਪਤ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗ ਰਾਤ ॥੪॥
sabh kichh bi-aapat bin har rang raat. ||4||
Maya afflicts when there is lack of love for God ||4||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਮਗਨ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਜੇ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਸੰਤਨ ਕੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟੇ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ॥
santan kay banDhan kaatay har raa-ay.
The sovereign God cuts away the bonds of Maya for the saints.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਕੱਟ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਾ ਕਉ ਕਹਾ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਮਾਇ ॥
taa ka-o kahaa bi-aapai maa-ay.
So, Maya cannot torment them at all.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨਿ ਧੂਰਿ ਸੰਤ ਪਾਈ ॥
kaho naanak jin Dhoor sant paa-ee.
Nanak says, One who has humbly followed the teachings of the Guru,
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਈ ਹੈ,
ਤਾ ਕੈ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਮਾਈ ॥੫॥੧੯॥੮੮॥
taa kai nikat na aavai maa-ee. ||5||19||88||
Maya cannot draw near that person ||5||19||88||
ਮਾਇਆ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁੱਕ ਸਕਦੀ ॥੪॥੧੯॥੮੮॥
ਗਉੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

ਨੈਨਹੁ ਨੀਦ ਪਰ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥
nainhu need par darisat vikaar.
The eyes are unconscious in casting their evil glance on others.
ਪਰਾਏ ਰੂਪ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖਣਾ-ਇਹ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਨੀਂਦ ਆ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਸ੍ਰਵਣ ਸੋਏ ਸੁਣਿ ਨਿੰਦ ਵੀਚਾਰ ॥
sarvan so-ay sun nind veechaar.
The ears are unconscious in listening to slanderous stories.
ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਿਆ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਸੁਣ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਕੰਨ ਸੁੱਤੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਰਸਨਾ ਸੋਈ ਲੋਭਿ ਮੀਠੈ ਸਾਦਿ ॥
rasnaa so-ee lobh meethai saad.
The tongue is unconscious in the desires for sweet flavors.
ਜੀਭ ਖਾਣ ਦੇ ਲੋਭ ਵਿਚ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਿੱਠੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਵਿਚ ਸੁੱਤੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਮਨੁ ਸੋਇਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਬਿਸਮਾਦਿ ॥੧॥
man so-i-aa maa-i-aa bismaad. ||1||
The mind is asleep fascinated by Maya (worldly wealth). ||1||
ਮਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਅਸਚਰਜ ਤਮਾਸ਼ੇ ਵਿਚ ਸੁੱਤਾ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ। ॥੧॥
ਇਸੁ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਮਹਿ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਗਤੁ ਰਹੈ ॥
is garih meh ko-ee jaagat rahai.
Only a rare one is aware of the onslaughts of Maya (worldly attractions).
ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਬਤੁ ਵਸਤੁ ਓਹੁ ਅਪਨੀ ਲਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saabat vasat oh apnee lahai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and keeps his wealth of life intact.||1||Pause||
ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਰਾਸਿ-ਪੂੰਜੀ ਸਾਂਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਗਲ ਸਹੇਲੀ ਅਪਨੈ ਰਸ ਮਾਤੀ ॥
sagal sahaylee apnai ras maatee.
All the sensory organs of the body are busy in enjoying their own pleasures.
ਸਾਰੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰੇ ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਸਕੇ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ.
ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕੀ ਖਬਰਿ ਨ ਜਾਤੀ ॥
garih apunay kee khabar na jaatee.
They do not care to guard their own body against vices.
ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਸੂਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਦੇ।
ਮੁਸਨਹਾਰ ਪੰਚ ਬਟਵਾਰੇ ॥
musanhaar panch batvaaray.
The five plunderers and robbers (lust, anger, greed, attachment and ego),
ਠੱਗਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪੰਜੇ ਡਾਕੂ-
ਸੂਨੇ ਨਗਰਿ ਪਰੇ ਠਗਹਾਰੇ ॥੨॥
soonay nagar paray thag-haaray. ||2||
descend upon the unguarded house (body). ||2||
ਸੁੰਞੇ (ਸਰੀਰ-) ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਹੱਲਾ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਉਨ ਤੇ ਰਾਖੈ ਬਾਪੁ ਨ ਮਾਈ ॥
un tay raakhai baap na maa-ee.
Neither our father nor our mother can save us from these robbers.
ਉਹਨਾਂ (ਪੰਜਾਂ ਡਾਕੂਆਂ ਤੋਂ) ਨਾਹ ਪਿਉ ਬਚਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਹ ਮਾਂ ਬਚਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਉਨ ਤੇ ਰਾਖੈ ਮੀਤੁ ਨ ਭਾਈ ॥
un tay raakhai meet na bhaa-ee.
No one can save us from them.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਨਾਂਹ ਕੋਈ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਬਚਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਂਹ ਕੋਈ ਭਰਾ ਬਚਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਦਰਬਿ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਨਾ ਓਇ ਰਹਤੇ ॥
darab si-aanap naa o-ay rahtay.
They cannot be restrained by wealth or cleverness.
ਉਹ ਪੰਜੇ ਡਾਕੂ ਨਾਹ ਧਨ ਨਾਲ ਵਰਜੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ, ਨਾਹ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਨਾਲ ਵਰਜੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਓਇ ਦੁਸਟ ਵਸਿ ਹੋਤੇ ॥੩॥
saaDhsang o-ay dusat vas hotay. ||3||
It is only through the Company of the holy that these villains can be controlled. ||3||
ਉਹ ਪੰਜੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਕਾਬੂ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੋਹਿ ਸਾਰਿੰਗਪਾਣਿ ॥
kar kirpaa mohi saaringpaan.
O’ God, show mercy on me,
ਹੇ ਧਨੁਖ-ਧਾਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ,
ਸੰਤਨ ਧੂਰਿ ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥
santan Dhoor sarab niDhaan.
and bless me with the the humble service of the saints which is a real treasure.
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਦੇਹ, ਏਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਾਬਤੁ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੰਗਿ ॥
saabat poonjee satgur sang.
The true wealth of human life remains intact in the company of the true Guru.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਸਾਰੇ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਬਚਿਆ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਾਗੈ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ॥੪॥
nanak jaagai paarbrahm kai rang. ||4||
Being imbued with God’s love, Nanak remains aware of these vices. ||4||
ਨਾਨਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਪੰਜਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਲਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹਿਦਾ ਹੈ l ॥੪॥
ਸੋ ਜਾਗੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਿਰਪਾਲੁ ॥
so jaagai jis parabh kirpaal.
One to whom God shows His mercy, remains aware of these vices,
(ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਪੰਜਾਂ ਡਾਕੂਆਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਲਿਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਓਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਇਹ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਸਾਬਤੁ ਧਨੁ ਮਾਲੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੨੦॥੮੯॥
ih poonjee saabat Dhan maal. ||1|| rahaa-o doojaa. ||20||89||
and keeps safe his wealth of spiritual life. ||1||Second Pause||20||89||
ਉਸਦੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਰਾਸਿ-ਪੂੰਜੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਬਚੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ॥੨੦॥੮੯॥

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਖਾਨ ਸੁਲਤਾਨ ॥
jaa kai vas khaan sultaan.
He who controls all the kings and chiefs;
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ) ਖ਼ਾਨ ਤੇ ਸੁਲਤਾਨ ਹਨ,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਹੈ ਸਗਲ ਜਹਾਨ ॥
jaa kai vas hai sagal jahaan.
He who commands the entire universe,
ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਹੀ ਜਿਸਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ,
ਜਾ ਕਾ ਕੀਆ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
jaa kaa kee-aa sabh kichh ho-ay.
by whose doing everything happens,
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੀ (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥
tis tay baahar naahee ko-ay. ||1||
nothing happens without His command. ||1||
ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਜੀਵ ਆਕੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੧॥
ਕਹੁ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਹਿ ॥
kaho baynantee apunay satgur paahi.

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰ।
ਕਾਜ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ਦੇਇ ਨਿਬਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kaaj tumaaray day-ay nibaahi. ||1|| rahaa-o.
He will accomplish your tasks. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਾਰਜ (ਜਨਮ-ਮਨੋਰਥ) ਪੂਰੇ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ, ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਦਰਬਾਰੁ ॥
sabh tay ooch jaa kaa darbaar.
He whose court is most exalted,
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦਰਬਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ (ਸ਼ਾਨਦਾਰ) ਹੈ,
ਸਗਲ ਭਗਤ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥
sagal bhagat jaa kaa naam aDhaar.
whose Name is the support of all devotees,
ਸਾਰੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ) ਵਾਸਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਰਬ ਬਿਆਪਿਤ ਪੂਰਨ ਧਨੀ ॥
sarab bi-aapat pooran Dhanee.
that perfect Master is pervading everywhere.
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ,
ਜਾ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਬਨੀ ॥੨॥
jaa kee sobhaa ghat ghat banee. ||2||
whose glory is manifest in each and every heart, ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਫਬਣ ਵਿਖਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ,॥੨॥
ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਦੁਖ ਡੇਰਾ ਢਹੈ ॥
jis simrat dukh dayraa dhahai.
by meditating on whom all the miseries are abolished;
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ
ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਜਮੁ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਕਹੈ ॥
jis simrat jam kichhoo na kahai.
by meditating on whom the fear of death doesn’t trouble the mind and
ਜਿਸਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆਂ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਹੋਤ ਸੂਕੇ ਹਰੇ ॥
jis simrat hot sookay haray.
by meditating on whom the mortals are spiritually rejuvenated.
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ,ਜੋ ਸੁੱਕਾ-ਸੜਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਰ-ਸਬਜ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
