ਗਉੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥
ga-orhee gu-aarayree mehlaa 4.
Raag Gauree Gwaarayree, Fourth Guru:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਸਫਲ ਹੈ ਬਣੀ ॥
satgur sayvaa safal hai banee.
The teachings of the true Guru becomes fruitful.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਲਾਭਦਾਇਕ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਜਿਤੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਧਣੀ ॥
jit mil har naam Dhi-aa-i-aa har Dhanee.
because through him, one meditates on the Name of the supreme God.
ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਸ (ਗੁਰ-ਸਰਨ) ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ) ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਪੀਛੈ ਛੂਟੀ ਘਣੀ ॥੧॥
jin har japi-aa tin peechhai chhootee ghanee. ||1||
So many are saved from vices along with those who meditate on Naam. ||1||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੂਰਨਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਲੁਕਾਈ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ l
ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਹਰਿ ਬੋਲਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥
gursikh har bolhu mayray bhaa-ee.
O’ my brotherly disciples of the Guru, lovingly meditate on God’s Name.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਬਣ ਕੇ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਰਾਹ ਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰੋ।
ਹਰਿ ਬੋਲਤ ਸਭ ਪਾਪ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har bolat sabh paap leh jaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Meditating on God’s Name, all sins are washed away. ||1||Pause||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਪਾਪ (ਮਨ ਤੋਂ) ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਜਬ ਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਤਬ ਮਨੁ ਵਸਿ ਆਇਆ ॥
jab gur mili-aa tab man vas aa-i-aa.
When one follows the Guru’s teachings, one’s mind comes under control.
ਜਦੋਂ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ (ਇਸ ਦਾ) ਮਨ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਧਾਵਤ ਪੰਚ ਰਹੇ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
Dhaavat panch rahay har Dhi-aa-i-aa.
While meditating on God, one’s five faculties (sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste) stop running after evil impulses,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਪੰਜੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲ ਦੌੜਨੋਂ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਗਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
an-din nagree har gun gaa-i-aa. ||2||
and the soul, the master of the body, always sings God’s praises. ||2||
ਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਗ ਧੂਰਿ ਜਿਨਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਈ ॥
satgur pag Dhoor jinaa mukh laa-ee.
Those who have followed the Guru’s teachings with full faith and reverence,
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ (ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀਆਂ) ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਲਾ ਲਈ,
ਤਿਨ ਕੂੜ ਤਿਆਗੇ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥
tin koorh ti-aagay har liv laa-ee.
have renounced all their falsehoods and attuned themselves to the love of God.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਝੂਠੇ ਮੋਹ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜ ਲਈ।
ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲ ਭਾਈ ॥੩॥
tay har dargeh mukh oojal bhaa-ee. ||3||
O’ my brother, such persons receive honor at God’s court. ||3||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੁਰਖ਼ਰੂ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਆਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
gur sayvaa aap har bhaavai.
Serving the Guru by following his teachings is pleasing to God Himself.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ (ਪੈਣਾ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨੁ ਬਲਭਦ੍ਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਪਗ ਲਗਿ ਧਿਆਵੈ ॥
krisan balbhadaro gur pag lag Dhi-aavai.
Even Krishna, and Balbhadra meditated on God through their Guru’s teachings.
ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਅਤੇ ਬਲਭਦਰ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਧਿਆਉਂਦਾ ਸੀ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਤਰਾਵੈ ॥੪॥੫॥੪੩॥
naanak gurmukh har aap taraavai. ||4||5||43||
O’ Nanak, it is through the Guru that God Himself helps a person to swim across this worldly ocean of vices. ||4||5||43||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ

Raag Gauree Gwaarayree, Fourth Guru:
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਜੋਗੀ ਡੰਡਾਧਾਰੀ ॥
har aapay jogee dandaaDhaaree.
God Himself is the Yogi, who wields the staff of authority.
ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਡੰਡਾ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਜੋਗੀ ਭੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ॥
har aapay rav rahi-aa banvaaree.
God Himself is pervading as the master of this worldly forest.
ਜਗਤ ਬਾਗ ਦਾ ਮਾਲੀ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਤਪੁ ਤਾਪੈ ਲਾਇ ਤਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
har aapay tap taapai laa-ay taaree. ||1||
God Himself is practicing intense self-disciplined meditation. ||1||
ਹਰੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਤਾੜੀ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਤਪ-ਸਾਧਨ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ l
ਐਸਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥
aisaa mayraa raam rahi-aa bharpoor.
Such is my God, who is pervading everywhere.
ਮੇਰਾ ਰਾਮ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ।
ਨਿਕਟਿ ਵਸੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਦੂਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
nikat vasai naahee har door. ||1|| rahaa-o.
God dwells near all the beings and is not far away from anywhere. ||1||Pause||
ਉਹ (ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ) ਨੇੜੇ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਥਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਉਹ ਹਰੀ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਧੁਨਿ ਆਪੇ ॥
har aapay sabad surat Dhun aapay.
God Himself is the divine word, Himself is the awareness, and Himself tuned to its music
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਹੈ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਹੈ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਲਗਨ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖੈ ਵਿਗਸੈ ਆਪੇ ॥
har aapay vaykhai vigsai aapay.
God Himself watches over His creation and feels delighted beholding it.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠਾ ਇਹ ਜਗਤ-ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ) ਵੇਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ) ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਜਪਾਇ ਆਪੇ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਪੇ ॥੨॥
har aap japaa-ay aapay har jaapay. ||2||
God Himself meditates on the divine word, and inspires others to meditate. ||2||
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਖੁਦ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰਨਾ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਕਰਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਸਾਰਿੰਗ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਧਾਰਾ ॥
har aapay saaring amrit-Dhaara.
God Himself is the pied-cuckoo, Himself the rain of nectar.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਪਪੀਹਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਪਪੀਹੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਵਰਖਾ ਦੀ ਧਾਰ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਆਪਿ ਪੀਆਵਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
har amrit aap pee-aavanhaaraa.
God Himself is the ambrosial nectar; He Himself leads us to drink it.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਉਹ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ) ਪਿਲਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਆਪੇ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥੩॥
har aap karay aapay nistaaraa. ||3||
God Himself creates the beings and He Himself ferries them across the world ocean of vices. ||3||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਬੇੜੀ ਤੁਲਹਾ ਤਾਰਾ ॥
har aapay bayrhee tulhaa taaraa.
God Himself is the boat, the raft and the boatman.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਣ ਲਈ) ਬੇੜੀ ਹੈ ਤੁਲਹਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥
har aapay gurmatee nistaaraa.
God Himself saves us from the vices through the Guru’s teachings.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਤੇ ਤੋਰ ਕੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਵੈ ਪਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੬॥੪੪॥
har aapay naanak paavai paaraa. ||4||6||44||
O Nanak, God Himself carries us across the world ocean of vices. ||4||6||44||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l

Raag Gauri Bairagan, Fourth Guru:
ਸਾਹੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਧਣੀ ਜੈਸੀ ਤੂੰ ਰਾਸਿ ਦੇਹਿ ਤੈਸੀ ਹਮ ਲੇਹਿ ॥
saahu hamaaraa tooN Dhanee jaisee tooN raas deh taisee ham layhi.
O God, You are our Master and we receive only what You give us.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡਾ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਹੈਂ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਅਸੀਂ ਲੈ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਣੰਜਹ ਰੰਗ ਸਿਉ ਜੇ ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਦੇਹਿ ॥੧॥
har naam vannjah rang si-o jay aap da-i-aal ho-ay deh. ||1||
We would lovingly trade in the wealth of God’s Name, if You become gracious and give us this wealth. ||1||
ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਦੇਵੇਂ ਤਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਵਪਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ
ਹਮ ਵਣਜਾਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਕੇ ॥
ham vanjaaray raam kay.
We are the traders sent by God.
ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਸ਼ਾਹੂਕਾਰ) ਦੇ (ਭੇਜੇ ਹੋਏ) ਵਪਾਰੀ ਹਾਂ।
ਹਰਿ ਵਣਜੁ ਕਰਾਵੈ ਦੇ ਰਾਸਿ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har vanaj karaavai day raas ray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ brother, by giving us the capital of Naam, He makes us deal in it. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਸ਼ਾਹ (ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ) ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਕੇ (ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਵਪਾਰ ਕਰਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਲਾਹਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਧਨੁ ਖਟਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਚੇ ਸਾਹ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
laahaa har bhagat Dhan khati-aa har sachay saah man bhaa-i-aa.
The one who in this life has earned the profit of God’s devotional worship is pleasing to God, the true Master.
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਖੱਟਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸ਼ਾਹ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਵਖਰੁ ਲਦਿਆ ਜਮੁ ਜਾਗਾਤੀ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਇਆ ॥੨॥
har jap har vakhar ladi-aa jam jaagaatee nayrh na aa-i-aa. ||2||
One who by meditating on God’s Name carries the wealth of Naam is not bothered even by the demon of death, ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੌਦਾ ਵਿਹਾਝਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਮ-ਮਸੂਲੀਆ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕਦਾ l
ਹੋਰੁ ਵਣਜੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਵਾਪਾਰੀਏ ਅਨੰਤ ਤਰੰਗੀ ਦੁਖੁ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
hor vanaj karahi vaapaaree-ay anant tarangee dukh maa-i-aa.
Those traders who trade in other worldly merchandise, are caught up in the endless waves of Maya and endure pain and sorrow.
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਜੀਵ-ਵਣਜਾਰੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਵਣਜ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਲਹਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ ਦੁਖ ਸਹਾਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਓਇ ਜੇਹੈ ਵਣਜਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਇਆ ਫਲੁ ਤੇਹਾ ਤਿਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
o-ay jayhai vanaj har laa-i-aa fal tayhaa tin paa-i-aa. ||3||
In whatever business God has enjoined them, they have recieved the reward accordingly. ||3||
ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਵਣਜ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੀ ਫਲ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ l
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਵਣਜੁ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੇਈ ॥
har har vanaj so jan karay jis kirpaal ho-ay parabh day-ee.
Only that person deals in the capital of God’ Name, upon whom God becomes merciful and bestows the wealth of Naam.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਵਪਾਰ ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਲੇਖਾ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਲੇਈ ॥੪॥੧॥੭॥੪੫॥
jan naanak saahu har sayvi-aa fir laykhaa mool na lay-ee. ||4||1||7||45||
O’ Nanak, the one who has lovingly performed the devotional worship of God, the true Master never holds him accountable. ||4||1||7||45||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ (ਸਭ ਦੇ) ਸ਼ਾਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਉਹ ਸ਼ਾਹ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਣਜ-ਵਪਾਰ ਦਾ) ਲੇਖਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਗਦਾ

Raag Gauri Bairagan, Fourth Guru:
ਜਿਉ ਜਨਨੀ ਗਰਭੁ ਪਾਲਤੀ ਸੁਤ ਕੀ ਕਰਿ ਆਸਾ ॥
ji-o jannee garabh paaltee sut kee kar aasaa.
The mother nourishes the fetus in the womb, hoping for a son (healthy child),
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਮਾਂ ਪੁੱਤਰ (ਜੰਮਣ) ਦੀ ਆਸ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ (ਨੌ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ) ਕੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਵਡਾ ਹੋਇ ਧਨੁ ਖਾਟਿ ਦੇਇ ਕਰਿ ਭੋਗ ਬਿਲਾਸਾ ॥
vadaa ho-ay Dhan khaat day-ay kar bhog bilaasaa.
who will grow and earn and give her money to enjoy worldly pleasuers.
(ਉਹ ਆਸ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ) ਵੱਡਾ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਧਨ ਖੱਟ-ਕਮਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ (ਲਿਆ ਕੇ) ਦੇਵੇਗਾ,
ਤਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਦਾ ਦੇ ਆਪਿ ਹਥਾਸਾ ॥੧॥
ti-o har jan pareet har raakh-daa day aap hathaasaa. ||1||
In just the same way the humble servants of God love Him, Who extends His Helping Hand to them. ||1||
ਏਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਰਬ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਦਾ ਹਥ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
