ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥
aapay hee parabh deh mat har naam Dhi-aa-ee-ai.
O’ God, upon whom You bestow wisdom meditates on Naam.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!, ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਸੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
vadbhaagee satgur milai mukh amrit paa-ee-ai.
By good fortune, one who meets the true Guru, tastes the nectar of Naam.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਉਮੈ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਸਹਜੇ ਸੁਖਿ ਸਮਾਈਐ ॥
ha-umai dubiDhaa binas jaa-ay sehjay sukh samaa-ee-ai.
His egotism and duality are eradicated and he intuitively remains in bliss.
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਦੁਚਿੱਤਾ-ਪਨ ਅਤੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਸਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਆਪੇ ਨਾਇ ਲਾਈਐ ॥੨॥
sabh aapay aap varatdaa aapay naa-ay laa-ee-ai. ||2||
He Himself is All-pervading; He Himself links us to Naam. ||2||
ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਗਰਬਿ ਨ ਪਾਇਓ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਇਆਣੇ ॥
manmukh garab na paa-i-o agi-aan i-aanay.
The self-willed persons in their arrogant pride do not realize God; they are ignorant and foolish.
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਕਾਰਨ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ, ਉਹ ਬੇ-ਸਮਝ ਤੇ ਨਾਦਾਨ ਹਨ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਪਛੁਤਾਣੇ ॥
satgur sayvaa naa karahi fir fir pachhutaanay.
They do not follow the teachings of the True Guru, and in the end, they regret and repent over and over again.
ਉਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਪਛੁਤਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਗਰਭ ਜੋਨੀ ਵਾਸੁ ਪਾਇਦੇ ਗਰਭੇ ਗਲਿ ਜਾਣੇ ॥
garabh jonee vaas paa-iday garbhay gal jaanay.
They are stuck in the cycles of births and deaths and ultimately they spiritually rot in these rounds of birth and death.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਇਸ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਗਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮੇਰੇ ਕਰਤੇ ਏਵੈ ਭਾਵਦਾ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭਰਮਾਣੇ ॥੩॥
mayray kartay ayvai bhaavdaa manmukh bharmaanay. ||3||
It so pleases my Creator that these self-willed may remain lost in doubt. ||3||
ਮੇਰੇ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਇਹੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਭਟਕਦੇ ਰਹਿਣ
ਮੇਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਲੇਖੁ ਲਿਖਾਇਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਪੂਰਾ ॥
mayrai har parabh laykh likhaa-i-aa Dhur mastak pooraa.
One who was preordained with perfect destiny by my perfect God,
ਜਿਸ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਧੁਰ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਦਾ ਅਟੱਲ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖ ਦਿੱਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੂਰਾ ॥
har har naam Dhi-aa-i-aa bhayti-aa gur sooraa.
He meets with the brave guru and always lovingly meditates on God’s Name.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਮਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਬੰਧਪੁ ਬੀਰਾ ॥
mayraa pitaa maataa har naam hai har banDhap beeraa.
Now, God’s Name is my father, mother, brother and kin.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਉ ਹੈ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਂ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਨਬੰਧੀ ਹੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਵੀਰ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕੀਰਾ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੭॥੩੭॥
har har bakhas milaa-ay parabh jan naanak keeraa. ||4||3||17||37||
O’ God, please bestow mercy and unite your humble devotee Nanak with Yourself. ||4||3||17||37||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਇਹ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਿਮਾਣਾ ਦਾਸ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਉਤੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖ

Raag Gauri Bairagan, Third Guru:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
satgur tay gi-aan paa-i-aa har tat beechaaraa.
Receiving divine knowledge from the true Guru, I contemplated over God’s virtues.
ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੋਧ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੋਚਿਆ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਮਤਿ ਮਲੀਣ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਭਈ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਰਾਰਾ ॥
mat maleen pargat bha-ee jap naam muraaraa.
By meditating on God’s Name, the intellect polluted with vices was enlightened.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਮੈਲੀ ਹੋਈ ਮਤਿ ਨਿਖਰ ਪਈ।
ਸਿਵਿ ਸਕਤਿ ਮਿਟਾਈਆ ਚੂਕਾ ਅੰਧਿਆਰਾ ॥
siv sakat mitaa-ee-aa chookaa anDhi-aaraa.
God erased the influence of Maya and the darkness of ignorance.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਮਿਟਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਅਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦਾ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
ਧੁਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥੧॥
Dhur mastak jin ka-o likhi-aa tin har naam pi-aaraa. ||1||
God’s Name is pleasing only to those, who have been so preordained . ||1||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਧੁਰੋਂ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ
ਹਰਿ ਕਿਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਹੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਹਉ ਜੀਵਾ ॥
har kit biDh paa-ee-ai sant janhu jis daykh ha-o jeevaa.
O’ Saints, please tell me how can I realize God, beholding whom I spiritually survive.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ!ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਦੱਸੋ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਚਸਾ ਨ ਜੀਵਤੀ ਗੁਰ ਮੇਲਿਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਵਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har bin chasaa na jeevtee gur maylihu har ras peevaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Without God, I cannot spiritually survive even for an instant. Please unite me with the Guru, so that I may partake the elixir of God’s Name. ||1||Pause||
ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਵਿੱਛੁੜ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਜੀਊਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ। ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਵੋ ਤਾਂ ਜੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਪੀ ਸਕਾਂ l
ਹਉ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਨਿਤ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗਤਿ ਕੀਨੀ ॥
ha-o har gun gaavaa nit har sunee har har gat keenee.
I listen and sing the Praises of God daily; God has emancipated me.
ਮੈਂ ਨਿੱਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਬਖ਼ਸ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਲੀਨੀ ॥
har ras gur tay paa-i-aa mayraa man tan leenee.
I have received the essence of Naam from the Guru; now my mind and body are merged therein.
ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਮੇਰਾ ਤਨ ਉਸ ਸੁਆਦ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਤ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਦੀਨੀ ॥
Dhan Dhan gur sat purakh hai jin bhagat har deenee.
Blessed is the Guru who has bestowed the gift of devotional worship of God.
ਉਹ ਸਤਪੁਰਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਲਾਹੁਣ-ਯੋਗ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ
ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੋ ਗੁਰੁ ਹਮ ਕੀਨੀ ॥੨॥
jis gur tay har paa-i-aa so gur ham keenee. ||2||
I have dedicated myself to such a Guru, through whom I have realized God. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ l
ਗੁਣਦਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ਹੈ ਹਮ ਅਵਗਣਿਆਰੇ ॥
gundaataa har raa-ay hai ham avgani-aaray.
The Sovereign God is the bestower of virtues, but we are all full of vices.
ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਹਿਨਸ਼ਾਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਅਉਗਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
ਪਾਪੀ ਪਾਥਰ ਡੂਬਦੇ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਤਾਰੇ ॥
paapee paathar doobday gurmat har taaray.
We sinners sink like stones in this world ocean of vices; through the Guru’s teachings, God ferries us across.
ਅਸੀ ਪਾਪੀ ਜੀਵ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਪੱਥਰ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਡੁੱਬੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤੂੰ ਗੁਣਦਾਤਾ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਹਮ ਅਵਗਣਿਆਰੇ ॥
tooN gundaataa nirmalaa ham avgani-aaray.
O’ God, You are the immaculate bestower of virtues, but we are full of vices.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ-ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈਂ ਤੂੰ ਗੁਣ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਅਉਗਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੇ ਪਏ ਹਾਂ।
ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਾਗਤਿ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਮੂੜ ਮੁਗਧ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥੩॥
har sarnaagat raakh layho moorh mugaDh nistaaray. ||3||
O’ God, we have entered Your refuge; please save us from the vices, just as You have emancipated even the most foolish persons. ||3||
ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਅਸੀਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਏ ਹਾਂ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਅਉਗਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੂੰ ਮਹਾ ਮੂਰਖਾਂ ਪਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿਤੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਹਜੁ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
sahj anand sadaa gurmatee har har man Dhi-aa-i-aa.
Those who have meditated on God in their mind through the Guru’s teachings, have received eternal poise and bliss.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਸਜਣੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਘਰਿ ਸੋਹਿਲਾ ਗਾਇਆ ॥
sajan har parabh paa-i-aa ghar sohilaa gaa-i-aa.
They have realized God, a true friend, and are enjoying such a pleasure, as if a song of joy is being sung in their hearts.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਿ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸੱਜਣ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਚੇਤਾਇਆ ॥
har da-i-aa Dhaar parabh bayntee har har chaytaa-i-aa.
O’ God, this is my prayer before You; please show mercy and make me always remember You with loving devotion.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ, (ਮੇਰੀ) ਬੇਨਤੀ (ਸੁਣ), (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੇਹ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮੰਗੈ ਧੂੜਿ ਤਿਨ ਜਿਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੮॥੩੮॥
jan naanak mangai Dhoorh tin jin satgur paa-i-aa. ||4||4||18||38||
Nanak begs for the most humble service of those who have met the True Guru. ||4||4||18||38||
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਤੇਰੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ) ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ

Raag Gauree Gwaarayree, Fourth Gurul, Chau-Padas:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ
ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਸਾਸਤ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਪੜਿਆ ॥
pandit saasat simrit parhi-aa.
The Pandit recites the Shastras and the Simritees (the Hindu holy scriptures).
ਪੰਡਿਤ ਸ਼ਾਸਤਰ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ (ਆਦਿਕ ਧਰਮ ਪੁਸਤਕ) ਪੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜੋਗੀ ਗੋਰਖੁ ਗੋਰਖੁ ਕਰਿਆ ॥
jogee gorakh gorakh kari-aa.
the Yogi meditates on the name of his spiritual leader, Gorakh.
ਜੋਗੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਰਖ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ
ਮੈ ਮੂਰਖ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੁ ਪੜਿਆ ॥੧॥
mai moorakh har har jap parhi-aa. ||1||
Me the ignorant, have learned from my Guru only to meditate on Naam.||1||
ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਮੂਰਖ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜਪ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ l
ਨਾ ਜਾਨਾ ਕਿਆ ਗਤਿ ਰਾਮ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥
naa jaanaa ki-aa gat raam hamaaree.
O’ God, I do not know what will be my ultimate fate .
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਦਸ਼ਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗੀ।
ਹਰਿ ਭਜੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਤਰੁ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਤੂ ਤਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har bhaj man mayray tar bha-ojal too taaree. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O my mind, meditate on God’s Name with loving devotion and swim across the terrifying world-ocean of vices. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ (ਤੇ) ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾ,
