ੴ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar sat naam kartaa purakh nirbha-o nirvair akaal moorat ajoonee saibhaN gur prasad.
There is only one God whose Name is ‘of eternal existence’. He is the creator of the universe, all-pervading, without fear, without enmity, independent of time, beyond the cycle of birth and death, self revealed, and is realized by the Guru’s grace.
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ‘ਹੋਂਦ ਵਾਲਾ’ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਰਚਨਹਾਰ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ, ਭੈ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ, ਵੈਰ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਕਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ, (ਭਾਵ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਨਾਸ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ), ਜੋ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਤੋਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਉਤੰਗੀ ਪੈਓਹਰੀ ਗਹਿਰੀ ਗੰਭੀਰੀ ॥
utangee pai-ohree gahiree gambheeree.
O’ my friend, infested with ego, you are like a woman who is arrogantly proud of her height and youth, you should adopt an attitude of profound humility.
ਹੇ ਮਦ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਸਹੇਲੀਏ, ਤੂੰ ਉੱਚੇ ਲੰਮੇ ਕੱਦ ਵਾਲੀ, ਭਰ-ਜੁਆਨੀ ਤੇ ਅੱਪੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਸਹੇਲੀ ਵਾਕਨ ਹੈਂ ਤੂੰ ਗੰਭੀਰਤਾ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰ|
ਸਸੁੜਿ ਸੁਹੀਆ ਕਿਵ ਕਰੀ ਨਿਵਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਥਣੀ ॥
sasurh suhee-aa kiv karee nivan na jaa-ay thanee.
Just as a full-bodied woman is unable to bow to her mother-in-law, similarly, O’ my friend, how can I bow my egocentric head before God?
ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਭਰਵੀਂ ਛਾਤੀ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਜਨਾਨੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਸ ਅਗੇ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਝੁਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਅਗੇ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਝੁਕਾਂ ?
ਗਚੁ ਜਿ ਲਗਾ ਗਿੜਵੜੀ ਸਖੀਏ ਧਉਲਹਰੀ ॥
gach je lagaa girvarhee sakhee-ay Dha-ulharee.
O’ my friend, your ego is as high as the mountain-like high and strong mansions plastered with lime,
ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀਏ , ਤੇਰਾ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਪਹਾੜਾਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਪੱਕੇ ਮਹੱਲਾਂ ਵਾਕਨ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੂਨੇ ਦਾ ਪਲਸਤਰ ਲੱਗਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੇ ਭੀ ਢਹਦੇ ਡਿਠੁ ਮੈ ਮੁੰਧ ਨ ਗਰਬੁ ਥਣੀ ॥੧॥
say bhee dhahday dith mai munDh na garab thanee. ||1||
I have seen these mansions crumbling down, therefore: O’ my friend, do not be arrogantly proud of your beauty and youth like a young attractive woman. ||1||
ਉਹ (ਪੱਕੇ ਮਹੱਲ) ਭੀ ਡਿਗਦੇ ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖ ਲਏ ਹਨ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੁਟਿਆਰੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੁਆਨੀ ਦਾ ਮਾਣ ਨਾਂ ਕਰ ॥੧॥
ਸੁਣਿ ਮੁੰਧੇ ਹਰਣਾਖੀਏ ਗੂੜਾ ਵੈਣੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥
sun munDhay harnaakhee-ay goorhaa vain apaar.
O’ beautiful young woman of deer-like beautiful eyes, listen to the word of deep and infinite wisdom.
ਹੇ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਨੇਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਵਾਲੀਏ ਭੋਲੀਏ ਜੁਆਨ ਕੁੜੀਏ! ਇਕ ਬਹੁਤ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਭੇਤ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ।
ਪਹਿਲਾ ਵਸਤੁ ਸਿਞਾਣਿ ਕੈ ਤਾਂ ਕੀਚੈ ਵਾਪਾਰੁ ॥
pahilaa vasat sinjaan kai taaN keechai vaapaar.
Just as a thing is examined first and then it is bought, similarly first examine your habits and adopt those which bring you closer to God
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਚੀਜ਼ ਖ਼ਰੀਦਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ (ਉਸ) ਚੀਜ਼ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਖ ਲੈਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਿਵੇਂ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਨੀਆਂ ਆਦਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਕਰ, ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਪਣਾ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਵੇਂ।
ਦੋਹੀ ਦਿਚੈ ਦੁਰਜਨਾ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਕੂੰ ਜੈਕਾਰੁ ॥
dohee dichai durjanaa mitraaN kooN jaikaar.
You should strongly proclaim your refusal to associate with evil persons (vices), and should welcome friends (virtues), and hail their victory.
ਮੰਦੇ ਪੁਰਸ਼ਾ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾ) ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਤੋ ਬਚ ਕੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੀ ਦੁਹਾਈ ਦੇਣੀ ਚਾਇਦੀ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਮਿੱਤਰਾਂ (ਭਲੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਜੈਕਾਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਤੁ ਦੋਹੀ ਸਜਣ ਮਿਲਨਿ ਲਹੁ ਮੁੰਧੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
jit dohee sajan milan lahu munDhay veechaar.
O’ young woman, hold on to the thoughts of that proclamation which brings you close to the friends (virtues).
ਹੇ ਭੋਲੀਏ ! ਜਿਸ ਦੁਹਾਈ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਸੱਜਣ ਮਿਲੇ ਰਹਿਣ, (ਉਸ ਦੁਹਾਈ ਦੀ) ਵਿਚਾਰ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਸਾਂਭ ਰੱਖ।
ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਸਜਣਾ ਐਸਾ ਹਸਣੁ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
tan man deejai sajnaa aisaa hasan saar.
We should surrender our body and mind to such virtuous friends, because it gives such a pleasure which is superior to all other pleasure.
(ਇਹਨਾਂ) ਸੱਜਣਾਂ (ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ) ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਆਪਣਾ ਤਨ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਭੇਟ ਕਰ ਦੇਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਕ) ਅਜਿਹਾ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜੋ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਿਸ ਸਉ ਨੇਹੁ ਨ ਕੀਚਈ ਜਿ ਦਿਸੈ ਚਲਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
tis sa-o nayhu na keech-ee je disai chalanhaar.
Don’t fall in love with the visible worldly things which are transitory.
(ਇਹ ਜਗਤ-ਪਸਾਰਾ) ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਦਿੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ; ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਮੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਇਵ ਕਰਿ ਬੁਝਿਆ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ॥੨॥
naanak jinHee iv kar bujhi-aa tinHaa vitahu kurbaan. ||2||
O’ Nanak, I am dedicated to those who have understood this secret of spiritual life. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ (ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀਆਂ ਨੇ) (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਭੇਤ ਨੂੰ) ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ (ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ) ॥੨॥
ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਤਾਰੂ ਪਾਣਿ ਤਾਹੂ ਪੁਛੁ ਤਿੜੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕਲ ॥
jay tooN taaroo paan taahoo puchh tirhHaN-nH kal.
O’ mortal, if you wish to become a swimmer of the waters of the world-ocean of vices, then ask those saints who know the art to swim across it.
ਜੇ ਤੂੰ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੇ) ਪਾਣੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਤਾਰੂ (ਬਣਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ), (ਤਾਂ ਤਰਨ ਦੀ ਜਾਚ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਪੁੱਛ (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਣ ਦੀ ਜਾਚ ਹੈ।
ਤਾਹੂ ਖਰੇ ਸੁਜਾਣ ਵੰਞਾ ਏਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਕਪਰੀ ॥੩॥
taahoo kharay sujaan vanjaa aynHee kapree. ||3||
Only those mortals are true swimmers who pass through the waves of the world ocean of vices; even I can cross over these waves by joining their company. ||3||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੀ ਅਸਲ ਸਿਆਣੇ (ਤਾਰੂ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਦੇ ਹਨ)। ਮੈਂ (ਭੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ) ਇਹਨਾਂ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੩॥
ਝੜ ਝਖੜ ਓਹਾੜ ਲਹਰੀ ਵਹਨਿ ਲਖੇਸਰੀ ॥
jharh jhakharh ohaarh lahree vahan lakhaysaree.
In this worldly ocean millions of waves of vices surge like the torrential rains, storms and floods.
(ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ) ਝੜੀਆਂ (ਲੱਗੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਹਨ, ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ) ਝੱਖੜ (ਝੁੱਲ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ) ਹੜ੍ਹ (ਆ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ) ਲੱਖਾਂ ਹੀ ਠਿੱਲਾਂ ਪੈ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਿਉ ਆਲਾਇ ਬੇੜੇ ਡੁਬਣਿ ਨਾਹਿ ਭਉ ॥੪॥
satgur si-o aalaa-ay bayrhay duban naahi bha-o. ||4||
If you call upon the true Guru for help, then you will not have any fear of drowning your boat of life in this world-ocean of vices. ||4||
ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਕਰੇ ਤਾਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਜੀਵਨ- ਬੇੜੀ ਦੇ (ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ) ਡੁੱਬ ਜਾਣ ਬਾਰੇ ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹੇਗਾ ॥੪॥
ਨਾਨਕ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਕੈਸੀ ਹੋਈ ॥
naanak dunee-aa kaisee ho-ee.
O’ Nanak, what has happened to the people of this world?
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਦੁਨੀਆ ( ਲੁਕਾਈ) ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ?
ਸਾਲਕੁ ਮਿਤੁ ਨ ਰਹਿਓ ਕੋਈ ॥
saalak mit na rahi-o ko-ee.
There is no true friend left to guide about righteous living.
ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਸਤਾ ਦੱਸਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਕਿਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਲੱਭਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਭਾਈ ਬੰਧੀ ਹੇਤੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥
bhaa-ee banDhee hayt chukaa-i-aa.
By getting trapped in the attachment with brothers and relatives, one has forsaken love for God
ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਸਨਬੰਧੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਪਿਆਰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮੁਕਾਈ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੈ;
ਦੁਨੀਆ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਦੀਨੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥੫॥
dunee-aa kaaran deen gavaa-i-aa. ||5||
and for the sake of worldly riches and power, people have lost even their faith and sense of righteousness. ||5||
ਦੁਨੀਆ (ਦੀ ਮਾਇਆ) ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਗੰਵਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
ਹੈ ਹੈ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਓਹਿ ਕਰੇਨਿ ॥
hai hai kar kai ohi karayn.
The relatives cry, weep and wail upon the death of a dear one.
(ਕਿਸੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਨਬੰਧੀ ਦੇ ਮਰਨ ਤੇ ਜ਼ਨਾਨੀਆਂ) ‘ਹਾਇ ਹਾਇ’ ਆਖ ਆਖ ਕੇ ‘ਓਇ ਓਇ’ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ (ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਆਖਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਗਲ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਪਿਟਨਿ ਸਿਰੁ ਖੋਹੇਨਿ ॥
galHaa pitan sir khohayn.
They slap their cheeks and pull out their hair.
ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਗੱਲ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਿੱਟਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਸਿਰ (ਦੇ ਵਾਲ) ਖੁੰਹਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਉ ਲੈਨਿ ਅਰੁ ਕਰਨਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
naa-o lain ar karan samaa-ay.
However, even at such sad times, those who remember God’s Name and accept His will,
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ (ਅਜਿਹੇ ਸਦਮੇ ਦੇ ਸਮੇ ਭੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ) ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੬॥
naanak tin balihaarai jaa-ay. ||6||
Nanak is dedicated to them. ||6||
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
ਰੇ ਮਨ ਡੀਗਿ ਨ ਡੋਲੀਐ ਸੀਧੈ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਧਾਉ ॥
ray man deeg na dolee-ai seeDhai maarag Dhaa-o.
O’ my mind, we should not wander in the crooked (evil) path in life, instead we should run on the straight path of righteousness.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ-ਭਰੇ) ਵਿੰਗੇ (ਜੀਵਨ-) ਰਸਤੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਭਟਕਦੇ ਫਿਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ, ਤੇ ਸਿੱਧੇ (ਜੀਵਨ-) ਰਾਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਦੌੜ।
ਪਾਛੈ ਬਾਘੁ ਡਰਾਵਣੋ ਆਗੈ ਅਗਨਿ ਤਲਾਉ ॥
paachhai baagh daraavno aagai agan talaa-o.
While walking on the evil path there is fear of spiritual death here, and misery of cycle of birth and death hereafter, as if behind is a terrible tiger and lake of fire ahead.
(ਵਿੰਗੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਤੁਰਿਆਂ) ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਹੈ, ਤੇ) ਅਗਾਂਹ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ , ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਗ੍ਰਸ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਸਹਸੈ ਜੀਅਰਾ ਪਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਮਾ ਕਉ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਢੰਗੁ ॥
sahsai jee-araa par rahi-o maa ka-o avar na dhang.
Walking on this crooked path, life always remains miserable, and except following the Guru’s teachings, I do not see any other way to escape it.
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ ਸਹਮ ਵਿਚ ਪਈ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ। (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਇਸ ਵਿੰਗੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਤਰੀਕਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁੱਝਦਾ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਛੁਟੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਿਉ ਸੰਗੁ ॥੭॥
naanak gurmukh chhutee-ai har pareetam si-o sang. ||7||
O’ Nanak, it is only by following the Guru’s teachings that we can be saved from this vicious path, and unite with our beloved God. ||7||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਹੀ ਇਸ ਵਿੰਗੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਥ ਬਣ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
ਬਾਘੁ ਮਰੈ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰੀਐ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦੀਖਿਆ ਹੋਇ ॥
baagh marai man maaree-ai jis satgur deekhi-aa ho-ay.
The mind of a person who follows the Guru’s teachings comes under control, and the spiritual deterioration ends, as if the spiritual life-eating tiger dies.
ਜਿਸ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ (ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ) ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਮਨ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਖਾ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਬਘਿਆੜ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਮਰਣਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
aap pachhaanai har milai bahurh na marnaa ho-ay.
One who recognizes his origin, unites with God and doesn’t go through the cycle of birth and death ever again.
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਜੀਵ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂਲ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੁੜ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
