ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਤ ਦੇਵ ਸਬੈ ਮੁਨਿ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਮਹਾ ਸਿਵ ਜੋਗ ਕਰੀ ॥
ant na paavat dayv sabai mun indar mahaa siv jog karee.
All the angles and sages, including god Indira and god Shiva who practiced yoga, yet they were unable to find God’s limit,
ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਮੁਨੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਾਹ ਪਾਇਆ। ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਜੋਗ-ਸਾਧਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ,
ਫੁਨਿ ਬੇਦ ਬਿਰੰਚਿ ਬਿਚਾਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਪੁ ਨ ਛਾਡ੍ਉ ਏਕ ਘਰੀ ॥
fun bayd biranch bichaar rahi-o har jaap na chhaadi-ya-o ayk gharee.
and god Brahma got exhausted reflecting on Vedas, but he didn’t forsake contemplating on God even for a moment.
ਅਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬੇਦ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਥੱਕ ਗਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਇਕ ਘੜੀ ਨਾਹ ਛੱਡਿਆ।
ਮਥੁਰਾ ਜਨ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੀਨ ਦਯਾਲੁ ਹੈ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ੍ਟਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਕਰੀ ॥
mathuraa jan ko parabh deen da-yaal hai sangat sarisat nihaal karee.
(Guru Arjan), who is like God to devotee Mathura, is merciful to the meek; he has delighted the entire congregation and the world.
ਦਾਸ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜੁਨ) ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਨੇ ਸੰਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਤੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਰਾਮਦਾਸਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਜਗ ਤਾਰਨ ਕਉ ਗੁਰ ਜੋਤਿ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਧਰੀ ॥੪॥
raamdaas guroo jag taaran ka-o gur jot arjun maahi Dharee. ||4||
To emancipate the world, Guru Ramdas enshrined the Guru’s divine light in Guru Arjan. ||4||
ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਾਲੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤੀ ॥੪॥
ਜਗ ਅਉਰੁ ਨ ਯਾਹਿ ਮਹਾ ਤਮ ਮੈ ਅਵਤਾਰੁ ਉਜਾਗਰੁ ਆਨਿ ਕੀਅਉ ॥
jag a-or na yaahi mahaa tam mai avtaar ujaagar aan kee-a-o.
In the pitch darkness of ignorance, there was none other to provide spiritual guidance in the world; God revealed Himself and incarnated as Guru Arjun.
ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਘੋਰ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਰਾਖਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ , ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਹਰੀ ਨੇ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਉਜਾਗਰ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਦੁਖ ਕੋਟਿਕ ਦੂਰਿ ਗਏ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਪੀਅਉ ॥
tin kay dukh kotik door ga-ay mathuraa jinH amrit naam pee-a-o.
O’ Mathura, those who drank the ambrosial nectar of Naam (from the Guru), millions of their sorrows went away.
ਹੇ ਮਥੁਰਾ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ (ਉਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਨਾਮ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
ਇਹ ਪਧਤਿ ਤੇ ਮਤ ਚੂਕਹਿ ਰੇ ਮਨ ਭੇਦੁ ਬਿਭੇਦੁ ਨ ਜਾਨ ਬੀਅਉ ॥
ih paDhat tay mat chookeh ray man bhayd bibhayd na jaan bee-a-o.
O’ my mind, don’t let yourself slip from this divine path, and don’t deem any difference or distinction between the Guru and God,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਕਿਤੇ ਇਸ ਰਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਨਾਹ ਜਾਈਂ, ਕਿਤੇ ਇਹ ਵਿੱਥ ਨ ਸਮਝੀਂ, ਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜੁਨ (ਹਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਖਰਾ) ਦੂਜਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਰਤਛਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਗੁਰ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ਲੀਅਉ ॥੫॥
partachh ridai gur arjun kai har pooran barahm nivaas lee-a-o. ||5||
because the perfect God has obviously manifested in the heart of Guru Arjan. ||5||
ਪੂਰਨ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਹਰੀ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
ਜਬ ਲਉ ਨਹੀ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਲਾਰ ਉਦੈ ਤਬ ਲਉ ਭ੍ਰਮਤੇ ਫਿਰਤੇ ਬਹੁ ਧਾਯਉ ॥
jab la-o nahee bhaag lilaar udai tab la-o bharamtay firtay baho Dhaa-ya-o.
As long as my preordained destiny remained un awakened, I wandered around running in all directions.
ਜਦ ਤਾਈਂ ਮੱਥੇ ਦੇ ਭਾਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਨ ਜਾਗੇ, ਤਦ ਤਾਈਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਭਟਕਦੇ ਤੇ ਭੱਜਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਸਾਂ,
ਕਲਿ ਘੋਰ ਸਮੁਦ੍ਰ ਮੈ ਬੂਡਤ ਥੇ ਕਬਹੂ ਮਿਟਿ ਹੈ ਨਹੀ ਰੇ ਪਛੁਤਾਯਉ ॥
kal ghor samudar mai boodat thay kabhoo mit hai nahee ray pachhotaa-ya-o.
I was drowning in the horrible world-ocean of this dark age of kalyug, and my remorse would never cease
ਕਲਜੁਗ ਦੇ ਡਰਾਉਣੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬ ਰਹੇ ਸਾਂ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪੱਛੋਤਾਵਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਮਿਟਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ।
ਤਤੁ ਬਿਚਾਰੁ ਯਹੈ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਜਗ ਤਾਰਨ ਕਉ ਅਵਤਾਰੁ ਬਨਾਯਉ ॥
tat bichaar yahai mathuraa jag taaran ka-o avtaar banaa-ya-o.
O’ Mathura, the essence of deliberation is this, that in order to emancipate the world God incarnated the Guru Arjan.
ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਮਥੁਰਾ! ਹੁਣ ਸੱਚੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਹਰੀ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ,
ਜਪ੍ਉ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਦੇਵ ਗੁਰੂ ਫਿਰਿ ਸੰਕਟ ਜੋਨਿ ਗਰਭ ਨ ਆਯਉ ॥੬॥
jap-ya-o jinH arjun dayv guroo fir sankat jon garabh na aa-ya-o. ||6||
Those who have lovingly remembered Guru Arjan, haven’t suffered the calamity of falling into the womb ever again. ||6||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਦੇਵ (ਜੀ) ਨੂੰ ਜਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਰਤ ਕੇ ਗਰਭ ਜੂਨ ਤੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਏ ॥੬॥
ਕਲਿ ਸਮੁਦ੍ਰ ਭਏ ਰੂਪ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਉਧਾਰਨੁ ॥
kal samudar bha-ay roop pargat har naam uDhaaran.
To ferry human beings across the ocean of vices in the dark age of Kalyug, Guru Arjan has manifested as God’s Name.
ਕਲਜੁਗ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਤਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰੂਪ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ,
ਬਸਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਜਿਸੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਦੁਖ ਦਾਰਿਦ੍ਰ ਨਿਵਾਰਨੁ ॥
baseh sant jis ridai dukh daridar nivaaran.
Guru (Arjan) is the destroyer of Pain and destitution of that person in whose heart his teachings are enshrined.
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਤਰ ਆਤਮੇ ਸਾਧੂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜੁਨ) ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ,ਆਪ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਰਿਦ੍ਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਭੇਖ ਅਪਾਰ ਤਾਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
nirmal bhaykh apaar taas bin avar na ko-ee.
He (Guru Arjan) is embodiment of the immaculate and infinite God; except him, there is none other at all.
ਉਸ (ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜੁਨ) ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਅਪਾਰ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰੂਪ ਹਨ।
ਮਨ ਬਚ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਾਣਿਅਉ ਭਯਉ ਤਿਹ ਸਮਸਰਿ ਸੋਈ ॥
man bach jin jaani-a-o bha-ya-o tih samsar so-ee.
Whoever has realized God through his thoughts and words, has become like Him.
ਜਿਸ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਨੇ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਹਰੀ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੀ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਧਰਨਿ ਗਗਨ ਨਵ ਖੰਡ ਮਹਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਸ੍ਵਰੂਪੀ ਰਹਿਓ ਭਰਿ ॥
Dharan gagan nav khand meh jot savroopee rahi-o bhar.
Guru Arjan is the embodiment of God who is pervading the earth, skies and the nine continents of the planet.
(ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਹੀ) ਜੋਤਿ-ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਤੇ ਨੌ ਖੰਡਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਭਨਿ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਕਛੁ ਭੇਦੁ ਨਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਅਰਜੁਨੁ ਪਰਤਖ੍ਯ੍ਯ ਹਰਿ ॥੭॥੧੯॥
bhan mathuraa kachh bhayd nahee gur arjun partakh-y har. ||7||19||
O’ Mathura! say, Guru Arjan is the obvious manifestation of God Himself, there is no difference between them. ||7||19||
ਹੇ ਮਥੁਰਾ! ਆਖਿ-ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਸਾਖਿਆਤ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਹੈ। ਕੋਈ ਫ਼ਰਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੭॥੧੯॥
ਅਜੈ ਗੰਗ ਜਲੁ ਅਟਲੁ ਸਿਖ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਭ ਨਾਵੈ ॥
ajai gang jal atal sikh sangat sabh naavai.
(In the court of Guru Arjan) flows the invincible stream of Naam like the water of Ganges, the entire congregation of disciples bathe in it.
(ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ) ਕਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਮੁੱਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ (ਨਾਮ-ਰੂਪ) ਗੰਗਾ ਜਲ (ਵਹਿ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ) ਸਾਰੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਿਤ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਬਾਚੀਅਹਿ ਬੇਦ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
nit puraan baachee-ah bayd barahmaa mukh gaavai.
It appears as if in your presence, the Puranas are being recited every day and Brahma himself is also singing the Vedas from his mouth.
(ਆਪ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ) ਪੁਰਾਣ ਸਦਾ ਪੜ੍ਹੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ (ਭੀ ਆਪ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ) ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਵੇਦਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ
ਅਜੈ ਚਵਰੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਢੁਲੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਲੀਅਉ ॥
ajai chavar sir dhulai naam amrit mukh lee-a-o.
The chavar, Divine royal fan, is continuously waving on your head; you have always uttered the spiritually rejuvenating Name of God from your mouth.
(ਆਪ ਦੇ) ਸਿਰ ਤੇ ਰੱਬੀ ਚਉਰ ਝੁੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਨੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਣ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ (ਸਦਾ) ਉਚਾਰਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਸਿਰਿ ਛਤ੍ਰੁ ਆਪਿ ਪਰਮੇਸਰਿ ਦੀਅਉ ॥
gur arjun sir chhatar aap parmaysar dee-a-o.
The supreme God Himself has placed the canopy of this spiritual kingdom over the head of Guru Arjan.
ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਛਤ੍ਰ ਟਿਕਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਮਿਲਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਅੰਗਦ ਅਮਰ ਗੁਰ ਗੁਰੁ ਰਾਮਦਾਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਹਿ ਗਯਉ ॥
mil naanak angad amar gur gur raamdaas har peh ga-ya-o.
Guru Ramdas has merged with God like Guru Nanak, Guru Angad and Guru Amardas,
ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ, ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਹਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ,
ਹਰਿਬੰਸ ਜਗਤਿ ਜਸੁ ਸੰਚਰ੍ਉ ਸੁ ਕਵਣੁ ਕਹੈ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੁਯਉ ॥੧॥
harbans jagat jas sanchar-ya-o so kavan kahai saree gur mu-ya-o. ||1||
O’ bard Harbans, the glory of the true Guru is spreading in the world; who says that the revered Guru (Ramdas) has died? ||1||
ਹੇ ਹਰਿਬੰਸ! ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਸਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਕੌਣ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਮੁਏ ਹਨ? ॥੧॥
ਦੇਵ ਪੁਰੀ ਮਹਿ ਗਯਉ ਆਪਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ੍ਵਰ ਭਾਯਉ ॥
dayv puree meh ga-ya-o aap parmaysvar bhaa-ya-o.
Guru Ramdas went to God’s presence and it pleased the supreme God,
(ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮ ਦਾਸ) ਸੱਚ ਖੰਡ ਵਿਚ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਇਹੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਚੰਗੀ ਲੱਗੀ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਸਿੰਘਾਸਣੁ ਦੀਅਉ ਸਿਰੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਤਹ ਬੈਠਾਯਉ ॥
har singhaasan dee-a-o siree gur tah bathaa-ya-o.
where God honored him by offering the Divine throne, and seated the revered Guru on it.
ਹਰੀ ਨੇ (ਆਪ ਨੂੰ) ਤਖ਼ਤ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ (ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ) ਨੂੰ ਬਿਠਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਰਹਸੁ ਕੀਅਉ ਸੁਰ ਦੇਵ ਤੋਹਿ ਜਸੁ ਜਯ ਜਯ ਜੰਪਹਿ ॥
rahas kee-a-o sur dayv tohi jas ja-y ja-y jampeh.
The angels and gods in heaven expressed their happiness; O’ Guru, they are proclaiming your victory and singing your praise.
ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਮੰਗਲਚਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇਰਾ ਜਸ ਤੇ ਜੈ-ਜੈਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
ਅਸੁਰ ਗਏ ਤੇ ਭਾਗਿ ਪਾਪ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਕੰਪਹਿ ॥
asur ga-ay tay bhaag paap tinH bheetar kampeh.
The demons ran away from there, because their sins made them shake and tremble inside.
ਉਹ (ਸਾਰੇ ਦੈਂਤ (ਉਥੋਂ) ਭੱਜ ਗਏ ਹਨ, (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ) ਪਾਪ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਕੰਬ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
ਕਾਟੇ ਸੁ ਪਾਪ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ ਨਰਹੁ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਰਾਮਦਾਸੁ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ ਪਾਇਯਉ ॥
kaatay so paap tinH marahu kay gur raamdaas jinH paa-i-ya-o.
All the sins of those, who have received and followed the teachings of Guru Ramdas, have vanished
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਪ ਕੱਟੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਛਤ੍ਰੁ ਸਿੰਘਾਸਨੁ ਪਿਰਥਮੀ ਗੁਰ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਕਉ ਦੇ ਆਇਅਉ ॥੨॥੨੧॥੯॥੧੧॥੧੦॥੧੦॥੨੨॥੬੦॥੧੪੩॥
chhatar singhaasan pirathmee gur arjun ka-o day aa-i-a-o. ||2||21||9||11||10||10||22||60||143||
Guru Ramdas gave the canopy and throne of the spiritual kingdom on earth to Guru Arjun and has reached his true home. ||2||21||9||11||10||10||22||60||143||
ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਛਤਰ ਤੇ ਸਿੰਘਾਸਣ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੨੧॥੯॥੧੧॥੧੦॥੧੦॥੨੨॥੬੦॥੧੪੩॥
