ਗੁਰ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਗੁਣ ਸਹਜਿ ਬਿਚਾਰੰ ॥
gur arjun gun sahj bichaaraN.
and in a state of spiritual poise, I reflect upon the virtues of Guru Arjan.
ਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿਕ ਕੇ)ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਵਿਚਾਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਗੁਰ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਘਰਿ ਕੀਅਉ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸਾ ॥
gur raamdaas ghar kee-a-o pargaasaa.
Guru Arjan was born in the house-hold of Guru Ramdas,
ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ (ਜੀ) ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਦੇਵ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਜਨਮ ਲਿਆ,
ਸਗਲ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰੀ ਆਸਾ ॥
sagal manorath pooree aasaa.
and all the objectives and desires of Guru Ramdas were fulfilled.
ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ (ਜੀ) ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਤੇ ਆਸਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ।
ਤੈ ਜਨਮਤ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਓ ॥
tai janmat gurmat barahm pachhaani-o.
O’ Guru Arjan, through the Guru’s teachings, you have realized Godfrom early childhood.
ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਦੇਵ! ਤੂੰ ਜਨਮ ਤੋਂ ਹੀਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਹੈ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ),
ਕਲ੍ ਜੋੜਿ ਕਰ ਸੁਜਸੁ ਵਖਾਣਿਓ ॥
kal-y jorh kar sujas vakhaani-o.
Kallh, the bard, utters your praises with folded hands.
ਕਲ੍ ਕਵੀ ਹੱਥ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ (ਆਪ ਦੀ) ਸਿਫ਼ਤ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਭਗਤਿ ਜੋਗ ਕੌ ਜੈਤਵਾਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਨਕੁ ਉਪਾਯਉ ॥
bhagat jog kou jaitvaar har janak upaa-ya-o.
To conqueror yoga (achieve union with God) through devotional worship, God has created you as Janak (divinely wise),
ਹਰੀ ਨੇ ਭਗਤੀ ਰੂਪ ਜੋਗ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਤਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਨੋ ਜਨਕ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਬਦੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਰਕਾਸਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਨ ਬਸਾਯਉ ॥
sabad guroo parkaasi-o har rasan basaa-ya-o.
and has revealed the divine word as Guru in your heart; you have enshrined God on your tongue.
ਅਤੇ (ਆਪ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਸ਼ਬਦ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਮਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪ ਨੇ) ਜੀਭ ਉੱਤੇ ਵਸਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਅੰਗਦ ਅਮਰ ਲਾਗਿ ਉਤਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਯਉ ॥
gur naanak angad amar laag utam pad paa-ya-o.
Just as Guru Angad attained supreme status by following Guru Nanak’s teachings and Guru Amardas attained it through Guru Angad’s teachings,
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੇ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਮ ਪਦਵੀ ਪਾਈ,
ਗੁਰੁ ਅਰਜੁਨੁ ਘਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਭਗਤ ਉਤਰਿ ਆਯਉ ॥੧॥
gur arjun ghar gur raamdaas bhagat utar aa-ya-o. ||1||
similarly God’s devotee Guru Arjan has come to this world by taking birth in the house-hold of Guru Ramdas. ||1||
ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ (ਜੀ) ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਵਿਖੇ ਭਗਤ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਦੇਵ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ਉਨਮਾਨਿਅਉ ਰਿਦਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਬਸਾਯਉ ॥
badbhaagee unmaani-a-o rid sabad basaa-ya-o.
Guru Arjandev is very fortunate, he has attained a state of ecstasy and has enshrined Divine word in his heart.
(ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜੁਨ) ਵੱਡੇ ਵਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਪੂਰਨ ਖਿੜਾਉ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ। (ਆਪ ਨੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਸਾਇਆ ਹੈ;
ਮਨੁ ਮਾਣਕੁ ਸੰਤੋਖਿਅਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਯਉ ॥
man maanak santhokhi-a-o gur naam darirhaaH-ya-o.
The Guru (Guru Ramdas) has firmly implanted God’s Name in him, which has brought contentment to his jewel-like mind.
(ਆਪ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਾਣਕ-ਰੂਪ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਇਆ ਹੈ; ਗੁਰੂ (ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ) ਨੇ (ਆਪ ਨੂੰ) ਨਾਮ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ ਕਰਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦਰਸਾਯਉ ॥
agam agochar paarbarahm satgur darsaa-ya-o.
The true Guru (Guru Ramdas) has made him visualize the unfathomable, incomprehensible and supreme God.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ (ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ) ਨੇ (ਆਪ ਨੂੰ) ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਵਿਖਾਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰੁ ਅਰਜੁਨੁ ਘਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਅਨਭਉ ਠਹਰਾਯਉ ॥੨॥
gur arjun ghar gur raamdaas anbha-o thahraa-ya-o. ||2||
In the House-hold of Guru Ramdas, Guru Arjun has appeared as the embodiment of divine wisdom. ||2||
ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ (ਜੀ) ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜੁਨ (ਜੀ) ਨੂੰ ਗਿਆਨ-ਰੂਪ ਥਾਪਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਜਨਕ ਰਾਜੁ ਬਰਤਾਇਆ ਸਤਜੁਗੁ ਆਲੀਣਾ ॥
janak raaj bartaa-i-aa satjug aaleenaa.
(Guru Arjan dev) has established the kingdom of divine wisdom as if the rule of truth, the satyug has started.
(ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੇ) ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਰਾਜ ਵਰਤਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, (ਹੁਣ ਤਾਂ) ਸਤਿਜੁਗ ਵਰਤ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੇ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਅਪਤੀਜੁ ਪਤੀਣਾ ॥
gur sabday man maani-aa apteej pateenaa.
His mind is appeased through the word of the Guru, and this insatiable mind has been satiated.
(ਆਪ ਦਾ) ਮਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਇਹ ਨਾਹ ਪਤੀਜਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨ ਪਤੀਜ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਚੁ ਨੀਵ ਸਾਜਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੰਗਿ ਲੀਣਾ ॥
gur naanak sach neev saaj satgur sang leenaa.
Just as after laying the foundation of truth, Guru Nanak merged and became one with the true Guru (Guru Angad dev);
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ’ਸਚੁ’-ਰੂਪ ਨੀਂਹ ਉਸਾਰ ਕੇ ਆਪ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਸਾਹਿਬ) ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਸਨ ।
ਗੁਰੁ ਅਰਜੁਨੁ ਘਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਬੀਣਾ ॥੩॥
gur arjun ghar gur raamdaas aprampar beenaa. ||3||
similarly in the house-hold of Guru Ramdas, Guru Arjan is seen as the embodiment of the infinite God.||3||
ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ (ਜੀ) ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਦੇਵ ਅਪਰੰਪਰ-ਰੂਪ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਖੇਲੁ ਗੂੜ੍ਹ੍ਹਉ ਕੀਅਉ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ਸੰਤੋਖਿ ਸਮਾਚਰ੍ਯ੍ਯਿਓ ਬਿਮਲ ਬੁਧਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸਮਾਣਉ ॥
khayl goorhHa-o kee-a-o har raa-ay santokh samaachri-ya-o bimal buDh satgur samaana-o.
God, the sovereign king, has staged this wondrous play, because of which immaculate intellect is infused in Guru Arjan and he conducts himself in a contented manner.
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਅਸਚਰਜ ਖੇਡ ਰਚੀ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਚਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਨਿਰਮਲ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
ਆਜੋਨੀ ਸੰਭਵਿਅਉ ਸੁਜਸੁ ਕਲ੍ ਕਵੀਅਣਿ ਬਖਾਣਿਅਉ ॥
aajonee sambhvi-a-o sujas kal-y kavee-an bakhaani-a-o.
Kallh and other bards have uttered the sublime praises of Guru Arjan, the embodiment of that God who is self revealed and free from incarnations.
ਆਪ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਤ ਤੇ ਸੁਤੇ-ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹਨ। ਕਲ੍ਯ੍ਯ ਆਦਿਕ ਕਵੀਆਂ ਨੇ (ਆਪ ਦਾ) ਸੁੰਦਰ ਜਸ ਉਚਾਰਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਨਕਿ ਅੰਗਦੁ ਵਰ੍ਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਅੰਗਦਿ ਅਮਰ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥
gur naanak angad var-ya-o gur angad amar niDhaan.
Guru Nanak blessed Guru Angad, and then Guru Angad passed on the treasure of Naam to Guru Amar das.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਨੂੰ ਵਰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ; ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਅਰਜੁਨੁ ਵਰ੍ਉ ਪਾਰਸੁ ਪਰਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣੁ ॥੪॥
gur raamdaas arjun var-ya-o paaras paras parmaan. ||4||
Just like the example of becoming gold by touching the mythical Philosopher’s stone, Guru Ramdas blessed Arjun and he became the Guru. ||4||
ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਨੇ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਅਰਜੁਨ (ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ) ਨੂੰ ਵਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ; ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ (ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਛੁਹਣਾ ਪਾਰਸ ਦੀ ਛੋਹ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਸਦ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਅਰਜੁਨੁ ਅਮੋਲੁ ਆਜੋਨੀ ਸੰਭਉ ॥
sad jeevan arjun amol aajonee sambha-o.
Guru Arjan dev is immortal, he is invaluable and is the embodiment of God who is self revealed, free from incarnations,
(ਗੁਰੂ) ਅਰਜਨ (ਸਾਹਿਬ) ਸਦ-ਜੀਵੀ ਹੈ, (ਆਪ ਦਾ) ਮੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ, (ਆਪ) ਜੂਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਤ ਤੇ ਸੁਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹਨ;
ਭਯ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਪਰ ਦੁਖ ਨਿਵਾਰੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਅਨੰਭਉ ॥
bha-y bhanjan par dukh nivaar apaar anmbha-o.
destroyer of fear, dispeller of sorrows, infinite and full of divine wisdom.
ਭੈ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ, ਪਰਾਏ ਦੁੱਖ ਹਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ, ਬੇਅੰਤ ਤੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈ।
ਅਗਹ ਗਹਣੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭ੍ਰਾਂਤਿ ਦਹਣੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਸੁਖ ਦਾਤਉ ॥
agah gahan bharam bharaaNt dahan seetal sukh daata-o.
Guru Arjan has attained the Unattainable God, he is the dispeller of doubt and dread, and the giver of cool comforts;
( ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੀ) ਉਸ ਹਰੀ ਤਕ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ ਜੋ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ) ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨਭਰਮ ਤੇ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਸੀਤਲ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ;
ਆਸੰਭਉ ਉਦਵਿਅਉ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਬਿਧਾਤਉ ॥
asambha-o udvi-a-o purakh pooran biDhaata-o.
it is (as if) the self-revealed God, the perfect Creator Himself has become manifest.
(ਮਾਨੋ) ਅਜਨਮਾ, ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਦਿ ਅੰਗਦ ਅਮਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਇਅਉ ॥
naanak aad angad amar satgur sabad samaa-i-a-o.
By the grace of the primal Guru Nanak, Guru Angad and Guru Amardas, Guru Arjan is absorbed in the word of the true Guru.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ, ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਦੇਵ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੈ।
ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਗੁਰੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਪਾਰਸੁ ਪਰਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਅਉ ॥੫॥
Dhan Dhan guroo raamdaas gur jin paaras paras milaa-i-a-o. ||5||
Guru Ramdas is also praisworthy who has made Guru Arjan like himself by blessing him with his divine touch, just like the touch of mythical philosopher’s stone. ||5||
ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਧੰਨ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ (ਅਰਜਨ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ) ਪਰਸ ਕੇ ਪਾਰਸ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
ਜੈ ਜੈ ਕਾਰੁ ਜਾਸੁ ਜਗ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਮੰਦਰਿ ਭਾਗੁ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਸਿਵ ਰਹਤਾ ॥
jai jai kaar jaas jag andar mandar bhaag jugat siv rahtaa.
That Guru ( Guru Arjan), whose glory is resounding in the world, whosedestiny has awakened in the heart and whose mind remains united with God,
ਜਿਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਭਾਗ ਜਾਗ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਹਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਯਉ ਬਡ ਭਾਗੀ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ਮੇਦਨਿ ਭਰੁ ਸਹਤਾ ॥
gur pooraa paa-ya-o bad bhaagee liv laagee maydan bhar sahtaa.
and by good fortune he has found the perfect Guru, and whose mind remains attuned to God, and who bears the responsibility of the entire world.
(ਜਿਸ ਨੇ) ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, (ਜਿਸ ਦੀ) ਬ੍ਰਿਤੀ (ਹਰੀ ਵਿਚ) ਜੁੜੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਜੋ ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਭਾਰ ਸਹਿ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ;
ਭਯ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਪਰ ਪੀਰ ਨਿਵਾਰਨੁ ਕਲ੍ਯ੍ਯ ਸਹਾਰੁ ਤੋਹਿ ਜਸੁ ਬਕਤਾ ॥
bha-y bhanjan par peer nivaaran kal-y sahaar tohi jas baktaa.
O’ Guru Arjan, bard Kallh Sahaar is uttering your praise, that you are the destroyer of fear and the dispeller of the pain of others.
(ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਜੀ!) ਤੂੰ ਭੈ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ, ਪਰਾਈ ਪੀੜ ਹਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਕਵੀ ਕਲ੍ਯ੍ਯਸਹਾਰ ਤੇਰਾ ਜਸ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕੁਲਿ ਸੋਢੀ ਗੁਰ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਤਨੁ ਧਰਮ ਧੁਜਾ ਅਰਜੁਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਾ ॥੬॥
kul sodhee gur raamdaas tan Dharam Dhujaa arjun har bhagtaa. ||6||
In the Sodhi family, is born Arjun, the son of Guru Ramdas, the holder of the banner of Dharma (righteousness)and he is the devotee of God. ||6|
ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਸੋਢੀ ਕੁਲ ਵਿਚ ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਝੰਡੇ ਵਾਲਾ, ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਭਗਤ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
ਧ੍ਰੰਮ ਧੀਰੁ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਗਭੀਰੁ ਪਰ ਦੁਖ ਬਿਸਾਰਣੁ ॥
Dharamm Dheer gurmat gabheer par dukh bisaaran.
Guru Arjan is the support of righteousness, profound in the Guru’s wisdom, and the dispeller of pain of others,
ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਦੇਵਈਸ਼ਵਰੀ ਈਮਾਨ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ,ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਗੁਰਮੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਡੂੰਘਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਾਏ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਬਦ ਸਾਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਮ ਉਦਾਰੁ ਅਹੰਮੇਵ ਨਿਵਾਰਣੁ ॥
sabad saar har sam udaar ahaNmayv nivaaran.
his word is sublime, he is benevolent like God Himself, and is the dispeller of self-conceit.
ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਹਰੀ ਵਰਗਾ ਉਦਾਰ-ਚਿੱਤ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਹਾ ਦਾਨਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨਿ ਮਨਿ ਚਾਉ ਨ ਹੁਟੈ ॥
mahaa daan satgur gi-aan man chaa-o na hutai.
Guru Arjan is a generous donor, possesses the true Guru’s wisdom, and from his mind the craving for God never lessens,
(ਆਪ) ਬੜੇ ਦਾਨੀ ਹਨ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ, (ਆਪ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਕਦੇ ਘੱਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ,
ਸਤਿਵੰਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਨ ਨਿਖੁਟੈ ॥
satvant har naam mantar nav niDh na nikhutai.
he is the embodiment of truth, and has the mantra of God’s Name, the treasure of (all the) nine kinds of riches, which never falls short.
(ਆਪ) ਸਤਿਵੰਤ ਹਨ, ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰੂਪ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ (ਜੋ, ਮਾਨੋ,) ਨੌ ਨਿਧੀਆਂ (ਹੈ ਆਪ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਕਦੇ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਤਨੁ ਸਰਬ ਮੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਚੰਦੋਆ ਤਾਣਿਅਉ ॥
gur raamdaas tan sarab mai sahj chando-aa taani-a-o.
Guru Arjan, the son of Guru Ram Das Ji, is the embodiment of all pervading Godaland he has spread the canopy of poise.
ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਸਪੁਤ੍ਰ (ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਜੀ) ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ (ਦਾ ਰੂਪ) ਹੈ; (ਆਪ ਨੇ) ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ (ਆਪਣਾ) ਚੰਦੋਆ ਤਾਣਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਆਪ ਸਹਜ ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਆਨੰਦ ਲੈ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ)।
ਗੁਰ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਕਲ੍ਯ੍ਯੁਚਰੈ ਤੈ ਰਾਜ ਜੋਗ ਰਸੁ ਜਾਣਿਅਉ ॥੭॥
gur arjun kal-yuchrai tai raaj jog ras jaani-a-o. ||7||
Bard Kallh says, O’ Guru Arjan, you have truly understood the delight of the spiritual wisdom while living as a householder. ||7||
ਕਲ੍ਯ੍ਯ ਕਵੀ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, “ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਦੇਵ! ਤੂੰ ਰਾਜ ਅਤੇ ਜੋਗ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਸਮਝ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ” (ਮਾਣ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ) ॥੭॥
