ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਜਾਗ੍ਰਣੁ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਪਵਈ ਥਾਇ ॥
ha-umai vich jaagran na hova-ee har bhagat na pav-ee thaa-ay.
No true spiritual awakening takes place in the state of egotism, and any worship done in this state is not accepted in God’s presence.
ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਜਾਗਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ, (ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ (ਭੀ) ਕਬੂਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਦਰਿ ਢੋਈ ਨਾ ਲਹਹਿ ਭਾਇ ਦੂਜੈ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥੪॥
manmukh dar dho-ee naa laheh bhaa-ay doojai karam kamaa-ay. ||4||
The self-willed persons do deeds in the love for duality and can find no place in God’s presence. ||4||
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਕਰਮ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਆਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦੇ ॥੪॥
ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਖਾਣਾ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਪੈਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਣਾ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
Dharig khaanaa Dharig painHnaa jinHaa doojai bhaa-ay pi-aar.
Cursed is the food and cursed are the clothes of those who are attached to the love of duality (things and entities other than God).
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਲਗਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਖਾਣਾ ਹੰਢਾਣਾ ਫਿਟਕਾਰ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈ ।
ਬਿਸਟਾ ਕੇ ਕੀੜੇ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਰਾਤੇ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਹੋਹਿ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥੫॥
bistaa kay keerhay bistaa raatay mar jameh hohi khu-aar. ||5||
Just like-maggots in manure, they remain imbued with love for manure-like Maya and keep suffering in the cycles of birth and death. ||5||
ਗੂੰਹ ਦੇ ਕੀੜੇਆ ਵਾਂਗ ਉਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਰਗੇ ਗੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ) ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੫॥
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਤਿਨਾ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥
jin ka-o satgur bhayti-aa tinaa vitahu bal jaa-o.
I am dedicated to those who have met the true Guru and have followed his teachings.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹਾਂ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਉ ॥੬॥
tin kee sangat mil rahaaN sachay sach samaa-o. ||6||
I wish that I may remain in their company and thus remain absorbed in theeternal God. ||6||
(ਮੇਰੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਾਂ (ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਾਂ ॥੬॥
ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਉਪਾਇ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
poorai bhaag gur paa-ee-ai upaa-ay kitai na paa-i-aa jaa-ay.
The true Guru is met by perfect destiny, he cannot be found by any other effort.
ਗੁਰੂ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ (ਹੀ) ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ (ਹੋਰ) ਹੀਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਭਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸਹਜੁ ਊਪਜੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇ ॥੭॥
satgur tay sahj oopjai ha-umai sabad jalaa-ay. ||7||
The state of spiritual poise wells up by burning egotism through the true Guru’s divine word. ||7||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ (ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਸਾੜ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਅੰਦਰ) ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਭਜੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਣੈ ਜੋਗੁ ॥
har sarnaa-ee bhaj man mayray sabh kichh karnai jog.
O’ my mind, hasten to the refuge of God who is capable of doing everything.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹੁ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਹੋਗੁ ॥੮॥੨॥੭॥੨॥੯॥
naanak naam na veesrai jo kichh karai so hog. ||8||2||7||2||9||
O’ Nanak, pray that you may never forsake God’s Name, because whatever He does that happens for sure. ||8||2||7||2||9||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਤੂੰ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰ ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਨਾਹ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਏ, ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਉਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੮॥੨॥੭॥੨॥੯॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਭਾਈ ਸੁਤੁ ਬਨਿਤਾ ॥
maat pitaa bhaa-ee sut banitaa.
Mother, father, siblings, children and spouse,
ਮਾਂ, ਪਿਉ, ਭਰਾ, ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ (ਪਰਵਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਾਥੀ)-
ਚੂਗਹਿ ਚੋਗ ਅਨੰਦ ਸਿਉ ਜੁਗਤਾ ॥
choogeh chog anand si-o jugtaa.
joining together, they keep enjoying the worldly pleasures.
ਰਲ ਕੇ ਮੌਜ ਨਾਲ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ) ਭੋਗ ਭੋਗਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਉਰਝਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਮਨ ਮੀਠ ਮੋੁਹਾਰਾ ॥
urajh pari-o man meeth mohaaraa.
Their mind remains entangled in this seemingly sweet love of Maya.
(ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਮਨ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ) ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਮਿਠਾਸ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਗੁਨ ਗਾਹਕ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
gun gaahak mayray paraan aDhaaraa. ||1||
But the seekers of divine virtues have become the support of my life. ||1||
(ਪਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਗਾਹਕ (ਸੰਤ-ਜਨ) ਮੇਰੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣ ਗਏ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਏਕੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥
ayk hamaaraa antarjaamee.
The omniscient God is my only support.
ਸਭ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ (ਰਾਖਾ) ਹੈ।
ਧਰ ਏਕਾ ਮੈ ਟਿਕ ਏਕਸੁ ਕੀ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਾਹਾ ਵਡ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Dhar aykaa mai tik aykas kee sir saahaa vad purakh su-aamee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
I only depend on that One’s support and only that One’s anchor, the all pervading supreme God is the Master of all the kings. ||1||Pause||
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਮਾਲਕ ਵੱਡੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ (ਭੀ) ਖਸਮ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਛਲ ਨਾਗਨਿ ਸਿਉ ਮੇਰੀ ਟੂਟਨਿ ਹੋਈ ॥
chhal naagan si-o mayree tootan ho-ee.
(By the Guru’s grace) my ties with this serpent-like deceitful Maya are broken,
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਇਸ ਛਲ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਪਣੀ (-ਮਾਇਆ) ਨਾਲੋਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਟੁੱਟ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰਿ ਕਹਿਆ ਇਹ ਝੂਠੀ ਧੋਹੀ ॥
gur kahi-aa ih jhoothee Dhohee.
because the Guru has told me that this Maya is false and deceiver.
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਦੱਸ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ (ਮਾਇਆ) ਝੂਠੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਠੱਗੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ।
ਮੁਖਿ ਮੀਠੀ ਖਾਈ ਕਉਰਾਇ ॥
mukh meethee khaa-ee ka-uraa-ay.
This Maya is like that thing, which when put in the mouth tastes sweet, but when eaten it proves bitter (harmful).
(ਇਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਉਸ ਚੀਜ਼ ਵਰਗੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ) ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਖਾਧਿਆਂ ਕੌੜਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਨੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਅਘਾਇ ॥੨॥
amrit naam man rahi-aa aghaa-ay. ||2||
Therefore now my mind remains satisfied with God’s ambrosial Name. ||2||
ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਸਿਉ ਗਈ ਵਿਖੋਟਿ ॥
lobh moh si-o ga-ee vikhot.
I have broken my ties with greed and emotional attachment,
ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ (ਆਦਿਕ) ਨਾਲੋਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਇਤਬਾਰ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ,
ਗੁਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਕੀਨੀ ਛੋਟਿ ॥
gur kirpaal mohi keenee chhot
because the merciful Guru has done me a special favor.
ਕਿਉਂਕੇ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ (ਇਹ) ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ l
ਇਹ ਠਗਵਾਰੀ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਘਰ ਗਾਲੇ ॥
ih thagvaaree bahut ghar gaalay.
The gang of these cheats (greed and attachment) has ruined many hearts,
ਠੱਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਟੋਲੇ ਨੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਘਰ (ਹਿਰਦੇ) ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਮ ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੀਏ ਕਿਰਪਾਲੇ ॥੩॥
ham gur raakh lee-ay kirpaalay. ||3||
but the merciful Guru has protected me from this gang. ||3||
ਪਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਦਇਆ ਦੇ ਸੋਮੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਸਿਉ ਠਾਟੁ ਨ ਬਨਿਆ ॥
kaam kroDh si-o thaat na bani-aa.
I did not develop any interest in lust and anger.
ਕਿਉਂਕੇ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ (ਆਦਿਕ) ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣੀ।
ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਮੋਹਿ ਕਾਨੀ ਸੁਨਿਆ ॥
gur updays mohi kaanee suni-aa.
because I carefully listened to the Guru’s teachings.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਮੈਂ ਬੜੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਜਹ ਦੇਖਉ ਤਹ ਮਹਾ ਚੰਡਾਲ ॥
jah daykh-a-u tah mahaa chandaal.
Wherever I look, I see that these terrible monsters (have people in their grip),
ਮੈਂ ਜਿਧਰ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਉਧਰ ਇਹ ਵੱਡੇ ਚੰਡਾਲ (ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਪਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ),
ਰਾਖਿ ਲੀਏ ਅਪੁਨੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥੪॥
raakh lee-ay apunai gur gopaal. ||4||
but my Divine-Guru has saved me from them. ||4||
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਨੇ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਦਸ ਨਾਰੀ ਮੈ ਕਰੀ ਦੁਹਾਗਨਿ ॥
das naaree mai karee duhaagan.
I have deserted my ten sensory organs as if I have widowed ten woman,
(ਆਪਣੀਆਂ) ਦਸਾਂ ਹੀ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਛੁੱਟੜ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰਿ ਕਹਿਆ ਏਹ ਰਸਹਿ ਬਿਖਾਗਨਿ ॥
gur kahi-aa ayh raseh bikhaagan.
because the Guru has told me that pleasure from these sensory organs are likepoisonous fire for the spiritual life.
(ਰਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਅਪੜਾਣੀ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਦੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਰਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਅੱਗ ਹੈ।
ਇਨ ਸਨਬੰਧੀ ਰਸਾਤਲਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
in sanbanDhee rasaatal jaa-ay.
One who remains connected with these, he spiritually deteriorates.
ਇਹਨਾਂ (ਰਸਾਂ) ਨਾਲ ਮੇਲ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ (ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ) ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਨੀਵੀਂ ਖੱਡ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਮ ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੫॥
ham gur raakhay har liv laa-ay. ||5||
The Guru has saved me from these by inspiring me to focus on God. ||5||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਲਗਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਰਸਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
ਅਹੰਮੇਵ ਸਿਉ ਮਸਲਤਿ ਛੋਡੀ ॥
ahaNmayv si-o maslat chhodee.
I have stopped consulting with egotism (I no longer let ego guide my deeds),
ਮੈਂ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਨਾਲ (ਭੀ) ਮੇਲ-ਮਿਲਾਪ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰਿ ਕਹਿਆ ਇਹੁ ਮੂਰਖੁ ਹੋਡੀ ॥
gur kahi-aa ih moorakh hodee.
because the Guru has told me that egotism makes one foolish and obstinate.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਦੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਮੂਰਖ ਤੇ ਜ਼ਿੱਦੀ ਬਣਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਇਹੁ ਨੀਘਰੁ ਘਰੁ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥
ih neeghar ghar kahee na paa-ay.
(I have driven out my ego and) now this homeless ego finds no place within me.
(ਹੁਣ) ਇਹ (ਅਹੰਕਾਰ) ਬੇ-ਘਰਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ।
ਹਮ ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੀਏ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥੬॥
ham gur raakh lee-ay liv laa-ay. ||6||
The Guru has saved me from ego by inspiring me to focus on God’s Name. ||6|
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਲਗਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
ਇਨ ਲੋਗਨ ਸਿਉ ਹਮ ਭਏ ਬੈਰਾਈ ॥
in logan si-o ham bha-ay bairaa-ee.
I have become alienated from these evils (lust, greed and ego etc),
ਇਹਨਾਂ (ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਆਦਿਕਾਂ) ਨਾਲੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਬੇ-ਵਾਸਤਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ,
ਏਕ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਮਹਿ ਦੁਇ ਨ ਖਟਾਂਈ ॥
ayk garih meh du-ay na khataaN-ee.
because both (the ego and Naam) cannot live together in the same body.
ਇੱਕੋ (ਸਰੀਰ) ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਧਿਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੇਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਆਏ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਹਿ ਅੰਚਰਿ ਲਾਗਿ ॥
aa-ay parabh peh anchar laag.
By following the Guru’s teachings, I have come to God’s presence,
ਮੈਂ (ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਲੜ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ,
ਕਰਹੁ ਤਪਾਵਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਬਾਗਿ ॥੭॥
karahu tapaavas parabh sarbaag. ||7||
and pray: O’ all knowing God, please do justice. ||7||
(ਤੇ, ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ-) ਹੇ ਸਰਬੱਗ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਨਿਆਂ ਕਰ ॥੭॥
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹਸਿ ਬੋਲੇ ਕੀਏ ਨਿਆਂਏਂ ॥
parabh has bolay kee-ay ni-aaN-ayN.
God smiled and pronounced His judgement,
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਹੱਸ ਕੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਸੁਣਾ ਦਿਤਾ ।
ਸਗਲ ਦੂਤ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਏ ॥
sagal doot mayree sayvaa laa-ay.
and put all the demons (the evil impulses) into my service.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ (ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਇਹ) ਸਾਰੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿਚ ਲਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ।
ਤੂੰ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਇਹੁ ਗ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਤੇਰਾ ॥ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਆ ਨਿਬੇਰਾ ॥੮॥੧॥
tooN thaakur ih garihu sabh tayraa. kaho naanak gur kee-aa nibayraa. ||8||1||
O’ Nanak! say, the Guru has passed judgement and said, you are the master and this entire household (sensory organs) is under your control. ||8||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖ – ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈਂ , ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ-ਘਰ ਸਾਰਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ ॥੮॥੧॥
