ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਦ ਅਟਲਾ ॥
gur kaa sabad sadaa sad atlaa.
The Divine word of the Guru is unchanging, forever and ever.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਅਟੱਲ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ॥
gur kee banee jis man vasai.
In whose mind abides the Guru’s word,
ਜਿਸ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਸਭੁ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਨਸੈ ॥੧॥
dookh darad sabh taa kaa nasai. ||1||
all his pain and sorrow hastens away. ||1||
ਉਸ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਦਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਦਰਦ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਮ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
har rang raataa man raam gun gaavai.
One whose mind is imbued with God’s love, he keeps singing God’s praises,
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ (ਪਿਆਰ-) ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਮੁਕਤੋੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਧੂਰੀ ਨਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mukto saaDhoo Dhooree naavai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
he lives by the Guru’s teachings as if he is always bathing in the dust of the Guru’s feet and is emancipated from the vices. ||1||Pause||
ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨ-ਧੂੜ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਹੀ ਹੈ ‘ਮੁਕਤ’) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਉਤਰੇ ਪਾਰਿ ॥ ਭਉ ਭਰਮੁ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥
gur parsaadee utray paar. bha-o bharam binsay bikaar.
Those whose dread, doubt and sins are destroyed, they swim across the world-ocean of vices by the Guru’s grace.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਡਰ, ਭਟਕਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਸੇ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਨਾ ॥
man tan antar basay gur charnaa.
Those people in whose mind and body is enshrined the Guru’s words,
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਤਨ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਨਿਰਭੈ ਸਾਧ ਪਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਨਾ ॥੨॥
nirbhai saaDh paray har sarnaa. ||2||
these saintly people become fearless and remain in God’s refuge. ||2||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਅਨਦ ਸਹਜ ਰਸ ਸੂਖ ਘਨੇਰੇ ॥ ਦੁਸਮਨੁ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਨੇਰੇ ॥
anad sahj ras sookh ghanayray. dusman dookh na aavai nayray.
No enemy (vices) and sorrow even comes near those, and they enjoy the relish of many kinds of comforts, poise, and bliss.
ਕੋਈ ਵੈਰੀ ਦੁੱਖ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕ ਸਕਦਾ ,ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡਲੋਤਾ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਆਨੰਦ ਤੇ ਸੁਖ ਬਣੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ॥
gur poorai apunay kar raakhay.
All those whom the perfect Guru protected by making them his own,
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇਆਪਣੇ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ) ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕੀਤੀ,
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਸਭਿ ਲਾਥੇ ॥੩॥
har naam japat kilbikh sabh laathay. ||3||
all their sins vanished by lovingly remembering God’s Name. ||3||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ॥੩॥
ਸੰਤ ਸਾਜਨ ਸਿਖ ਭਏ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ ॥
sant saajan sikh bha-ay suhaylay.
The life of all those saints, friends and disciples became peaceful,
(ਉਹ) ਸੰਤ-ਜਨ ਸੱਜਣ ਸਿੱਖ ਸੁਖੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ,
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਿਉ ਲੈ ਮੇਲੇ ॥
gur poorai parabh si-o lai maylay.
whom the perfect Guru united with God.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਲਿਆ ਜੋੜਿਆ।
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੁਖ ਫਾਹਾ ਕਾਟਿਆ ॥ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੜਦਾ ਢਾਕਿਆ ॥੪॥੮॥
janam maran dukh faahaa kaati-aa. kaho naanak gur parh-daa dhaaki-aa. ||4||8||
O’ Nank, say, the Guru saved their honor and cut off their noose of the fear of cycles of births and deaths. ||4||8||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖ- ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖ ਲਈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਕੱਟ ਦਿੱਤੀ ॥੪॥੮॥

Raag Prabhati, Fifth Guru:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਆ ॥
satgur poorai naam dee-aa.
That person whom the perfect true Guru has blessed with God’s Name,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ,
ਅਨਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਸਗਲਾ ਰਾਸਿ ਥੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
anad mangal kali-aan sadaa sukh kaaraj saglaa raas thee-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
he attained bliss, joy, emancipation, and eternal peace, and the entire objective of his life got successfully fulfilled. ||1||pause||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਨੰਦ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ, ਉਸ (ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ) ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਹੀ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਮਨਿ ਵੂਠੇ ॥
charan kamal gur kay man voothay.
In whose mind got enshrined the Guru’s immaculate words,
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਆ ਵੱਸੇ,
ਦੂਖ ਦਰਦ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਝੂਠੇ ॥੧॥
dookh darad bharam binsay jhoothay. ||1||
all his sorrows, pains and doubts about false worldly things vanished. ||1||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ, ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਭਟਕਣਾਂ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮੁੱਕ ਗਈਆਂ ॥੧॥
ਨਿਤ ਉਠਿ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ॥੨॥
nit uth gaavhu parabh kee banee. aath pahar har simrahu paraanee. ||2||
O’ human beings, wake up daily in the early morning and sing the hymns of God’s praises and lovingly remember Him at all times. ||2||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀਓ! ਸਦਾ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਗਾਵਿਆ ਕਰੋ, ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰੋ ॥੨॥
ਘਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਭਨੀ ਥਾਈ ॥
ghar baahar parabh sabhnee thaa-ee.
God is pervading within all and outside everywhere in nature.
ਘਰ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਸਭ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ।
ਸੰਗਿ ਸਹਾਈ ਜਹ ਹਉ ਜਾਈ ॥੩॥
sang sahaa-ee jah ha-o jaa-ee. ||3||
Wherever I go, God is always with me as my support. ||3||
ਮੈਂ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਭੀ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਹਾਇਕ ਸਦਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਦੁਇ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਕਰੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥
du-ay kar jorh karee ardaas.
I offer this prayer with folded hands,
ਮੈਂ (ਤਾਂ) ਦੋਵੇਂ ਹੱਥ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਅਰਜ਼ੋਈ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਸਦਾ ਜਪੇ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗੁਣਤਾਸੁ ॥੪॥੯॥
sadaa japay naanak guntaas. ||4||9||
that devotee Nanak may always remember God, the treasure of virtues. ||4||9||
ਕਿ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਰਹੇ ॥੪॥੯॥

Raag Prabhati, Fifth Guru:
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੁਘੜ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ॥
paarbarahm parabh sugharh sujaan.
The Supreme God is all-wise and all-knowing,
ਸੋਹਣੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਘਾੜਤ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ-
ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਈਐ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਉ ਜਾਈਐ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur pooraa paa-ee-ai vadbhaagee darsan ka-o jaa-ee-ai kurbaan. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and He is realized only when we meet the perfect Guru by great fortune; we should dedicate ourselves to the blessed vision of such a great Guru.||1||Pause||
(ਤਦੋਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ) ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ) ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਆਪਣਾ-ਆਪ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਹਵਾਲੇ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਮੇਟੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ॥
kilbikh maytay sabad santokh.
One whom the Guru blessed with contentment and erased his sins through the divine word,
(ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ) ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ) ਪਾਪ ਮਿਟਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ (ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਸੰਤੋਖ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ,
ਨਾਮੁ ਅਰਾਧਨ ਹੋਆ ਜੋਗੁ ॥
naam araaDhan ho-aa jog.
Such a person then becomes capable of remembering God’s Name with adoration.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਜੋਗਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹੋਆ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥
saaDhsang ho-aa pargaas.
In the company of saints that person’s mind is enlightened with divine wisdom,
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ (ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਦਾ) ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥੧॥
charan kamal man maahi nivaas. ||1||
and God’s immaculate Name manifests in his mind. ||1||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਲੀਆ ਰਾਖਿ ॥
jin kee-aa tin lee-aa raakh.
That God who created the human being protected him from vices (when he followed the true Guru’s teachings).
ਜਿਸ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਨੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ (ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ ਤਾਂ) ਉਸ (ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਨੇ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ।
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਅਨਾਥ ਕਾ ਨਾਥੁ ॥
parabh pooraa anaath kaa naath.
The perfect God is the support of the supportless.
(ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ) ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਿਖਸਮਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਖਸਮ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਨਿਵਾਜੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
jisahi nivaajay kirpaa Dhaar.
Bestowing mercy whom God blesses with honors,
ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਜਿਸ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਨੂੰ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਪੂਰਨ ਕਰਮ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਆਚਾਰ ॥੨॥
pooran karam taa kay aachaar. ||2||
all deeds and conduct of that person become perfect.||2||
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਰਮ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਰਤੱਬ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਨਵੇ ॥
gun gaavai nit nit nit navay.
One who every day sings God’s praises with renewed zeal,
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਇਉਂ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਗੁਣ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਅਜੇ) ਨਵੇਂ (ਹਨ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਵੇਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਚੀਜ਼ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਖਿੱਚ ਪਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ),
ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਜੋਨਿ ਨ ਭਵੇ ॥
lakh cha-oraaseeh jon na bhavay.
he does not wander through millions of incarnations;
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਚੌਰਾਸੀ ਲੱਖ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਭਟਕਦਾ।
ਈਹਾਂ ਊਹਾਂ ਚਰਣ ਪੂਜਾਰੇ ॥
eehaaN oohaaN charan poojaaray.
he is respected both here and hereafter,
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਮੁਖੁ ਊਜਲੁ ਸਾਚੇ ਦਰਬਾਰੇ ॥੩॥
mukh oojal saachay darbaaray. ||3||
and is honored in God’s presence. ||3||
ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਰੌਸ਼ਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਜਿਸੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਧਰਿਆ ਹਾਥੁ ॥
jis mastak gur Dhari-aa haath.
That person whom the Guru blessed,
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੱਥ ਰੱਖਿਆ,
ਕੋਟਿ ਮਧੇ ਕੋ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਦਾਸੁ ॥
kot maDhay ko virlaa daas.
among millions, rare is a person who becomes God’s devotee,
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਪਰ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਪੇਖੈ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥
jal thal mahee-al paykhai bharpoor.
and visualizes God fully pervading in the water, land, and sky.
(ਫਿਰ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਧਰਸਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ॥੪॥੧੦॥
naanak uDhras tis jan kee Dhoor. ||4||10||
O’ Nanak, one swims across the worldly ocean of vices by the humble service of such a devotee. ||4||10||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਅਜਿਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਚਰਨ-ਧੂੜ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਭੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਹਿਂਗਾ ॥੪॥੧੦॥

Raag Prabhati, Fifth Guru:
ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ਜਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਅਪਨੇ ॥
kurbaan jaa-ee gur pooray apnay.
I dedicate myself to my perfect Guru,
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਉਸ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੁ ਜਪਨੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jis parsaad har har jap japnay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
by whose grace one can lovingly remember God. ||1||pause||
ਜਿਸ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੇ ਨਾਮ) ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਜਪਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਸੁਣਤ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥
amrit banee sunat nihaal.
The mind gets delighted by listening to the ambrosial words of God’s praises,
ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸੁਣਦਿਆਂ ਮਨ ਖਿੜ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਬਿਨਸਿ ਗਏ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਜੰਜਾਲ ॥੧॥
binas ga-ay bikhi-aa janjaal. ||1||
and the entanglements for the love for Maya get destroyed. ||1||
ਅਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ (ਦੇ ਮੋਹ) ਦੀਆਂ ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਸਾਚ ਸਬਦ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥
saach sabad si-o laagee pareet.
Love for the eternal God’s praises wells up through the Guru’s divine word,
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਆਇਆ ਚੀਤਿ ॥੨॥
har parabh apunaa aa-i-aa cheet. ||2||
and one’s own God manifests in the mind. ||2||
ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਹਰੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਹੋਆ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥
naam japat ho-aa pargaas.
By lovingly remembering God’s Name, mind gets enlightened with spiritual wisdom,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ (ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਦਾ) ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
