ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਰੂਪ ਚੇਰੀ ਕੀ ਨਿਆਈ ਸੋਭ ਨਹੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਭਰਤਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
istaree roop chayree kee ni-aa-ee sobh nahee bin bhartaaray. ||1||
I am weak like a woman and powerless like a maid who does not have any respect without her master. |1|
ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਵਾਂਗ (ਨਿਰਬਲ) ਹਾਂ, ਦਾਸੀ ਵਾਂਗ (ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ) ਹਾਂ। (ਇਸਤਰੀ) ਪਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸੋਭਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਂਦੀ ॥੧॥
ਬਿਨਉ ਸੁਨਿਓ ਜਬ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਮੇਰੈ ਬੇਗਿ ਆਇਓ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
bin-o suni-o jab thaakur mayrai bayg aa-i-o kirpaa Dhaaray.
O’ my friend, as soon as my Master God heard my prayer, showing mercy, He immediately manifested in my heart.
(ਹੇ ਸਖੀ!)ਜਦੋਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ (ਮੇਰੀ ਇਹ) ਬੇਨਤੀ ਸੁਣੀ, ਤਾਂ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਛੇਤੀ (ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਆ ਵੱਸਿਆ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਰੋ ਬਨਿਓ ਸੁਹਾਗੋ ਪਤਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਭਲੇ ਅਚਾਰੇ ॥੨॥੩॥੭॥
kaho naanak mayro bani-o suhaago pat sobhaa bhalay achaaray. ||2||3||7||
O’ Nanak, say, now I am united with my Master-God and feel like a fortunate wedded bride; I am blessed with respect, glory and good conduct.||2||3||7||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖ – ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੁਭਾਗਤਾ ਬਣ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਮਿਲ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੋਭਾ ਮਿਲ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੀ ਭਲੀ ਕਰਣੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੩॥੭॥

ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥
pareetam saachaa naam Dhi-aa-ay.
O’ brother, always remember the eternal Name of beloved God with adoration,
ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ।
ਦੂਖ ਦਰਦ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਭਵ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਬਸਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dookh darad binsai bhav saagar gur kee moorat ridai basaa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
keep the Guru’s word enshrined in your heart; by doing so, all pains and sorrows end, and one swims across the worldly ocean of vices. ||1||pause||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖ। (ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਹ ਉੱਦਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਕਲੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਦੁਸਮਨ ਹਤੇ ਦੋਖੀ ਸਭਿ ਵਿਆਪੇ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਆਇਆ ॥
dusman hatay dokhee sabh vi-aapay har sarnaa-ee aa-i-aa.
One who comes to God’s refuge, all his enemies are destroyed and all the slanderers are overwhelmed.
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਨਾਲ) ਵੈਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਈਰਖਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੈ ਹਾਥ ਦੇ ਰਾਖਿਓ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
raakhanhaarai haath day raakhi-o naam padaarath paa-i-aa. ||1||
God, the savior, has always protected him; and he has enshrined God’s precious Name in his heart.||1||
ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਸਭਿ ਕਾਟੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮਨਿ ਦੀਆ ॥
kar kirpaa kilvikh sabh kaatay naam nirmal man dee-aa.
O’ my friends, the human being in whose mind God has enshrined His immaculate Name, by grace, He has dispelled all his sins.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ) ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨਾਮ ਟਿਕਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕੱਟ ਦਿੱਤੇ।
ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਬਾਹੁੜਿ ਦੂਖ ਨ ਥੀਆ ॥੨॥੪॥੮॥
gun niDhaan naanak man vasi-aa baahurh dookh na thee-aa. ||2||4||8||
O’ Nanak, one in whose heart (God) the treasure of all virtues manifests, he does not bear any sorrow again. ||2||4||8||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆ ਵੱਸਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ ॥੨॥੪॥੮॥

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
parabh mayray pareetam paraan pi-aaray.
O’ God, the beloved, You are dearer to me than my life breath,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਤੋਂ ਪਿਆਰੇ!
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਅਪਨੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਦਇਆਲ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਧਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
paraym bhagat apno naam deejai da-i-aal anoograhu Dhaaray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
bestow mercy, please bless me with Your devotional worship and Your immaculate Name. ||1||Pause||
(ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੇਹ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੇਹ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਿਮਰਉ ਚਰਨ ਤੁਹਾਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਰਿਦੈ ਤੁਹਾਰੀ ਆਸਾ ॥
simra-o charan tuhaaray pareetam ridai tuhaaree aasaa.
O’ God, bless me that I may keep remembering Your Name with adoration, and that I may continue to have yearning for Your Name in my heart.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਸ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹੀ।
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਪਹਿ ਕਰਉ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਮਨਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀ ਪਿਆਸਾ ॥੧॥
sant janaa peh kara-o bayntee man darsan kee pi-aasaa. ||1||
I keep begging before the saintly people, (telling them to help me visualize You), because I have a great craving for Your blessed vision in my mind. ||1||
ਮੈਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਪਾਸ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ (ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਾ ਦੇਣ, ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਤੇਰੇ) ਦਰਸਨ ਦੀ ਬੜੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਬਿਛੁਰਤ ਮਰਨੁ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲਤੇ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ ॥
bichhurat maran jeevan har miltay jan ka-o darsan deejai.
O’ God, for me, separation from You is spiritual death and union with You is spiritual life; please bless Your humble devotee with divine vision.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੈਥੋਂ ਵਿਛੁੜਿਆਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਨ ਦੇਹ।
ਨਾਮ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਜੀਵਨ ਧਨੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਜੈ ॥੨॥੫॥੯॥
naam aDhaar jeevan Dhan naanak parabh mayray kirpaa keejai. ||2||5||9||
O’ Nanak, say: O’ my Master-God, with Your grace bless me with the support of Your Name; this alone is the spiritual wealth of my life.||2||5||9||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ, ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਰਹੇ, ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ) ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ॥੨॥੫॥੯॥

ਅਬ ਅਪਨੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਿਉ ਬਨਿ ਆਈ ॥
ab apnay pareetam si-o ban aa-ee.
Now I am in love with my beloved God,
ਹੁਣ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਰਾਜਾ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਮਤ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਓ ਬਰਸੁ ਮੇਘ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
raajaa raam ramat sukh paa-i-o baras maygh sukh-daa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and I have attained inner peace by lovingly remembering God’s Name: O’ my bliss-giving Guru, keep raining your peace giving divine word. ||1||pause||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਮੈਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਗੁਰੂ! ਹੇ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਰੂ! (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ) ਵਰਖਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ।
ਇਕੁ ਪਲੁ ਬਿਸਰਤ ਨਹੀ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਵੈ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
ik pal bisrat nahee sukh saagar naam navai niDh paa-ee.
I have enshrined God’s Name, which for me is the world’s nine treasures; now I do not forsake God, the ocean of bliss, even for a moment.
ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ (ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ) ਨੌ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਹੈ। ਹੁਣ ਉਹ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਇਕ ਪਲ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੁੱਲਦਾ।
ਉਦੌਤੁ ਭਇਓ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਾਵੀ ਕੋ ਭੇਟੇ ਸੰਤ ਸਹਾਈ ॥੧॥
udout bha-i-o pooran bhaavee ko bhaytay sant sahaa-ee. ||1||
Ever since I have met with the helpful saint-Guru, God’s will has fully enlightened me. ||1||
ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਗੁਰੂ-ਸੰਤ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ, (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ) ਰਜ਼ਾ ਦਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਕਾਸ਼ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸੁਖ ਉਪਜੇ ਦੁਖ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਨਾਸੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥
sukh upjay dukh sagal binaasay paarbarahm liv laa-ee.
With the grace of the Guru, I have attuned my mind to the all-pervading God; now inner peace has welled up in me, and all my sorrows have vanished.
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼-ਮੀਂਹ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜ ਲਈ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੁਖ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਤੇ, ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
ਤਰਿਓ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਕਠਿਨ ਭੈ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਚਰਨ ਧਿਆਈ ॥੨॥੬॥੧੦॥
tari-o sansaar kathin bhai saagar har naanak charan Dhi-aa-ee. ||2||6||10||
O’ Nanak, by remembering God’s Name with adoration, I have crossed over the dreadful world-ocean of vices. ||2||6||10||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤਰਨਾ ਔਖਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਜੋ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਡਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੬॥੧੦॥

Raag Malaar, Fifth Guru:
ਘਨਿਹਰ ਬਰਸਿ ਸਗਲ ਜਗੁ ਛਾਇਆ ॥
ghanihar baras sagal jag chhaa-i-aa.
O’ my friends, like the rain from the clouds, the Guru’s Divine word is spreading all over the world. ||1||pause||
ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ) ਵਰਖਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਉੱਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਪਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਭਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ਅਨਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bha-ay kirpaal pareetam parabh mayray anad mangal sukh paa-i-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
But only the one on whom my beloved God becomes merciful, is blessed with joy, bliss and inner peace.||1||pause||
(ਪਰ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ) ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਆਨੰਦ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮਿਟੇ ਕਲੇਸ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਸਭ ਬੂਝੀ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
mitay kalays tarisan sabh boojhee paarbarahm man Dhi-aa-i-aa.
The person who remembers the all-pervading God with adoration in his mind, all his sorrows are dispelled and his yearning for worldly riches gets quenched.
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ; ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਪਿਆਸ ਬੁੱਝ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਕਤਹੂ ਧਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
saaDhsang janam maran nivaaray bahur na kathoo Dhaa-i-aa. ||1||
By staying in the company of the holy persons, he is freed from the cycle of birth and death, and does not wander in other existences again.||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਹੋਰ ਪਾਸੇ ਵਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਭਟਕਦਾ ॥੧॥
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨਿ ਰਾਤਉ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
man tan naam niranjan raata-o charan kamal liv laa-i-aa.
His mind and body are imbued with the love of the immaculate God and he remains attuned to God’s Name.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਤਨ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ (-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ) ਰੰਗਿਆ ਗਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜ ਲਈ,
ਅੰਗੀਕਾਰੁ ਕੀਓ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਨੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਸਰਣਾਇਆ ॥੨॥੭॥੧੧॥

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪਿਆ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕੀਤੀ ॥੨॥੭॥੧੧॥

Raag Malaar, Fifth Guru:
ਬਿਛੁਰਤ ਕਿਉ ਜੀਵੇ ਓਇ ਜੀਵਨ ॥
bichhurat ki-o jeevay o-ay jeevan.
O’ God, how could they live a life of separation from You,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਜੀਊ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਚਿਤਹਿ ਉਲਾਸ ਆਸ ਮਿਲਬੇ ਕੀ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਰਸ ਪੀਵਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
chiteh ulaas aas milbay kee charan kamal ras peevan. ||1|| rahaa-o.
who have yearnings and hopes in their minds to realize You and drink in the sublime essence of Your immaculate Name. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ) ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਨੂੰ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ-ਕਮਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਪੀਣ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਹੈ , ਤਾਂਘ ਹੈ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਪਿਆਸ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਅੰਤਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
jin ka-o pi-aas tumaaree pareetam tin ka-o antar naahee.
O’ Beloved God, those who have cravings for Your Name are not distant from You.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਦੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਵਿੱਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਮੇਰੋ ਰਾਮੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸੇ ਮੂਏ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਂਹੀਂ ॥੧॥
jin ka-o bisrai mayro raam pi-aaraa say moo-ay mar jaaNheeN. ||1||
Those human beings, who forget my Beloved God, remain spiritually dead and are like corpses. ||1||
ਪਰ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮੁਰਦੇ ਦੀ ਮਾਨੰਦ ਹਨ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤੇ ਮਰੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ॥੧॥
