ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਚਰਨ ਲਾਗੇ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਤਿਆਗੇ ਗੁਰ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਭਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਲਬਧਿ ਅਪਨੀ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥
santan kai charan laagay kaam kroDh lobh ti-aagay gur gopaal bha-ay kirpaal labaDh apnee paa-ee. ||1||
Those who perform humble service to the holy people, and shed their lust, anger and greed, the divine-Guru became merciful and they realized God’s Name which they had been seeking for many births.||1||
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ (ਆਦਿਕ ਵਿਕਾਰ) ਛੱਡਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ-ਗੋਪਾਲ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਉਹ ਨਾਮ-ਵਸਤੂ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ (ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਭਾਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਆ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ॥੧॥
ਬਿਨਸੇ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਮੋਹ ਅੰਧ ਟੂਟੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਬੰਧ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਰਬਤ੍ਰ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਨਹ ਕੋਊ ਬੈਰਾਈ ॥
binsay bharam moh anDh tootay maa-i-aa kay banDh pooran sarbatar thaakur nah ko-oo bairaa-ee.
Their darkness of delusion and attachments vanish; their bonds of attachments to worldly riches break; God appears to them pervading everywhere, and no one seems enemy to them.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਭਰਮ ਅਤੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਭਨੀਂ ਥਾਈਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੈਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਪਦਾ,
ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਭਏ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੋਖ ਗਏ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਚਰਨ ਲਾਗਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਈ ॥੨॥੩॥੧੩੨॥
su-aamee suparsan bha-ay janam maran dokh ga-ay santan kai charan laag naanak gun gaa-ee. ||2||3||132||
O’ Nanak, those human beings who keep on singing God’s praises in the company of the holy people, God becomes pleased with them; their cycle of birth and death and all their sins come to an end. ||2||3||132||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਤ੍ਰੁੱਠ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਪ ਸਭ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥੩॥੧੩੨॥

Raag Sarang, Fifth Guru:
ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਮੁਖਹੁ ਬੋਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ਮਨਿ ਧਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har haray har mukhahu bol har haray man Dhaaray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ my friend, always recite God’s Name with your tongue and keep it enshrined in your mind. ||1||Pause||
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਉਚਾਰਿਆ ਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ਸੁਨਨ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਨ ਅਨਿਕ ਪਾਤਿਕ ਪੁਨਹਚਰਨ ॥
sarvan sunan bhagat karan anik paatik punahcharan.
Listening to God’s Name with one’s ears and worshiping God are the only religious acts of repentance done to remove the past many sins.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਕੰਨੀਂ ਸੁਣਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨੀ-ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਪਛੁਤਾਵੇ-ਮਾਤ੍ਰ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਕਰਮ;
ਸਰਨ ਪਰਨ ਸਾਧੂ ਆਨ ਬਾਨਿ ਬਿਸਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
saran paran saaDhoo aan baan bisaaray. ||1||
By staying in the Guru’s refuge and following his teachings, removes all other bad habits. ||1||.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨੀ ਪਏ ਰਹਿਣਾ-ਇਹ ਉੱਦਮ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ (ਭੈੜੀਆਂ) ਆਦਤਾਂ (ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਚਰਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨੀਤ ਨੀਤਿ ਪਾਵਨਾ ਮਹਿ ਮਹਾ ਪੁਨੀਤ ॥
har charan pareet neet neet paavnaa meh mahaa puneet.
To remember God’s Name every day and imbue ourselves with His love is the most immaculate deed of all good deeds,
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਣਾ-ਇਹ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਬਣਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੇਵਕ ਭੈ ਦੂਰਿ ਕਰਨ ਕਲਿਮਲ ਦੋਖ ਜਾਰੇ ॥
sayvak bhai door karan kalimal dokh jaaray.
it dispels all the fears of the devotee and burns down all his sins and vices.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ, ਸੇਵਕ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਸਾੜ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਕਹਤ ਮੁਕਤ ਸੁਨਤ ਮੁਕਤ ਰਹਤ ਜਨਮ ਰਹਤੇ ॥
kahat mukat sunat mukat rahat janam rahtay.
All those who recite and listen to God’s Name with devotion, become free from the vices and are saved from the cycle of birth and death.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸੁਚੱਜੀ ਰਹਿਣੀ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਸਾਰ ਭੂਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ॥੨॥੪॥੧੩੩॥
raam raam saar bhoot naanak tat beechaaray. ||2||4||133||
O’ my friends, therefore, Nanak concludes that remembering God’s Name is the most sublime deed of all. ||2||4||133||
ਨਾਨਕ (ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਹ) ਨਿਚੋੜ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੪॥੧੩੩॥

Raag Saarang, Fifth Guru:
ਨਾਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਮਾਗੁ ਸੰਤ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਸਗਲ ਕਾਮੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
naam bhagat maag sant ti-aag sagal kaamee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ my brother, shedding all other desires, ask for God’s devotional worship and Name from the saint-Guru. ||1||Pause||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਹਰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ (ਭੀ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਾਇ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ਗੁਨ ਗੋੁਬਿੰਦ ਸਦਾ ਗਾਇ ॥
pareet laa-ay har Dhi-aa-ay gun gobind sadaa gaa-ay.
With love and devotion, focus on God of the universe and always sing His praises.
ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਿਆ ਕਰ, ਸਦਾ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰ।
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਰੇਨ ਬਾਂਛੁ ਦੈਨਹਾਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥੧॥
har jan kee rayn baaNchh dainhaar su-aamee. ||1||
Keep begging for the humble service of the saintly persons from the Master- God, the benefactor.||1||
ਉਸ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਦੇ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰ ॥੧॥
ਸਰਬ ਕੁਸਲ ਸੁਖ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮ ਆਨਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਨਾਮ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਕਛੁ ਨਾਹਿ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥
sarab kusal sukh bisraam aandaa aanand naam jam kee kachh naahi taraas simar antarjaamee.
God’s Name is the source of all happiness, comforts, peace and bliss; by remembering the omniscient God, one’s fear of the demon of death is dispelled.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਦਾ, ਸਾਰੇ ਆਨੰਦਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੋਮਾ ਹੈ। ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ, ਜਮਾਂ ਦਾ (ਭੀ) ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ।
ਏਕ ਸਰਨ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਚਰਨ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਗਲ ਤਾਪ ਹਰਨ ॥
ayk saran gobind charan sansaar sagal taap haran.
The refuge of God’s immaculate Name is capable of removing all of the worldly sorrows and sufferings.
ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਜੋਗੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਵ ਰੂਪ ਸਾਧਸੰਗ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਰਗਰਾਮੀ ॥੨॥੫॥੧੩੪॥
naav roop saaDhsang naanak paargaraamee. ||2||5||134||
O’ Nanak, the congregation of the holy persons is like a boat for crossing over the world-ocean of vices.||2||5||134||
ਤੇ ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਬੇੜੀ ਵਾਂਗ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੫॥੧੩੪॥

Raag Sarang, Fifth Guru:
ਗੁਨ ਲਾਲ ਗਾਵਉ ਗੁਰ ਦੇਖੇ ॥
gun laal gaava-o gur daykhay.
When I sing my God’s praises by following the Guru’s teachings,
ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਪੰਚਾ ਤੇ ਏਕੁ ਛੂਟਾ ਜਉ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਪਗ ਰਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
panchaa tay ayk chhootaa ja-o saaDhsang pag ra-o. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and remember God’s Name in the company of the Guru, then my mind gets liberated from the five evils (lust, anger, greed, etc,) .||1||Pause||
ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ) ਫੜਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ (ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ) ਪੰਜਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਕਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਉ ਕਛੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਮਾਨੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਮੋਹਾ ॥
darisat-a-o kachh sang na jaa-ay maan ti-aag mohaa.
Whatever is visible in the world, nothing out of this accompanies one in the end, therefore, renounce your ego and attachment to it.
(ਇਹ ਜੋ) ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਜਗਤ (ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਕੁਝ ਭੀ (ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ) ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਇਸ ਦਾ) ਮਾਣ ਤੇ ਮੋਹ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਹ।
ਏਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਾਇ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਸੋਹਾ ॥੧॥
aykai har pareet laa-ay mil saaDhsang sohaa. ||1||
Joining the company of holy persons, develop love for the immaculate Name of God; in this way, life becomes beautiful. ||1||
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਜੋੜ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੀਵਨ) ਸੋਹਣਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਪਾਇਓ ਹੈ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਸਗਲ ਆਸ ਪੂਰੀ ॥
paa-i-o hai gun niDhaan sagal aas pooree.
I have realized God, the treasure of virtues and all my hopes have been fulfilled.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਮੈਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਆਸ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਅਨੰਦ ਭਏ ਗੁਰਿ ਬਿਖਮ ਗਾਰ੍ਹ ਤੋਰੀ ॥੨॥੬॥੧੩੫॥
naanak man anand bha-ay gur bikham gaarah toree. ||2||6||135||
O’ Nanak, the Guru has untied the difficult knot of the love for materialism and now there is nothing but bliss in my mind. ||2||6||135||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ) ਕਰੜੀ ਗੰਢ ਖੋਹਲ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਨੰਦ ਹੀ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣ ਗਏ ਹਨ ॥੨॥੬॥੧੩੫॥

ਮਨਿ ਬਿਰਾਗੈਗੀ ॥ ਖੋਜਤੀ ਦਰਸਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
man biraagaigee. khojtee darsaar. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ my friend, my mind is becoming detached from the worldly affairs, and I keep yearning for the blessed vision of my beloved God. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਸਖੀ! ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵੈਰਾਗ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ) ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਦੀ ਕਰਦੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ (ਵੈਰਾਗਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਤਨ ਸੇਵਿ ਕੈ ਪ੍ਰਿਉ ਹੀਅਰੈ ਧਿਆਇਓ ॥
saaDhoo santan sayv kai pari-o hee-arai Dhi-aa-i-o.
By performing humble service to the holy people, and with their blessings, I remember God in my mind;
ਹੇ ਸਖੀ! ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਮੈਂ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਆਨੰਦ ਰੂਪੀ ਪੇਖਿ ਕੈ ਹਉ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਵਉਗੀ ॥੧॥
aanand roopee paykh kai ha-o mahal paav-ogee. ||1||
and now by visualizing God, the embodiment of bliss, I would obtain (entry) into His palace and get united with Him ||1||
ਤੇ, ਉਸ ਆਨੰਦ-ਸਰੂਪ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਕਾਮ ਕਰੀ ਸਭ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਕੈ ਹਉ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰਉਗੀ ॥
kaam karee sabh ti-aag kai ha-o saran par-ugee.
After abandoning all attachments to the worldly affairs, I would remain in God’s refuge.
ਹੇ ਸਖੀ! (ਜਗਤ ਦੇ) ਕੰਮ-ਧੰਧਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਮੋਹ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਈ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹਾਂ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਗਰਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਹਉ ਗੁਰ ਮਨਾਵਉਗੀ ॥੨॥੭॥੧੩੬॥
naanak su-aamee gar milay ha-o gur manaav-ugee. ||2||7||136||
O’ Nanak, when my Master keeps in His embrace, I would thank him in my mind for uniting me with my Beloved. ||2||7||136||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਜਿਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਗਲ ਨਾਲ ਆ ਲੱਗੇ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ (ਉਸ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹਾਂ ॥੨॥੭॥੧੩੬॥

Raag Sarang, Fifth Guru:
ਐਸੀ ਹੋਇ ਪਰੀ ॥
aisee ho-ay paree.
O’ my friends, such has become the state of my mind,
(ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਹਾਲਤ) ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ,
ਜਾਨਤੇ ਦਇਆਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jaantay da-i-aar. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and only the merciful God knows it. ||1||Pause||
(ਤੇ, ਇਸ ਹਾਲਤ ਨੂੰ) ਦਇਆਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਆਪ) ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮਾਤਰ ਪਿਤਰ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਕੈ ਮਨੁ ਸੰਤਨ ਪਾਹਿ ਬੇਚਾਇਓ ॥
maatar pitar ti-aag kai man santan paahi baychaa-i-o.
I have relinquished my attachments to worldly affairs, including my parents and relatives, and have dedicated my mind to the service of the holy people.
ਮਾਤਾ ਪਿਤਾ (ਆਦਿਕ ਸੰਬੰਧੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ) ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਾਤਿ ਜਨਮ ਕੁਲ ਖੋਈਐ ਹਉ ਗਾਵਉ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੀ ॥੧॥
jaat janam kul kho-ee-ai ha-o gaava-o har haree. ||1||
I have given up my pride of my caste (social status) and ancestry; now I always sing only the glorious praises of God. ||1||
ਮੈਂ (ਉੱਚੀ) ਜਾਤਿ ਕੁਲ ਜਨਮ (ਦਾ ਮਾਣ) ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਲੋਕ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਤੇ ਟੂਟੀਐ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਤਿ ਕਿਰਤਿ ਕਰੀ ॥
lok kutamb tay tootee-ai parabh kirat kirat karee.
I am now detached from my family and other people, and God has made me blissful.
ਮੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਟੁੱਟ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਿ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਉਪਦੇਸਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇਵਿ ਏਕ ਹਰੀ ॥੨॥੮॥੧੩੭॥
gur mo ka-o updaysi-aa naanak sayv ayk haree. ||2||8||137||
O’ Nanak, the Guru has taught me to always remain in the refuge of the one God. ||2||8||137||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਦਾ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹੁ ॥੨॥੮॥੧੩੭॥
