ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਮਨਮੋਹਨ ਲਾਲਨ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ਸਰਬਾਂਗੈ ॥
gun niDhaan manmohan laalan sukh-daa-ee sarbaaNgai.
O’ the treasure of virtues, the enticer of hearts,O’ my beloved pervading in all and giver of inner peace to all;
ਹੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ! ਹੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਹਣ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਲਾਲ! ਹੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ!
ਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਾਹਿ ਪਠਾਇਓ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਸਖਾ ਗਲਿ ਲਾਗੈ ॥੨॥੫॥੨੮॥
gur naanak parabh paahi pathaa-i-o milhu sakhaa gal laagai. ||2||5||28||
O’ God, the Guru has sent Nanak (me) to You; O’ my dear friend, meet me and keep me very close to You. ||2||5||28||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਨਕ (ਨੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਤੇਰੇ) ਪਾਸ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗਲ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਮਿਲ ॥੨॥੫॥੨੮॥

Raag Sarang, Fifth Guru:
ਅਬ ਮੋਰੋ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਸਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਾਂ ॥
ab moro thaakur si-o man maanaaN.
Now my mind is appeased with my Master-God.
ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ (ਸਦਾ) ਗਿੱਝਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਧ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਦਇਆਲ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਇਹੁ ਛੇਦਿਓ ਦੁਸਟੁ ਬਿਗਾਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saaDh kirpaal da-i-aal bha-ay hai ih chhaydi-o dusat bigaanaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
When the saintly people became kind to me, then I destroyed the demon (evil thought) of duality. ||1||Pause||
ਜਦੋਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਤ੍ਰੁੱਠ ਪਏ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋਏ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਇਹ ਭੈੜਾ ਓਪਰਾ-ਪਨ ਕੱਟ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਤੁਮਹਿ ਸਿਆਨੇ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਸੁਘਰ ਸੁਜਾਨਾ ॥
tum hee sundar tumeh si-aanay tum hee sughar sujaanaa.
O’ God, for me, You are beauteous, You are truly wise and truly omniscient.
ਹੁਣ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਜਾਪਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਘਾੜਤ ਵਾਲਾ ਤੇ ਸੁਜਾਨ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਸਗਲ ਜੋਗ ਅਰੁ ਗਿਆਨ ਧਿਆਨ ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਜਾਨਾਂ ॥੧॥
sagal jog ar gi-aan Dhi-aan ik nimakh na keemat jaanaaN. ||1||
O’ God, all those Yogis, spiritual teachers and meditators have not understood Your worth even for a moment. ||1||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੋਗ-ਸਾਧਨ, ਗਿਆਨ-ਚਰਚਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਧੀਆਂ ਲਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ-ਇਹਨਾਂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਨੇ, ਅੱਖ ਝਮਕਣ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਕਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝੀ ॥੧॥
ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਨਾਇਕ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਹਿ ਛਤ੍ਰਪਤਿ ਤੁਮ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹੇ ਭਗਵਾਨਾ ॥
tum hee naa-ik tumHahi chhatarpat tum poor rahay bhagvaanaa.
O’ God, You are the Master, the king under the royal canopy and You are pervading everywhere.
ਹੇ ਭਗਵਾਨ! ਤੂੰ ਹੀ (ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ) ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ (ਸਭ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਦਾ) ਰਾਜਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈਂ।
ਪਾਵਉ ਦਾਨੁ ਸੰਤ ਸੇਵਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਨਾਂ ॥੨॥੬॥੨੯॥
paava-o daan sant sayvaa har naanak sad kurbaanaaN. ||2||6||29||
O’ Nanak! say, O’ God! bless me that I may receive from You the gift of the service to Saints and may always remain dedicated to them. ||2||6||29||
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! (ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ, ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਮੈਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਦਾ ਖੈਰ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਵਾਂ ॥੨॥੬॥੨੯॥

Raag Sarang, Fifth Guru:
ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਚੀਤਿ ਆਏ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਰੰਗਾ ॥
mayrai man cheet aa-ay pari-a rangaa.
Since the time the thoughts about the wonders of the beloved God have come into my conscious mind,
(ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ) ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਕੌਤਕ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸੇ ਹਨ,
ਬਿਸਰਿਓ ਧੰਧੁ ਬੰਧੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੋ ਰਜਨਿ ਸਬਾਈ ਜੰਗਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bisri-o DhanDh banDh maa-i-aa ko rajan sabaa-ee jangaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
I have forgotten the affairs and bonds of Maya, and I spend my night (life) battling with evil. ||1||Pause||
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੀ ਭਟਕਣ ਭੁੱਲ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ-ਰਾਤ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ) ਜੰਗ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਬੀਤ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਉ ਹਰਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਬਸਾਵਉ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਤਸੰਗਾ ॥
har sayva-o har ridai basaava-o har paa-i-aa satsangaa.
Since the time I have realized God in the saintly congregation, I keep Him enshrined in my heart and remember Him with adoration.
ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਐਸੋ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਮਨੋਹਰੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਏ ਮੁਖ ਮੰਗਾ ॥੧॥
aiso mili-o manohar pareetam sukh paa-ay mukh mangaa. ||1||
I have realized such a heart-captivating beloved God, that I have attained the inner peace for which I have been praying for. ||1||
ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਹਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਮੂੰਹ-ਮੰਗੇ ਸੁਖ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਏ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਪ੍ਰਿਉ ਅਪਨਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਬਸਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨਾ ਭੋਗਉ ਭੋਗ ਨਿਸੰਗਾ ॥
pari-o apnaa gur bas kar deenaa bhoga-o bhog nisangaa.
The Guru has brought my beloved God under the control of my love for Him, and now I enjoy His company without any reservations.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮੇਰੇ (ਪਿਆਰ ਦੇ) ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ (ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕਾਂ ਦੀ) ਰੁਕਾਵਟ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਭਏ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਉ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਓ ਪਾਠੰਗਾ ॥੨॥੭॥੩੦॥
nirbha-o bha-ay naanak bha-o miti-aa har paa-i-o faathangaa. ||2||7||30||
O Nanak, I have become fearless, my fears have been eradicated because I have realized God by reciting Gurbani the divine word. ||2||7||30||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੈਂ (ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਆਸਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਡਰ ਮਿਟ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ (ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਤਰੇ ਤੋਂ) ਨਿਡਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ ॥੨॥੭॥੩੦॥

ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਕੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਉ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੀ ॥
har jee-o kay darsan ka-o kurbaanee.
I am dedicated to the blessed vision of the esteemed God,
ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ।
ਬਚਨ ਨਾਦ ਮੇਰੇ ਸ੍ਰਵਨਹੁ ਪੂਰੇ ਦੇਹਾ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਅੰਕਿ ਸਮਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bachan naad mayray saravnahu pooray dayhaa pari-a ank samaanee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
the melody of the divine words of His praises always keep playing in my ears, and I feel as if my body always remain settled in His lap. ||1||Pause||
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਰੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮੇਰਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਗੋਦ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਛੂਟਰਿ ਤੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਈ ਸੋੁਹਾਗਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਓ ਸੁਘੜ ਸੁਜਾਨੀ ॥
chhootar tay gur kee-ee sohaagan har paa-i-o sugharh sujaanee.
From an unfortunate, the Guru has made me a fortunate bride and I have realized the wise and omniscient God.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਛੁੱਟੜ ਤੋਂ ਸੁਹਾਗਣ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਘਾੜਤ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੁਜਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਹ ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਬੈਸਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਵਤ ਸੋ ਥਾਨੁ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਬਾਸਾਨੀ ॥੧॥
jih ghar meh baisan nahee paavat so thaan mili-o baasaanee. ||1||
My mind has found a place in my heart, the place where it never settled before. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ (ਹਰਿ-ਚਰਨ-) ਥਾਂ ਵੱਸਣ ਲਈ ਮਿਲ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਥਾਂ ਤੇ (ਅੱਗੇ ਇਹ ਕਦੇ) ਟਿਕਦਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ॥੧॥
ਉਨ੍ ਕੈ ਬਸਿ ਆਇਓ ਭਗਤਿ ਬਛਲੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਰਾਖੀ ਆਨ ਸੰਤਾਨੀ ॥
unH kai bas aa-i-o bhagat bachhal jin raakhee aan santaanee.
God, the lover of devotional worship, has come under the control of those saints whose honor He has always protected.
ਭਗਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ (ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ) ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਲਾਜ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਆਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਸਭ ਚੂਕੀ ਕਾਣਿ ਲੋੁਕਾਨੀ ॥੨॥੮॥੩੧॥
kaho naanak har sang man maani-aa sabh chookee kaan lokaanee. ||2||8||31||
O’ Nanak! say, my mind is pleased and appeased with God, and my dependence on other people has ended. ||2||8||31||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਗਿੱਝ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੁਥਾਜੀ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਈ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੮॥੩੧॥

Raag Saarang, Fifth Guru:
ਅਬ ਮੇਰੋ ਪੰਚਾ ਤੇ ਸੰਗੁ ਤੂਟਾ ॥
ab mayro panchaa tay sang tootaa.
Now my association with the five demons (lust, anger, greed, attachment, and ego) has come to an end,
ਹੁਣ (ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ) ਪੰਜਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਥ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਭਏ ਮਨਿ ਆਨਦ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਛੂਟਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
darsan daykh bha-ay man aanad gur kirpaa tay chhootaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
because by experiencing the blessed vision of God, bliss has welled up in my mind, and I have been emancipated. ||1||Pause||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਬਣ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਸੁਤੰਤਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਬਿਖਮ ਥਾਨ ਬਹੁਤ ਬਹੁ ਧਰੀਆ ਅਨਿਕ ਰਾਖ ਸੂਰੂਟਾ ॥
bikham thaan bahut baho Dharee-aa anik raakh soorootaa.
The treasures of precious Naam are placed inside the fort-like body which is very difficult to reach because it is guarded by innumerable warriors (evil impulses).
ਜਿਸ ਥਾਂ ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਧਰੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ, ਉਥੇ ਅੱਪੜਨਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਔਖਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਸੂਰਮੇ (ਰਾਹ ਵਿਚ) ਰਾਖੇ ਬਣੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ ।
ਬਿਖਮ ਗਾਰ੍ਹ ਕਰੁ ਪਹੁਚੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਸੰਤ ਸਾਨਥ ਭਏ ਲੂਟਾ ॥੧॥
bikham gaarah kar pahuchai naahee sant saanath bha-ay lootaa. ||1||
This fort is unreachable because it is surrounded by a trench of Maya which is difficult to cross, but I conquered it when saints became my companions. ||1||
(ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦੁਆਲੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ) ਬੜੀ ਔਖੀ ਖਾਈ ਬਣੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ, (ਉਸ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਤਕ) ਹੱਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਪਹੁੰਚਦਾ। ਜਦੋਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਥੀ ਬਣ ਗਏ, (ਉਹ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ) ਲੁੱਟ ਲਿਆ ॥੧॥
ਬਹੁਤੁ ਖਜਾਨੇ ਮੇਰੈ ਪਾਲੈ ਪਰਿਆ ਅਮੋਲ ਲਾਲ ਆਖੂਟਾ ॥
bahut khajaanay mayrai paalai pari-aa amol laal aakhootaa.
I found many jewel-like precious and inexhaustible treasures of Naam.
ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਅਮੋਲਕ ਤੇ ਅਮੁੱਕ ਲਾਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਗਏ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਤਉ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਘੂਟਾ ॥੨॥੯॥੩੨॥
jan naanak parabh kirpaa Dhaaree ta-o man meh har ras ghootaa. ||2||9||32||
O’ devotee Nanak, when God bestowed mercy, then my mind started drinking the sublime essence of God’s Name. ||2||9||32||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ, ਤਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਪੀਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਿਆ ॥੨॥੯॥੩੨॥

Now my mind has become one with my Master-God.
ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਠਾਕੁਰ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਇਕ-ਮਿਕ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਦਾਨੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਦੀਆ ਉਰਝਾਇਓ ਜਿਉ ਜਲ ਮੀਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
paraan daan gur poorai dee-aa urjhaa-i-o ji-o jal meenaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The perfect Guru has given me the gift of spiritual life and has united me with God like fish in water. ||1||Pause||
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਇਉਂ ਜੋੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮੱਛੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮਦ ਮਤਸਰ ਇਹ ਅਰਪਿ ਸਗਲ ਦਾਨੁ ਕੀਨਾ ॥
kaam kroDh lobh mad matsar ih arap sagal daan keenaa.
I discarded the lust, anger, greed, egotism and envy forever,
ਮੈਂ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਹਉਮੈ ਈਰਖਾ (ਆਦਿਕ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ) ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਕੱਢ ਦਿੱਤੇ,
ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇ ਹਰਿ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਓ ਤਉ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਸਗਲ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨਾ ॥੧॥
mantar drirh-aa-ay har a-ukhaDh gur dee-o ta-o mili-o sagal parbeenaa. ||1||
when the Guru gave me the medicine of God’s Name, after firmly implanting his teachings within me and I realized the all proficient God. ||1||
ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਆਪਣਾ) ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਵਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਗ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੂ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਹਉ ਖੋਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੀਨਾ ॥
garihu tayraa too thaakur mayraa gur ha-o kho-ee parabh deenaa.
O’ God, the Guru has removed my ego and has united me with You, now You are my Master and this heart of mine is Your abode.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਹੁਣ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਘਰ ਹੈ, ।
