ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ਸਚੋ ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੧੮॥੧੯॥
naanak naam ratay veechaaree sacho sach kamaavani-aa. ||8||18||19||
O’ Nanak, they who are imbued with God’s Name are truly wise, and they practice and earn only Truth (by always remembering God).
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਹਨ, ਡੂੰਘੇ ਵੀਚਾਰਵਾਨ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ

Maajh Raag, by the Third Guru:
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸਬਦੁ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੈ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
nirmal sabad nirmal hai banee.
Immaculate is the Divine word and its utterance.
ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਣ ਪਾਵਨ ਹੈ
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਭ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥
nirmal jot sabh maahi samaanee.
The Divine Light which is pervading among all is Immaculate.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਬਾਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮੈਲੁ ਗਵਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
nirmal banee har saalaahee jap har nirmal mail gavaavni-aa. ||1||
I sing the praises of God through the immaculate divine word,. By meditating on God, one becomes pure and the filth of vices is washed off.
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਮੈਲ (ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲਈਦੀ ਹੈ
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
ha-o vaaree jee-o vaaree sukh-daata man vasaavani-aa.
I dedicate myself, to those who enshrine the peace giving God in their mind.
ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ, ਜੇਹੜੇ ਸੁੱਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਲਾਹੀ ਸਬਦੋ ਸੁਣਿ ਤਿਸਾ ਮਿਟਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har nirmal gur sabad salaahee sabdo sun tisaa mitaavni-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
I sing the praises of the immaculate God through the Guru’s word. I eradicate the the desires for worldly riches just by listening to the Guru’s word.
ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਹੀ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਮਿਟਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਆਏ ॥
nirmal naam vasi-aa man aa-ay.
The one in whose mind the Immaculate Naam comes to dwell,
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥
man tan nirmal maa-i-aa moh gavaa-ay.
his mind and body become Immaculate, and he eradicates love for Maya.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਤਨ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਉਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਨਿਤ ਸਾਚੇ ਕੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਦੁ ਵਜਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
nirmal gun gaavai nit saachay kay nirmal naad vajaavani-aa. ||2||
He sings the pure praises of the eternal God as if he is playing the divine melody.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਗੁਣ ਸਦਾ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਨਾਦ ਵਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
nirmal amrit gur tay paa-i-aa.
The one who has obtained the Immaculate Ambrosial Nectar from the Guru,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ,
ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਮੁਆ ਤਿਥੈ ਮੋਹੁ ਨ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
vichahu aap mu-aa tithai moh na maa-i-aa.
his sense of self-conceit disappears and no attachment for Maya is left.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ।
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਅਤਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਬਾਣੀ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
nirmal gi-aan Dhi-aan at nirmal nirmal banee man vasaavani-aa. ||3||
One who enshrines the Guru’s Immaculate word in the mind, immaculate is his spiritual wisdom, and utterly immaculate is his meditation on God’s Name.
ਪਾਵਨ ਹੈ ਈਸ਼ਵਰੀ ਗਿਆਤ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਮ ਪਾਵਨ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਜੋ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਸੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
jo nirmal sayvay so nirmal hovai.
The one who lovingly meditates on the Immaculate God becomes immaculate.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਆਪ ਭੀ) ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਉਮੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੇ ਧੋਵੈ ॥
ha-umai mail gur sabday Dhovai.
By acting on the Guru’s Word, he washes off the dirt of ego.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ (ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਧੋ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਵਾਜੈ ਅਨਹਦ ਧੁਨਿ ਬਾਣੀ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
nirmal vaajai anhad Dhun banee dar sachai sobhaa paavni-aa. ||4||
Within him vibrates the continuous melody of Divine word and he obtains honor in God’s court.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਅਖੰਡ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਆਲਾਪਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਸੱਚੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
nirmal tay sabh nirmal hovai.
Through the Immaculate God, all become immaculate.
ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਛੁਹ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੀ ਲੁਕਾਈ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਰੋਵੈ ॥
nirmal manoo-aa har sabad parovai.
The mind which enshrines the Divine word, becomes immaculate.
ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਾ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰੋ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਗੇ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
nirmal naam lagay badbhaagee nirmal naam suhaavani-aa. ||5||
Fortunate are those, who are attuned to the immaculate Naam.Through the immaculate Naam their lives become virtuous.
ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੀ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਸੋ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਜੋ ਸਬਦੇ ਸੋਹੈ ॥
so nirmal jo sabday sohai.
Immaculate is the one who is adorned with the divine word.
ਉਹ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਭਾਇਮਾਨ ਦਿਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਮੋਹੈ ॥
nirmal naam man tan mohai.
The immaculate God’s Name entices his mind and body.
ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਤਨ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਲੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਮੁਖੁ ਊਜਲੁ ਸਚੁ ਕਰਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
sach naam mal kaday na laagai mukh oojal sach karaavani-aa. ||6||
No filth of vices ever attaches to the one who is immersed in the True Naam.The true Name makes his face radiant (worthy of honor in God’s court).
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਮੈਲ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਗਦੀ। ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੂੰਹ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਉਜਲਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਮਨੁ ਮੈਲਾ ਹੈ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥
man mailaa hai doojai bhaa-ay.
The mind is polluted by the love of duality.
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਮਨ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਨਾਲ) ਮੈਲਾ (ਹੀ) ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮੈਲਾ ਚਉਕਾ ਮੈਲੈ ਥਾਇ ॥
mailaa cha-ukaa mailai thaa-ay.
Filthy is that kitchen, and filthy is that dwelling;
ਗੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਚੌਕਾ ਤੇ ਗੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ।
ਮੈਲਾ ਖਾਇ ਫਿਰਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਵਧਾਏ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੈਲੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
mailaa khaa-ay fir mail vaDhaa-ay manmukh mail dukh paavni-aa. ||7||
By consuming the things earned by dishonest means, the self-willed becomes even more filthy and suffers pain due to the corrupt lifestyle.
ਅਧਰਮ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਦਾ ਭੋਜਨ ਖਾ ਕੇ, ਮੰਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੁੜ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੰਦਗੀ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੰਦਗੀ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਕਟਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮੈਲੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸਭਿ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਸਬਾਏ ॥
mailay nirmal sabh hukam sabaa-ay.
The Pure and impure are all subject to God’ will.
ਵਿਕਾਰੀ ਜੀਵ ਤੇ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ-ਆਤਮਾ ਜੀਵ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ (ਹੀ ਤੁਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ) l
ਸੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਭਾਏ ॥
say nirmal jo har saachay bhaa-ay.
Only those who are pleasing to God are immaculate.
ਉਹ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੇ ਲਗਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਚੁਕਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੧੯॥੨੦॥
naanak naam vasai man antar gurmukh mail chukaavani-aa. ||8||19||20||
O’ Nanak, the Naam dwells within the minds of that guru’s follower, who removes the filth of vices from his mind.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਰਾਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ l

Maajh Raag, by the Third Guru:
ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਊਜਲੁ ਊਜਲ ਹੰਸਾ ॥
govind oojal oojal hansaa.
God is like an immaculate pool, and the Guru’s followers bathing in it (meditating on His Name) become like pure swans.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ-ਸਰੋਵਰ ਵਿਚ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਸੋਹਣੇ ਹੰਸ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਮਨੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਨਸਾ ॥
man banee nirmal mayree mansaa.
Through them my soul, speech and desires are also rendered immaculate.
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ, ਬੋਲ-ਬਾਣੀ ਤੇ ਖ਼ਾਹਿਸ਼ ਸਵੱਛ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਮਨਿ ਊਜਲ ਸਦਾ ਮੁਖ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਅਤਿ ਊਜਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
man oojal sadaa mukh soheh at oojal naam Dhi-aavani-aa. ||1||
They who meditate on the Name of God, their minds become pure and their faces always look very radiant.
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ-ਆਤਮਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ (ਭੀ) ਸੋਹਣੇ ਦਿੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
ha-o vaaree jee-o vaaree gobind gun gaavani-aa.
I dedicate my life and soul to the one who sings God’s praises,
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਵਾਰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਸਦਾ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ,
ਗੋਬਿਦੁ ਗੋਬਿਦੁ ਕਹੈ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤੀ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਗੁਣ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਣਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gobid gobid kahai din raatee gobid gun sabad sunaavni-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and utters God’s Name day and night, and through the Guru’s word, recites God’s praises (to others).
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ) ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਸੁਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਗੋਬਿਦੁ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥
gobind gaavahi sahj subhaa-ay.
They who intuitively sing God’s praises,
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭੈ ਊਜਲ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਲੁ ਜਾਏ ॥
gur kai bhai oojal ha-umai mal jaa-ay.
through the revered fear of the Guru, they become immaculate, because their dirt of egoism is dispelled.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਡਰ-ਅਦਬ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦਿ ਰਹਹਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਸੁਣਿ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
sadaa anand raheh bhagat karahi din raatee sun gobid gun gaavani-aa. ||2||
They always live in a state of bliss. Day and night, they worship God. They hear and sing His praises.
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਮਗਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ l ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ l ਉਹ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਭੀ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਗਾਂਦੇ (ਭੀ) ਹਨ l
ਮਨੂਆ ਨਾਚੈ ਭਗਤਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ॥
manoo-aa naachai bhagat drirh-aa-ay.
As one strengthens one’s devotional worship, his mind dances in elation.
ਜਿਉਂ ਜਿਉਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਭਗਤੀ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਹੁਲਾਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਨੈ ਮਨੁ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
gur kai sabad manai man milaa-ay.
Through the Guru’s word, he merges his mind with God.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮ ਚਿੱਤ ਨਾਲ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ
ਸਚਾ ਤਾਲੁ ਪੂਰੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਚੁਕਾਏ ਸਬਦੇ ਨਿਰਤਿ ਕਰਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
sachaa taal pooray maa-i-aa moh chukaa-ay sabday nirat karaavani-aa. ||3||
The dance to the tune of the Guru’s word after shedding the attachment to Maya is the true devotional dance of the mind.
ਉਹ ਸੱਚਾ ਨਾਚ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਕੇ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਨਾਚ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ
ਊਚਾ ਕੂਕੇ ਤਨਹਿ ਪਛਾੜੇ ॥
oochaa kookay taneh pachhaarhay.
The one who shouts out loudly and makes forceful movements with the body.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਚੀ ਉੱਚੀ ਸੁਰ ਵਿਚ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਪਟਕਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਜੋਹਿਆ ਜਮਕਾਲੇ ॥
maa-i-aa mohi johi-aa jamkaalay.
He is simply doing this for the love of worldly riches, and is being watched by the demon of Death.
ਉਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ (ਫਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ) ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਤੱਕ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
