ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਤ ਇਹੈ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਓ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥
khojat khojat ihai beechaari-o sarab sukhaa har naamaa.
After searching again and again, I have concluded that God’s Name is the only source of all comforts and inner peace.
ਖੋਜ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ (ਅਸਾਂ) ਇਹੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਹੀ) ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਇਓ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਲੇਖੁ ਮਥਾਮਾ ॥੪॥੧੧॥
kaho naanak tis bha-i-o paraapat jaa kai laykh mathaamaa. ||4||11||
O’ Nanak! say, that person alone realizes God’s Name, who has such preordained destiny. ||4||11||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖ- ਇਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ (ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਦਾ) ਲੇਖ (ਜਾਗਦਾ) ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧੧॥
ਸਾਰਗ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Raag Sarang, Fifth Guru:
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਮ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਕਹੀਐ ॥
an-din raam kay gun kahee-ai.
(O’ brother), we should always sing the praises of God,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਅਸੀਂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹੀਏ,
ਸਗਲ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਸਰਬ ਸੂਖ ਸਿਧਿ ਮਨ ਬਾਂਛਤ ਫਲ ਲਹੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sagal padaarath sarab sookh siDh man baaNchhat fal lahee-ai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and receive all the things we need, all comforts, inner peace, miraculous powers, and the fruits of our mind’s desire. ||1||Pause||
ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ, ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ, ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਸਿੱਧੀਆਂ, ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨ-ਮੰਗੇ ਫਲ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰੀਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਆਵਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੇ ਸਿਮਰਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ॥
aavhu sant paraan sukh-daatay simreh parabh abhinaasee.
Come O’ dear saints, let us lovingly remember the eternal God, the benefactor of inner peace and life breaths.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਆਓ, ਅਸੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ-ਦਾਤੇ ਸੁਖ-ਦਾਤੇ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਸਿਮਰੀਏ।
ਅਨਾਥਹ ਨਾਥੁ ਦੀਨ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਘਟ ਵਾਸੀ ॥੧॥
anaathah naath deen dukh bhanjan poor rahi-o ghat vaasee. ||1||
He (God) is the support of the supportless, destroyer of sorrows of the meek, pervading everywhere, and is residing in all the bodies. ||1||
ਉਹ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਨਿਖਸਮਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਖਸਮ ਹੈ, ਗ਼ਰੀਬਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ,ਸਭ ਥਾਈਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਰੀਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਗਾਵਤ ਸੁਨਤ ਸੁਨਾਵਤ ਸਰਧਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀ ਵਡਭਾਗੇ ॥ 888
gaavat sunat sunaavat sarDhaa har ras pee vadbhaagay.
We become very fortunate by singing, listening and reciting to others the praises of God with adoration and by drinking the elixir of His Name.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਸਰਧਾ ਨਾਲ ਗਾਂਦਿਆਂ ਸੁਣਦਿਆਂ ਸੁਣਾਂਦਿਆਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਪੀ ਕੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਲਿ ਕਲੇਸ ਮਿਟੇ ਸਭਿ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਲਿਵ ਜਾਗੇ ॥੨॥
kal kalays mitay sabh tan tay raam naam liv jaagay. ||2||
Those who focus their mind on God’s Name and remain alert to the onslaught of vices, all the sufferings and strifes vanish. ||2||
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਲਿਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਦਾ) ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਝਗੜੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਝੂਠੁ ਤਜਿ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਬੰਧਨ ਤੂਟੇ ॥
kaam kroDh jhooth taj nindaa har simran banDhan tootay.
All worldly bonds break by abandoning lust, anger, falsehood and slander, and by remembering God with adoration.
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਝੂਠ ਨਿੰਦਿਆ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ) ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਮੋਹ ਮਗਨ ਅਹੰ ਅੰਧ ਮਮਤਾ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਛੂਟੇ ॥੩॥
moh magan ahaN anDh mamtaa gur kirpaa tay chhootay. ||3||
By the Guru’s grace one is liberated from the evils of intoxication of worldly wealth, arrogance, spiritual ignorance and worldly love. ||3||
ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ, ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹੋਏ ਰਹਿਣਾ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਕਬਜ਼ੇ ਦੀ ਲਾਲਸਾ-ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਤੂ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
too samrath paarbarahm su-aamee kar kirpaa jan tayraa.
O’ God! You are all-powerful and supreme Master, bestow mercy, I am Your devotee.
ਹੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ! ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ ਹਾਂ।
ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਸਰਬ ਮਹਿ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨੇਰਾ ॥੪॥੧੨॥
poor rahi-o sarab meh thaakur naanak so parabh nayraa. ||4||12||
O’ Nanak! the Master-God who is pervading all is near us all. ||4||12||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧੨॥

Raag Sarang, Fifth Guru:
ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਚਰਨ ॥
balihaaree gurdayv charan.
I am dedicated to the divine word of that Guru,
(ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਗਤਿ ਕਰਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jaa kai sang paarbarahm Dhi-aa-ee-ai updays hamaaree gat karan. ||1|| rahaa-o.
in whose company we lovingly remember the supreme God and whose teachings emancipate us. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸੰਗ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸਦੀ ਸਿਖ-ਮਤ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਡੀ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਦੂਖ ਰੋਗ ਭੈ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਨਾਸੇ ਜੋ ਆਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤ ਸਰਨ ॥
dookh rog bhai sagal binaasay jo aavai har sant saran.
All sufferings, afflictions and fears of that person vanish who comes to the refuge of God’s saint, the Guru.
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਸੰਤ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਗ ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਆਪਿ ਜਪੈ ਅਵਰਹ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਵੈ ਵਡ ਸਮਰਥ ਤਾਰਨ ਤਰਨ ॥੧॥
aap japai avrah naam japaavai vad samrath taaran taran. ||1||
He himself remembers and inspires others to remember God’s Name who is all powerful, and is like a boat to ferry us across the world-ocean of vices. ||1||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵੱਡੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣ-ਜੋਗ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਜਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਜਾ ਕੋ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਉਤਾਰੈ ਸਹਸਾ ਊਣੇ ਕਉ ਸੁਭਰ ਭਰਨ ॥
jaa ko mantar utaarai sahsaa oonay ka-o subhar bharan.
(I am dedicated to that Guru), whose teachings dispel one’s doubt and fills the one with virtues who have no virtue.
(ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ) ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਸਹਮ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਕਾ-ਨਕ ਭਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਦਾਸਨ ਕੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਮਾਨਤ ਤੇ ਨਾਹੀ ਫੁਨਿ ਗਰਭ ਪਰਨ ॥੨॥
har daasan kee aagi-aa maanat tay naahee fun garabh paran. ||2||
Those who follow the teachings of God’s devotee-Guru, do not enter the mother’s womb ever again because their cycle of birth and death ends. ||2||
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੇ ॥੨॥
ਭਗਤਨ ਕੀ ਟਹਲ ਕਮਾਵਤ ਗਾਵਤ ਦੁਖ ਕਾਟੇ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ॥
bhagtan kee tahal kamaavat gaavat dukh kaatay taa kay janam maran.
Those who serve and follow the teachings of the devotees of God and sing His praises, the Guru eradicates their sorrows of birth and death.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਿਆਂ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਕੱਟ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਭਇਓ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਬੀਠੁਲਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅਜਰ ਜਰਨ ॥੩॥
jaa ka-o bha-i-o kirpaal beethulaa tin har har ajar jaran. ||3||
One on whom God becomes merciful, he endure the unendurable bliss of His Name ||3||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਨਾਂ-ਸਹਾਰੀ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਹਾਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
ਹਰਿ ਰਸਹਿ ਅਘਾਨੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਨੇ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਾਤ ਬਰਨ ॥
har raseh aghaanay sahj samaanay mukh tay naahee jaat baran.
Those who become satiated with the elixir of God’s Name, they remain absorbed in a state of spiritual poise which cannot be described with words.
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ) ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਤੋਖੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਉਧਰਨ ॥੪॥੧੩॥
gur parsaad naanak santokhay naam parabhoo jap jap uDhran. ||4||13||
O’ Nanak, by the Guru’s grace they are content, and cross over the world-ocean of vices by lovingly remembering God’s Name. ||4||13||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਤੁਸ਼ਟ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੧੩॥

Raag Sarang, Fifth Guru:
ਗਾਇਓ ਰੀ ਮੈ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਿ ਮੰਗਲ ਗਾਇਓ ॥
gaa-i-o ree mai gun niDh mangal gaa-i-o.
O’ my sister! I am singing the songs in praise of God, the treasure of virtues.
(ਹੇ ਭੈਣ!) ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾ ਰਹੀ ਹਾਂ।
ਭਲੇ ਸੰਜੋਗ ਭਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਅਉਸਰ ਜਉ ਗੋਪਾਲੁ ਰੀਝਾਇਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bhalay sanjog bhalay din a-osar ja-o gopaal reejhaa-i-o. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Blessed are those circumstances and blessed are those days, when someone can please God, the Master of the earth. ||1||Pause||
(ਜਿੰਦ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਉਹ) ਭਲੇ ਸਬਬ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸੋਹਣੇ ਸਮੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਦੋਂ (ਕੋਈ ਜਿੰਦ) ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਕਰ ਲਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸੰਤਹ ਚਰਨ ਮੋਰਲੋ ਮਾਥਾ ॥
santeh charan morlo maathaa.
I have totally surrendered myself to the Guru.
ਮੇਰਾ ਮੱਥਾ ਹੁਣ ਸੰਤਾਂ (ਸੰਤ-ਗੁਰੂ) ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਹੈ,
ਹਮਰੇ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਸੰਤ ਧਰੇ ਹਾਥਾ ॥੧॥
hamray mastak sant Dharay haathaa. ||1||
The Saint-Guru has blessed me by placing his hand on my forehead. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਸੰਤਾਂ (ਸੰਤ- ਗੁਰੂ) ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਰੱਖੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਸਾਧਹ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਮੋਰਲੋ ਮਨੂਆ ॥
saaDhah mantar morlo manoo-aa.
The Guru’s mantra (Divine word) is enshrined in my mind,
ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਞਾਣ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਗਤੁ ਹੋਏ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਨੀਆ ॥੨॥
taa tay gat ho-ay tarai gunee-aa. ||2||
because of which the effect of the three modes of Maya (vice, virtue, and power) has vanished from within me. ||2||
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਭਗਤਹ ਦਰਸੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਨੈਨ ਰੰਗਾ ॥
bhagtah daras daykh nain rangaa.
Seeing the sight of devotees, my eyes have been filled with such love,
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ (ਅਜਿਹਾ) ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਤੂਟੇ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਸੰਗਾ ॥੩॥
lobh moh tootay bharam sangaa. ||3||
that my attachment with greed, and doubt has ended. ||3||
ਕਿ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦਾ ਸਾਥ (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮੁੱਕ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜ ਅਨੰਦਾ ॥
kaho naanak sukh sahj anandaa.
Nanak says, a state of spiritual peace, poise and bliss has welled up within me,
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- (ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ।
ਖੋਲ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਭੀਤਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦਾ ॥੪॥੧੪॥
kholiH bheet milay parmaanandaa. ||4||14||
and tearing down the wall of ego, I have met God, the embodiment of bliss. ||4||14||
(ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੀ) ਕੰਧ ਤੋੜ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੧੪॥

One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕੈਸੇ ਕਹਉ ਮੋਹਿ ਜੀਅ ਬੇਦਨਾਈ ॥
kaisay kaha-o mohi jee-a baydnaa-ee.
How may I express the pangs of my heart?
ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਪੀੜ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਬਿਆਨ ਕਰਾਂ?
ਦਰਸਨ ਪਿਆਸ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਮਨੋਹਰ ਮਨੁ ਨ ਰਹੈ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਉਮਕਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
darsan pi-aas pari-a pareet manohar man na rahai baho biDh umkaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Within me is the love and craving for the blessed vision of my captivating beloved God, my mind cannot remain calm without visualizing Him and it becomes passionate for Him in many different ways. ||1||Pause||
ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਹ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਦੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਹੈ (ਦਰਸਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੇਰਾ) ਮਨ ਧੀਰਜ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ, (ਮੇਰਾ ਅੰਦਰ) ਕਈ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਉਮੰਗ ਉਠ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
