ਖੋਟੇ ਖਰੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਏ ॥
khotay kharay tuDh aap upaa-ay.
O’God, you yourself have created both the evil and the virtuous people.
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਖੋਟੇ ਜੀਵ ਤੇ ਖਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ
ਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਪਰਖੇ ਲੋਕ ਸਬਾਏ ॥
tuDh aapay parkhay lok sabaa-ay.
You Yourself assess the deeds of all people.
ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ (ਦੀਆਂ ਕਰਤੂਤਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਪਰਖਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ
ਖਰੇ ਪਰਖਿ ਖਜਾਨੈ ਪਾਇਹਿ ਖੋਟੇ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
kharay parakh khajaanai paa-ihi khotay bharam bhulaavani-aa. ||6||
Those found virtuous are accepted and united with You, the false ones remain lost in delusion.||6||
ਖਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਖ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ (ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ) ਤੇ ਖੋਟੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ
ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖਾ ਕਿਉ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ॥
ki-o kar vaykhaa ki-o saalaahee.
O’ God, how can I behold You? How can I praise You?
(ਹੇ ਕਰਤਾਰ!) ਮੈਂ (ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ) ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਾਂ? ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਾਂ?
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਲਾਹੀ ॥
gur parsaadee sabad salaahee.
By Guru’s Grace, I praise You through the Word of the Shabad.
(ਜੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਹੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਵੇਂ, ਤਾਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਤੇਰੇ ਭਾਣੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਵਸੈ ਤੂੰ ਭਾਣੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
tayray bhaanay vich amrit vasai tooN bhaanai amrit pee-aavni-aa. ||7||
O’God, it is only according to Your Will that the nectar of Your Naam comes to reside in one’s heart, and it is in Your will that You administer Your nectar to anyone.||7||
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਤੇਰੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ-ਨਾਮ (ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਪਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੭॥
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਬਦੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
amrit sabad amrit har banee.
The holy word of the Guru is the immortalizing nectar and so is the Naam of God.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਗੁਰ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ-ਦਾਤੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਰਿਦੈ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥
satgur sayvi-ai ridai samaanee.
Serving the True Guru, it permeates the heart.
ਜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ-ਪਰਨਾ ਲਿਆ ਜਾਏ, ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਪੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਭ ਭੁਖ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੧੫॥੧੬॥
naanak amrit naam sadaa sukh-daata pee amrit sabh bhukh leh jaavani-aa. ||8||15||16||
O’Nanak,the nectar of naam gives eternal peace. By drinking it, one’s hunger (of worldly desires) is satisfied.||8||15||16||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪੀਤਿਆਂ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਸਾਰੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੮॥੧੫॥੧੬॥

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਵਰਸੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥
amrit varsai sahj subhaa-ay.
The nectar of Naam comes into one’s heart intuitively.
ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਵਰਖਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਕੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
gurmukh virlaa ko-ee jan paa-ay.
However, rare are those Guru’s followers who receive and enjoys this nectar.
ਪਰ (ਇਹ ਦਾਤਿ) ਕੋਈ ਉਹ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਰਾਹ ਤੇ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀ ਸਦਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਸੇ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬੁਝਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
amrit pee sadaa tariptaasay kar kirpaa tarisnaa bujhaavani-aa. ||1||
Those who drink it are satisfied forever (from worldly things). Showering His mercy, God quenches their thirst of worldly desires.
ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਪੀ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ (ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਬੁਝਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਆਵਣਿਆ ॥
ha-o vaaree jee-o vaaree gurmukh amrit pee-aavni-aa.
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those Guru’s followers who by Guru’s grace, drink this nectar of Naam.
ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ, ਜੇਹੜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਲ ਪੀਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਰਸਨਾ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਰਹੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਹਜੇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
rasnaa ras chaakh sadaa rahai rang raatee sehjay har gun gaavani-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Tasting this nectar, their tongue remains imbued with divine love and intuitively keep singing God’s praise.||1||Pause||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਚਖ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਹਜੁ ਕੋ ਪਾਏ ॥
gur parsaadee sahj ko paa-ay.
It is only a rare person who by Guru’s Grace attains a state of spiritual poise and balance of mind
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮਾਰੇ ਇਕਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥
dubiDhaa maaray ikas si-o liv laa-ay.
This person subdued all senses of duality, fixes the mind only on one God.
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਉਹ ਮਨ ਦਾ ਦੁਚਿੱਤਾ-ਪਨ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ) ਨਾਲ ਲਗਨ ਲਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਨਦਰੀ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
nadar karay taa har gun gaavai nadree sach samaavani-aa. ||2||
But this happens only when He bestows His glance of grace ,then that person sings God’s praises ;and by His grace ,merge in Truth.||2||
ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਕਿਸੇ ਜੀਵ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ) ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸਭਨਾ ਉਪਰਿ ਨਦਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੀ ॥
sabhnaa upar nadar parabh tayree.
O God,Your glance of grace is over all.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੀ ਹੈ,
ਕਿਸੈ ਥੋੜੀ ਕਿਸੈ ਹੈ ਘਣੇਰੀ ॥
kisai thorhee kisai hai ghanayree.
On some it may be less, on others, more (just as rain falls equally on all places,but the level fields retain more while slopes retain very less).
ਕਿਸੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਥੋੜੀ ਹੈ ਕਿਸੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਤੁਝ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
tujh tay baahar kichh na hovai gurmukh sojhee paavni-aa. ||3||
It is only the Gurmukhs (Guru’s followers) who understand that nothing happens at all without Your will.||3||
ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ (ਤੇਰੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ-ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤਤੁ ਹੈ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
gurmukh tat hai beechaaraa
O’ God, only the Guru’s follower contemplates and understands this reality,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਭਰੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥
amrit bharay tayray bhandaaraa.
That your divine treasures are overflowing with nectar of Naam.
ਕਿ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਰੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਭਰੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਕੋਈ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
bin satgur sayvay ko-ee na paavai gur kirpaa tay paavni-aa. ||4||
Howeve, without serving and following the true Guru, no one receives this nectar. Whosoever receives it, gets it only by Guru’s grace,
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੈ ਸਕਦਾ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੈ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਸੋਹੈ ॥
satgur sayvai so jan sohai.
The person who serve and follow the true Guru becomes beauteous and virtuous.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮਿ ਅੰਤਰੁ ਮਨੁ ਮੋਹੈ ॥
amrit naam antar man mohai.
Such a person’s inner mind is fascinated with the Nectar of Naam.
ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਅੰਦਰਲਾ ਮਨ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਰਤਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਣਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
amrit man tan banee rataa amrit sahj sunaavni-aa. ||5||
The person’s body and mind attuned to the Ambrosial Naam and the person intuitively keep hearing the sweet words o Guru’s Naam.||5||
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਤਨ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਲ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਨਾਮ-ਧੁਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਭੂਲਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਖੁਆਏ ॥
manmukh bhoolaa doojai bhaa-ay khu-aa-ay.
A self-willed person goes astray and is ruined due to the love of duality ( the worldly riches instead of God )
ਪਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ (ਰੁੱਝ ਕੇ) ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਲੇਵੈ ਮਰੈ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਏ ॥
naam na layvai marai bikh khaa-ay.
This person does not meditate on God’s Naam and dies while going after false worldly desires.
ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ, ਉਹ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ-ਰੂਪ) ਜ਼ਹਰ ਖਾ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਵਿਸਟਾ ਮਹਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
an-din sadaa vistaa meh vaasaa bin sayvaa janam gavaavni-aa. ||6||
Such a person lives in filth of sinful worldly pleasures day and night and without remembering God, wastes the human birth.||6||
(ਗੰਦ ਦੇ ਕੀੜੇ ਵਾਂਗ) ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਸਦਾ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ) ਗੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਜ਼ਾਇਆ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਪੀਆਏ ॥
amrit peevai jis no aap pee-aa-ay.
Only that person drinks the nectar of Naam, whom He Himself inspires to do so.
(ਪਰ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੀ ਕੀਹ ਵੱਸ?) ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਪਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਹਜਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥
gur parsaadee sahj liv laa-ay.
By Guru’s Grace, such a person imperceptibly becomes attuned to God.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪੂਰਨ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਭ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
pooran poor rahi-aa sabh aapay gurmat nadree aavani-aa. ||7||
Then, through the Guru’s teachings, is able to see that the perfect God Himself is pervading everywhere.||7||.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਸੋਈ ॥
aapay aap niranjan so-ee.
The immaculate God is all by Himself.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਨਿ ਸਿਰਜੀ ਤਿਨਿ ਆਪੇ ਗੋਈ ॥
jin sirjee tin aapay go-ee.
He who has created (this universe) shall Himself destroy it.
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ਸਦਾ ਤੂੰ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੧੬॥੧੭॥
naanak naam samaal sadaa tooN sehjay sach samaavani-aa. ||8||16||17||
O Nanak, always meditate on God’s Naam, and you will merge into the eternal God with intuitive ease.||8||16||17||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਂਭ ਰੱਖ। (ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੮॥੧੬॥੧੭॥

ਸੇ ਸਚਿ ਲਾਗੇ ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਏ ॥
say sach laagay jo tuDh bhaa-ay.
Only those people are attuned to the Truth, who are pleasing to you.
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਜੇਹੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ (ਤੇਰੇ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਦਾ ਸਚੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥
sadaa sach sayveh sahj subhaa-ay.
They always imperceptibly keep serving the True One ( by meditating on Your eternal Naam).
ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਭਾਵ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿਕ ਕੇ) ਸਦਾ (ਤੇਰੇ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਸਚੈ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
sachai sabad sachaa saalaahee sachai mayl milaavani-aa. ||1||
Through the True Word of the Guru,They praise the eternal God, and thus they themselves are united and unite others with the eternal God.||1||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ) ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ। (ਜੇਹੜੇ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ) ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਣਿਆ ॥
ha-o vaaree jee-o vaaree sach salaahni-aa.
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who praise the True One.
ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ, ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਇਨਿ ਸੇ ਸਚਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sach Dhi-aa-in say sach raatay sachay sach samaavani-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Those who meditate on the eternal God are imbued with the love of the eternal God, and they merge in that true and eternal God.||||Pause||
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਹ ਦੇਖਾ ਸਚੁ ਸਭਨੀ ਥਾਈ ॥
jah daykhaa sach sabhnee thaa-ee.
Wherever I look, I see that eternal God pervading everywhere.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਮੈਂ ਜਿਧਰ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਥਾਈਂ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ।
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਈ ॥
gur parsaadee man vasaa-ee.
By Guru’s Grace, I enshrine Him in my mind.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਤਨੁ ਸਚਾ ਰਸਨਾ ਸਚਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਚੁ ਸੁਣਿ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਨਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
tan sachaa rasnaa sach raatee sach sun aakh vakhaanni-aa. ||2||
Now my body is filled with Truth, my tongue is imbued with Truth, and I hear and talk only about the eternal God.||2||
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਉਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਕਥਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੀਭ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਰੰਗ) ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰੇ ਅਡੋਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
