ਆਗੈ ਘਾਮ ਪਿਛੈ ਰੁਤਿ ਜਾਡਾ ਦੇਖਿ ਚਲਤ ਮਨੁ ਡੋਲੇ ॥
aagai ghaam pichhai rut jaadaa daykh chalat man dolay.
The heat of summer is gone and the cold of winter lies ahead, similarly the vigor of youth is gone and the weakness of old age is approaching, seeing this wonder, my mind trembles in fear (because I have still not realized You).
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਗਰਮੀ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਰਹਿ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਆਲ ਦਾ ਮੌਸਮ ਮੂਹਰੇ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਦਾ ਨਿੱਘ ਘਟ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਰੀਰਕ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰੀ ਆ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਘਬਰਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਅਜੇ ਤਕ ਤੇਰਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਿਆ)।
ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਸਾਖ ਹਰੀ ਹਰੀਆਵਲ ਸਹਜਿ ਪਕੈ ਸੋ ਮੀਠਾ ॥
dah dis saakh haree haree-aaval sahj pakai so meethaa.
The tree branches are green and there is greenery in all directions, and just as the fruit which ripens slowly is sweet, similarly one who always remembers God with adoration, is rewarded with His blissful union.
ਹਰ ਪਾਸੇ (ਬਨਸਪਤੀ ਦੀਆਂ) ਹਰੀਆਂ ਸਾਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਹਰਿਆਵਲ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ (ਇਹ ਧੀਰਜ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਅਡੋਲ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ (ਜੇਹੜਾ ਜੀਵ) ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੀ ਮਿਠਾਸ (ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ) ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਅਸੁਨਿ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਏ ਬਸੀਠਾ ॥੧੧॥
naanak asun milhu pi-aaray satgur bha-ay baseethaa. ||11||
O’ Nanak, say: O’ my beloved God, please manifest in my heart in this month of Assu because the true Guru (divine word) now has become my mediator, ||11||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ( ਆਖ) ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅੱਸੂ (ਦੀ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਰੁੱਤ) ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ (ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿਚੋਲੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ) ॥੧੧॥
ਕਤਕਿ ਕਿਰਤੁ ਪਇਆ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
katak kirat pa-i-aa jo parabh bhaa-i-aa.
Just as in the month of Kattik, a farmer reaps the reward of the crops sown in previous months, similarly, as it pleases God, one receives the reward of his deeds.
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੱਤਕ (ਮਹੀਨੇ) ਵਿਚ (ਕਿਸਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਵਣੀ ਦੇ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਦੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲਗਾ ਉਸ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਜੀਵ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਪਾਇਆ |
ਦੀਪਕੁ ਸਹਜਿ ਬਲੈ ਤਤਿ ਜਲਾਇਆ ॥
deepak sahj balai tat jalaa-i-aa.
The lamp (mind) which is enlightened through the essence of reality, remains enlighted (keeps imparting spiritual wisdom) intuitively.
ਜਿਹਡਾ ਦਿਵਾ ਤੱਤ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਜਗਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ (ਗਿਆਨ ਰੂਪੀ) ਦਿਵਾ ਸਹਿਜ ਨਾਲ ਬਲਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਦੀਪਕ ਰਸ ਤੇਲੋ ਧਨ ਪਿਰ ਮੇਲੋ ਧਨ ਓਮਾਹੈ ਸਰਸੀ ॥
deepak ras taylo Dhan pir maylo Dhan omaahai sarsee.
The soul-bride whose lamp (mind) is enlightened with the oil of love for God, unites with her Husband-God and enthusiastically enjoys the bliss of this union.
ਜਿਸ ਦਿਵੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰੂਪੀ ਤੇਲ ਹੋਵੇ ਉਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਅਵਗਣ ਮਾਰੀ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਸੀਝੈ ਗੁਣਿ ਮਾਰੀ ਤਾ ਮਰਸੀ ॥
avgan maaree marai na seejhai gun maaree taa marsee.
The soul-bride strangled by vices, spiritually deteriorates and does not succeed in achieving the goal of life; but if she dispels her ego by singing God’s praises, only then she truly escapes from the vices and is emancipated.
(ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ) ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮਾਰ ਮੁਕਾਇਆ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤੇ ਮਰ ਗਈ, ਉਹ (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿਚ) ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ, ਪਰ ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਨੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਮਾਰਿਆ ਉਹ ਹੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਬਚੀ ਰਹੇਗੀ।
ਨਾਮੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਦੇ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਬੈਠੇ ਅਜਹੁ ਤਿਨਾੜੀ ਆਸਾ ॥
naam bhagat day nij ghar baithay ajahu tinaarhee aasaa.
Those whom God blesses with Naam and devotional worship, remain spiritually stable and hopeful to unite with Him.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਕਪਟ ਦਰ ਖੋਲਹੁ ਏਕ ਘੜੀ ਖਟੁ ਮਾਸਾ ॥੧੨॥
naanak milhu kapat dar kholahu ayk gharhee khat maasaa. ||12||
O’ Nanak, say: O’ God! open the shutters of our mind and make us realize You, even a moment without You feels like ages. ||12||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ!-ਆਖ ਹੇ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਾਡੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਕਿਵਾੜ ਖੋਹਲ ਦੇਹ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਇਕ ਘੜੀ ਦਾ ਵਿਛੋੜਾ ਛੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਜਾਪਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੨॥
ਮੰਘਰ ਮਾਹੁ ਭਲਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਅੰਕਿ ਸਮਾਵਏ ॥
manghar maahu bhalaa har gun ank samaav-ay.
The cold month of Manghar (Nov-Dec) seems pleasing to that soul-bride in whose heart God manifests as a result of singing His praises.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੱਘਰ ਦਾ ਮਹੀਨਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਣਵੰਤੀ ਗੁਣ ਰਵੈ ਮੈ ਪਿਰੁ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਭਾਵਏ ॥
gunvantee gun ravai mai pir nihchal bhaav-ay.
My eternal Husband-God is pleasing to that virtuous soul-bride who lovingly sings His praises.
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਉਸ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਚਤੁਰੁ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ਚੰਚਲੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ॥
nihchal chatur sujaan biDhaataa chanchal jagat sabaa-i-aa.
Only the Creator-God is eternal, wise and omniscient, whereas the entire world is perishable.
ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਤਾਂ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਹੈ, ਇਕ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਹੀ ਜੋ ਚਤੁਰ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਗਿਆਨੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਅੰਕਿ ਸਮਾਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਣੇ ਤਾ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
gi-aan Dhi-aan gun ank samaanay parabh bhaanay taa bhaa-i-aa.
When it so pleases God, divine knowledge, meditation and enshrining of God’s virtues look pleasing to her.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੱਲੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਗਿਆਤ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਨੇਕੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਸਰੂਪ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸਾਈਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਚੰਗੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੀਤ ਨਾਦ ਕਵਿਤ ਕਵੇ ਸੁਣਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਭਾਗੈ ॥
geet naad kavit kavay sun raam naam dukh bhaagai.
By listening to songs, tunes, and poems in praise of God, and reciting God’s Name, her sufferings vanish.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਕਾਵਿ ਸੁਣ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ (ਜੁੜ ਕੇ) ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਨਾਹ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਅਭ ਭਗਤੀ ਪਿਰ ਆਗੈ ॥੧੩॥
naanak saa Dhan naah pi-aaree abh bhagtee pir aagai. ||13||
O’ Nanak, that soul-bride becomes dear to her Husband-God who offers to Him the loving devotional worship from her heart. ||13||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਦਿਲੀ ਪਿਆਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ (ਭੇਟ) ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧੩॥
ਪੋਖਿ ਤੁਖਾਰੁ ਪੜੈ ਵਣੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਣੁ ਰਸੁ ਸੋਖੈ ॥
pokh tukhaar parhai van tarin ras sokhai.
In the month of Poh (Dec-Jan), frost falls, which dries up the sap in the vegetation, similarly people devoid of Naam become spiritually withered as if frost of materialism has fallen on them.
ਪੋਹ (ਦੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ) ਵਿਚ ਕੱਕਰ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਵਣ ਨੂੰ ਘਾਹ ਨੂੰ (ਹਰੇਕ ਘਾਹ-ਬੂਟ ਦੇ) ਰਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਕਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਵਤ ਕੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਵਸਹਿ ਮੁਖੇ ॥
aavat kee naahee man tan vaseh mukhay.
O’ God, why don’t You manifest in my mind, body and on my tongue? (so that I may not spiritually deteriorate).
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਆ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰੇ ਤਨ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੱਸਦਾ? (ਤਾ ਕਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਰੁੱਖਾ ਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ)।
ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣੀ ॥
man tan rav rahi-aa jagjeevan gur sabdee rang maanee.
God, the life of the world, is pervading every one’s mind and body, but the bliss of union with Him can only be enjoyed through the Guru’s divine word.
ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਤਨ ਵਿਚ ਰਮਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਡਜ ਜੇਰਜ ਸੇਤਜ ਉਤਭੁਜ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥
andaj jayraj saytaj ut-bhuj ghat ghat jot samaanee.
God’s supreme light is pervading the hearts of all those born from eggs, from the womb, from perspiration and out of earth.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਆਂਡੇ, ਜੇਰ, ਮੁੜ੍ਹਕੇ ਤੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਵਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਦਇਆਪਤਿ ਦਾਤੇ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਵਉ ਮਤਿ ਦੇਹੋ ॥
darsan dayh da-i-aapat daatay gat paava-o mat dayho.
O’ God, my merciful benefactor, grant me Your blessed vision and bless me with such wisdom that I may attain supreme spiritual state.
ਹੇ ਦਿਆਲ ਦਾਤਾਰ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਦੇਹ, ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਚੰਗੀ) ਅਕਲ ਦੇਹ, (ਜਿਸ ਕਰਕੇ) ਮੈਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਸਕਾਂ ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਵੈ ਰਸਿ ਰਸੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਸਨੇਹੋ ॥੧੪॥
naanak rang ravai ras rasee-aa har si-o pareet sanayho. ||14||
O’ Nanak, one who bears love and affection for God, enjoys the affection of His love. ||14||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਰਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ॥੧੪॥
ਮਾਘਿ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਭਈ ਤੀਰਥੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥
maagh puneet bha-ee tirath antar jaani-aa.
In the month of Maagh (Jan-Feb), people go to holy places, but one who has recognized the true place of pilgrimage within, becomes immaculate;
ਮਾਘ (ਮਹੀਨੇ) ਵਿਚ (ਲੋਕ ਪ੍ਰਯਾਗ ਆਦਿਕ ਉਤੇ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰਤਾ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਹਨ ਪਰ) ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਤੀਰਥ ਪਛਾਣ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਜਨ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਹਿ ਅੰਕਿ ਸਮਾਨਿਆ ॥
saajan sahj milay gun geh ank samaani-aa.
he intuitively realizes dear God and by enshrining His virtues in his heart, he merges in Him.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਭਾਵਿਕ ਹੀ ਸੱਜਣ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਗੁਣ ਅੰਕੇ ਸੁਣਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬੰਕੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵਾ ਸਰਿ ਨਾਵਾ ॥
pareetam gun ankay sun parabh bankay tuDh bhaavaa sar naavaa.
O’ my handsome and beloved God, if I become pleasing to You by enshrining Your virtues in my heart and listening to Your praises, then I would deem that I have bathed in the holiest of places.
ਹੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਵਾਂ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੀਰਥ ਉਤੇ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ (ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹਾਂ) ।
ਗੰਗ ਜਮੁਨ ਤਹ ਬੇਣੀ ਸੰਗਮ ਸਾਤ ਸਮੁੰਦ ਸਮਾਵਾ ॥
gang jamun tah baynee sangam saat samund samaavaa.
O’ God, for me to absorb in Naam, is like taking a bath at the tri-junction of Ganges, Jamuna, Saraswati and remaining absorbed in the holy congregation.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ, ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨਤਾ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਹੀ ਗੰਗਾ ਜਮਨਾ ਸਰਸ੍ਵਤੀ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਨਦੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ-ਥਾਂ ਹੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਬੇਣੀ ਹੈ,ਅਤੇ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿਣਾ
ਪੁੰਨ ਦਾਨ ਪੂਜਾ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਤਾ ॥
punn daan poojaa parmaysur jug jug ayko jaataa.
One who has realized God who has been pervading each and every age, has done all the virtuous deeds, charity, and devotional worship.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੁਗ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪੁੰਨ ਕਰਮ ਦਾਨ ਤੇ ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰਮ ਕਰ ਲਏ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਾਘਿ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਅਠਸਠਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਨਾਤਾ ॥੧੫॥
naanak maagh mahaa ras har jap athsath tirath naataa. ||15||
O’ Nanak, instead of bathing at holy places in the month of Maagh, one who has relished the sublime elixir of lovingly remembering God, has received the merit of bathing at all the pilgrimage places. ||15||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮਾਘ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਵਿਚ (ਤੀਰਥ-ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੇ ਥਾਂ) ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਮਹਾ ਰਸ ਪੀ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਅਠਾਹਠ ਹੀ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ॥੧੫॥
ਫਲਗੁਨਿ ਮਨਿ ਰਹਸੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਸੁਭਾਇਆ ॥
falgun man rahsee paraym subhaa-i-aa.
In the month of Phalgun (Feb-march), true bliss welled up in the mind of the soul-bride whom lovingly remembering God sounded more pleasing than playing with colors (holi);
ਫੱਗਣ ਦੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ (ਹੋਲੀ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ-ਤਮਾਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਨਾਲੋ) ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਲੱਗਾ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਅਸਲ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ |
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਰਹਸੁ ਭਇਆ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
an-din rahas bha-i-aa aap gavaa-i-aa.
She felt delighted forever when she let her ego go.
ਜਦੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਗਵਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ ਦਾ ਖੇੜਾ ਹੀ ਖੇੜਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
ਮਨ ਮੋਹੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਘਰਿ ਆਓ ॥
man moh chukaa-i-aa jaa tis bhaa-i-aa kar kirpaa ghar aa-o.
When it pleases God, she dispels emotional attachments from her mind and it is then, God bestows mercy and manifests in her heart.
ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਮੁਕਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਭੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਹੁਤੇ ਵੇਸ ਕਰੀ ਪਿਰ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਮਹਲੀ ਲਹਾ ਨ ਥਾਓ ॥
bahutay vays karee pir baajhahu mahlee lahaa na thaa-o.
Previously, even though I adorned myself with numerous holy garbs and did ritualistic deeds, I could not find a place in God’s presence without true devotion.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਮਿਲਾਪ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਬਥੇਰੇ ਸਿੰਗਾਰ (ਬਾਹਰੋਂ ਦਿੱਸਦੇ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਕੰਮ) ਕੀਤੇ,ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਿਆ।
ਹਾਰ ਡੋਰ ਰਸ ਪਾਟ ਪਟੰਬਰ ਪਿਰਿ ਲੋੜੀ ਸੀਗਾਰੀ ॥
haar dor ras paat patambar pir lorhee seegaaree.
Yes, the soul-bride whom God has liked, she enjoyed all the pleasure as if she was adorned with necklaces, pearl-strings, perfumes and silken dresses.
ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਤੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਪਸੰਦ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਹਾਰ-ਸਿੰਗਾਰਾਂ ਰੇਸ਼ਮੀ ਕੱਪੜਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਿੰਗਾਰੀ ਗਈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਈ ਗੁਰਿ ਅਪਣੈ ਘਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਰੀ ॥੧੬॥
naanak mayl la-ee gur apnai ghar var paa-i-aa naaree. ||16||
O’ Nanak, the soul-bride whom the Guru united with him, she realized her Husband God in her own heart. ||16||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ॥੧੬॥
ਬੇ ਦਸ ਮਾਹ ਰੁਤੀ ਥਿਤੀ ਵਾਰ ਭਲੇ ॥
bay das maah rutee thitee vaar bhalay.
Auspicious are all the twelve months, all seasons, lunar and solar days,
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਰਾਂ ਹੀ ਮਹੀਨੇ, ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਰੁੱਤਾਂ, ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਥਿੱਤਾਂ, ਸਾਰੇ ਦਿਨ ਸੁਲੱਖਣੇ ਜਾਪਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਘੜੀ ਮੂਰਤ ਪਲ ਸਾਚੇ ਆਏ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲੇ ॥
gharhee moorat pal saachay aa-ay sahj milay.
hours, moments, and instants, within whom the eternal God manifests intuitively.
ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਘੜੀਆਂ, ਸਾਰੇ ਮੁਹੂਰਤ ਤੇ ਪਲ ਸੁਲੱਖਣੇ ਜਾਪਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਚਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਆ ਕੇ ਸੁਭਾਵਿਕ ਹੀ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਿਲੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਭ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
parabh milay pi-aaray kaaraj saaray kartaa sabh biDh jaanai.
When dear God manifested, all the tasks got resolved, because the Creator-God knows all the ways (to make one succeed).
ਜਦੋ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਰਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਕਿਉਂਕੇ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਬਿਧੀਆਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਨਿ ਸੀਗਾਰੀ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਮੇਲੁ ਭਇਆ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣੈ ॥
jin seegaaree tiseh pi-aaree mayl bha-i-aa rang maanai.
The soul-bride became pleasing to the Husband-God who adorned her with virtues and she enjoys the spiritual bliss of uniting with Him.
ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੇ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਸਿੰਗਾਰੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲਗ ਗਈ ਜਦੋ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਲ ਹੋਇਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਘਰਿ ਸੇਜ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਜਾ ਪਿਰਿ ਰਾਵੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗੋ ॥
ghar sayj suhaavee jaa pir raavee gurmukh mastak bhaago.
The soul-bride whose preordained destiny got realized through the Guru’s grace, got delighted when her husband-God united her with Him.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਦਾ ਲੇਖ ਉੱਘੜਿਆ, (ਉਸ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ) ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਿਰਦਾ-ਸੇਜ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
