ਚਰਣ ਤਲੈ ਉਗਾਹਿ ਬੈਸਿਓ ਸ੍ਰਮੁ ਨ ਰਹਿਓ ਸਰੀਰਿ ॥
charan talai ugaahi baisi-o saram na rahi-o sareer.
Just as a tired man gets relief from the fatigue in his body when he sets his feet in the ship,
ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਥਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੁਖ ਬੇੜੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਹੇਠ ਨੱਪ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੈਠ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਦੇਹ ਦੇ ਥਕੇਵੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਪਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਮਹਾ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਨਹ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਖਿਨਹਿ ਉਤਰਿਓ ਤੀਰਿ ॥੨॥
mahaa saagar nah vi-aapai khineh utri-o teer. ||2||
and is not terrified by the great ocean, and in a moment lands on the other shore; (similarly, one who seeks the Guru’s refuge is ferried across the worldly ocean of vices). ||2||
ਅਤੇ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਅਸਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ, (ਬੇੜੀ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਉਹ) ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ (ਉਸ ਦਰੀਆ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰਲੇ ਕੰਢੇ ਜਾ ਉਤਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਓਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਣ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਕਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ)॥੨॥
ਚੰਦਨ ਅਗਰ ਕਪੂਰ ਲੇਪਨ ਤਿਸੁ ਸੰਗੇ ਨਹੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥
chandan agar kapoor laypan tis sangay nahee pareet.
The earth does not show special love for that person who plasters it with fragrance like sandal, agar or camphor;
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੰਦਨ ਅਗਰ ਕਪੂਰ ਨਾਲ ਲੇਪਨ (ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਧਰਤੀ) ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਲ (ਕੋਈ ਖ਼ਾਸ) ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੀ;
ਬਿਸਟਾ ਮੂਤ੍ਰ ਖੋਦਿ ਤਿਲੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਮਨਿ ਨ ਮਨੀ ਬਿਪਰੀਤਿ ॥੩॥
bistaa mootar khod til til man na manee bipreet. ||3||
it does not hate that person who dumps human waste on it and digs it up bit by bit. (similar is the attitude of saints to honor and dishonor). ||3||
ਤੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ (ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ) ਧਰਤੀ ਬੁਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਨਾਂਦੀ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਗੂੰਹ ਮੂਤਰ ਸੁੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ, ਧਰਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਟ ਕੇ ਰਤਾ ਰਤਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ l (ਇਸੇ ਹੀ ਤਰਾਂ ਹੈ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਮਰਧਾਦਾ) ॥੩॥
ਊਚ ਨੀਚ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਸੁਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਸੰਲਗਨ ਸਭ ਸੁਖ ਛਤ੍ਰ ॥
ooch neech bikaar sukarit saNlgan sabh sukh chhatar.
Just as the sky spreads its peace giving canopy evenly over the rich and the poor, or the sinners and the holy,
ਕੋਈ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਨੀਵਾਂ ਹੋਵੇ, ਕੋਈ ਬੁਰਾਈ ਕਰੇ ਕੋਈ ਭਲਾਈ ਕਰੇ (ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਛਤਰ (ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ) ਹੈ,
ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਤ੍ਰੁ ਨ ਕਛੂ ਜਾਨੈ ਸਰਬ ਜੀਅ ਸਮਤ ॥੪॥
mitar satar na kachhoo jaanai sarab jee-a samat. ||4||
it does not discriminate between a friend and a foe and considers all beings as equal (similarly, a saint extends his mercy to all without any discrimination). ||4||
(ਆਕਾਸ਼) ਨਾਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਵੈਰੀ, ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਇੱਕ-ਸਮਾਨ ਹੈ (ਇਸੇ ਹੀ ਤਰਾਂ ਹੈ ਸੰਤ ਸਭ ਲਈ ਸੁਖ ਦਾ ਸਾਇਆ ਬਣੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਣ)॥੪॥
ਕਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਓ ਅੰਧਕਾਰ ਬਿਨਾਸ ॥
kar pargaas parchand pargati-o anDhkaar binaas.
Just as the sun rises in the sky with its dazzling light and destroys the darkness,
ਸੂਰਜ ਤੇਜ਼ ਰੌਸ਼ਨੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ) ਪਰਗਟ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਅਪਵਿਤ੍ਰਹ ਕਿਰਣ ਲਾਗੇ ਮਨਿ ਨ ਭਇਓ ਬਿਖਾਦੁ ॥੫॥
pavitar apvitreh kiran laagay man na bha-i-o bikhaad. ||5||
it does not feel bad when its rays come in contact with good and bad things or good and bad people (Similarly the holy persons do good to all). ||5||
ਅਤੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਮੰਦੇ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਿਰਣਾਂ ਲੱਗਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, (ਸੂਰਜ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਗੱਲੋਂ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ (ਇਸੇ ਹੀ ਤਰਾਂ ਹੈ ਸੰਤ ਸਭ ਲਈ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ) ॥੫॥
ਸੀਤ ਮੰਦ ਸੁਗੰਧ ਚਲਿਓ ਸਰਬ ਥਾਨ ਸਮਾਨ ॥
seet mand suganDh chali-o sarab thaan samaan.
The air spreads its cool fragrance over all places alike;
ਠੰਢੀ (ਹਵਾ) ਸੁਗੰਧੀ-ਭਰੀ (ਹਵਾ) ਮੱਠੀ ਮੱਠੀ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਥਾਂਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਇਕੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਚੱਲਦੀ ਹੈ;
ਜਹਾ ਸਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਤਹਾ ਲਾਗਿਓ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਸੰਕਾ ਮਾਨ ॥੬॥
jahaa saa kichh tahaa laagi-o til na sankaa maan. ||6||
wherever anything is, it touches them all without bothering whether it is good or bad, (similarly saints go around spreading fragrance of Naam). ||6||
ਜਿੱਥੇ ਭੀ ਕੋਈ ਚੀਜ਼ ਹੋਵੇ (ਚੰਗੀ ਹੋਵੇ ਚਾਹੇ ਮੰਦੀ) ਉੱਥੇ ਹੀ (ਸਭ ਨੂੰ) ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ, ਰਤਾ ਭੀ ਝਿਜਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੀ (ਇਸੇ ਹੀ ਤਰਾਂ ਹੈ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਸੁਗੰਧੀ ਵੰੜਦੇ ਹਨ ) ॥੬॥
ਸੁਭਾਇ ਅਭਾਇ ਜੁ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਆਵੈ ਸੀਤੁ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਜਾਇ ॥
subhaa-ay abhaa-ay jo nikat aavai seet taa kaa jaa-ay.
Anyone who comes near fire whether with good intentions or bad, his discomfort of feeling cold goes away.
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਚੰਗੀ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਂ ਮੰਦੀ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਨਾਲ (ਅੱਗ ਦੇ) ਨੇੜੇ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਪ ਪਰ ਕਾ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਸਦਾ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥੭॥
aap par kaa kachh na jaanai sadaa sahj subhaa-ay. ||7||
The fire maintains its disposition and treats everyone the same way, (similarly a saint seeks the welfare of everybody, his own or a stranger). ||7||
(ਅੱਗ) ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੀ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੈ ਇਹ ਪਰਾਇਆ ਹੈ, (ਅੱਗ) ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੁਭਾਵ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ (ਇਸੇ ਹੀ ਤਰਾਂ ਹੈ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਭਲਾ ਮਨਾਉਦੇਂ ਹਨ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਫਰਤ ਨਹੀ ਕਰਦੇ) ॥੭॥
ਚਰਣ ਸਰਣ ਸਨਾਥ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਲਾਲ ॥
charan saran sanaath ih man rang raatay laal.
By remaining in the refuge of God, these holy persons belong to God, and they remain totally imbued with His love.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਖਸਮ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਤੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਗੋਪਾਲ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਤ ਗਾਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਏ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥੮॥੩॥
gopaal gun nit gaa-o naanak bha-ay parabh kirpaal. ||8||3||
O’ Nanak, you too sing praises of God everyday because those who do so, God becomes gracious to them. ||8||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਤੂੰ ਭੀ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰ। (ਜਿਹੜੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੮॥੩॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਚਾਦਨਾ ਚਾਦਨੁ ਆਂਗਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀਉ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਚਾਦਨਾ ॥੧॥
chaadnaa chaadan aaNgan parabh jee-o antar chaadnaa. ||1||
Of all the lights, the most pleasing is the divine light of God’s Name with which the courtyard of our mind gets illuminated. ||1||
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਾ-ਇਹ ਵਿਹੜੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੋਰ ਸਭ ਚਾਨਣਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵਧੀਆ ਚਾਨਣ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਆਰਾਧਨਾ ਅਰਾਧਨੁ ਨੀਕਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਰਾਧਨਾ ॥੨॥
aaraaDhnaa araaDhan neekaa har har naam araaDhanaa. ||2||
Of all the meditations, the best meditation is to remember God’s Name. ||2||
ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ-ਇਹ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਿਮਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਤਿਆਗਨਾ ਤਿਆਗਨੁ ਨੀਕਾ ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਤਿਆਗਨਾ ॥੩॥
ti-aaganaa ti-aagan neekaa kaam kroDh lobh ti-aaganaa. ||3||
Of all renunciations, the best renunciation is that of lust, anger and greed. ||3||
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ (ਆਦਿਕ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਤਿਆਗ ਦੇਣਾ-ਇਹ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਤਿਆਗਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਤਿਆਗ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਮਾਗਨਾ ਮਾਗਨੁ ਨੀਕਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਮਾਗਨਾ ॥੪॥
maagnaa maagan neekaa har jas gur tay maagnaa. ||4||
Of all things to beg from the Guru, the best gift to ask for is God’s praises. ||4||
ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਖ਼ੈਰ ਮੰਗਣਾ-ਇਹ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਮੰਗਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵਧੀਆ ਮੰਗ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਜਾਗਨਾ ਜਾਗਨੁ ਨੀਕਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਗਨਾ ॥੫॥
jaagnaa jaagan neekaa har keertan meh jaagnaa. ||5||
Of all the vigils, the most fruitful one is that of staying alert and focused during singing praises of God. ||5||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਜਾਗਣਾ-ਇਹ ਹੋਰ ਜਗਰਾਤਿਆਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਉੱਤਮ ਜਗਰਾਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
ਲਾਗਨਾ ਲਾਗਨੁ ਨੀਕਾ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗਨਾ ॥੬॥
laagnaa laagan neekaa gur charnee man laagnaa. ||6||
Of all the attachments, the best attachment is to focus our mind on the Guru’s teachings. ||6||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਨ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਣਾ-ਇਹ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਲਗਨਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵਧੀਆ ਲਗਨ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਪਰਾਪਤੇ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗਨਾ ॥੭॥
ih biDh tiseh paraapatay jaa kai mastak bhaagnaa. ||7||
This way of life is received by the one who is so predestined. ||7||
ਇਹ ਜੀਵਨ-ਜੁਗਤਿ ਉਸੇ ਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਲਬਧ ਲਿਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਨੀਕਾ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਾਗਨਾ ॥੮॥੧॥੪॥
kaho naanak tis sabh kichh neekaa jo parabh kee sarnaaganaa. ||8||1||4||
O’ Nanak! say, everything done by that person turns good who seeks God’s refuge. ||8||1||4||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ, ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਕੰਮ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੋੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,| ॥੮॥੧॥੪॥

Raag Maaroo, Fifth Guru:
ਆਉ ਜੀ ਤੂ ਆਉ ਹਮਾਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ਸੁਨਾਵਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aa-o jee too aa-o hamaarai har jas sarvan sunaavanaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ my reverend Guru, please come to reside in my heart, and recite into my ears the praises of God. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸ, ਤੇ, ਮੇਰੇ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਤੁਧੁ ਆਵਤ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਤੁਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਗਾਵਨਾ ॥੧॥
tuDh aavat mayraa man tan hari-aa har jas tum sang gaavnaa. ||1||
O’ my dear Guru, my mind and my body spiritually rejuvenate with your arrival; because God’s praises can be sung only in your company. ||1||
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਆਇਆਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਮੇਰਾ ਤਨ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤੇਰੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਜਸ ਗਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸੰਤ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਾਸੈ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਮਿਟਾਵਨਾ ॥੨॥
sant kirpaa tay hirdai vaasai doojaa bhaa-o mitaavanaa. ||2||
God manifests in the heart only by the Guru’s grace, and the love for materialism can be removed. ||2||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਦੂਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਭਗਤ ਦਇਆ ਤੇ ਬੁਧਿ ਪਰਗਾਸੈ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਦੂਖ ਤਜਾਵਨਾ ॥੩॥
bhagat da-i-aa tay buDh pargaasai durmat dookh tajaavanaa. ||3||
Through the kindness of a devotee of God, a person’s intellect is enlightened with divine wisdom and all afflictions due to evil intellect are removed. ||3||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਖੋਟੀ ਮੱਤ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁਖ ਤਿਆਗੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਦਰਸਨੁ ਭੇਟਤ ਹੋਤ ਪੁਨੀਤਾ ਪੁਨਰਪਿ ਗਰਭਿ ਨ ਪਾਵਨਾ ॥੪॥
darsan bhaytat hot puneetaa punrap garabh na paavnaa. ||4||
Upon beholding the Guru and following his teachings, one’s life becomes immaculate and he is not made to go through the cycle of reincarnations. ||4||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਜੀਵਨ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਈਦਾ ॥੪॥
ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਰਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ਜੋ ਤੁਮਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵਨਾ ॥੫॥
na-o niDh riDh siDh paa-ee jo tumrai man bhaavnaa. ||5||
O’ God! one who has become pleasing to Your mind, becomes so fortunate as if he has received all the treasures of the world and miraculous powers.||5||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਹੜਾ (ਵਡਭਾਗੀ) ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ, (ਮਾਨੋ) ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਨੌ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਅਤੇ ਕਰਾਮਾਤੀ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਇਆਂ ਹਨ ॥੫॥
ਸੰਤ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੈ ਥਾਉ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਅਵਰ ਨ ਸੂਝੈ ਜਾਵਨਾ ॥੬॥
sant binaa mai thaa-o na ko-ee avar na soojhai jaavnaa. ||6||
Except for the Guru, I do not have any other support and I cannot think of anyone else to whom I can go for help. ||6||
ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਆਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਥਾਂ ਜਾਣਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁੱਝਦਾ ॥੬॥
ਮੋਹਿ ਨਿਰਗੁਨ ਕਉ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਰਾਖੈ ਸੰਤਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਮਾਵਨਾ ॥੭॥
mohi nirgun ka-o ko-ay na raakhai santaa sang samaavanaa. ||7||
No one provides any refuge to me, an un virtuous person, therefore I have to merge in God by staying in the company of saintly people. ||7||
ਮੇਰੀ ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਨ ਦੀ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਬਾਂਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਫੜਦਾ।ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈੈਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋਣਾ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਚਲਤੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ਮਨ ਮਧੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਵਨਾ ॥੮॥੨॥੫॥
kaho naanak gur chalat dikhaa-i-aa man maDhay har har raavnaa. ||8||2||5||
O’ Nanak, say that the Guru has shown such a wondrous play, that in my mind I am rejoicing the bliss of union with God. ||8||2||5||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ, ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਅਚਰਜ ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਿਖਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੮॥੨॥੫॥
