ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਭ੍ਰਮਤੇ ਭ੍ਰਮਤੇ ਦੁਲਭ ਜਨਮੁ ਅਬ ਪਾਇਓ ॥੧॥
lakh cha-oraaseeh bharamtay bharamtay dulabh janam ab paa-i-o. ||1||
After wandering through million lifetimes, you have now been granted this precious human life which is very difficult to get. ||1||
ਚੌਰਾਸੀ ਲੱਖ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭੌਂਦਿਆਂ ਭੌਦਿਆਂ ਹੁਣ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਰੇ ਮੂੜੇ ਤੂ ਹੋਛੈ ਰਸਿ ਲਪਟਾਇਓ ॥
ray moorhay too hochhai ras laptaa-i-o.
O’ fool, you are engrossed in trivial pleasures.
ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖ! ਤੂੰ ਤੁੱਛ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੇ) ਸੁਆਦ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਸਤੁ ਹੈ ਤੇਰੈ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਸਿਉ ਉਰਝਾਇਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
amrit sang basat hai tayrai bikhi-aa si-o urjhaa-i-o. ||1|| rahaa-o.
While the ambrosial nectar of Naam is available right within you, you are still entangled in the love for Maya, the poison for spiritual life. ||1||Pause||
ਅਟੱਲ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਚੰਬੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਰਤਨ ਜਵੇਹਰ ਬਨਜਨਿ ਆਇਓ ਕਾਲਰੁ ਲਾਦਿ ਚਲਾਇਓ ॥੨॥
ratan javayhar banjan aa-i-o kaalar laad chalaa-i-o. ||2||
You had come to this world to earn the wealth of jewel-like Naam, but you are going back, loaded with the dirt of sins. ||2||
ਤੂੰ ਆਇਆ ਸੈਂ ਰਤਨ ਤੇ ਜਵਾਹਰ ਖ਼ਰੀਦਣ ਲਈ, ਪਰ ਤੂੰ ਇੱਥੋਂ ਕੱਲਰ ਲੱਦ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਤੁਰ ਪਿਆ ਹੈਂ ॥੨॥
ਜਿਹ ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਰਹਨਾ ਬਸਨਾ ਸੋ ਘਰੁ ਚੀਤਿ ਨ ਆਇਓ ॥੩॥
jih ghar meh tuDh rahnaa basnaa so ghar cheet na aa-i-o. ||3||
Your real divine home where you are to permanently reside, the thought of that has not even crossed your mind. ||3||
ਜਿਸ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਰਹਿਣਾ-ਵੱਸਣਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਘਰ ਕਦੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਿੱਤ-ਚੇਤੇ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਇਆ ॥੩॥
ਅਟਲ ਅਖੰਡ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਨਹੀ ਤੁਝੁ ਗਾਇਓ ॥੪॥
atal akhand paraan sukh-daa-ee ik nimakh nahee tujh gaa-i-o. ||4||
Even for an instant, you have not recited the praise of God who is immortal, indestructible, provider of life and internal peace. ||4||
ਤੂੰ ਅੱਖ ਝਮਕਣ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਮੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਭੀ ਕਦੇ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ, ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਜਹਾ ਜਾਣਾ ਸੋ ਥਾਨੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਓ ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਨਹੀ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਇਓ ॥੫॥
jahaa jaanaa so thaan visaar-i-o ik nimakh nahee man laa-i-o. ||5||
You have totally forgotten your divine home, where you have to go for sure and not for a single moment, have you reflected on it. ||5||
ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖ! ਜਿਸ ਥਾਂ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਵਲ ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਅੱਖ ਦੇ ਝਮਕਣ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਕਦੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੫॥
ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤ੍ਰ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਦੇਖਿ ਸਮਗ੍ਰੀ ਇਸ ਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਉਰਝਾਇਓ ॥੬॥
putar kaltar garih daykh samagree is hee meh urjhaa-i-o. ||6||
Looking at your sons, wife, house, and other possessions, you have remained entangled in the love of these worldly attachments. ||6||
ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਤੇ ਘਰ ਦਾ ਸਾਮਾਨ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਤੂੰ ਫਸਿਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈਂ ॥੬॥
ਜਿਤੁ ਕੋ ਲਾਇਓ ਤਿਤ ਹੀ ਲਾਗਾ ਤੈਸੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇਓ ॥੭॥
jit ko laa-i-o tit hee laagaa taisay karam kamaa-i-o. ||7||
Based on one’s past deeds, to whatever deeds one is assigned, remains engaged in them and keeps doing those deeds. ||7||
ਜਿਸ ਕੰਮ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਜੀਵ ਲਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਲੱਗਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਕੰਮ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
ਜਉ ਭਇਓ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਤਾ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਓ ॥੮॥੧॥
ja-o bha-i-o kirpaal taa saaDhsang paa-i-aa jan naanak barahm Dhi-aa-i-o. ||8||1||
O’ devotee Nanak! when God becomes merciful, then one receives the company of the Guru and focuses his mind on remembering God. ||8||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀਵ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਾਥ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੮॥੧॥

Raag Maaroo, Fifth Guru:
ਕਰਿ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੀਨੋ ਭਇਓ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੁ ॥
kar anoograhu raakh leeno bha-i-o saaDhoo sang.
Bestowing mercy, whom God protects (from the worldly distractions), he gets united with the Guru.
ਦਇਆ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਰਸੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਉਚਾਰੈ ਮਿਸਟ ਗੂੜਾ ਰੰਗੁ ॥੧॥
har naam ras rasnaa uchaaray misat goorhaa rang. ||1||
Then imbued with the intense and sweet love of God, he recites His Name with his tongue. ||1||
ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਦਾ) ਮਿੱਠਾ ਗੂੜ੍ਹਾ ਰੰਗ ਚੜ੍ਹਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਨ ਕੋ ਅਸਥਾਨੁ ॥ ਮੀਤ ਸਾਜਨ ਸਖਾ ਬੰਧਪੁ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਜਾਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mayray maan ko asthaan. meet sajan sakhaa banDhap antarjaamee jaan. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The omniscient God is the support of my mind; He is my friend, my companion and relative. ||1||Pause||
ਸਭ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੁਜਾਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੱਜਣ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਥੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਉਪਾਇਓ ਸਰਣਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਗਹੀ ॥
sansaar saagar jin upaa-i-o saran parabh kee gahee.
One who has sought the refuge of God, the creator of this worldly ocean,
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ) ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਰਾਧੇ ਜਮਕੰਕਰੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਨ ਕਹੀ ॥੨॥
gur parsaadee parabh araaDhay jamkankar kichh na kahee. ||2||
by Guru’s grace, he lovingly meditates on God and then even the demon of death does not bother him. ||2||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਮਦੂਤ ਭੀ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਖਦਾ ॥੨॥
ਮੋਖ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਦੁਆਰਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਤ ਰਿਦਾ ਭੰਡਾਰੁ ॥
mokh mukat du-aar jaa kai sant ridaa bhandaar.
It is at God’s door that one finds liberation from vices, the treasure of His Name abides in the heart of His saints.
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜੋ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ),
ਜੀਅ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਦਾ ਰਾਖਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੩॥
jee-a jugat sujaan su-aamee sadaa raakhanhaar. ||3||
The same Master-God is always our savior; that wise God shows the way of righteous living. ||3||
ਉਹੀ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਦਾ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਸੁਜਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਜੀਊਣ ਦੀ ਜਾਚ ਸਿਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਦੂਖ ਦਰਦ ਕਲੇਸ ਬਿਨਸਹਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਬਸੈ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
dookh darad kalays binsahi jis basai man maahi.
One in whose mind God manifests, his pains, sufferings and troubles vanish.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦਰਦ ਤੇ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਮਿਰਤੁ ਨਰਕੁ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਬਿਖੜੇ ਬਿਖੁ ਨ ਪੋਹੈ ਤਾਹਿ ॥੪॥
mirat narak asthaan bikh-rhay bikh na pohai taahi. ||4||
The fears of death, sufferings, dreadful places, or the poison of worldly riches cannot afflict him. ||4||
ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ, ਨਰਕ, ਹੋਰ ਔਖੇ ਥਾਂ, ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਅਸਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੪॥
ਰਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਾ ਪਰਵਾਹ ॥
riDh siDh nav niDh jaa kai amritaa parvaah.
God, who has all the powers, all the treasures of the world, and from whom flow the streams of rejuvenating nectar of Naam,
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਾਮਾਤੀ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਦੇ ਚਸ਼ਮੇ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ,
ਆਦਿ ਅੰਤੇ ਮਧਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਊਚ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਹ ॥੫॥
aad antay maDh pooran ooch agam agaah. ||5||
He was present in the beginning, is present now, and would be there at the end; God is the highest of all, incomprehensible, unfathomable and perfect. ||5||
ਉਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਵਿਚ, ਅੰਤ ਵਿਚ, ਵਿਚਕਾਰਲੇ ਸਮੇ ਵਿਚ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ, ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਅਥਾਹ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਦੇਵ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਬੇਦ ਕਰਹਿ ਉਚਾਰੁ ॥
siDh saaDhik dayv mun jan bayd karahi uchaar.
The yogis, the seekers, the gods, the silent sages, and those who recite Vedas,
ਜੋਗ-ਸਾਧਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪੁੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਜੋਗੀ, ਜੋਗ-ਸਾਧਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਜੋਗੀ, ਦੇਵਤੇ, ਮੋਨ-ਧਾਰੀ ਸਾਧੂ, ਉਹ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਜੋ ਵੇਦਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਠ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜਿ ਭੁੰਚਹਿ ਨਹੀ ਅੰਤੁ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰੁ ॥੬॥
simar su-aamee sukh sahj bhuNcheh nahee ant paaraavaar. ||6||
only by lovingly remembering God, they enjoy such peace and poise which has no end. ||6||
ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਐਸਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ) ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ (ਜੋ ਕਦੇ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ) ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਉਰਲਾ ਪਾਰਲਾ ਬੰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੬॥
ਅਨਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਛਤ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਜਪਿ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥
anik paraachhat miteh khin meh ridai jap bhagvaan.
Countless sins are erased in a moment by meditating on God’s Name with heart.
ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਭਗਵਾਨ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਜਪ ਕੇ ਇਕ ਛਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਪਾਪ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪਾਵਨਾ ਤੇ ਮਹਾ ਪਾਵਨ ਕੋਟਿ ਦਾਨ ਇਸਨਾਨ ॥੭॥
paavnaa tay mahaa paavan kot daan isnaan. ||7||
This meditating on Naam is the most immaculate devotional worship and is better than millions of donations and millions of baths at holy places. ||7||
ਇਹ ( ਨਾਮ) ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵਧੀਕ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਹੀ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਦਾਨ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਤੀਰਥ-ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਹਨ ॥੭॥
ਬਲ ਬੁਧਿ ਸੁਧਿ ਪਰਾਣ ਸਰਬਸੁ ਸੰਤਨਾ ਕੀ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
bal buDh suDh paraan sarbas santnaa kee raas.
For the spiritual persons, God’s Name is their power, the wisdom, the understanding, their life and everything.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਬਲ ਹੈ, ਬੁੱਧੀ ਹੈ, ਸੂਝ-ਬੂਝ ਹੈ, ਜਿੰਦ ਹੈ, ਇਹੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਸਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਨਿਮਖ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥੮॥੨॥
bisar naahee nimakh man tay naanak kee ardaas. ||8||2||
O’ God, it is Nanak’s prayer that You may never leave my mind even for an instant. ||8||2||
ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ ਭੀ ਇਹੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਹੈ-ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਅੱਖ ਝਮਕਣ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਨਾਹ ਭੁੱਲ ॥੮॥੨॥

Raag Maaroo, Fifth Guru:
ਸਸਤ੍ਰਿ ਤੀਖਣਿ ਕਾਟਿ ਡਾਰਿਓ ਮਨਿ ਨ ਕੀਨੋ ਰੋਸੁ ॥
sastar teekhan kaat daari-o man na keeno ros.
O’ my mind, if one cuts down a tree with a sharp tool, the tree did not hold a grudge in its mind.
(ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਰੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ) ਤੇਜ਼ ਹਥਿਆਰ ਨਾਲ ਕੱਟ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ (ਰੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ) ਗੁੱਸਾ ਨਾਹ ਕੀਤਾ|
ਕਾਜੁ ਉਆ ਕੋ ਲੇ ਸਵਾਰਿਓ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਦੀਨੋ ਦੋਸੁ ॥੧॥
kaaj u-aa ko lay savaari-o til na deeno dos. ||1||
Instead, it helped him accomplish his purpose, and did not blame him a bit. ||1||
(ਸਗੋਂ ਰੁੱਖ ਨੇ) ਉਸ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਸਵਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਤੇ, (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਕੋਈ ਦੋਸ਼ ਨਾਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧॥
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਰਉ ਨਿਤ ਨੀਤਿ ॥
man mayray raam ra-o nit neet.
O’ my mind, always keep meditating on God with love,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ,
ਦਇਆਲ ਦੇਵ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸੁਨਿ ਸੰਤਨਾ ਕੀ ਰੀਤਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
da-i-aal dayv kirpaal gobind sun santnaa kee reet. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and listen to the way of life of the saintly persons who meditate on the merciful and illuminating Master-God. ||1||Pause||
ਦਇਆਲ, ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼-ਰੂਪ, ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ (ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ)। (ਉਹ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ? ਉਹਨਾਂ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਸੁਣ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
