Sukhmani Sahib is authored by Guru Arjan, the fifth Sikh Guru, is a composition of great significance and highly esteemed in the Guru Granth Sahib. This is one of the most respected writings in Guru Granth Sahib also called “Prayer of Peace.” It is composed of twenty-four Ashtapadis, each with eight stanzas; each Ashtpadi (consisting of 8 stanzas) focusing on different aspects such as inner peace or experiencing god everywhere while still remaining dedicated towards practicing meditation through using his name in mind only. This scripture gives comfort as well as spiritual guidance to its readers who include followers of Sikhism motivating them towards being meek and compassionate. It is commonly held that by reciting Sukhmani Sahib regularly, one can achieve a state of peace, contentment, and divine favor.
