ਜੀਅ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਇ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਸੇ ਸਚੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਹੀ ॥
jee-a daan day-ay tariptaasay sachai naam samaahee.
Those to whom the Guru bestows the gift of spiritual life, become satiated from worldly desires and they always remain absorbed in the eternal God’s Name.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਰਿਦ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਲਗਾਹੀ ॥੨॥
an-din har ravi-aa rid antar sahj samaaDh lagaahee. ||2||
God always remains enshrined in their heart, and they remain absorbed in meditation in a state of spiritual poise. ||2||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਵੱਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੀ ਤਾੜੀ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਭੇਦਿਆ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਾਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
satgur sabdee ih man bhaydi-aa hirdai saachee banee.
One whose mind gets pierced by the true Guru’s word, the eternal God’s praises remain enshrined within his heart.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਵਿੱਝ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਲਖੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਲਖਿਆ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਣੀ ॥
mayraa parabh alakh na jaa-ee lakhi-aa gurmukh akath kahaanee.
My God is incomprehensible and cannot be understood; the praises of the indescribable God can be sung only by following the Guru’s teachings.
ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਅਲੱਖ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਹੀ ਸਰੂਪ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਅਕੱਥ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਆਪੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰੇ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਜਪੀਐ ਸਾਰਿੰਗਪਾਣੀ ॥੩॥
aapay da-i-aa karay sukh-daata japee-ai saaringpaanee. ||3||
When the bliss-giving God Himself bestows mercy, only then He can be remembered with loving devotion. ||3|| |
ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਧਨੁਖ-ਧਾਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣਾ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
aavan jaanaa bahurh na hovai gurmukh sahj Dhi-aa-i-aa.
One who follows the Guru’s teachings and lovingly remembers God in a state of spiritual poise, and does not go through the cycle of birth and death ever again.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿੱਕ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
ਮਨ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਮਨੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮਨ ਹੀ ਮੰਨੁ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥
man hee tay man mili-aa su-aamee man hee man samaa-i-aa.
He realizes God by reflecting on his mind and his mind gets absorbed within itself.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹੀ ਆਪੇ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ (ਫਿਰ) ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਚੇ ਹੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਚਿ ਪਤੀਜੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥੪॥
saachay hee sach saach pateejai vichahu aap gavaa-i-aa. ||4||
By enshrining the eternal God’s Name in his heart, he remains appeased with God and eradicates his self-conceit. ||4||
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਗਿੱਝਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਏਕੋ ਏਕੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
ayko ayk vasai man su-aamee doojaa avar na ko-ee.
Those in whose mind God always remains enshrined and none other even enters their thoughts,
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਵੱਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੱਸਦਾ,
ਏਕੋੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹੈ ਮੀਠਾ ਜਗਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਈ ॥
ayko naam amrit hai meethaa jag nirmal sach so-ee.
to them only the ambrosial nectar of God’s Name is sweet; they visualize God who is immaculate and eternal everywhere in this world.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਉਹੀ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੇ ਪਾਈਐ ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਈ ॥੫॥੪॥
naanak naam parabhoo tay paa-ee-ai jin ka-o Dhur likhi-aa ho-ee. ||5||4||
O’ Nanak, God’s Name is received only from God, and only they receive it who are preordained. ||5||4||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਮਿਲਦਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੈ) ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਧੁਰ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਦਾ ਲੇਖ) ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੫॥੪॥

Raag Malaar, Third Guru:
ਗਣ ਗੰਧਰਬ ਨਾਮੇ ਸਭਿ ਉਧਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
gan ganDharab naamay sabh uDhray gur kaa sabad veechaar.
Even the angels who worship and sing for god Shiva, have crossed over the world-ocean of vices by reflecting on the Guru’s word and remembering God.
ਗਣ ਗੰਧਰਬ (ਆਦਿਕ ਦੇਵ-ਸ਼੍ਰੇਣੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ) ਸਾਰੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਸਦ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
ha-umai maar sad man vasaa-i-aa har raakhi-aa ur Dhaar.
By eradicating ego, they always kept God enshrined in their hearts and kept God’s Name in their mind.
ਹਉਮੈ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਕਾ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖਿਆ।
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਸੋਈ ਬੂਝੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪੇ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
jisahi bujhaa-ay so-ee boojhai jis no aapay la-ay milaa-ay.
Only that person understands the righteous way of life, upon whom God bestows wisdom and unites with Him.
ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸੂਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦੇ ਗਾਂਵੈ ਸਾਚਿ ਰਹੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥
an-din banee sabday gaaNvai saach rahai liv laa-ay. ||1||
That person then always sings God’s praises through the Guru’s word, and always keeps his mind attuned to the eternal God. ||1||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲਿ ॥
man mayray khin khin naam samHaal.
O’ my mind, lovingly remember God’s Name at each and every moment,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਇਕ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਯਾਦ ਕਰ।
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਸਬਦ ਸੁਖੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਬਹੈ ਤੇਰੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur kee daat sabad sukh antar sadaa nibhai tayrai naal. ||1|| rahaa-o.
the bliss of the gift of the Guru’s word would remain enshrined within you and would always stays with you. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹੇਗਾ। ਹੇ ਮਨ!(ਇਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ) ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਥ ਬਣਾਈ ਰੱਖੇਗਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਪਾਖੰਡੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਚੂਕੈ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
manmukh pakhand kaday na chookai doojai bhaa-ay dukh paa-ay.
The hypocrisy of self-willed persons never ends and they continue to endure sufferings due to their love for materialism.
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਖੰਡ ਕਦੇ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ। ਉਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹਾਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥
naam visaar bikhi-aa man raatay birthaa janam gavaa-ay.
By forgetting God’s Name, their mind remains imbued with the love for worldly riches and they waste their life in vain
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਗਵਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਇਹ ਵੇਲਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਹਥਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਪਛੁਤਾਏ ॥
ih vaylaa fir hath na aavai an-din sadaa pachhutaa-ay.
They do not get this opportunity again and they regret it forever.
ਉਹਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ (ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਦਾ) ਸਮਾ ਮੁੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ, (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਸਦਾ ਹੱਥ ਮਲਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮੈ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਬੂਝੈ ਵਿਸਟਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੨॥
mar mar janmai kaday na boojhai vistaa maahi samaa-ay. ||2||
They remain in the cycle of birth and death, and cannot understand the righteous way of life and are finally consumed in the filth of vices.
ਉਹ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ , ਅਤੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੇ ਉਧਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
gurmukh naam ratay say uDhray gur kaa sabad veechaar.
The Guru’s followers remain imbued with God’s Name, and cross over the world-ocean of vices by reflecting on the Guru’s word.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੇ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜੀਵਨ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
jeevan mukat har naam Dhi-aa-i-aa har raakhi-aa ur Dhaar.|
Those who lovingly remember God’s Name and enshrine it in their heart, they attain freedom from the vices while yet alive in this world.
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਜੀਊਂਦੇ ਜੀ ਹੀ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਮਤਿ ਊਤਮ ਊਤਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਹੋਈ ॥
man tan nirmal nirmal mat ootam ootam banee ho-ee.
Their body and mind become immaculate, their intellect and their words become sublime.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਉੱਚੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਬੋਲ-ਚਾਲ ਉੱਤਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਏਕੋ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਏਕੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਤਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥੩॥
ayko purakh ayk parabh jaataa doojaa avar na ko-ee. ||3||
They understand that there is only one all pervading God, and beside Him there is none other at all. ||3||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਕ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਹੈ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ॥੩॥
ਆਪੇ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਏ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੇ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
aapay karay karaa-ay parabh aapay aapay nadar karay-i.
God Himself does everything and He Himself gets everything done, He Himself bestows His gracious glance upon the beings.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਕਰਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਉਤੇ) ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸਮੇਇ ॥
man tan raataa gur kee banee sayvaa surat samay-ay.
(One upon whom God bestows mercy), his body and mind get imbued with the Guru’s word, and his consciousness remains absorbed in remembering God,
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਮਨ (ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਤਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ (ਦੇ ਰੰਗ) ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਵਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਇ ਲਖਾਇ ॥|
antar vasi-aa alakh abhayvaa gurmukh ho-ay lakhaa-ay.
One who follows the Guru’s teachings, the Guru helps him experience the incomprehensible and mysterious God residing within.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਦਰ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਅਲੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਅਭੇਵ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਕਰਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਵੈ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਚਲਾਇ ॥੪॥੫॥
naanak jis bhaavai tis aapay dayvai bhaavai tivai chalaa-ay. ||4||5||
O’ Nanak, God gives this gift of Naam to the one who is pleasing to Him and makes a person conduct himself as He (God) wishes. ||4||5||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਭਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਦਾਤ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਉਤੇ ਤੋਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੫॥

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਵੈ ਘਰੁ ਦਰੁ ਮਹਲੁ ਸੁ ਥਾਨੁ ॥
satgur tay paavai ghar dar mahal so thaan.
One can find the way to God’s abode (realization) only through the true Guru,
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਮਹਲ ਅਤੇ ਥਾਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਚੂਕੈ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥੧॥
gur sabdee chookai abhimaan. ||1||
and it is by following the Guru’s word that one’s ego is dispelled. ||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਲਿਲਾਟਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
jin ka-o lilaat likhi-aa Dhur naam.
Those who have the preordained destiny to remember God’s Name,
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਧੁਰ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਨਾਮ (ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ) ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਸਾਚੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਾਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
an-din naam sadaa sadaa Dhi-aavahi saachee dargeh paavahi maan. ||1|| rahaa-o.
they keep on remembering God’s Name all the time, and receive honor in the eternal God’s presence. ||1||Pause||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਆਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮਨ ਕੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਜਾਣੈ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਸਦ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥
man kee biDh satgur tay jaanai an-din laagai sad har si-o Dhi-aan.
One who learns from the true Guru the method of conquering mind, his mind always and forever remains focused on remembering God.
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਤਣ ਦਾ ਢੰਗ ਸਿੱਖ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਲੱਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
