ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਹੋਆ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਸਮਾਣਾ ਚੂਕਿ ਗਇਆ ਪਾਸਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੧॥
jis tay ho-aa tiseh samaanaa chook ga-i-aa paasaaraa. ||4||1||
God from whom this world comes into existence, it merges back into Him; and so the entire expanse of the world comes to an end. ||4||1||
ਜਿਸ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਤੋਂ (ਜਗਤ) ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ , ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ-ਖਿਲਾਰਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧॥

Raag Malaar, Third Guru:
ਜਿਨੀ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਸੇ ਮੇਲੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇ ॥
jinee hukam pachhaani-aa say maylay ha-umai sabad jalaa-ay.
Those human beings who have followed God’s will, God has united them with Him by burning their ego through the divine word.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਸਾੜ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਜੋੜ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਸਚੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਚਿ ਰਹੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
sachee bhagat karahi din raatee sach rahay liv laa-ay.
They perform true devotional worship day and night, and they remain lovingly attuned to the eternal God.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਲਿਵ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਦਾ ਸਚੁ ਹਰਿ ਵੇਖਦੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥੧॥
sadaa sach har vaykh-day gur kai sabad subhaa-ay. ||1||
Through the Guru’s word they become imbued with the eternal God’s love and always visualize Him pervading everywhere. ||1||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿਕ ਕੇ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਵੇਖਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਮਨ ਰੇ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
man ray hukam man sukh ho-ay.
O’ my mind, follow God’s will; by doing so one finds inner peace.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ) ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਿਆ ਕਰ, (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਣਾ ਅਪਣਾ ਭਾਵਦਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਬਖਸੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
parabh bhaanaa apnaa bhaavdaa jis bakhsay tis bighan na ko-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ my mind, God loves His own will and that human being, upon whom He bestows mercy, follows His will and faces no obstacles in his life. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ), ਉਸ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਰੁਕਾਵਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਸਭਾ ਧਾਤੁ ਹੈ ਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਭਾਇ ॥
tarai gun sabhaa Dhaat hai naa har bhagat na bhaa-ay.
Being attached to the three impulses (vice, virtue and power) is nothing but running after Maya; it is neither devotional worship nor love for God.
ਤ੍ਰਿਗੁਣੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਜੁੜੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ) ਨਿਰੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਰਿਹਾਂ) ਨਾਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ, ਨਾਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗਤਿ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਹਿ ॥
gat mukat kaday na hova-ee ha-umai karam kamaahi.
In this state, there can be no higher spiritual status, nor liberation from vices, and the human beings just keep on doing the ego-enhancing deeds.
(ਤ੍ਰਿਗੁਣੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ) ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ, ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ। ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਉਮੈ (ਵਧਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ) ਕੰਮ (ਹੀ) ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਾਹਿਬ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਥੀਐ ਪਇਐ ਕਿਰਤਿ ਫਿਰਾਹਿ ॥੨॥
saahib bhaavai so thee-ai pa-i-ai kirat firaahi. ||2||
Whatever pleases God is what happens, and the mortals keep wandering in various reincarnations as per the destiny based on the previous deeds. ||2||
ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਮਾਲਕ-ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਜੀਵ ਭਟਕਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭੇਟਿਐ ਮਨੁ ਮਰਿ ਰਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
satgur bhayti-ai man mar rahai har naam vasai man aa-ay.
O’ my friend, as one meets the true Guru and follows his teachings, one gets rid of the selfishness and God’s Name dwells within his mind.
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ, ਤਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ (ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਾ ਪਵੈ ਕਹਣਾ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
tis kee keemat naa pavai kahnaa kichhoo na jaa-ay.
Then that person’s life becomes so immaculate that it’s worth cannot be evaluated and cannot be described.
(ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਇਤਨਾ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਚਉਥੈ ਪਦਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸਚੈ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੩॥
cha-uthai pad vaasaa ho-i-aa sachai rahai samaa-ay. ||3||
Such a person attains the fourth state (higher spiritual state), and he remains absorbed in the eternal God. ||3||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਹੈ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
mayraa har parabh agam agochar hai keemat kahan na jaa-ay.
My God is inaccessible, beyond the reach of the senses, and cannot be acquired at the cost of any worldly wealth.
ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ, ਕਿਸੇ ਦੁਨੀਆਵੀ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਦੇ ਵੱਟੇ ਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਬੁਝੀਐ ਸਬਦੇ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
gur parsaadee bujhee-ai sabday kaar kamaa-ay.
It’s only by the Guru’s grace that one realizes God and does every deed in accordance with the Guru’s teachings.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ (ਹਰੇਕ) ਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਿ ਤੂ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਇ ॥੪॥੨॥
naanak naam salaahi too har har dar sobhaa paa-ay. ||4||2||
O’ Nanak, always remember God with love and devotion, and one who does that is honored in His presence. ||4||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ। (ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨॥

Raag Malaar, Third Guru:
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
gurmukh ko-ee virlaa boojhai jis no nadar karay-i.
It is only a rare Guru’s follower on whom God bestows His grace understands,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ (ਇਹ) ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹੀ ਬਖਸੇ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
gur bin daataa ko-ee naahee bakhsay nadar karay-i.
that except for the Guru, there is no other bestower of God’s Name; on whom the Guru casts his glance of grace, he bestows the gift of Name.
(ਕਿ) ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ) ਦਾਤ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਨਾਮ) ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਊਪਜੈ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਏਇ ॥੧॥
gur mili-ai saaNt oopjai an-din naam la-ay-ay. ||1||
Upon meeting the Guru, tranquility springs up in the mind, and by following his teachings, the human being always keeps remembering God’s Name. ||1||
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ, ਤਾਂ (ਮਨ ਵਿਚ) ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਅਤੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥
mayray man har amrit naam Dhi-aa-ay.
O’ my mind, always remember God’s ambrosial Name.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਨਾਉ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਸਦਾ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
satgur purakh milai naa-o paa-ee-ai har naamay sadaa samaa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
When one meets the all-powerful true Guru, he obtains the gift of God’s Name and then he always remains absorbed in it. ||1||Pause||
ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਰਦ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਸਦਾ ਵਿਛੁੜੇ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਕਿਸ ਹੀ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
manmukh sadaa vichhurhay fireh ko-ay na kis hee naal.
The self-willed persons always remain separated from God, and keep wandering alone, not realizing that no one can always remain with anybody till the end.
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ) ਵਿੱਛੁੜ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਭਟਕਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਉਹ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਕਿ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੋਹ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਦਾ ਸਾਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਨਿਬਾਹ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਹਉਮੈ ਵਡਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਹੈ ਸਿਰਿ ਮਾਰੇ ਜਮਕਾਲਿ ॥
ha-umai vadaa rog hai sir maaray jamkaal.
They remain afflicted with the chronic disease of ego, and the demon of death punishes them severely.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਉਮੈ ਦਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਰੋਗ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰ-ਪਰਨੇ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਨ ਵਿਛੁੜਹਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲਿ ॥੨॥
gurmat satsangat na vichhurheh an-din naam samHaal. ||2||
Those who follow the Guru’s teachings, are never separated from the company of the saintly people and they always keep God’s Name in their mind ||2||
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਵਸਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਤੋਂ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿੱਛੁੜਦੇ ॥੨॥
ਸਭਨਾ ਕਰਤਾ ਏਕੁ ਤੂ ਨਿਤ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖਹਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
sabhnaa kartaa ayk too nit kar daykheh veechaar.
O’ God, You are the one and only Creator of all and after thinking about them, You take care of them.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ, ਅਤੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਭੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਇਕਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਬਖਸੇ ਭਗਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥
ik gurmukh aap milaa-i-aa bakhsay bhagat bhandaar.
You have united many human beings with Yourself through the Guru who bestows upon them the treasure of Your devotion.
ਕਈ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ (ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ) ਜੋੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੀ) ਭਗਤੀ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਕਿਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਕਰੀ ਪੂਕਾਰ ॥੩॥
too aapay sabh kichh jaandaa kis aagai karee pookaar. ||3||
O’ God, You Yourself know everything (about the desires in our minds), who else may I beg from ? ||3||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਸ ਅੱਗੇ ਕੋਈ ਫਰਿਆਦ ਕਰਾਂ? ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਸਾਡੇ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਦੀ) ਹਰੇਕ ਮੰਗ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੩॥
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹੈ ਨਦਰੀ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
har har naam amrit hai nadree paa-i-aa jaa-ay.
God’s Name is the ambrosial nectar; it is obtained through God’s grace.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਚਰੈ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥
an-din har har uchrai gur kai sahj subhaa-ay.
One on whom God bestows mercy, attains a state of equipoise through the Guru’s grace and always chants God’s Name.
(ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿੱਕ ਕੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਟਿੱਕ ਕੇ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹੈ ਨਾਮੇ ਹੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥੪॥੩॥
naanak naam niDhaan hai naamay hee chit laa-ay. ||4||3||
O’ Nanak, (for that person) God’s Name is a treasure; so he keeps the mind attuned only to God’s Name. ||4||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਚਿੱਤ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੩॥

Raag Malaar, Third Guru:
ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੁ ਸੋਈ ॥
gur saalaahee sadaa sukh-daata parabh naaraa-in so-ee.
I always praise the Guru who is the provider of all comforts; for me he is my master and the embodiment of God.
ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਸਦਾ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਲਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ (ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਉਹ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹੋਈ ॥
gur parsaad param pad paa-i-aa vadee vadi-aa-ee ho-ee.
A person who has attained the highest spiritual status by the Guru’s grace, he is honored in this world and the world hereafter.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਦਰਜਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿੱਚ) ਬੜੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਬਣ ਗਈ,
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਨਿਤ ਸਾਚੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ॥੧॥
an-din gun gaavai nit saachay sach samaavai so-ee. ||1||
Such a person always sings glorious praises of the eternal God, and remains merged in the eternal God. ||1||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਮਨ ਰੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
man ray gurmukh ridai veechaar.
O’ my mind, by following the Guru’s teachings, reflect on God’s virtues in the heart .
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਵਿਚਾਰਿਆ ਕਰ।
ਤਜਿ ਕੂੜੁ ਕੁਟੰਬੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਬਿਖੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਚਲਣੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
taj koorh kutamb ha-umai bikh tarisnaa chalan ridai samHaal. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Abandon falsehood, family attachment, ego and desires for poisonous worldly pleasures; remember your inevitable departure from this world. ||1||Pause||
ਝੂਠ ਛੱਡ, ਕੁਟੰਬ (ਦਾ ਮੋਹ) ਛੱਡ, ਹਉਮੈ ਤਿਆਗ, ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਛੱਡ। ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਯਾਦ ਰੱਖ (ਕਿ ਇਥੋਂ) ਕੂਚ ਕਰਨਾ (ਹੈ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਕਾ ਹੋਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
satgur daataa raam naam kaa hor daataa ko-ee naahee.
O’ my friends, only the true Guru is the bestower of God’s Name; beside him there is no other (bestower of Naam).
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ (ਸਿਰਫ਼) ਗੁਰੂ (ਹੀ) ਹੈ, (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ) ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ (ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ।
