ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੁ ਹੈ ਨਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਤਮਾਇ ॥
mayraa parabh vayparvaahu hai naa tis til na tamaa-ay.
My God is not dependent on any; He doesn’t have even an iota of greed.
ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਮੁਥਾਜੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਰਤਾ ਜਿਤਨਾ ਭੀ ਲਾਲਚ ਨਹੀਂ
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਭਜਿ ਪਉ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੪॥੫॥
naanak tis sarnaa-ee bhaj pa-o aapay bakhas milaa-ay. ||4||5||
O’ Nanak, run to His refuge; He bestows mercy (on the one in His refuge) and unites him with Himself. ||4||5||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਛੇਤੀ ਜਾ ਪਉ, (ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਨੂੰ) ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੫॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਪਿਓ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਕ ਜਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੇ ॥
japi-o naam suk janak gur bachnee har har saran paray.
Following the Guru’s teachings, Sukhdev, a sage, and Janak, a king, meditated on the Naam, and sought God’s refuge.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਰਾਜਾ ਜਨਕ ਨੇ, ਸੁਕਦੇਵ ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ, ਇਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪਏ;
ਦਾਲਦੁ ਭੰਜਿ ਸੁਦਾਮੇ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਭਗਤੀ ਭਾਇ ਤਰੇ ॥
daalad bhanj sudaamay mili-o bhagtee bhaa-ay taray.
Similarly, dispelling his abject poverty (god Krishna) came to meet with Sudama (his friend) and due to their loving devotional worship of God, they were all emancipated.
ਸੁਦਾਮਾ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ ਗ਼ਰੀਬੀ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸੁਦਾਮੇ ਨੂੰ ਆ ਮਿਲਿਆ। ਇਹ ਸਭ ਭਗਤੀ-ਭਾਵਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘੇ।
ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਤਾਰਥੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ॥੧॥
bhagat vachhal har naam kirtaarath gurmukh kirpaa karay. ||1||
God loves devotional worship; His Name is spiritually fulfilling, but only those on whom He bestows mercy through the Guru, are blessed with it. ||1||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਭਗਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ) ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਬਣਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। (ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਉਧਰੇ ॥
mayray man naam japat uDhray.
O’ my mind, by meditating on God’s Name, many have been saved from vices.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ (ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ) ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਧ੍ਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦੁ ਬਿਦਰੁ ਦਾਸੀ ਸੁਤੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਤਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Dharoo par-hilaad bidar daasee sut gurmukh naam taray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Dhroo, Prahlaad and Bidar, the son of a slave girl, all crossed over the world-ocean of vices by meditating on Naam through the Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਧ੍ਰੂ ਭਗਤ, ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦ ਭਗਤ, ਦਾਸੀ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਬਿਦਰ-(ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਲਜੁਗਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਉਧਰੇ ॥
kaljug naam parDhaan padaarath bhagat janaa uDhray.
Naam is the supreme commodity in KalYug; it was by virtue of Naam that many devotees got saved from the vices.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਹੈ। ਭਗਤ ਜਨ (ਇਸ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ) ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਮਾ ਜੈਦੇਉ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਲੋਚਨੁ ਸਭਿ ਦੋਖ ਗਏ ਚਮਰੇ ॥
naamaa jaiday-o kabeer tarilochan sabh dokh ga-ay chamray.
Namdev, Jaydev, Kabir, Trilochan, and Ravidas were all liberated from their sins.
ਨਾਮਦੇਵ , ਜੈਦੇਉ , ਕਬੀਰ , ਤ੍ਰਿਲੋਚਨ ਅਤੇ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ; ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਇਹਨਾ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਗੇ ਸੇ ਉਧਰੇ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਪਾਪ ਟਰੇ ॥੨॥
gurmukh naam lagay say uDhray sabh kilbikh paap taray. ||2||
O’ my mind,those who followed Guru’s teachings, and attuned themselves to God’s Name, were saved and all their sins were washed off. ||2||
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਜਿਹੜੇ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗੇ ਉਹ ਸਭ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਗਏ, (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਟਲ ਗਏ ॥੨॥
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੈ ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ਸਭਿ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਦੋਖ ਪਰਹਰੇ ॥
jo jo naam japai apraaDhee sabh tin kay dokh parharay.
God washes away all sins of any sinner who meditates on Naam.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਜਿਹੜਾ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਵਿਕਾਰੀ ਬੰਦਾ (ਭੀ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬੇਸੁਆ ਰਵਤ ਅਜਾਮਲੁ ਉਧਰਿਓ ਮੁਖਿ ਬੋਲੈ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੁ ਨਰਹਰੇ ॥
baysu-aa ravat ajaamal uDhaari-o mukh bolai naaraa-in narharay.
Ajamall, who used to have illicit relations with a prostitute, was saved when he sincerely started reciting God’s Name from his tongue.
ਵੇਸੁਆ ਦਾ ਸੰਗ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਅਜਾਮਲ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ‘ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਨਰਹਰੀ’ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਪਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਗਿਆ।
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਉਗ੍ਰਸੈਣਿ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਤੋੜਿ ਬੰਧਨ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕਰੇ ॥੩॥
naam japat ugarsain gat paa-ee torh banDhan mukat karay. ||3||
Similarly, by meditating on God’s Name, king Ugarsain was blessed with the supreme status, and breaking all his worldly bonds he was emancipated. ||3||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ ਉਗ੍ਰਸੈਣ ਨੇ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਤੋੜ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ॥੩॥
ਜਨ ਕਉ ਆਪਿ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਕੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਗੀਕਾਰੁ ਕਰੇ ॥
jan ka-o aap anoograhu kee-aa har angeekaar karay.
O’ my friends, God bestows mercy on His devotees, and always sides with them.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤ ਉਤੇ (ਸਦਾ) ਆਪ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤ ਦਾ (ਸਦਾ) ਪੱਖ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੇਵਕ ਪੈਜ ਰਖੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਗੋਵਿਦੁ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੇ ਉਧਰੇ ॥
sayvak paij rakhai mayraa govid saran paray uDhray.
God preserves the honor of His devotees, and those who seek His refuge, are saved from vices.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ ਲਾਜ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਉਰ ਧਰਿਓ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰੇ ॥੪॥੧॥
jan naanak har kirpaa Dhaaree ur Dhari-o naam haray. ||4||1||
O’ Nanak, anyone on whom God has glanced His grace, has enshrined God’s Name in his heart. ||4||1||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮਿਹਰ (ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ) ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਲਿਆ ॥੪॥੧॥

ਸਿਧ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਜਪਿਓ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਪਿਆ ॥
siDh samaaDh japi-o liv laa-ee saaDhik mun japi-aa.
The Siddhas in their trance have meditated and focused on Him, and so have the seekers and the men of silence.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਸਿੱਧ ਸਮਾਧੀ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਜਪਦੇ ਰਹੇ, ਸਾਧਿਕ ਤੇ ਮੁਨੀ ਜਪਦੇ ਰਹੇ।
ਜਤੀ ਸਤੀ ਸੰਤੋਖੀ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਮੁਖਿ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਾਦਿਕ ਰਵਿਆ ॥
jatee satee santokhee Dhi-aa-i-aa mukh indraadik ravi-aa.
The celibates, men of charity and contentment have meditated on Him, and even gods like Indira have recited God’s Name.
ਜਤੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਿਆ, ਸਤੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਿਆ, ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ।
ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੇ ਜਪਿਓ ਤੇ ਭਾਏ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਇਆ ॥੧॥
saran paray japi-o tay bhaa-ay gurmukh paar pa-i-aa. ||1||
O’ my mind, by the Guru’s grace, those who meditated on Naam to seek God’s refuge, became pleasing to God, and crossed the worldly ocean of vices. ||1||
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਜਿਹੜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗੇ, ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਏ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਤਰਿਆ ॥
mayray man naam japat tari-aa.
O’ my mind, many people have crossed over the worldly ocean of vices by meditating on Naam.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ (ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਏ।
ਧੰਨਾ ਜਟੁ ਬਾਲਮੀਕੁ ਬਟਵਾਰਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Dhannaa jat baalmeek batvaaraa gurmukh paar pa-i-aa. ||1|| raha-o.
By meditating on Naam through the Guru’s grace, even Dhanna the farmer, and Baalmeek, the highway robber, crossed over the worldly ocean. ||1||Pause||
ਧੰਨਾ ਜੱਟ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਿਆ, ਬਾਲਮੀਕ ਡਾਕੂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਗਣ ਗੰਧਰਬੇ ਜਪਿਓ ਰਿਖਿ ਬਪੁਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਇਆ ॥
sur nar gan ganDharbay japi-o rikh bapurai har gaa-i-aa.
The gods, the humans, the devotees of lord Shiva, the singers of gods, and even the sages, all meditated on God and sang His praises.
ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਨੇ, ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ, (ਸ਼ਿਵ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਉਪਾਸਕ-) ਗਣਾਂ ਨੇ, ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਗੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ; ਵਿਚਾਰੇ ਧਰਮਰਾਜ ਨੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ।
ਸੰਕਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੈ ਦੇਵੀ ਜਪਿਓ ਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿਆ ॥
sankar barahmai dayvee japi-o mukh har har naam japi-aa.
Even gods like Shiva, Brahma, and goddess Lakshami have meditated on God’s Name.
ਸ਼ਿਵ ਨੇ, ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਨੇ, ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਜਿਨਾ ਮਨੁ ਭੀਨਾ ਤੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਇਆ ॥੨॥
har har naam jinaa man bheenaa tay gurmukh paar pa-i-aa. ||2||
All those whose minds are imbued with Naam by Guru’s grace, are ferried across this worldly ocean (of vices). ||2||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਵਿਚ ਭਿੱਜ ਗਿਆ ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਏ ॥੨॥
ਕੋਟਿ ਕੋਟਿ ਤੇਤੀਸ ਧਿਆਇਓ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਤਿਆ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
kot kot taytees Dhi-aa-i-o har japti-aa ant na paa-i-aa.
O’ my mind, millions of gods have meditated on God’s Name millions of times, but still they have not been able to find His limits.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਤੇਤੀ ਕ੍ਰੋੜ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਞਾਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ,ਪ੍ਰਂਤੂ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਸੇਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ l
ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਮੁਖਿ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਇਆ ॥
bayd puraan simrit har japi-aa mukh pandit har gaa-i-aa.
The authors of the Vedas, Puranas, and Simrities (the Hindu holy books) all have mediated on God, and the pundits have sung God’s praises, with their tongues,
ਵੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ ਆਦਿਕ ਧਰਮ-ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਲਿਖਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ, ਪੰਡਿਤਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਇਆ।
ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸਾਲੁ ਜਿਨਾ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਤੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਇਆ ॥੩॥
naam rasaal jinaa man vasi-aa tay gurmukh paar pa-i-aa. ||3||
and also those, who had enshrined the ambrosial nectar of Naam in their minds through the Guru’s grace, have crossed over the world ocean of vices. ||3||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਰੇ ਰਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੋਮਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਟਿਕ ਗਿਆ, ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਏ ॥੩॥
ਅਨਤ ਤਰੰਗੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਿਨ ਜਪਿਆ ਮੈ ਗਣਤ ਨ ਕਰਿ ਸਕਿਆ ॥
anat tarangee naam jin japi-aa mai ganat na kar saki-aa.
O’ my mind, I have not been able to count the number of those who have meditated on the Name of God, the creator of infinite creation.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਬੇਅੰਤ ਰਚਨਾ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਜਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਗੋਬਿਦੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਏ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
gobid kirpaa karay thaa-ay paa-ay jo har parabh man bhaa-i-aa.
God grants His grace and emancipates those who are pleasing to Him.
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਭਾ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ) ਪਰਵਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਓ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਇਆ ॥੪॥੨॥
gur Dhaar kirpaa har naam darirh-aa-i-o jan naanak naam la-i-aa. ||4||2||
O’ Nanak, they alone meditated on Naam, in whom the Guru firmly implanted the Name of God bestowing his mercy. ||4||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਹੀ) ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨॥
