ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਮਨਿ ਬਚਨ ਨ ਭਾਏ ਸਭ ਫੋਕਟ ਚਾਰ ਸੀਗਾਰੇ ॥੩॥
mayray satgur kay man bachan na bhaa-ay sabh fokat chaar seegaaray. ||3||
but if divine words of my true Guru are not pleasing to his mind, then all his outer embellishments and ornamentations are in vain. ||3||
ਪਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦੇ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ (ਸਰੀਰਕ) ਸੋਹਣੇ ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰ ਫੋਕੇ ਹੀ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਮਟਕਿ ਮਟਕਿ ਚਲੁ ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਲੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕੇ ਗੁਨ ਸਾਰੇ ॥
matak matak chal sakhee sahaylee mayray thaakur kay gun saaray.
O’ my friend, enshrine the virtues of my Master-God in your heart and joyfully walk in the spiritual journey of life.
ਹੇ ਸਖੀ! ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀ! ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖ, (ਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਈ ਮੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਰੇ ॥੪॥
gurmukh sayvaa mayray parabh bhaa-ee mai satgur alakh lakhaaray. ||4||
The devotional service done by following the Guru’s teachings is pleasing to my God: O’ true Guru, bless me with the understand about the incomprehensible God. ||4||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ! ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਭੀ) ਅਲੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ॥੪॥
ਨਾਰੀ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸਭ ਨਾਰੀ ਸਭੁ ਏਕੋ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮੁਰਾਰੇ ॥
naaree purakh purakh sabh naaree sabh ayko purakh muraaray.
Whether a person is female or male, the same one God is pervading in all.
ਹੇ ਸਖੀ! (ਉਂਞ ਤਾਂ ਚਾਹੇ) ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਹੈ (ਚਾਹੇ) ਮਰਦ ਹੈ, (ਚਾਹੇ) ਮਰਦ ਹੈ (ਚਾਹੇ) ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਹੈ, ਸਭਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਇਕੋ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ l
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਰੇਨੁ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਈ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥੫॥
sant janaa kee rayn man bhaa-ee mil har jan har nistaaray. ||5||
One to whose mind the humble service of saintly persons becomes pleasing, he realizes God and God ferries him across the world-ocean of vices. ||5||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ (ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ) ਦੀ ਧੂੜ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
ਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਨਗਰ ਸਭ ਫਿਰਿਆ ਰਿਦ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਭਾਰੇ ॥
garaam garaam nagar sabh firi-aa rid antar har jan bhaaray.
Searching for God, I have roamed from village to village and town to town; but God’s devotees have realized Him within their hearts.
ਮੈਂ ਪਿੰਡ ਪਿੰਡ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਸਭਨੀਂ ਥਾਈਂ ਫਿਰ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ, ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਲਭਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਸਰਧਾ ਸਰਧਾ ਉਪਾਇ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥੬॥
sarDhaa sarDhaa upaa-ay milaa-ay mo ka-o har gur gur nistaaray. ||6||
O’ God, by instilling faith, unite me with Your Name through the Guru and ferry me across the world-ocean of vices through the Guru. ||6||
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਭੀ) ਸਰਧਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੀ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈ ॥੬॥
ਪਵਨ ਸੂਤੁ ਸਭੁ ਨੀਕਾ ਕਰਿਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ॥
pavan soot sabh neekaa kari-aa satgur sabad veechaaray.
One who has embellished the thread of his breaths by contemplating the divine word through the true Guru’s teachings,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਵੀਚਾਰਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੁਆਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਲੜੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ.
ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਆ ਬਿਨੁ ਨੈਨਾ ਜਗਤੁ ਨਿਹਾਰੇ ॥੭॥
nij ghar jaa-ay amrit ras pee-aa bin nainaa jagat nihaaray. ||7||
he has partaken the ambrosial nectar of Naam by coming back within the self, and has seen the world’s reality (God) without his eyes. ||7||
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਅੰਤਰ ਆਤਮੇ ਪੁੱਜ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਹੀ ਜਗਤ ਦੀ ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
ਤਉ ਗੁਨ ਈਸ ਬਰਨਿ ਨਹੀ ਸਾਕਉ ਤੁਮ ਮੰਦਰ ਹਮ ਨਿਕ ਕੀਰੇ ॥
ta-o gun ees baran nahee saaka-o tum mandar ham nik keeray.
O’ God! I cannot describe Your virtues, You are like a divine temple in which we are living like small worms.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ। ਤੂੰ ਇਕ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਮੰਦਰ ਹੈਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਿੱਕੇ ਨਿੱਕੇ ਕੀੜੇ ਹਾਂ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਮੈ ਰਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਮਨੁ ਧੀਰੇ ॥੮॥੫॥
naanak kirpaa karahu gur maylhu mai raam japat man Dheeray. ||8||5||
O’ Nanak, say: O’ God bestow mercy and unite me with the Guru, so that my mind may attain solace by lovingly remembering You. ||8||5||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ,ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ,ਧੀਰਜ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਜਾਏ ॥੮॥੫॥

Raag Nat, Fourth Guru:
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਭਜੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੇ ॥
mayray man bhaj thaakur agam apaaray.
O’ my mind, lovingly remember the incomprehensible and infinite Master-God,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ,
ਹਮ ਪਾਪੀ ਬਹੁ ਨਿਰਗੁਣੀਆਰੇ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ham paapee baho nirgunee-aaray kar kirpaa gur nistaaray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ God, we are sinners and utterly devoid of virtues; bestow mercy and ferry us across the word-ocean of vices through the Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸੀਂ ਪਾਪੀ ਹਾਂ, ਗੁਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੱਖਣੇ ਹਾਂ, ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਾਧੂ ਪੁਰਖ ਸਾਧ ਜਨ ਪਾਏ ਇਕ ਬਿਨਉ ਕਰਉ ਗੁਰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
saaDhoo purakh saaDh jan paa-ay ik bin-o kara-o gur pi-aaray.
O’ dear Guru, one who joins the company of saintly persons, also becomes a devotee; I also offer a prayer before you,
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਭੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ;
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨੁ ਪੂਜੀ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਤਿਸਨਾ ਭੂਖ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
raam naam Dhan poojee dayvhu sabh tisnaa bhookh nivaaray. ||1||
Please, bless me with the wealth, the capital of Naam, which may eradicate all my love and yearning for the materialism. ||1||
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਦੇਹ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਸਭ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇ ॥੧॥
ਪਚੈ ਪਤੰਗੁ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਭ੍ਰਿੰਗ ਕੁੰਚਰ ਮੀਨ ਇਕ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ ਪਕਰਿ ਸਘਾਰੇ ॥
pachai patang marig bharing kunchar meen ik indree pakar saghaaray.
The moth burns itself, the deer, the bumble bee, the elephant and the fish, they each have one different vice because of which they are caught and killed.
ਪਤੰਗਾ ਲਾਟ ਉੱਤੇ ਸੜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ; ਹਰਨ, ਭੌਰਾ, ਹਾਥੀ, ਮੱਛੀ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਇਕ ਇਕ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਾਰ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪੰਚ ਭੂਤ ਸਬਲ ਹੈ ਦੇਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਪ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥੨॥
panch bhoot sabal hai dayhee gur satgur paap nivaaray. ||2||
But in a human being all the five strong demons (lust, anger, greed, attachment, and ego) are present, only the true Guru can eradicate these vices. ||2||
ਪਰ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਪੰਜੇ ਹੀ ਦੈਂਤ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਹਨ,। ਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਬੇਦ ਸੋਧਿ ਸੋਧਿ ਦੇਖੇ ਮੁਨਿ ਨਾਰਦ ਬਚਨ ਪੁਕਾਰੇ ॥
saastar bayd soDh soDh daykhay mun naarad bachan pukaaray.
I have repeatedly studied Shastras, Vedas (the Hindu scriptures), the great sages like Narad have proclaimed as well,
ਵੇਦ ਸ਼ਾਸਤਰ ਕਈ ਵਾਰੀ ਸੋਧ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਏ ਹਨ, ਨਾਰਦ ਆਦਿਕ ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਮੁਨੀ ਭੀ ਇਹੀ ਬਚਨ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਕਹਿ ਗਏ ਹਨ,
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਪੜਹੁ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥੩॥
raam naam parhahu gat paavhu satsangat gur nistaaray. ||3||
that lovingly remember God’s Name and attain the higher spiritual status; in the holy congregation the Guru has ferried many people across the world-ocean of vices. ||3|
ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰੋ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰੋ; ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ (ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੀਵ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਏ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇਰੀ ਜਿਵ ਸੂਰਜੁ ਕਮਲੁ ਨਿਹਾਰੇ ॥
pareetam pareet lagee parabh kayree jiv sooraj kamal nihaaray.
One who has developed love for the beloved God, he longs for His blessed vision, just as a lotus flower looks forward to the sun.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੈ (ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਲਈ ਇਉਂ ਤਾਂਘਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੌਲ ਫੁੱਲ ਸੂਰਜ ਨੂੰ ਤੱਕਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਮੇਰ ਸੁਮੇਰ ਮੋਰੁ ਬਹੁ ਨਾਚੈ ਜਬ ਉਨਵੈ ਘਨ ਘਨਹਾਰੇ ॥੪॥
mayr sumayr mor baho naachai jab unvai ghan ghanhaaray. ||4||
and just as a peacock dances in great delight when he sees the clouds descend in the high mountains ready to rain. ||4||
ਅਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਬੱਦਲ (ਵਰ੍ਹਨ ਲਈ) ਬਹੁਤ ਝੁਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਉੱਚੇ ਪਹਾੜਾਂ (ਵਲੋਂ ਘਟਾਂ ਆਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ) ਮੋਰ ਬਹੁਤ ਨੱਚਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਸਾਕਤ ਕਉ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਹੁ ਸਿੰਚਹੁ ਸਭ ਡਾਲ ਫੂਲ ਬਿਸੁਕਾਰੇ ॥
saakat ka-o amrit baho sinchahu sabh daal fool bisukaaray.
The faithless cynic is like a poisonous tree, whose branches and flowers remain poisonous even when totally soaked with the ambrosial nectar of Naam.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਟੁੱਟਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ ( ਇਕ ਵਿਹੁਲੇ ਰੁੱਖ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੈ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕਿਤਨਾ ਹੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਿੰਜੀ ਜਾਓ, ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਟਾਹਣੀਆਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਫੁੱਲ ਸਭ ਵਿਹੁਲੇ ਹੀ ਰਹਿਣਗੇ।
ਜਿਉ ਜਿਉ ਨਿਵਹਿ ਸਾਕਤ ਨਰ ਸੇਤੀ ਛੇੜਿ ਛੇੜਿ ਕਢੈ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਰੇ ॥੫॥
ji-o ji-o niveh saakat nar saytee chhayrh chhayrh kadhai bikh khaaray. ||5||
The more the people treat a faithless cynic with humility, the more he provokes, pricks and spits out poisonous words. ||5||
ਸਾਕਤ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਉਂ ਜਿਉਂ ਲੋਕ ਨਿਮ੍ਰਤਾ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਿਉਂ ਤਿਉਂ ਉਹ ਛੇੜ-ਖਾਨੀਆਂ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਕੌੜਾ ਜ਼ਹਰ ਹੀ ਕੱਢਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
ਸੰਤਨ ਸੰਤ ਸਾਧ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੀਐ ਗੁਣ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੇ ॥
santan sant saaDh mil rahee-ai gun boleh par-upkaaray.
We should remain associated with and abide in the company of the holy saints, because they always utter the words for the welfare of others.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਭਲਾਈ ਵਾਲੇ ਭਲੇ ਬਚਨ ਹੀ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸੰਤੈ ਸੰਤੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਨੁ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਜਿਉ ਜਲ ਮਿਲਿ ਕਮਲ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥੬॥
santai sant milai man bigsai ji-o jal mil kamal savaaray. ||6||
Just as a lotus blossoms in water, similarly when a saint meets another saint, his mind feels delighted. ||6||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਕੌਲ ਫੁੱਲ ਖਿੜਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਸੰਤ ਕਿਸੇ ਸੰਤ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਖਿੜ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
ਲੋਭ ਲਹਰਿ ਸਭੁ ਸੁਆਨੁ ਹਲਕੁ ਹੈ ਹਲਕਿਓ ਸਭਹਿ ਬਿਗਾਰੇ ॥
lobh lahar sabh su-aan halak hai halki-o sabheh bigaaray.
The wave of greed is like a rabid (mad) dog, it bites and hurts all others and makes them rabid, similarly a greedy person makes others greedy.
ਲੋਭ ਦੀ ਲਹਿਰ ਨਿਰੋਲ ਹਲਕਾਇਆ ਕੁੱਤਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ (ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਹਲਕਾਇਆ ਕੁੱਤਾ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਵੱਢ ਵੱਢ ਕੇ) ਵਿਗਾੜਦਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤਿਵੇਂ ਲੋਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਲੋਭੀ ਬਣਾਈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕੈ ਦੀਬਾਨਿ ਖਬਰਿ ਹੋੁਈ ਗੁਰਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਖੜਗੁ ਲੈ ਮਾਰੇ ॥੭॥
mayray thaakur kai deebaan khabar ho-ee gur gi-aan kharhag lai maaray. ||7||
When the news of the prayer to save from greed reaches my Master-God’s court, then God, through the Guru, gives a sword like divine knowledge which kills the mad dog of greed. ||7||
(ਇਸ ਲੋਭ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ) ਜਦੋਂ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਪਹੁੰਚਦੀ ਹੈ,ਤਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਦੀ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਲੋਭ ਦਾ ਹਲਕਾਇਆ ਕੁੱਤਾ ਮਾਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
ਰਾਖੁ ਰਾਖੁ ਰਾਖੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੈ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
raakh raakh raakh parabh mayray mai raakho kirpaa Dhaaray.
O’ my God, bestow mercy and save me from these evils.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਇਸ ਲੋਭ-ਕੁੱਤੇ ਤੋਂ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਬਚਾ ਲੈ, ਬਚਾ ਲੈ, ਬਚਾ ਲੈ, ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਬਚਾ ਲੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਮੈ ਧਰ ਅਵਰ ਨ ਕਾਈ ਮੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥੮॥੬॥ ਛਕਾ ੧ ॥
