Raag Raamkalee, Fifth Guru:
ਜਿਸ ਕੀ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
jis kee tis kee kar maan.
Acknowledge God to whom everything (including this body) belongs,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ (ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਆਦਿਕ) ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਮੰਨ।
ਆਪਨ ਲਾਹਿ ਗੁਮਾਨੁ ॥
aapan laahi gumaan.
and renounce your egotistical pride.
ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ।
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਤੂ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
jis kaa too tis kaa sabh ko-ay.
Everyone is created by the same God who created you.
ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਉਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਤੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈਂ।
ਤਿਸਹਿ ਅਰਾਧਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
tiseh araaDh sadaa sukh ho-ay. ||1||
Celestial peace is attained forever by lovingly remembering that God. ||1||
ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਸੁਖ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਕਾਹੇ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਹਿ ਬਿਗਾਨੇ ॥
kaahay bharam bharmeh bigaanay.
O’ mortal, separated from God, why are you wandering in doubts?.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੁੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਜੀਵ! ਕਿਉਂ (ਅਪਣੱਤ ਦੇ) ਭੁਲੇਖੇ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਭਟਕ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ?
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਕਰਿ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਪਛੁਤਾਨੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
naam binaa kichh kaam na aavai mayraa mayraa kar bahut pachhutaanay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Except for God’s Name, nothing serves any purpose; saying ‘mine mine’, a great many have departed, regretfully repenting. ||1||Pause||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਸ਼ੈ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ) ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ। (ਇਹ) ਮੇਰਾ (ਸਰੀਰ ਹੈ, ਇਹ) ਮੇਰਾ (ਧਨ ਹੈ)-ਇਉਂ ਆਖ ਆਖ ਕੇ (ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ) ਬਹੁਤ ਪਛੁਤਾਂਦੇ ਗਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਕਰੈ ਸੋਈ ਮਾਨਿ ਲੇਹੁ ॥
jo jo karai so-ee maan layho.
Whatever God does, accept that as good.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਠੀਕ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਕਰ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਮਾਨੇ ਰਲਿ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਖੇਹ ॥
bin maanay ral hoveh khayh.
Without accepting God’s will, you shall mingle with dust after wasting this human life.
(ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ) ਮੰਨਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਮਿੱਟੀ ਵਿਚ) ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਏਂਗਾ।ਮਨੁਖ ਸਰੀਰ ਬਿਅਰਥ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੈਗਾ॥
ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਮੀਠਾ ॥
tis kaa bhaanaa laagai meethaa.
One whom God’s will seems sweet,
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਮਨਿ ਵੂਠਾ ॥੨॥
gur parsaad virlay man voothaa. ||2||
by the Guru’s grace, God manifests in that rare person’s mind. ||2||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਆਪਿ ॥
vayparvaahu agochar aap.
God Himself is carefree and beyond the comprehension of our senses.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਮੁਥਾਜੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਜਿਸ ਤਕ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ l
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਮਨ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਜਾਪਿ ॥
aath pahar man taa ka-o jaap.
O’ mind, always remember Him with loving devotion.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਿਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ।
ਜਿਸੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਏ ਬਿਨਸਹਿ ਦੁਖਾ ॥
jis chit aa-ay binsahi dukhaa.
By remembering whom all the sorrows vanish,
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਚਤਿ ਆਉਣ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ
ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਊਜਲ ਮੁਖਾ ॥੩॥
halat palat tayraa oojal mukhaa. ||3||
and you would be honored both here and hereafter. ||3||
ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਉਜਲਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ॥੩॥
ਕਉਨ ਕਉਨ ਉਧਰੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ॥
ka-un ka-un uDhray gun gaa-ay.
How many have crossed the worldly ocean of vices by singing praises of God,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਗਾ ਕੇ ਕੌਣ ਕੌਣ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਏ,
ਗਨਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਕੀਮ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
ganan na jaa-ee keem na paa-ay.
their number cannot be counted; the worth of singing God’s praises cannot be estimated.
ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਣ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਬੂਡਤ ਲੋਹ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਤਰੈ ॥
boodat loh saaDhsang tarai.
Even a stone hearted person can swim across the worldly ocean of vices in the company of the Guru.
ਲੋਹੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਕਠੋਰ-ਚਿੱਤ ਬੰਦਾ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸਹਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਕਰੈ ॥੪॥੩੧॥੪੨॥
naanak jisahi paraapat karai. ||4||31||42||
O’ Nanak, only he receives the Guru’s company who is preordained.||4||31||42||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ) ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਧੁਰੋਂ ਇਹ ਦਾਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੪॥੩੧॥੪੨॥

ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਜਾਪਿ ਭਗਵੰਤੁ ॥
man maahi jaap bhagvant.
O’ brother, always lovingly remember God in your mind.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! -ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ-
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਇਹੁ ਦੀਨੋ ਮੰਤੁ ॥
gur poorai ih deeno mant.
To whom the perfect Guru blessed with this teaching,
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਇਹ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
ਮਿਟੇ ਸਗਲ ਭੈ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ॥
mitay sagal bhai taraas.
all fears and terrors of that person are wiped out,
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ ਸਹਿਮ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਈ ਆਸ ॥੧॥
pooran ho-ee aas. ||1||
and all his hopes and desires are fulfilled. ||1||
ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਆਸ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸਫਲ ਸੇਵਾ ਗੁਰਦੇਵਾ ॥
safal sayvaa gurdayvaa.
Devotional worship of the Divine Guru is fruitful and rewarding.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ-ਸੇਵਾ (ਜ਼ਰੂਰ) ਫਲ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ।
ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਸਾਚੇ ਸਚੁ ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਵਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
keemat kichh kahan na jaa-ee saachay sach alakh abhayvaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Even an iota of the worth of that eternal, incomprehensible and mysterious God cannot be described. ||1||Pause||
ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਅਲੱਖ ਤੇ ਅਭੇਵ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਮੁੱਲ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਆਪਿ ॥ ਤਿਸ ਕਉ ਸਦਾ ਮਨ ਜਾਪਿ ॥
karan karaavan aap. tis ka-o sadaa man jaap.
O’ my mind, always lovingly remember that God who Himself is the doer and the cause of causes.
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ! ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨ-ਜੋਗਾ ਤੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਕਰਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ,ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ।
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਿ ਨੀਤ ॥ ਸਚੁ ਸਹਜੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮੀਤ ॥੨॥
tis kee sayvaa kar neet. sach sahj sukh paavahi meet. ||2||
O’ my friend, always perform the devotional worship of God, and you would receive the eternal celestial peace and poise. ||2||
ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਦਾ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ, ਤੂੰ ਅਟੱਲ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਣੇਂਗਾ, ਤੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਏਂਗਾ ॥੨॥
ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਅਤਿ ਭਾਰਾ ॥
saahib mayraa at bhaaraa.
O’ my friends, extremely great is my Master-God,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਬਹੁਤ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਹੈ,
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪਨਹਾਰਾ ॥
khin meh thaap uthaapanhaaraa.
He can create or destroy anything in an instant.
ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਨਾਸ ਭੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਸੋਈ ॥੩॥
tis bin avar na ko-ee. jan kaa raakhaa so-ee. ||3||
God Himself is the savior of His devotees; except Him, there is none else. ||3||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਰਾਖਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਸੁਣੀਜੈ ॥
kar kirpaa ardaas suneejai.
O’ God, bestow mercy and listen to my prayer,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਅਰਜ਼ੋਈ ਸੁਣ,
ਅਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ ॥
apnay sayvak ka-o darsan deejai.
and bless Your devotee with Your divine vision.
ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦੇਹ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾਪੀ ਜਪੁ ਜਾਪੁ ॥
naanak jaapee jap jaap.
Nanak may always keep meditating on that God’s Name,
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਜਪਦਾ ਰਹੇ,
ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ॥੪॥੩੨॥੪੩॥
sabh tay ooch jaa kaa partaap. ||4||32||43||
whose glory and splendour is the highest of all. ||4||32||43||
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਤੇਜ-ਬਲ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੩੨॥੪੩॥

ਬਿਰਥਾ ਭਰਵਾਸਾ ਲੋਕ ॥ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ॥
birthaa bharvaasaa lok. thaakur parabh tayree tayk.
O’ my Master-God! I depend only on Your support, it is useless to have any kind of hope in other people.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ) ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ, ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਰੱਖਣੀ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੈ।
ਅਵਰ ਛੂਟੀ ਸਭ ਆਸ ॥ ਅਚਿੰਤ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਗੁਣਤਾਸ ॥੧॥
avar chhootee sabh aas. achint thaakur bhaytay guntaas. ||1||
One who realizes the carefree Master-God, the treasure of virtues, all his hopes in others end. ||1||
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਰਹਿਤ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਤੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਮਦਦ ਦੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਆਸ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ॥
ayko naam Dhi-aa-ay man mayray.
O’ my mind, lovingly remember only the Name of one God alone,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ,
ਕਾਰਜੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਪੂਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kaaraj tayraa hovai pooraa har har har gun gaa-ay man mayray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
your task of human life (union with God) would be perfectly resolved; yes, O’ my mind! Keep singing the praises of God. ||1||Pause||
ਤੇਰਾ ਮਨੂੰਖਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਜ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਸਿਰੇ ਚੜ੍ਹੇਗਾ ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ਕਰ। ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ॥
tum hee kaaran karan.
O’ God, You are the cause and doer of everything, the creator of this universe.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਇਸ ਜਗਤ-ਰਚਨਾ ਦਾ ਬਣਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ।
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਨ ॥
charan kamal har saran.
O’ God, Your immaculate Name is my only refuge.
(ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਸਦਾ) ਤੇਰੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ (ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਾਮ) ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਓਹੀ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
man tan har ohee Dhi-aa-i-aa.
Whosoever has remembered that God with full concentration of mind and heart,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਆਨੰਦ ਹਰਿ ਰੂਪ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
aanand har roop dikhaa-i-aa. ||2||
God, the embodiment of bliss, has revealed Himself to that person. ||2||
ਆਨੰਦ-ਰੂਪ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਵਿਖਾਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।॥੨॥
ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਕੀ ਓਟ ਸਦੀਵ ॥
tis hee kee ot sadeev.
(O’ my mind), forever depend only on the support of that God,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਉਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਈ ਰੱਖ,
ਜਾ ਕੇ ਕੀਨੇ ਹੈ ਜੀਵ ॥
jaa kay keenay hai jeev.
who has created all the beings.
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥
simrat har karat niDhaan.
All the treasures are received by lovingly remembering God,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ (ਸਾਰੇ) ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ (ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰ ਨਿਦਾਨ ॥੩॥
raakhanhaar nidaan. ||3||
and in the end it is God, who is our savior. ||3||
ਅਤੇ ਅੰਤ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਸਰਬ ਕੀ ਰੇਣ ਹੋਵੀਜੈ ॥
sarab kee rayn hoveejai.
O’ my mind, we should make ourselves so humble as if we are the dust of all,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਬਣੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਆਪੁ ਮਿਟਾਇ ਮਿਲੀਜੈ ॥
aap mitaa-ay mileejai.
because, we can unite with God only by erasing our ego from within.
(ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
an-din Dhi-aa-ee-ai naam.
We should always lovingly meditate on God’s Name,
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਫਲ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹੁ ਕਾਮੁ ॥੪॥੩੩॥੪੪॥
safal naanak ih kaam. ||4||33||44||
O’ Nanak, this is the only most rewarding deed. ||4||33||44||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਕੇਵਲ ਇਹ ਹੀ ਕੰਮ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਫਲ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੩੩॥੪੪॥

ਕਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਕਰੀਮ ॥

The beneficent God is cause and doer of everything.
ਦਾਤਾਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਬੱਬਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਬੱਬ ਹੈ।
ਸਰਬ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ਰਹੀਮ ॥
sarab partipaal raheem.
The merciful Master cherishes all.
ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਮਾਲਕ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਲਦਾ ਪੋਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਲਹ ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
alah alakh apaar.
God is incomprehensible and infinite.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੰਤ ਹੈ।
ਖੁਦਿ ਖੁਦਾਇ ਵਡ ਬੇਸੁਮਾਰ ॥੧॥
khud khudaa-ay vad baysumaar. ||1||
God by Himself is the great and infinite Master of all.
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਖਸਮ ਹੈਂ, ਬੜਾ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈਂ ॥੧॥
