ਜਗਤ ਉਧਾਰਨ ਸਾਧ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਲਾਗਹੁ ਪਾਲ ॥
jagat uDhaaran saaDh parabh tinH laagahu paal.
O’ God, Your saints are the saviors of the world from vices, therefore I seek their refuge.
ਹੇ ਸਾਈਂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਣ ਦੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਦਾਂ ਹਾਂ।
ਮੋ ਕਉ ਦੀਜੈ ਦਾਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੰਤਨ ਪਗ ਰਾਲ ॥੨॥
mo ka-o deejai daan parabh santan pag raal. ||2||
O’ God, bless me with the gift of the humble service of Your saints. ||2||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਭੀ) ਆਪਣੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਦਾ ਦਾਨ ਦੇਹ ॥੨॥
ਉਕਤਿ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਕਛੁ ਨਹੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਛੁ ਘਾਲ ॥
ukat si-aanap kachh nahee naahee kachh ghaal.
I have no wisdom, skill, or any devotional service to my credit,
ਮੇਰੇ ਪੱਲੇ ਦਲੀਲ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਕੋਈ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਨਹੀਂ, ਮੈਂ ਕੋਈ ਸੇਵਾ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਨਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ,
ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭੈ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਮੋਹ ਤੇ ਕਾਟਹੁ ਜਮ ਜਾਲ ॥੩॥
bharam bhai raakho moh tay kaatahu jam jaal. ||3||
O’ God! protect me from the doubts, fears and emotional attachments, and cut off the noose of my death. ||3||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭਟਕਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ, ਡਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ, ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਜਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਾਲ ਕੱਟ ਦੇ ॥੩॥
ਬਿਨਉ ਕਰਉ ਕਰੁਣਾਪਤੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥
bin-o kara-o karunaapatay pitaa partipaal.
O’ merciful God, my father and savior, I humbly pray,
ਹੇ ਤਰਸ ਦੇ ਸੋਮੇ! ਹੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ (ਤੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ) ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਉ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਲ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੪੧॥
gun gaava-o tayray saaDhsang naanak sukh saal. ||4||11||41||
that I may sing Your praises in the company of saints; O’ Nanak, the holy congregation is the abode of peace and comforts. ||4||11||41||
ਕਿ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੪੧॥

Raag Bilaaval, Fifth Guru:
ਕੀਤਾ ਲੋੜਹਿ ਸੋ ਕਰਹਿ ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਛੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
keetaa lorheh so karahi tujh bin kachh naahi.
O’ God! You do whatever you want to; people cannot do anything without motivation from You.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਹੀ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਜੀਵ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰਾ ਦੇਖਿ ਕੈ ਜਮਦੂਤ ਛਡਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
partaap tumHaaraa daykh kai jamdoot chhad jaahi. ||1||
Seeing Your power, even the demons of death leave Your devotee alone and go away. ||1||
ਤੇਰਾ ਤੇਜ-ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਜਮਦੂਤ (ਭੀ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ) ਛੱਡ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਛੂਟੀਐ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਅਹੰਮੇਵ ॥
tumHree kirpaa tay chhootee-ai binsai ahaNmayv.
O’ God! it is by Your grace that people get liberated from vices and their ego is dispelled.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ
ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਸਮਰਥ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sarab kalaa samrath parabh pooray gurdayv. ||1|| rahaa-o.
God is omnipotent, possessing all powers; He is realized through the perfect, divine Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਸਰਬ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਮਾਨ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਮਾਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਿਆ ਨਾਮੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਕੂਰੁ ॥
khojat khojat khoji-aa naamai bin koor.
O’ God!, after searching again and again, I have realized that everything, except Your Name, is false and perishable.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ (ਆਖ਼ਰ ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ) ਲੱਭ ਲਈ ਹੈ ਕਿ (ਤੇਰੇ) ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਹੋਰ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ) ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਹੈ।
ਜੀਵਨ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਭੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਨਸਾ ਪੂਰੁ ॥੨॥
jeevan sukh sabh saaDhsang parabh mansaa poor. ||2||
The celestial peace and all the comforts of life are found in holy congregation; O’ God! fulfill this desire of mine and bless me with the company of saints. ||2||
ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖੀਂ, ਮੇਰੀ ਇਹ ਤਾਂਘ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰ ॥੨॥
ਜਿਤੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਲਾਵਹੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਲਗਹਿ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਸਭ ਜਾਲੀ ॥
jit jit laavhu tit tit lageh si-aanap sabh jaalee.
O’ God, in whatever task You engage people, they get engaged in that; therefore I have burnt away all my own intelligence.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਸ ਜਿਸ ਕੰਮ ਵਿਚ ਤੂੰ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਸੇ ਉਸੇ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਵ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ, ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਮੁਕਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ l
ਜਤ ਕਤ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲੀ ॥੩॥
jat kat tumH bharpoor hahu mayray deen da-i-aalee. ||3||
O’ my merciful God of the meek, You are pervading everywhere. ||3||
ਹੇ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ (ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈਂ ॥੩॥
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤੁਮ ਤੇ ਮਾਗਨਾ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਏ ॥
sabh kichh tum tay maagnaa vadbhaagee paa-ay.
O’ God! we have to ask for everything only from You, but a very fortunate person understands this.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹੀ ਮੰਗ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ। ਕਿਸੇ ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਇਹੈ ਸਮਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀਵਾ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਏ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੪੨॥
naanak kee ardaas parabh jeevaa gun gaa-ay. ||4||12||42||
O’ God, this is the prayer of Nanak that I may spiritually remain alive by singing Your praises. ||4||12||42||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਹੈ,ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਵਾਂ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੪੨॥

Raag Bilaaval, Fifth Guru:
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੈ ਬਾਸਬੈ ਕਲਮਲ ਸਭਿ ਨਸਨਾ ॥
saaDhsangat kai baasbai kalmal sabh nasnaa.
All the sins of a person are erased by dwelling in the congregation of the saints.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੇਤੀ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਿਆ ਤਾ ਤੇ ਗਰਭਿ ਨ ਗ੍ਰਸਨਾ ॥੧॥
parabh saytee rang raati-aa taa tay garabh na garsanaa. ||1||
Being imbued with God’s love, one is not cast into the cycle of birth and death. ||1||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਫਸੀਦਾ ॥੧॥
ਨਾਮੁ ਕਹਤ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਕਾ ਸੂਚੀ ਭਈ ਰਸਨਾ ॥
naam kahat govind kaa soochee bha-ee rasnaa.
One’s tongue becomes immaculate by reciting God’s Name.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆਂ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ) ਜੀਭ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਜਪੁ ਜਪਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
man tan nirmal ho-ee hai gur kaa jap japnaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The mind and body become immaculate by remembering God’s Name through the Guru’s teachings. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ (ਦੱਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ) ਜਾਪ ਜਪਿਆਂ ਮਨ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਰੀਰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਤ ਧ੍ਰਾਪਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਰਸੁ ਲੈ ਹਸਨਾ ॥
har ras chaakhat Dharaapi-aa man ras lai hasnaa.
By tasting the elixir of God’s Name, one gets satiated towards Maya; one remains delighted by enshrining Naam in the mind.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਚੱਖਿਆਂ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਲਾਲਚ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਖਿੜੇ ਰਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਬੁਧਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਭਈ ਉਲਟਿ ਕਮਲੁ ਬਿਗਸਨਾ ॥੨॥
buDh pargaas pargat bha-ee ulat kamal bigsanaa. ||2||
The intellect gets enlightened with divine wisdom and, by turning away from the love for worldly riches and power, one always remains delighted. ||2||
ਬੁੱਧੀ ਵਿਚ ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਬੁੱਧੀ ਉੱਜਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹਿਰਦਾ-ਕੌਲ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਲੋਂ ਪਰਤ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਖਿੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸੀਤਲ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਹੋਇ ਸਭ ਬੂਝੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ॥
seetal saaNt santokh ho-ay sabh boojhee tarisnaa.
(By meditating on God’s Name), one’s desires for worldly riches and power are quenched, and the mind becomes calm, peaceful and content.
(ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ) ਮਨ ਠੰਢਾ-ਠਾਰ, ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਤੇ ਸੰਤੁਸ਼ਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਧਾਵਤ ਮਿਟਿ ਗਏ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਥਾਨਿ ਬਸਨਾ ॥੩॥
dah dis Dhaavat mit ga-ay nirmal thaan basnaa. ||3||
One’s wandering all over the world for the love of Maya ends, and one dwells in the immaculate place in God’s presence. ||3||
(ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਦਸੀਂ ਪਾਸੀਂ (ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਦੌੜ-ਭੱਜ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੈ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਭਏ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭਸਨਾ ॥
raakhanhaarai raakhi-aa bha-ay bharam bhasnaa.
Whomsoever the savior God has saved from the vices, all his doubts were turned to ashes.
ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਰਾਖੀ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਹੀ ਭਟਕਣਾਂ ਸੜ ਕੇ ਸੁਆਹ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ।
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖੀ ਪੇਖਿ ਸਾਧ ਦਰਸਨਾ ॥੪॥੧੩॥੪੩॥
naam niDhaan naanak sukhee paykh saaDh darsanaa. ||4||13||43||
O’ Nanak, by meeting and following the Guru’s teachings, such a person received the treasure of Naam and became peaceful. ||4||13||43||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਸੁਖੀ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੪॥੧੩॥੪੩॥

ਪਾਣੀ ਪਖਾ ਪੀਸੁ ਦਾਸ ਕੈ ਤਬ ਹੋਹਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ॥
paanee pakhaa pees daas kai tab hohi nihaal.
O’ brother, you shall feel delighted by humbly serving the devotee of God,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਣੀ (ਢੋਇਆ ਕਰ), ਪੱਖਾ (ਝੱਲਿਆ ਕਰ), (ਆਟਾ) ਪੀਹਾ ਕਰ, ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਤੂੰ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣੇਂਗਾ,
ਰਾਜ ਮਿਲਖ ਸਿਕਦਾਰੀਆ ਅਗਨੀ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਲੁ ॥੧॥
raaj milakh sikdaaree-aa agnee meh jaal. ||1||
O’ brother! burn into the fire (renounce) the greed of power, wordly possessions and authority. ||1||
ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀਆਂ ਹਕੂਮਤਾਂ, ਜ਼ਿਮੀਂ ਦੀ ਮਾਲਕੀ, ਸਰਦਾਰੀਆਂ-ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ ਸਾੜ ਦੇ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਲਾਲਚ ਛੱਡ ਦੇ) ॥੧॥
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕਾ ਛੋਹਰਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗਿ ॥
sant janaa kaa chhohraa tis charnee laag.
O’ brother, bow and serve with humility the devotees of the saintly persons,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਨੌਕਰ (ਹੋਵੇ,) ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗਿਆ ਕਰ,
ਮਾਇਆਧਾਰੀ ਛਤ੍ਰਪਤਿ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਛੋਡਉ ਤਿਆਗਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
maa-i-aaDhaaree chhatarpat tinH chhoda-o ti-aag. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and renounce the company of the faithless wealthy and the royal kings. ||1||Pause||
ਅਮੀਰ ਆਦਮੀ ਅਤੇ ਚੋਰ-ਤਖਤ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫਾਰਖਤੀ ਤੇ ਤਲਾਂਜਲੀ ਦੇ ਦੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸੰਤਨ ਕਾ ਦਾਨਾ ਰੂਖਾ ਸੋ ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥
santan kaa daanaa rookhaa so sarab niDhaan.
Consider receiving the dry bread from the home of saintly persons like having all treasures of the world.
ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਦੀ ਰੁੱਖੀ ਰੋਟੀ ਜੇ ਮਿਲੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਸਮਝ।
ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਸਾਕਤ ਛਤੀਹ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਤੇ ਬਿਖੂ ਸਮਾਨ ॥੨॥
garihi saakat chhateeh parkaar tay bikhoo samaan. ||2||
But the varieties of dishes from the house of a faithless cynic are like poison. ||2||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਟੁੱਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ (ਜੇ) ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੋਜਨ (ਮਿਲਣ, ਤਾਂ) ਉਹ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਰਗੇ (ਜਾਣ) ॥੨॥
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕਾ ਲੂਗਰਾ ਓਢਿ ਨਗਨ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
bhagat janaa kaa loograa odh nagan na ho-ee.
One does not feel naked and lose honor by wearing a torn out blanket received from the devotees of God.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਜੇ ਪਾਟਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਭੂਰਾ ਭੀ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਨ ਕੇ ਨੰਗਾ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ।
ਸਾਕਤ ਸਿਰਪਾਉ ਰੇਸਮੀ ਪਹਿਰਤ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਈ ॥੩॥
saakat sirpaa-o raysmee pahirat pat kho-ee. ||3||
But one loses honor by wearing even the silken clothes received from a faithless cynic. ||3||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਟੁੱਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਜੇ ਰੇਸ਼ਮੀ ਸਿਰੋਪਾ ਭੀ ਮਿਲੇ, ਉਹ ਪਹਿਨਿਆਂ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਗਵਾ ਲਈਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਸਾਕਤ ਸਿਉ ਮੁਖਿ ਜੋਰਿਐ ਅਧ ਵੀਚਹੁ ਟੂਟੈ ॥
saakat si-o mukh jori-ai aDh veechahu tootai.
Friendship with a faithless cynic breaks down mid-way.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਟੁੱਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਲ-ਜੋਲ ਅੱਧ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਹੀ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਜੋ ਕਰੇ ਇਤ ਊਤਹਿ ਛੂਟੈ ॥੪॥
har jan kee sayvaa jo karay it ooteh chhootai. ||4||
But one who serves the devotees of God is emancipated both here and hereafter. ||4||
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਬੰਦ-ਖਲਾਸ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਹੋਆ ਆਪਿ ਬਣਤ ਬਣਾਈ ॥
sabh kichh tumH hee tay ho-aa aap banat banaa-ee.
O’ God, everything has come from You; You Yourself have brought forth the entire creation.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹਰੇਕ ਵਸਤੂ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਉਤਪੰਨ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਰਚੀ ਹੈ।
ਦਰਸਨੁ ਭੇਟਤ ਸਾਧ ਕਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈ ॥੫॥੧੪॥੪੪॥
darsan bhaytat saaDh kaa naanak gun gaa-ee. ||5||14||44||
O’ Nanak, pray: O’ God, bless me so that I may keep singing Your praises by beholding and following the Guru’s teachings. ||5||14||44||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ ॥੫॥੧੪॥੪੪॥
