ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਉ ਤੁਮਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਓ ਤਉ ਸੁਨੀ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
saaDhsang ja-o tumeh milaa-i-o ta-o sunee tumaaree banee.
O’ God, when You united me with the company of the saint-Guru, then I listened to the divine word of Your praises,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਦੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਂਇਆ,ਤਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸ੍ਰਵਣ ਕੀਤੀ,
ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਪੇਖਤ ਹੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਪੁਰਖ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੀ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੮॥
anad bha-i-aa paykhat hee naanak partaap purakh nirbaanee. ||4||7||18||
O’ Nanak, upon beholding the glory of desire-free, all-pervading God, a state of bliss welled up within me. ||4||7||18||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਵਾਸ਼ਨਾ-ਰਹਿਤ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪਰਤਾਪ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ, ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੮॥

Raag Sorath, Fifth Guru:
ਹਮ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਰੇਨੁ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹਮ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾ ॥
ham santan kee rayn pi-aaray ham santan kee sarnaa.
O’ dear God, bestow mercy so that I may remain in the refuge of saint-Guru as an extremely humble servant as if I am the dust of his feet.
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨ-ਧੂੜ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਾਂ, ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਾਂ।
ਸੰਤ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਓਟ ਸਤਾਣੀ ਸੰਤ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਗਹਣਾ ॥੧॥
sant hamaaree ot sataanee sant hamaaraa gahnaa. ||1||
The Saint-Guru is my firm support; the saint-Guru has embellished my life so much as if he is my ornamental decoration. ||1||
ਸੰਤ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਤਕੜਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹਨ, ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਬਣਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਹਮ ਸੰਤਨ ਸਿਉ ਬਣਿ ਆਈ ॥
ham santan si-o ban aa-ee.
I have developed a love for the saint-Guru,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਬਣ ਗਈ ਹੈ,
ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਪਾਈ ॥
poorab likhi-aa paa-ee.
this has happened as a result of preordained destiny.
ਪਿਛਲੇ ਲਿਖੇ ਲੇਖ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ih man tayraa bhaa-ee. rahaa-o.
O’ brother, I say to the Guru, this mind is yours. ||Pause||
ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰਾ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਤੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਸੰਤਨ ਸਿਉ ਮੇਰੀ ਲੇਵਾ ਦੇਵੀ ਸੰਤਨ ਸਿਉ ਬਿਉਹਾਰਾ ॥
santan si-o mayree layvaa dayvee santan si-o bi-uhaaraa.
My dealings and daily routines are only with the saint-Guru.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਲੈਣ-ਦੇਣ ਤੇ ਵਰਤਣ-ਵਿਹਾਰ ਹੈ।
ਸੰਤਨ ਸਿਉ ਹਮ ਲਾਹਾ ਖਾਟਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
santan si-o ham laahaa khaati-aa har bhagat bharay bhandaaraa. ||2||
Through the saint-Guru, I have earned the profit that my mind is filled with the treasures of devotional worship of God. ||2||
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਲਾਭ ਖੱਟਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਭਰ ਗਏ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਸੰਤਨ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਸਉਪੀ ਤਉ ਉਤਰਿਆ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਧੋਖਾ ॥
santan mo ka-o poonjee sa-upee ta-o utri-aa man kaa Dhokhaa.
When the saint-Guru blessed me with the wealth of Naam, since that time my mind’s delusion was dispelled.
ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਸਿ-ਪੂੰਜੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਦਾ ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਲਹਿ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਅਬ ਕਹਾ ਕਰੈਗੋ ਜਉ ਫਾਟਿਓ ਸਗਲੋ ਲੇਖਾ ॥੩॥
Dharam raa-ay ab kahaa karaigo ja-o faati-o saglo laykhaa. ||3||
All the accounts of my previous deeds have been torn up, what can the Judge of righteousness do now? ||3||
(ਮੇਰੇ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂਤਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ) ਸਾਰਾ ਹੀ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਦਾ ਕਾਗਜ਼ ਪਾਟ ਚੁਕਾ ਹੈ। ਹੁਣ ਧਰਮਰਾਜ ਮੈਥੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਪੁੱਛ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰੇਗਾ ॥੩॥
ਮਹਾ ਅਨੰਦ ਭਏ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਪਰਸਾਦੇ ॥
mahaa anand bha-ay sukh paa-i-aa santan kai parsaaday.
By the grace of the saint-Guru, I have received celestial peace and the supreme bliss has welled up within me.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਬੜਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤੇ ਬਿਸਮਾਦੇ ॥੪॥੮॥੧੯॥
kaho naanak har si-o man maani-aa rang ratay bismaaday. ||4||8||19||
Nanak says, my mind now feels connected with God, and I am imbued with the love of wondrous God. ||4||8||19||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਪਤੀਜ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਅਸਚਰਜ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਮੈਂ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ ॥੪॥੮॥੧੯॥

Raag Sorath, Fifth Guru:
ਜੇਤੀ ਸਮਗ੍ਰੀ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਰੇ ਨਰ ਤੇਤੀ ਹੀ ਛਡਿ ਜਾਨੀ ॥
jaytee samagree daykhhu ray nar taytee hee chhad jaanee.
O’ mortal, whatever things you see, all of that you would leave here and depart from this world.
ਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ! ਇਹ ਜਿਤਨਾ ਹੀ ਸਾਜ-ਸਾਮਾਨ ਤੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ, ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਹੀ (ਅੰਤ) ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਚਲੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ।
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਿਉਹਾਰਾ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਪਦੁ ਨਿਰਬਾਨੀ ॥੧॥
raam naam sang kar bi-uhaaraa paavahi pad nirbaanee. ||1||
Therefore, deal in the wealth of God’s Name, so that you may attain to the state of liberation from vices. ||1||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਬਣਾ, ਤੂੰ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਦਰਜਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਏਂਗਾ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਕੋਈ ਵਾਸਨਾ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ ॥੧॥
ਪਿਆਰੇ ਤੂ ਮੇਰੋ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ॥
pi-aaray too mayro sukh-daata.
O’ beloved God, You are my benefactor of spiritual peace,
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਹੈਂ,
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਦੀਆ ਉਪਦੇਸਾ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਪਰਾਤਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur poorai dee-aa updaysaa tum hee sang paraataa. rahaa-o.
the perfect Guru has blessed me this teaching and I am attuned to You. ||Pause||
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰੋਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਅਭਿਮਾਨਾ ਤਾ ਮਹਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
kaam kroDh lobh moh abhimaanaa taa meh sukh nahee paa-ee-ai.
Celestial peace is not come if one remain indulged in lust, anger, greed, emotional attachment and ego.
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ-ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਸੁਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ।
ਹੋਹੁ ਰੇਨ ਤੂ ਸਗਲ ਕੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਤਉ ਅਨਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੨॥
hohu rayn too sagal kee mayray man ta-o anad mangal sukh paa-ee-ai. ||2||
O’ my mind, be humble as if you are the dust of the feet of all, and then you shall find bliss, joy and peace. ||2||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹੁ। ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਘਾਲ ਨ ਭਾਨੈ ਅੰਤਰ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਨੈ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕਰਿ ਮਨ ਸੇਵਾ ॥
ghaal na bhaanai antar biDh jaanai taa kee kar man sayvaa.
O’ my mind, remember that God, who never lets anybody’s efforts go in vain; He knows the inner condition of our heart.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਨਤ ਨੂੰ ਅਜਾਈਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣ ਦੇਂਦਾ, ਤੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਰਿ ਪੂਜਾ ਹੋਮਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਗੁਰਦੇਵਾ ॥੩॥
kar poojaa hom ih manoo-aa akaal moorat gurdayvaa. ||3||
The Guru is the embodiment of eternal God, perform his devotional worship by surrendering your mind, as if you have sacrificed it in the sacred fire. ||3||
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼-ਰੂਪ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਮੌਤ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪੂਜਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰ, ਤੇ, ਭੇਟਾ ਵਜੋਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਕਰ ਦੇਹ ॥੩॥
ਗੋਬਿਦ ਦਾਮੋਦਰ ਦਇਆਲ ਮਾਧਵੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰਾ ॥
gobid daamodar da-i-aal maaDhvay paarbarahm nirankaaraa.
God, the Master of the universe, is supreme, formless and very compassionate,
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾਮੋਦਰ ਦਇਆ-ਦੇ-ਘਰ, ਮਾਇਆ-ਦੇ-ਪਤੀ, ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਦੇ-
ਨਾਮੁ ਵਰਤਣਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਵਾਲੇਵਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੯॥੨੦॥
naam vartan naamo vaalayvaa naam naanak paraan aDhaaraa. ||4||9||20||
consider His Name like a thing of your everyday use and spiritual nourishment; O’ Nanak, Naam is the support of my life. ||4||9||20||
ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਕੰਮ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਬਣਾ, ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਦਾ ਸਾਮਾਨ ਬਣਾ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੯॥੨੦॥

ਮਿਰਤਕ ਕਉ ਪਾਇਓ ਤਨਿ ਸਾਸਾ ਬਿਛੁਰਤ ਆਨਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥
mirtak ka-o paa-i-o tan saasaa bichhurat aan milaa-i-aa.
The Guru infuses life into the spiritually dead, and reunites the separated ones with God.
ਗੁਰੂ ਆਤਮਕ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਮਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਮ-ਜਿੰਦ ਪਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੁੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਸੂ ਪਰੇਤ ਮੁਗਧ ਭਏ ਸ੍ਰੋਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਗਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
pasoo parayt mugaDh bha-ay sarotay har naamaa mukh gaa-i-aa. ||1||
Even people with animal like instinct, evil spirits and spiritually ignorants become his ardent audience, and start singing the praises of God. ||1||
ਪਸ਼ੂ -ਸੁਭਾਉ ਬੰਦੇ ,ਪ੍ਰੇਤ-ਸੁਭਾਉ ਬੰਦੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਬੰਦੇ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ ਗਾਣ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਦੇਖੁ ਵਡਾਈ ॥
pooray gur kee daykh vadaa-ee.
O’ brother, look at the glory of the perfect Guru,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਵੇਖ।
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
taa kee keemat kahan na jaa-ee. rahaa-o.
his worth cannot be described. ||Pause||
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਦੂਖ ਸੋਗ ਕਾ ਢਾਹਿਓ ਡੇਰਾ ਅਨਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਬਿਸਰਾਮਾ ॥
dookh sog kaa Dhaahi-o dayraa anad mangal bisraamaa.
The person who comes to the Guru’s refuge, the Guru eliminates the root cause of that person’s sorrow, and blesses him with bliss and joy.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ-ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਗ਼ਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਡੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਢਾਹ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਨੰਦ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਨ ਬਾਂਛਤ ਫਲ ਮਿਲੇ ਅਚਿੰਤਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਏ ਕਾਮਾ ॥੨॥
man baaNchhat fal milay achintaa pooran ho-ay kaamaa. ||2||
That person intuitively receives the fruits of his mind’s desire, and all his tasks are accomplished. ||2||
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਅਚਨਚੇਤ ਮਨ-ਇੱਛਤ ਫਲ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਿਰੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਈਹਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਆਗੈ ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲ ਮਿਟਿ ਗਏ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੇ ॥
eehaa sukh aagai mukh oojal mit ga-ay aavan jaanay.
They receive celestial peace in this world, honor in the world hereafter, their cycle of birth and death ends,
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,ਏਦੂ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਉਹ ਸੁਰਖ਼-ਰੂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਭਏ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣੇ ॥੩॥
nirbha-o bha-ay hirdai naam vasi-aa apunay satgur kai man bhaanay. ||3||
they become fearless because Naam is enshrined in their hearts and are pleasing to their true Guru. ||3||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ,ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਨਾਮ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ॥੩॥
ਊਠਤ ਬੈਠਤ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਾਗਾ ॥

The person who at all times sings praises of God, his sorrow, pain, and doubt are dispelled
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਠਦਾ ਬੈਠਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੁੱਖ ਪੀੜ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਪੂਰ ਕਰੰਮਾ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਨੀ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੨੧॥
kaho naanak taa kay poor karammaa jaa kaa gur charnee man laagaa. ||4||10||21||
Nanak says, one whose mind remains attuned to the Guru’s word, all his tasks are accomplished perfectly. ||4||10||21||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੨੧॥

Raag Sorath, Fifth Guru:
ਰਤਨੁ ਛਾਡਿ ਕਉਡੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਲਾਗੇ ਜਾ ਤੇ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
ratan chhaad ka-udee sang laagay jaa tay kachhoo na paa-ee-ai.
Forsaking the precious jewel like Naam, we are engrossed in the pursuit of worldly riches from which we get nothing of real merit.
ਮਾਇਆ-ਵੇੜ੍ਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਕਉਡੀ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਲ ਦੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਨਾਲ ਚੰਬੜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
