ਗਲਿ ਜੇਵੜੀ ਆਪੇ ਪਾਇਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਜਿਉ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਖਿੰਚੈ ਤਿਉ ਜਾਹਾ ॥
gal jayvrhee aapay paa-idaa pi-aaraa ji-o parabh khinchai ti-o jaahaa.
God Himself has put a chain around the necks of creatures and as He pulls them, they must go in that direction..
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ) ਗਲ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਸੀ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਉਸ ਰੱਸੀ ਨੂੰ) ਖਿੱਚਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਿਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ (ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਤੇ) ਤੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜੋ ਗਰਬੈ ਸੋ ਪਚਸੀ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਮਾਹਾ ॥੪॥੬॥
jo garbai so pachsee pi-aaray jap naanak bhagat samaahaa. ||4||6||
O’ God, whoever indulges in self-conceit, is spiritually destroyed: O’ Nanak, whoever remembers God, merges in Him through devotional worship. ||4||6||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਮਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੬॥

ਅਨਿਕ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਛੁੜੇ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੈ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥
anik janam vichhurhay dukh paa-i-aa manmukh karam karai ahaNkaaree.
Separated from God for innumerable births, a self-willed person continues to suffer and remains engaged in deeds of egotism.
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵਿਛੁੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹਿੰਦਾ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਹੀ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਧੂ ਪਰਸਤ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
saaDhoo parsat hee parabh paa-i-aa gobid saran tumaaree. ||1||
O’ God, upon following the Guru’s teachings, he comes to Your refuge and immediately realizes You. ||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਛੁੰਹਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ, ਹੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ! ਉਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਲੱਭ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ॥੧॥
ਗੋਬਿਦ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗੀ ਅਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥
gobid pareet lagee at pi-aaree.
The Love of God seems very endearing to him.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਜਬ ਸਤਸੰਗ ਭਏ ਸਾਧੂ ਜਨ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jab satsang bha-ay saaDhoo jan hirdai mili-aa saaNt muraaree. rahaa-o.
When he meets with the saintly people in the holy congregation, then he realizes God in his heart, the embodiment of peace. ||Pause||
ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਭਲੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਤੂ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਵਸਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਾਉ ਨ ਬੁਝਹਿ ਗਵਾਰੀ ॥
too hirdai gupat vaseh din raatee tayraa bhaa-o na bujheh gavaaree.
O’ God, day and night You invisibly dwell in the hearts of all beings; but the foolish people do not understand how to love You.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਲੁਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦੇ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਆ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਗੁਣ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
satgur purakh mili-aa parabh pargati-aa gun gaavai gun veechaaree. ||2||
God manifests within the one whom true Guru meets; that person then sings God’s praises by reflecting on His virtues. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ਭਇਆ ਸਾਤਿ ਆਈ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ॥
gurmukh pargaas bha-i-aa saat aa-ee durmat buDh nivaaree.
One who follows the Guru’s teachings, becomes spiritually enlightened; calmness prevails within such a person and he gets rid of his evil intellect.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਆ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਠੰਢ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਭੈੜੀ ਮਤਿ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਕਲ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਆਤਮ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਚੀਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
aatam barahm cheen sukh paa-i-aa satsangat purakh tumaaree. ||3||
O’ all pervading God, by joining the company of Your saints and by realizing the presence of God within, he enjoys the celestial peace. ||3||
ਹੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੀ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਪਛਾਣ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਪੁਰਖੈ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਭਈ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥
purkhai purakh mili-aa gur paa-i-aa jin ka-o kirpaa bha-ee tumaaree.
One who meets the Guru and follow his teachings, realizes the all pervading God; but O’ God, the Guru meets only those who are under Your grace.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਗੁਰੂ ਭੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਅਤੁਲੁ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਾਗਤੁ ਰਹੈ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ॥੪॥੭॥
naanak atul sahj sukh paa-i-aa an-din jaagat rahai banvaaree. ||4||7||
O’ Nanak, such a person enjoys the immeasurable celestial peace; being always attuned to God, he remains awake and alert to any evil influences. ||4||7||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਅਜੇਹਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦਾ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੭॥

Raag Sorath, Fourth Guru:
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਅੰਤਰੁ ਮਨੁ ਬੇਧਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਰਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
har si-o pareet antar man bayDhi-aa har bin rahan na jaa-ee.
That person, whose heart and mind are transfixed by the love for God, cannot spiritually survive without remembering Him.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਝ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਰਹਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਜਿਉ ਮਛੁਲੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਨੀਰੈ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਤਿਉ ਨਾਮੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
ji-o machhulee bin neerai binsai ti-o naamai bin mar jaa-ee. ||1||
Just as the fish dies without water, similarly that person spiritually dies without meditating on Naam. ||1||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੱਛੀ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਆ ਗਈ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਲੁ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਈ ॥
mayray parabh kirpaa jal dayvhu har naa-ee.
O’ my God, please bless me with the water of Your mercy and the gift of singing Your praises.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ) ਮੇਹਰ ਦਾ ਜਲ ਦੇਹ। ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇਹ।
ਹਉ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਗਾ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਨਾਮੇ ਹੀ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ha-o antar naam mangaa din raatee naamay hee saaNt paa-ee. rahaa-o.
In my heart, day and night I beg for Naam, because spiritual peace can only be received through Naam. ||Pause||
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਨਾਮ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿਉਂਕ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਠੰਡ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ ॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਜਿਉ ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕੁ ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਬਿਲਲਾਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਜਲ ਪਿਆਸ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
ji-o chaatrik jal bin billaavai bin jal pi-aas na jaa-ee.
Just as the song-bird cries without the rain water, its thirst cannot be quenched without a drop of rain water.
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਵਰਖਾ-ਜਲ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਪਪੀਹਾ ਵਿਲਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਵਰਖਾ ਦੀ ਬੂੰਦ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰੇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਟਦੀ,
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਲੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜੇ ਹਰਿਆ ਭਾਇ ਸੁਭਾਈ ॥੨॥
gurmukh jal paavai sukh sehjay hari-aa bhaa-ay subhaa-ee. ||2||
similarly, a Guru’s follower enjoys spiritual peace and intuitively blossoms with divine love upon receiving the water of Naam. ||2||
ਤਿਵੇਂ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਈਸ਼ਵਰੀ ਅਨੰਦ ਦਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਬੰਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਖੈਨ ਹੀ ਸਰਸਬਜ਼ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ॥੨॥
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭੂਖੇ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਡੋਲਹਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ॥
manmukh bhookhay dah dis doleh bin naavai dukh paa-ee.
The self-willed people, hungry for worldly wealth, wander everywhere and without meditating on Naam, they endure sorrow.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਦਸੀਂ ਪਾਸੀਂ ਡੋਲਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਦੁੱਖ ਪਾਂਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਨਮਿ ਮਰੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਆਵੈ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਈ ॥੩॥
janam marai fir jonee aavai dargahi milai sajaa-ee. ||3||
They are born and die and then again fall into the cycle of birth and death and receive punishment in God’s presence. ||3||
ਉਹ ਜੰਮ ਕੇ ਤੇ ਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ , ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
kirpaa karahi taa har gun gaavah har ras antar paa-ee.
O’ God, if You bestow mercy, then we can sing Your praises, and can enshrine the nectar of God’s Name in our heart.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰੇਂ, ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ। ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥੪॥੮॥
naanak deen da-i-aal bha-ay hai tarisnaa sabad bujhaa-ee. ||4||8||
O’ Nanak , one on whom the merciful God is pleased, all his yearning for worldly riches and power are quenched through the Guru’s word. ||4||8||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਤ੍ਰੁੱਠਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਤ੍ਰੇਹ ਬੁਝਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੮॥

ਅਚਰੁ ਚਰੈ ਤਾ ਸਿਧਿ ਹੋਈ ਸਿਧੀ ਤੇ ਬੁਧਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
achar charai taa siDh ho-ee siDhee tay buDh paa-ee.
When one conquers the unconquerable mind, then one attains spiritual perfection and through this perfection he receives divine wisdom.
ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਜਿੱਤ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਤ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ ਕਾਮਯਾਬੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਕਾਮਯਾਬੀ ਤੋਂ ਅਕਲ ਹਾਸਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੇ ਸਰ ਲਾਗੇ ਤਨ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਤਾ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਕਾਟਿਆ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
paraym kay sar laagay tan bheetar taa bharam kaati-aa jaa-ee. ||1||
When one is totally imbued in God’s love, as if the arrows of God’s love have pierced his body, then his mind’s doubt is eradicated. ||1||
ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੇ ਤੀਰ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਿੱਝ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਦੋਂ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਕੱਟੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਦੇਹਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
mayray gobid apunay jan ka-o deh vadi-aa-ee.
O’ my God of the universe, bestow this honor on me, Your devotee,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ! (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਨੂੰ (ਇਹ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼,
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਹੁ ਸਦਾ ਰਹਹੁ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gurmat raam naam pargaasahu sadaa rahhu sarnaa-ee. rahaa-o.
and enlighten me with Your Name through the Guru’s teachings; that I may dwell forever in Your refuge. ||Pause||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਕਰ , ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸ਼ਰਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਸਾਂ ॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਇਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਸਭੁ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣਾ ਮਨ ਮੂਰਖ ਚੇਤਿ ਅਜਾਣਾ ॥
ih sansaar sabh aavan jaanaa man moorakh chayt ajaanaa.
O’ my ignorant and foolish mind, the worldly attachment is the cause of the cycle of birth and death; always remember God to escape from it.
ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਅੰਞਾਣ ਮਨ! ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੈ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ।
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥੨॥
har jee-o kirpaa karahu gur maylhu taa har naam samaanaa. ||2||
O’ reverend God, bestow mercy and unite me with the Guru, only then I can get absorbed in Your Name. ||2||
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾ, ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨਤਾ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਜਿਸ ਕੀ ਵਥੁ ਸੋਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਦੇਇ ਸੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
jis kee vath so-ee parabh jaanai jis no day-ay so paa-ay.
Only God, to whom this wealth of Naam belongs, knows its worth; to whom God gives this gift of Naam, he alone receives it.
ਉਹ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਵਸਤੂ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਹੈ। ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਵਸਤੁ ਅਨੂਪ ਅਤਿ ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਏ ॥੩॥
vasat anoop at agam agochar gur pooraa alakh lakhaa-ay. ||3||
So beautiful, unapproachable and incomprehensible is this wealth of Naam; only the perfect Guru can help to understand this unexplainable wealth. ||3||
ਪਰਮ ਸੁੰਦਰ, ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਸੋਚ ਸਮਝ ਤੋਂ ਉਚੇਰੀ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਵਸਤੂ। ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਸ ਗਿਆਤ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਵਸਤੂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਜਿਨਿ ਇਹ ਚਾਖੀ ਸੋਈ ਜਾਣੈ ਗੂੰਗੇ ਕੀ ਮਿਠਿਆਈ ॥
jin ih chaakhee so-ee jaanai goongay kee mithi-aa-ee.
Only the one who has tasted the nectar of Naam, knows it taste but cannot describe it; just like a mute who tastes the candy, but cannot speak of it.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ-ਵਸਤੁ ਚੱਖੀ ਹੈ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਉਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਗੁੰਗਾ ਖਾਧੀ ਮਿਠਿਆਈ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਦੱਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
