ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
janam janam kaa rog gavaa-i-aa.
is cured of the diseases arising from the vices of many births.
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕਈ ਜਨਮਾਂ (ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ) ਦਾ ਰੋਗ (ਉਸ ਦਵਾਈ ਨਾਲ) ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ।
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਫਲ ਏਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
har keertan gaavhu din raatee safal ayhaa hai kaaree jee-o. ||3||
So sing God’s Praises, day and night, This will make the life journey successful.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਰਾਤ ਦਿਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹੋ, ਇਹੀ ਕਾਰ ਲਾਭ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ l
ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਧਾਰਿ ਅਪਨਾ ਦਾਸੁ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ॥
darisat Dhaar apnaa daas savaari-aa.
With his Glance and Blessings, the devotee’s life has been adorned with spiritual values.
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਜੇਹੜਾ) ਆਪਣਾ ਸੇਵਕ (ਆਪਣੀ) ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸੁਚੱਜੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
ਘਟ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਿਆ ॥
ghat ghat antar paarbarahm namaskaari-aa.
His servant discerns God in every being and venerates Him.
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ (ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਅੱਗੇ) ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਇਆ (ਭਾਵ, ਹਰੇਕ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਾਲਾ ਵਰਤਾਵ ਕੀਤਾ)।
ਇਕਸੁ ਵਿਣੁ ਹੋਰੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਬਾਬਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹ ਮਤਿ ਸਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੩੯॥੪੬॥
ikas vin hor doojaa naahee baabaa naanak ih mat saaree jee-o. ||4||39||46||
O brother, except the One (God), there is no other like Him, and such a wisdom is the most sublime, says Nanak.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ (ਉਸ ਵਰਗਾ) ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ-ਇਹੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਸੂਝ ਹੈ l
ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Raag Maajh, by the Fifth Guru:
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਰਤਾ ਰਾਮ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
man tan rataa raam pi-aaray.
O’ my friend, if you want your mind and body to be imbued with the love of the beloved God,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਇਹ ਲੋੜਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਕਿ ਤੇਰਾ) ਮਨ (ਤੇਰਾ) ਸਰੀਰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ) ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਹੇ,
ਸਰਬਸੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਅਪਨਾ ਵਾਰੇ ॥
sarbas deejai apnaa vaaray.
then sacrifice everything of yours for that love.
(ਤਾਂ) ਆਪਣਾ ਸਭ ਕੁਛ ਸਦਕੇ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੇ ਵੱਟੇ) ਦੇ ਦੇਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈਐ ਬਿਸਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਸਾਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
aath pahar govind gun gaa-ee-ai bisar na ko-ee saasaa jee-o. ||1||
At all times, we should sing God’s praises and pray to God, please don’t go out of my mind, even for a breath.
ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਣੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ। (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਕੋਈ ਇੱਕ ਸਾਹ ਲੈਂਦਿਆਂ ਭੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਹ ਭੁਲਾ l
ਸੋਈ ਸਾਜਨ ਮੀਤੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥
so-ee saajan meet pi-aaraa.
He alone is a companion, a friend, and a beloved,
ਉਹੋ ਹੀ ਸੱਜਣ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ,
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
raam naam saaDhsang beechaaraa.
who reflects upon the Naam, in the holy congregation.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿਕ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਤਰੀਜੈ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਕਟੀਐ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਫਾਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
saaDhoo sang tareejai saagar katee-ai jam kee faasaa jee-o. ||2||
It is in the holy congregation that we swim across the world-ocean of vices, and snap the noose of the demon of death.
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਰਿਹਾਂ) ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਜਮਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਕੱਟੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ l
ਚਾਰਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ॥
chaar padaarath har kee sayvaa.
The four cardinal blessings (Faith, Wealth, procreation and salvation) are obtained through the devotional worship of God.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਹੀ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਸਿਧ ਚਾਰ ਪਦਾਰਥ {ਧਰਮ, ਅਰਥ, ਕਾਮ, ਮੋਖ} ਹਨ।
ਪਾਰਜਾਤੁ ਜਪਿ ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਵਾ ॥
paarjaat jap alakh abhayvaa.
Meditation on the Unseen and Unknowable God is like obtaining the all wish fulfilling mythical Elysian tree.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਅਲੱਖ ਅਭੇਵ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ, ਇਹੀ ਪਾਰਜਾਤ (-ਰੁੱਖ ਮਨੋਕਾਮਨਾ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ) ਹੈ।
ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਗੁਰਿ ਕਾਟੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਈ ਆਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
kaam kroDh kilbikh gur kaatay pooran ho-ee aasaa jee-o. ||3||
The Guru dispels all the maladies of lust, anger, and sin, and every wish of such a person is fulfilled
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਕਾਮ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਕੱਟ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੀ) ਆਸਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ l
ਪੂਰਨ ਭਾਗ ਭਏ ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ॥
pooran bhaag bha-ay jis paraanee.
That mortal who is blessed by perfect destiny,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਭਾਗ ਜਾਗ ਪੈਣ,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਸਾਰੰਗਪਾਣੀ ॥
saaDhsang milay saarangpaanee.
realizes God in the company of saintly persons.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਜਿਸੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਗਿਰਸਤ ਉਦਾਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੪੦॥੪੭॥
naanak naam vasi-aa jis antar parvaan girsat udaasaa jee-o. ||4||40||47||
O’ Nanak, the person in whose heart dwells God’s Name, whether he is living here as a householder or as a recluse, is approved in God’s court.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਘਰ-ਬਾਰੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਕਬੂਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Raag Maajh, by the Fifth Guru:
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
simrat naam ridai sukh paa-i-aa.
Meditating on the Naam, my soul is filled with peace.
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਭਗਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਇਆ ॥
kar kirpaa bhagteeN paragtaa-i-aa.
With the Grace of Divine company His devotees are imbued in Naam.
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਪਰਗਟ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਆਲਸ ਰੋਗਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
satsang mil har har japi-aa binsay aalas rogaa jee-o. ||1||
Joining the Society of the Holy, and contemplating on Naam with love, the disease of laziness has disappeared.
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ, ਉੇਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਲਸ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ l
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਈ ॥
jaa kai garihi nav niDh har bhaa-ee.
O’ Friends, Naam is valuable like nine treasures, found by meditating on God;
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਨੌ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹਨ,
ਤਿਸੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਜਿਸੁ ਪੁਰਬ ਕਮਾਈ ॥
tis mili-aa jis purab kamaa-ee.
God comes to meet those who deserve it by their past actions.
ਉਹ ਹਰੀ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਕੀਤੀ ਨੇਕ ਕਮਾਈ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਜਾਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਗਿਆਨ ਧਿਆਨ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਭਨਾ ਗਲਾ ਜੋਗਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
gi-aan Dhi-aan pooran parmaysur parabh sabhnaa galaa jogaa jee-o. ||2||
Such a person is blessed with divine wisdom and meditation on the perfect God, (and truly believes that) God is capable of doing everything.
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੁੜੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਯਕੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪਨਹਾਰਾ ॥
khin meh thaap uthaapanhaaraa.
O’ my friends, God is capable of creating and destroying (the entire universe) in an instant.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ) ਰਚ ਕੇ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ (ਇਸ ਨੂੰ) ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਭੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਪਿ ਇਕੰਤੀ ਆਪਿ ਪਸਾਰਾ ॥
aap ikantee aap pasaaraa.
He Himself becomes the only detached one, and He Himself becomes the expanse of the entire universe
ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਨਿਰਗੁਣ-ਸਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਇਕੱਲਾ (ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ) ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪੇ ਤੋਂ ਸਰਗੁਣ ਰੂਪ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ) ਜਗਤ-ਰਚਨਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਲੇਪੁ ਨਹੀ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਦਾਤੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਡਿਠੇ ਲਹਨਿ ਵਿਜੋਗਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
layp nahee jagjeevan daatay darsan dithay lahan vijogaa jee-o. ||3||
There is no filth of selfishness in God. On seeing His vision, all one’s pains of separation are removed.
ਉਸ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੂੰ, ਜਗਤ-ਦੇ-ਜੀਵਨ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ। ਉਸ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੋੜਾ ਪਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ)
ਅੰਚਲਿ ਲਾਇ ਸਭ ਸਿਸਟਿ ਤਰਾਈ ॥
anchal laa-ay sabh sisat taraa-ee.
By making the mortals hold to His gown (by uniting them with the Guru) God enables the entire universe to swim across the worldly ocean of vices.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਪੱਲੇ ਲਾ ਕੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ) ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੂੰ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਉ ਆਪਿ ਜਪਾਈ ॥
aapnaa naa-o aap japaa-ee.
With the Grace of Guru, He himself causes his devotees to meditate on Naam.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਜਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਧੁਰਿ ਸੰਜੋਗਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੪੧॥੪੮॥
gur bohith paa-i-aa kirpaa tay naanak Dhur sanjogaa jee-o. ||4||41||48||
O’ Nanak, it is only by God’s grace and pre-ordained good fortune that one meets the Guru, the source of liberation.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਧੁਰ-ਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੇ ਸਬਬ ਬਣਨ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ-ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ
ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Raag Maajh, by the Fifth Guru:
ਸੋਈ ਕਰਣਾ ਜਿ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ॥
so-ee karnaa je aap karaa-ay.
One can do only those things which God Himself commands one to do.
(ਜੀਵ) ਉਹੀ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਕਰਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਥੈ ਰਖੈ ਸਾ ਭਲੀ ਜਾਏ ॥
jithai rakhai saa bhalee jaa-ay.
Wherever He keeps the mortal is a good place.
(ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ) ਜਿਸ ਥਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਥਾਂ (ਜੀਵ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਚੰਗੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸੋਈ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਸੋ ਪਤਿਵੰਤਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਲਗੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
so-ee si-aanaa so pativantaa hukam lagai jis meethaa jee-o. ||1||
That person is wise and intelligent, to whom the divine Command seems sweet. |
ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਕਲ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲਗਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਸਭ ਪਰੋਈ ਇਕਤੁ ਧਾਗੈ ॥
sabh paro-ee ikat Dhaagai.
God has (subjected the entire universe to one universal law, as if He has) strung the entire creation on one thread.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ (ਹੁਕਮ-ਰੂਪ) ਧਾਗੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੋ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਸੁ ਲਾਇ ਲਏ ਸੋ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
jis laa-ay la-ay so charnee laagai.
Those whom he blesses get humbly attached to his message.
ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਆਪਣੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ) ਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਊਂਧ ਕਵਲੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਸਰਬ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਡੀਠਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
ooNDh kaval jis ho-ay pargaasaa tin sarab niranjan deethaa jee-o. ||2||
The person with enlightened heart, sees God among all, and they are like lotus flower in bloom and glow radiantly.
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ (ਹੀ) ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਉਲਟਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਿਰਦਾ-ਕੌਲ-ਫੁੱਲ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਆਪ) ਖਿੜਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ l
ਤੇਰੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਤੂੰਹੈ ਜਾਣਹਿ ॥
tayree mahimaa tooNhai jaaneh.
Only You Yourself know Your Glory.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਤਨਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਅਪਣਾ ਆਪੁ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਿ ਪਛਾਣਹਿ ॥
apnaa aap tooN aap pachhaaneh.
You Yourself recognize Your Own Self.
ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਮਝ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਸੰਤਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਪੀਠਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
ha-o balihaaree santan tayray jin kaam kroDh lobh peethaa jee-o. ||3||
I dedicate myself to Your Saints, who have crushed their lust, anger and greed.
ਤੇਰੇ ਜਿਸ ਜਿਸ ਸੰਤ ਨੇ (ਤੇਰੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਕਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨੂੰ ਲੋਭ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ l
ਤੂੰ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਸੰਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ॥
tooN nirvair sant tayray nirmal.
You have no hatred or vengeance; Your Saints are immaculate and pure.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਵੈਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਭੀ (ਵੈਰ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੀ) ਮੈਲ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਹਨ।
ਜਿਨ ਦੇਖੇ ਸਭ ਉਤਰਹਿ ਕਲਮਲ ॥
jin daykhay sabh utreh kalmal.
They who (follow Guru’s advice), all their sins are washed off.
ਤੇਰੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ (ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੀ) ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਧਿਆਇ ਜੀਵੈ ਬਿਨਸਿਆ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਧੀਠਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੪੨॥੪੯॥
naanak naam Dhi-aa-ay Dhi-aa-ay jeevai binsi-aa bharam bha-o Dheethaa jee-o. ||4||42||49||
O’ Nanak, one who meditates on God’s Name, rejuvenates spiritually and all his stubborn doubt and fear are removed.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ) ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਅਮੋਲ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਤੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ
