ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਣਹਿ ॥
thaakur kay sayvak har rang maaneh.
The devotees of God enjoy the Love and Affection of God.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ)! ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕਾ ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਾ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਹੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਜਾਹਰੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
jo kichh thaakur kaa so sayvak kaa sayvak thaakur hee sang jaahar jee-o. ||3||
Whatever belongs to God, in a way belongs to the devotee as well. Because of his association with the Master, the devotee also becomes known in the world.
ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਆਪਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦਾ ਆਪਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸੇਵਕ ਆਪਣੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਉਘਾ ਤੇ ਉਜਾਗਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਪੁਨੈ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਜੋ ਪਹਿਰਾਇਆ ॥
apunai thaakur jo pehraa-i-aa.
The person who has been honorably recognized by His master,
ਜਿਸ (ਸੇਵਕ) ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ (ਸੇਵਾ ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ) ਸਿਰੋਪਾ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਲੇਖਾ ਪੁਛਿ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ॥
bahur na laykhaa puchh bulaa-i-aa.
is not called to answer for his account of past actions.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ (ਲੇਖਾ ਪੁੱਛਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਨਹੀਂ ਸੱਦਿਆ l
ਤਿਸੁ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਸੋ ਗਹਿਰ ਗਭੀਰਾ ਗਉਹਰੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੧੮॥੨੫॥
tis sayvak kai naanak kurbaanee so gahir gabheeraa ga-uhar jee-o. ||4||18||25||
O’ Nanak, I dedicate myself to such a devotee, because he is deep and profound, and honorable.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਸੇਵਕ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਉਹ ਡੂੰਘੇ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਵਾਲਾ ਵੱਡੇ ਜਿਗਰੇ ਵਾਲਾ ਤੇ ਉੱਚੇ ਅਮੋਲਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ

Raag Maajh, by the Fifth Guru:
ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
sabh kichh ghar meh baahar naahee.
All peace and harmony is present in one’s own heart, and nothing is outside.
ਸਾਰਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਸੁਖ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ, ਬਾਹਰ ਭਟਕਣ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ।
ਬਾਹਰਿ ਟੋਲੈ ਸੋ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਹੀ ॥
baahar tolai so bharam bhulaahee.
The one who searches for tranquillity outside is deluded by doubt.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬਾਹਰ ਸੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜਿਨੀ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੋ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
gur parsaadee jinee antar paa-i-aa so antar baahar suhaylaa jee-o. ||1||
By Guru’s Grace, one who has realized God within is at peace with himself and others.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਅੰਤਰ ਆਤਮੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਤੇ ਜਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਝਿਮਿ ਝਿਮਿ ਵਰਸੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਧਾਰਾ ॥
jhim jhim varsai amrit Dhaaraa.
Slowly, gently, drop by drop, the stream of nectar of Naam trickles down within.
ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੀ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦੀ ਧਾਰ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਹਜੇ ਵਰ੍ਹਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਮਨੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਸੁਨਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
man peevai sun sabad beechaaraa.
The mind absorbs it, listening and reflecting on the Guru’s word.
ਤਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ) ਵਿਚਾਰ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਧਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਅਨਦ ਬਿਨੋਦ ਕਰੇ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
anad binod karay din raatee sadaa sadaa har kaylaa jee-o. ||2||
Day and Night the mind enjoys bliss and ecstasy and always enjoys the peace arising from union with God.
ਮਨ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕਾ ਵਿਛੁੜਿਆ ਮਿਲਿਆ ॥
janam janam kaa vichhurhi-aa mili-aa.
After separation of many lifetimes; the mortal obtains union with God.
ਜਨਮਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂਤਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਿੱਛੁੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੀਵ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਧ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਸੂਕਾ ਹਰਿਆ ॥
saaDh kirpaa tay sookaa hari-aa.
By the Guru’s grace, dried up mind (devoid of Naam), blossoms again.
ਰੁੱਖਾ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਮਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਰਸ ਨਾਲ ਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੁਮਤਿ ਪਾਏ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਏ ਮੇਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
sumat paa-ay naam Dhi-aa-ay gurmukh ho-ay maylaa jee-o.||3||
By lovingly meditating on Naam through the Guru’s sublime teaching and grace, union with God is attained.
ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਮਤਿ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਜੀਵ ਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਜਲ ਤਰੰਗੁ ਜਿਉ ਜਲਹਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥
jal tarang ji-o jaleh samaa-i-aa.
Just as a wave merges back into water from which it is formed,
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਨਦੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਲਹਿਰ ਉਸ ਨਦੀ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਉੱਭਰ ਕੇ ਮੁੜ ਉਸ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਰਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਤਿਉ ਜੋਤੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥
ti-o jotee sang jot milaa-i-aa.
similarly the soul-light unites with God’s supreme Light,
ਤਿਵੇਂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ) ਸੁਰਤ (ਜੋਤਿ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਕਟੇ ਕਿਵਾੜਾ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਹੋਈਐ ਜਉਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੧੯॥੨੬॥
kaho nanak bharam katay kvarh bahurh na ho-ee-ai ja-ulaa jee-o. ||4||19||26||
Says Nanak, The veil of illusion has been cut away, and the mortal shall not go out wandering after Maya any more.
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਭਟਕਣਾ ਰੂਪ ਤਖ਼ਤੇ (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੈਦ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਬੰਦ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦ) ਹੈ ਖੁਲ੍ਹ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਮੁੜ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਦੌੜ ਭੱਜ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੁਭਾਵ ਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ l
ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Raag Maajh, by the Fifth Guru:
ਤਿਸੁ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਤੂੰ ਸੁਣਿਆ ॥
tis kurbaanee jin tooN suni-aa.
I dedicate myself to the one who listens to Your praises.
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!)ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਭਣਿਆ ॥
tis balihaaree jin rasnaa bhani-aa.
I dedicate myself to the one who recites Your praises.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਵਾਰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਵਾਰਿ ਵਾਰਿ ਜਾਈ ਤਿਸੁ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਜੋ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਰਾਧੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
vaar vaar jaa-ee tis vitahu jo man tan tuDh aaraaDhay jee-o. ||1||
O’ God, I dedicate myself to the one, who lovingly meditates on You.
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ (ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ) ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨਾਲ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ
ਤਿਸੁ ਚਰਣ ਪਖਾਲੀ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੈ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਚਾਲੈ ॥
tis charan pakhaalee jo tayrai maarag chaalai.
(O’ God), I will like to wash the feet of (humbly serve) the person who walks on the path to attain union with You.
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੇ (ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੇ) ਰਾਹ ਤੇ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਧੋਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਨੈਨ ਨਿਹਾਲੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਪੁਰਖ ਦਇਆਲੈ ॥
nain nihaalee tis purakh da-i-aalai.
With my eyes, I long to behold that kind of person.
ਆਪਣਿਆਂ ਨੇਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਣ ਲਈ ਲੋਚਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਮਨੁ ਦੇਵਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸਾਜਨ ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਲਾਧੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
man dayvaa tis apunay saajan jin gur mil so parabh laaDhay jee-o. ||2||
I surrender myself to such a friend, who by meeting the Guru has realized God.
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਉਸ ਸੱਜਣ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਰ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ
ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਤੁਮ ਜਾਣੇ ॥
say vadbhaagee jin tum jaanay.
Very fortunate are those who have realized You.
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਜਿਸ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਲਈ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਸਭ) ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਭ ਕੈ ਮਧੇ ਅਲਿਪਤ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੇ ॥
sabh kai maDhay alipat nirbaanay.
He, while living in the midst of all, remains aloof and free from all worldly desires and vices.
ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਤੇ ਵਾਸਨਾ-ਰਹਿਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਉਨਿ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਤਰਿਆ ਸਗਲ ਦੂਤ ਉਨਿ ਸਾਧੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
saaDh kai sang un bha-ojal tari-aa sagal doot un saaDhay jee-o. ||3||
In the company of the saint (Guru), he has crossed over the terrifying worldly ocean, and has conquered all the demons (vices).
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ) ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਕਰ ਲਏ ਹਨ l
ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰਿਆ ਮਨੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥ ਮਾਣੁ ਤਾਣੁ ਤਜਿ ਮੋਹੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ॥
tin kee saran pari-aa man mayraa.maan taan taj moh anDhayraa.
Renouncing its ego, pride, and darkness of ignorance (love of Maya), my mind has sought the shelter of such godly persons.
ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਾਣ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ, ਤਾਣ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੂਤ ਵੱਸ ਕਰ ਲਏ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਮੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਧੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੨੦॥੨੭॥
naam daan deejai naanak ka-o tis parabh agam agaaDhay jee-o. ||4||20||27||
(Nanak requests them) Please bless Nanak with the Gift of the Naam, the Name of the Inaccessible and Unfathomable God.
(ਉਹਨਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ (ਭੀ) ਉਸ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ, ਅਥਾਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਦਾਨ (ਵਜੋਂ) ਦੇਹੋ l

ਤੂੰ ਪੇਡੁ ਸਾਖ ਤੇਰੀ ਫੂਲੀ ॥
tooN payd saakh tayree foolee.
O’ God, You are like a big tree, and this world is Your blossoming branches.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਮਾਨੋ, ਇਕ ਰੁੱਖ ਹੈਂ, ਇਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਤੈਂ-ਰੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਫੁੱਟੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਟਾਹਣੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਤੂੰ ਸੂਖਮੁ ਹੋਆ ਅਸਥੂਲੀ ॥
tooN sookham ho-aa asthoolee.
You are the subtle essence, which has become tangible as this visible world.
ਤੂੰ ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਹੈਂ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਰੂਪ ਤੋਂ) ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਜਗਤ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੈਂ।
ਤੂੰ ਜਲਨਿਧਿ ਤੂੰ ਫੇਨੁ ਬੁਦਬੁਦਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਭਾਲੀਐ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
tooN jalniDh tooN fayn budbudaa tuDh bin avar na bhaalee-ai jee-o. ||1||
O’ God, You are like the ocean, and this world is like bubbles and froth arising from it. Except You, I do not see anything else.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਮਾਨੋ, ਇਕ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈਂ ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ, ਮਾਨੋ ਝੱਗ ਤੇ ਬੁਲਬੁਲਾ ਭੀ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ। ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿਸਦਾ l
ਤੂੰ ਸੂਤੁ ਮਣੀਏ ਭੀ ਤੂੰਹੈ ॥
tooN soot manee-ay bhee tooNhai.
O’ God, this world is like a necklace and You are the thread and beads
ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ-ਪਸਾਰਾ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਣਿਆ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਸਰੂਪ, ਮਾਨੋ, ਇਕ ਮਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਮਾਲਾ ਦਾ) ਧਾਗਾ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੈਂ, ਮਣਕੇ ਭੀ ਤੂੰ ਹੈਂ,
ਤੂੰ ਗੰਠੀ ਮੇਰੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਤੂੰਹੈ ॥
tooN ganthee mayr sir tooNhai.
Even the knot at the end is You, and the crown bead is also You.
(ਮਣਕਿਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ) ਗੰਢ ਭੀ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ, (ਸਭ ਮਣਕਿਆਂ ਦੇ) ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਮੇਰੂ-ਮਣਕਾ ਭੀ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ।
ਆਦਿ ਮਧਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ਦਿਖਾਲੀਐ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
aad maDh ant parabh so-ee avar na ko-ay dikhaalee-ai jee-o. ||2||
it is You who is in the beginning, middle and end of the world created by You. I do not see any other except You.
ਜਗਤ-ਰਚਨਾ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਵਿਚ ਮੱਧ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਅੰਤ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ
ਤੂੰ ਨਿਰਗੁਣੁ ਸਰਗੁਣੁ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ॥
tooN nirgun sargun sukh-daata.
O’ God, You are the subtle and You are tangible. You are the Giver of all peace.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!ਤੂੰ ਲਛਣਾ-ਰਹਿਤ, ਲਛਣਾ-ਸਹਿਤ ਅਤੇ ਆਰਾਮ ਬਖਸ਼ਣਹਾਰ ਹੈਂ।
ਤੂੰ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੁ ਰਸੀਆ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
tooN nirbaan rasee-aa rang raataa.
You are detached and yet attached that You enjoy all kinds of joys and relishes.
ਤੂੰ ਵਾਸਨਾ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈਂ (ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਰਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੋਗਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਭੀ ਹੈਂ ਤੇ ਰਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਭੀ ਹੈਂ।
ਅਪਣੇ ਕਰਤਬ ਆਪੇ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਆਪੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਸਮਾਲੀਐ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
apnay kartab aapay jaaneh aapay tuDh samaalee-ai jee-o. ||3||
Only You know Your wonders, and You Yourself sustain Your creation.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਇਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਖੇਡ-ਤਮਾਸ਼ੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਭੀ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ l
ਤੂੰ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਫੁਨਿ ਆਪੇ ॥
tooN thaakur sayvak fun aapay.
You are the Master, and then again, You are the humble devotee.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮਾਲਕ ਭੀ ਤੂੰ ਹੈਂ ਤੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਭੀ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ।
ਤੂੰ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਪੇ ॥
tooN gupat pargat parabh aapay.
O God, You Yourself are the Manifest and the Unmanifest.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ) ਤੂੰ ਲੁਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਭੀ ਹੈਂ ਤੇ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਭੀ ਦਿੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸੁ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਇਕ ਭੋਰੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੀਐ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੨੧॥੨੮॥
naanak daas sadaa gun gaavai ik bhoree nadar nihaalee-ai jee-o. ||4||21||28||
O’ Nanak, this humble devotee of Yours always sings Your praises. Please, just for a moment, bless him with Your Glance of Grace.
