ਜੋ ਜੋ ਪੀਵੈ ਸੋ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਵੈ ॥
jo jo peevai so tariptaavai.
Whosoever partakes of the Naam-nectar is satiated, and feel that all their worldly desires have been fulfilled.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜੇਹੜਾ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਮਰੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਜੋ ਨਾਮ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
amar hovai jo naam ras paavai.
He who obtains the Sublime Essence of the Naam never died spiritually.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਨਾਮ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਨਿ ਵੂਠਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
naam niDhaan tiseh paraapat jis sabad guroo man voothaa jee-o. ||2||
The wealth of Naam is obtained by the one in whose mind the holy Word of the Guru is enshrined.
ਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ- ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੋ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਨਾ ॥
jin har ras paa-i-aa so taripat aghaanaa.
One who obtains the Sublime Essence of the Naam is satiated and fulfilled from worldly desires.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਚੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪੂਰਨ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਰੱਜ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੀ ਤ੍ਰੇਹ ਭੁੱਖ ਮਿਟ ਗਈ ਹੈ।)
ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੋ ਨਾਹਿ ਡੁਲਾਨਾ ॥
jin har saad paa-i-aa so naahi dulaanaa.
One who obtains this relish of Naam does not waver.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਚੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਹੱਲਿਆਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ) ਕਦੇ ਡੋਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਤਿਸਹਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗੀਠਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
tiseh paraapat har har naamaa jis mastak bhaageethaa jee-o. ||3||
However, only that person realizes God’s Name in whose destiny it is so pre-ordained.
(ਪਰ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ; ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਚੰਗਾ ਭਾਗ (ਜਾਗ ਪਏ)l
ਹਰਿ ਇਕਸੁ ਹਥਿ ਆਇਆ ਵਰਸਾਣੇ ਬਹੁਤੇਰੇ ॥
har ikas hath aa-i-aa varsaanay bahutayray.
The gift of God’s Name is first obtained by one person (the Guru), and then from him many others benefit.
ਜਦੋਂ ਇਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਇੱਕ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ (ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਬੰਦੇ ਲਾਭ ਉਠਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਤਿਸੁ ਲਗਿ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਭਏ ਘਣੇਰੇ ॥
tis lag mukat bha-ay ghanayray.
By following the Guru, a great many have been liberated from Maya.
ਉਸ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ) ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਵਿਰਲੀ ਡੀਠਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੧੫॥੨੨॥
naam niDhaanaa gurmukh paa-ee-ai kaho naanak virlee deethaa jee-o. ||4||15||22||
Wealth of Naam is obtained by the Guru’s grace. Nanak says, Rare are the persons who have had a taste of this wealth of Naam.
ਇਹ ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ। ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਵਿਰਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ (ਇਸ ਨਾਮ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਦਾ) ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ

Raag Maajh, by the Fifth Guru:
ਨਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਰਿਧਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰੈ ॥
niDh siDh riDh har har har mayrai.
For me God’s Name is the wealth of the world, it is Naam that is the spiritual power, wealth and prosperity.
ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਤਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਨੌ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਤਾਕਤ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭ-ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਧਨ ਦੀ ਬਹੁਲਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਨਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰੈ ॥
janam padaarath gahir gambheerai.
By the grace of the profound and unfathomable God, I have obtained the supreme blessing of human life.
ਡੂੰਘੇ ਤੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਜਿਗਰੇ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ-ਜਨਮ (ਦੁਰਲੱਭ) ਪਦਾਰਥ (ਦਿੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ) ਹੈ।
ਲਾਖ ਕੋਟ ਖੁਸੀਆ ਰੰਗ ਰਾਵੈ ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਲਾਗਾ ਪਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
laakh kot khusee-aa rang raavai jo gur laagaa paa-ee jee-o. ||1||
Never ending spiritual pleasures and delights are enjoyed by the one who humbly follows the Guru’s teachings.
(ਪਰ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ) ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪੇਖਤ ਭਏ ਪੁਨੀਤਾ ॥
darsan paykhat bha-ay puneetaa.
Upon seeing the sight of the Guru and following his teaching, I have been rendered immaculate.
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ) ਦੀਦਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਮੇਰਾ ਤਨ ਮਨ) ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਸਗਲ ਉਧਾਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਮੀਤਾ ॥
sagal uDhaaray bhaa-ee meetaa.
And all my senses are liberated from the vices.
ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਭਰਾ ਤੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ (ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲਏ ਹਨ।
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
agam agochar su-aamee apunaa gur kirpaa tay sach Dhi-aa-ee jee-o. ||2||
By the Guru’s Grace, I meditate on the Inaccessible and Unfathomable God.
ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਉਸ ਮਾਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜੋ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਤਕ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ l
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਖੋਜਹਿ ਸਰਬ ਉਪਾਏ ॥
jaa ka-o khojeh sarab upaa-ay.
The One, who is sought by all,
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਭਾਲਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਕੋ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਪਾਏ ॥
vadbhaagee darsan ko virlaa paa-ay.
Only a rare fortunate person is able to realize Him.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਊਚ ਅਪਾਰ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਥਾਨਾ ਓਹੁ ਮਹਲੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇਖਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
ooch apaar agochar thaanaa oh mahal guroo daykhaa-ee jee-o. ||3||
God is supreme, unfathomable and His virtues are infinite. The Guru has shown me a path to unite with him.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਰਲਾ ਬੰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ, ਜਿਸ ਤਕ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ, ਉਸਦਾ ਉਹ ਉੱਚਾ ਥਾਂ-ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਗੁਰੂ (ਹੀ) ਵਿਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
gahir gambheer amrit naam tayraa.
O’ unfathomable and profound God, Your Name is the Ambrosial Nectar.
ਹੇ ਡੂੰਘੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਜਿਗਰੇ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਭਇਆ ਜਿਸੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਵਸੇਰਾ ॥
mukat bha-i-aa jis ridai vasayraa.
The one in whose heart You dwell, he is liberated from the vices.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ (ਵਾਲਾ) ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਿ ਬੰਧਨ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਸਗਲੇ ਕਾਟੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੧੬॥੨੩॥
gur banDhan tin kay saglay kaatay jan naanak sahj samaa-ee jee-o. ||4||16||23||
O’ Nanak, the Guru cuts off all his bonds of Maya, and he is intuitively absorbed in peace and bliss.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਫਾਹੇ ਕੱਟ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Raag Maajh, by the Fifth Guru:
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਵਉ ॥
parabh kirpaa tay har har Dhi-aava-o.
By God’s Grace, I lovingly remember Him.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਇਆ ਤੇ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਵਉ ॥
parabhoo da-i-aa tay mangal gaava-o.
By God’s mercy, I sing the song of joy in His praise.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਊਠਤ ਬੈਠਤ ਸੋਵਤ ਜਾਗਤ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਗਲ ਅਵਰਦਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
oothat baithat sovat jaagat har Dhi-aa-ee-ai sagal avradaa jee-o. ||1||
Throughout all our life, in every state, whether sitting, standing, sleeping or waking up, we should lovingly remember God.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਉਠਦਿਆਂ ਬੈਠਦਿਆਂ ਸੁੱਤਿਆਂ ਜਾਗਦਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੀ (ਹੀ) ਉਮਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਨਾਮੁ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਸਾਧੂ ਦੀਆ ॥
naam a-ukhaDh mo ka-o saaDhoo dee-aa.
The Guru has given me the potion of Naam,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਦਾਰੂ (ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਕਾਟੇ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਥੀਆ ॥
kilbikh kaatay nirmal thee-aa.
which has destroyed all sins and made me pure.
(ਇਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ) ਪਾਪ ਕੱਟੇ ਗਏ ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਨਿਕਸੀ ਸਭ ਪੀਰਾ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਨਾਸੇ ਦਰਦਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
anad bha-i-aa niksee sabh peeraa sagal binaasay dardaa jee-o. ||2||
I am filled with spiritual bliss, and all pains are gone and my suffering dispelled.
(ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ) ਸੁਖ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੀ) ਸਾਰੀ ਪੀੜਾ ਨਿਕਲ ਗਈ, ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁਖ-ਦਰਦ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ l
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਅੰਗੁ ਕਰੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥
jis kaa ang karay mayraa pi-aaraa.
The one whom my Beloved God protects,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ (ਗੁਰੂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਸਹੈਤਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੋ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਸਾਗਰ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
so muktaa saagar sansaaraa.
is liberated from the world-ocean of vices.
ਉਹ ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ (ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ) ਤੋਂ ਮੁਕਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਸੋ ਕਾਹੇ ਕਉ ਡਰਦਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
sat karay jin guroo pachhaataa so kaahay ka-o dardaa jee-o. ||3||
One who recognizes the Guru, practices Truth; why should he be afraid?
ਜੋ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੰਞਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸੱਚ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਤਦ ਕਿਉਂ ਭੈ-ਭੀਤ ਹੋਵੇ?
ਜਬ ਤੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਾਏ ॥
jab tay saaDhoo sangat paa-ay.
Since I found the holy congregation,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲੀ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਭੇਟਤ ਹਉ ਗਈ ਬਲਾਏ ॥
gur bhaytat ha-o ga-ee balaa-ay.
and followed the Guru’s word, my affliction of ego has been dispelled.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਦੀ ਬਲਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ।
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਵੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਢਾਕਿ ਲੀਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਪੜਦਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੧੭॥੨੪॥
saas saas har gaavai naanak satgur dhaak lee-aa mayraa parh-daa jee-o. ||4||17||24||
The true Guru has saved my honor. Now Nanak sings the praises of God with each and every breath.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ( ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਕੇ) ਮੇਰੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖ ਲਈ ਹੈ। ਹੁਣ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰੇਕ ਸੁਆਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ

ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
ot pot sayvak sang raataa.
Through and through, the God is intermingled with His devotee.
(ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਦਾ ਸੂਤਰ) ਤਾਣੇ ਵਿਚ ਪੇਟੇ ਵਿਚ (ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਿਵੇਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ) ਸੇਵਕ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ॥
parabh partipaalay sayvak sukh-daata.
God, the Giver of Peace, cherishes His devotee.
(ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਾਣੀ ਪਖਾ ਪੀਸਉ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੈ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਹੀ ਕਾ ਆਹਰੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
paanee pakhaa peesa-o sayvak kai thaakur hee kaa aahar jee-o. ||1||
As the devotees are always busy in meditating on God, it is my yearning that I do all the chores like fetch water, wave fan and grind grains for the devotees.
(ਮੇਰੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਢੋਵਾਂ ਪੱਖਾਂ ਫੇਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਚੱਕੀ ਪੀਹਾਂ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ) ਦਾ ਹੀ ਉੱਦਮ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਕਾਟਿ ਸਿਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
kaat silak parabh sayvaa laa-i-aa.
The one whom God has attached to His devotional service after cutting his noose of Maya,
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ (ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ) ਫਾਹੀ ਕੱਟ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਹੁਕਮੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
hukam saahib kaa sayvak man bhaa-i-aa.
God’s Command is pleasing to the mind of that devotee.
ਉਸ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੋਈ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਜੋ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਮਾਹਰੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
so-ee kamaavai jo saahib bhaavai sayvak antar baahar maahar jee-o. ||2||
The devotee only does what pleases God. He thus becomes expert in meditating on Naam and dealing lovingly with others.
ਉਹ ਸੇਵਕ ਉਹੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੇਵਕ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਅਤੇ ਜਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਤੂੰ ਦਾਨਾ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਸਭ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਨਹਿ ॥
tooN daanaa thaakur sabh biDh jaaneh.
O’ God, You are the all-wise Master, You know all the ways of saving Your devotees from the grip of Maya.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਣ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
