ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਪਲੇਟਿਆ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ ॥
maa-i-aa mohi palayti-aa antar agi-aan gubaar.
You remain entangled in the love for materialism and have darkness of spiritual ignorance within you.
ਤੂੰ (ਸਦਾ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਬੇ-ਸਮਝੀ ਦਾ ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਪਾਪ ਸਭਿ ਕਟੀਅਹਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਚੁਕੈ ਗੁਮਾਨੁ ॥
kilvikh paap sabh katee-ah ha-umai chukai gumaan.
All one’s sins are eradicated and one’s egotism and arrogance vanish (by lovingly remembering God).
(ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਐਬ ਕੱਟੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੫੦॥
har har kirpaa Dhaar parabh jan naanak jap har naam. ||50||
O’ God, bestow mercy, so that Your devotee Nanak may always keep remembering Your Name with loving devotion. ||50||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ, ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ, ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਰਹੇ ॥੫੦॥
ਜਲ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਊਪਜੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਜਲ ਪਿਆਸ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
jal hee tay sabh oopjai bin jal pi-aas na jaa-ay.
The entire creation comes from the water of Naam, and that is why one’s thirst for Maya is not quenched without the water of Naam.
(ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ) ਜਲ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ (ਤਾਹੀਏਂ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ) ਜਲ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ( ਜੀਵ ਦੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਤ੍ਰਿਹ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।
ਬਾਬੀਹੇ ਤਨਿ ਮਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ਜਾਂ ਤਤੁ ਬੂੰਦ ਮੁਹਿ ਪਾਇ ॥
baabeehay tan man sukh ho-ay jaaN tat boond muhi paa-ay.
The body and mind of a rain bird like seeker, is delighted only when the essence of the drop of Naam falls into his mouth.
ਜਦੋਂ ਪਪੀਹਾ ( ਨਾਮ-ਬੂੰਦ ਦਾ ਰਸੀਆ) ਨਾਮ-ਬੂੰਦ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਤਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਿਜ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖਿਓ ਜਗਤੁ ਮੈ ਕੋ ਕਾਹੂ ਕੋ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
nij kar daykhi-o jagat mai ko kaahoo ko naahi.
I had looked upon the world as my own, but no one is a lasting support for anyone.
ਮੈਂ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ, (ਪਰ ਇਥੇ ਤਾਂ) ਕੋਈ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਭੀ (ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਆਪਣਾ) ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
