ਆਤਮੁ ਜਿਤਾ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਆਗੰਜਤ ਪਾਗਾ ॥
aatam jitaa gurmatee aaganjat paagaa.
He wins over himself through the Guru’s teachings, and realizes the eternal God.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਤ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸੋ ਕਲਿ ਮਹਿ ਤਾਗਾ ॥
jisahi Dhi-aa-i-aa paarbarahm so kal meh taagaa.
One who remembered the supreme God, became strong enough to face the worldly problems and vices in this Kalyug.
ਜਿਸ ਵੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਕਲਯੁਗ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ) ਟਾਕਰਾ ਕਰਨ ਜੋਗਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ l
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਅਠਸਠਿ ਮਜਨਾਗਾ ॥
saaDhoo sangat nirmalaa athsath majnaagaa.
In the company of the Guru, his mind became immaculate as if he had bathed at all the sixty-eight holy places.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਮਾਨੋ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਅਠਾਹਠ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੋ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸਭਾਗਾ ॥
jis parabh mili-aa aapnaa so purakh sabhaagaa.
Fortunate is the one who has realized his God.
ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਣੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਏਵਡ ਭਾਗਾ ॥੧੭॥
naanak tis balihaarnai jis ayvad bhaagaa. ||17||
O’ Nanak, I am dedicated to that person, who is so fortunate . ||17||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੈਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਉਤੋਂ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਇਤਨੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗ ਹਨ ॥੧੭॥

Shalok, Fifth Guru
ਜਾਂ ਪਿਰੁ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਤਾਂ ਧਨ ਬਾਹਰਿ ॥
jaaN pir andar taaN Dhan baahar.
When husband-God is manifest in the soul-bride’s heart, then she remains detached from the worldly attachments.
ਜਦੋਂ ਪਤੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਮਾਇਕ ਧੰਧਿਆਂ ਝੰਬੇਲਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਜਾਂ ਪਿਰੁ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਤਾਂ ਧਨ ਮਾਹਰਿ ॥
jaaN pir baahar taaN Dhan maahar.
When husband-God is forgotten from her mind, then she considers herself to be an expert and gets engrossed in worldly affairs.
ਜਦੋਂ ਪਤੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਯਾਦ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ, ਤਾਂ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਚੌਧਰਾਨੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਮਾਇਕ ਧੰਅਤੇਧਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਖਚਿਤ ਹੋਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਬਹੁ ਫੇਰ ਫਿਰਾਹਰਿ ॥
bin naavai baho fayr firaahar.
Without remembering God, one wanders through reincarnations.
ਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਜੀਵ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਭਟਕਣਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ਜਾਹਰਿ ॥
satgur sang dikhaa-i-aa jaahar.
One whom the true Guru has clearly shown God dwelling in the heart.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਖਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਹਰਿ ॥੧॥
jan naanak sachay sach samaahar. ||1||
O’ Nanak, that person always remains absorbed in the eternal God. ||1||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

Fifth Guru
ਆਹਰ ਸਭਿ ਕਰਦਾ ਫਿਰੈ ਆਹਰੁ ਇਕੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
aahar sabh kardaa firai aahar ik na ho-ay.
A person keeps making all kinds of efforts (for worldly pleasure), but doesn’t make even a single effort for remembering God.
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਉੱਦਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਉੱਦਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਤੁ ਆਹਰਿ ਜਗੁ ਉਧਰੈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੨॥
naanak jit aahar jag uDhrai virlaa boojhai ko-ay. ||2||
O’ Nanak, only a rare person understands this effort of remembering God, which can save the entire world from vices. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਉਸ ਉੱਦਮ ਨੂੰ) ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਉੱਦਮ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥

ਵਡੀ ਹੂ ਵਡਾ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਮਰਤਬਾ ॥
vadee hoo vadaa apaar tayraa martabaa.
O’ God, highest of the high and beyond any limit is Your status.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੀ ਵੱਡਾ ਰੁਤਬਾ ਹੈ,
ਰੰਗ ਪਰੰਗ ਅਨੇਕ ਨ ਜਾਪਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਕਰਤਬਾ ॥
rang parang anayk na jaapniH kartabaa.
Myriads of Your wonders are happening in the world which cannot be understood.
(ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ) ਤੇਰੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੌਤਕ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਸਮਝੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ।
ਜੀਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਣਲਾ ॥
jee-aa andar jee-o sabh kichh jaanlaa.
You are the life within all beings and You alone know everything.
ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਜਿੰਦ-ਰੂਪ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ) ਹਰੇਕ ਗੱਲ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤੇਰੈ ਵਸਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਘਰੁ ਭਲਾ ॥
sabh kichh tayrai vas tayraa ghar bhalaa.
Everything is under Your control and magnificent is Your abode.
ਸੋਹਣਾ ਹੈ ਤੇਰਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ, ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੀ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ।
ਤੇਰੈ ਘਰਿ ਆਨੰਦੁ ਵਧਾਈ ਤੁਧੁ ਘਰਿ ॥
tayrai ghar aanand vaDhaa-ee tuDh ghar.
There is always bliss and happiness in that heart in which You manifest.
ਤੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਤੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਹਨ,
ਮਾਣੁ ਮਹਤਾ ਤੇਜੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪਿ ਜਰਿ ॥
maan mahtaa tayj aapnaa aap jar.
Your honor, majesty and glory are Yours alone.
ਤੇਰੀ ਕੀਰਤੀ, ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਕੇਵਲ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸ਼ੋਭਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਭਰਪੂਰੁ ਦਿਸੈ ਜਤ ਕਤਾ ॥
sarab kalaa bharpoor disai jat kataa.
You are full with all powers; wherever we look, there You are.
ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਦਿੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸੁ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਗੈ ਬਿਨਵਤਾ ॥੧੮॥
naanak daasan daas tuDh aagai binvataa. ||18||
O’ God, Nanak, the servant of Your devotees, always prays to You alone. ||18||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ (ਹੀ) ਅਰਦਾਸ-ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੮॥

Shalok, Fifth Guru
ਛਤੜੇ ਬਾਜਾਰ ਸੋਹਨਿ ਵਿਚਿ ਵਪਾਰੀਏ ॥
chhat-rhay baajaar sohan vich vapaaree-ai.
Under the sky, many worlds are like canopied markets in which the traders of God’s Name look exquisite.
ਆਕਾਸ਼-ਛੱਤ ਦੇ ਹੇਠ ਛੱਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਜਗ-ਮੰਡਲ, ਮਾਨੋ ਬਾਜ਼ਾਰ ਹਨ, ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਵਪਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਜੀਵ- ਵਪਾਰੀ ਹੀ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਵਖਰੁ ਹਿਕੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਖਟੇ ਸੋ ਧਣੀ ॥੧॥
vakhar hik apaar naanak khatay so Dhanee. ||1||
O’ Nanak, really wealthy is that person alone who earns the inexhaustible wealth of God’s Name. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਇਸ ਜਗਤ-ਮੰਡੀ ਵਿਚ) ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਧਨਵਾਨ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਇਕ ਅਖੁੱਟ (ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ) ਸੌਦਾ ਹੀ ਖੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

Fifth Mehl:
ਕਬੀਰਾ ਹਮਰਾ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਹਮ ਕਿਸ ਹੂ ਕੇ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
kabeeraa hamraa ko nahee ham kis hoo kay naahi.
O’ Kabir, neither anybody belongs to us forever, nor we can belong to anyone forever.
ਹੇ ਕਬੀਰ! ਨਾਹ ਕੋਈ ਸਾਡਾ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਦਾ ਸਾਥੀ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਅਸੀਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਸਾਥੀ ਬਣ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ ।
ਜਿਨਿ ਇਹੁ ਰਚਨੁ ਰਚਾਇਆ ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੨॥
jin ih rachan rachaa-i-aa tis hee maahi samaahi. ||2||
We always remain focused on God who has created this creation. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਰਚਨਾ ਰਚੀ ਹੈ, ਅਸੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਸੇ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ॥੨॥

ਸਫਲਿਉ ਬਿਰਖੁ ਸੁਹਾਵੜਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਫਲ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਾ ॥
safli-o birakh suhaavrhaa har safal amritaa.
God is like a beautiful fruit bearing tree, which is laden with the nectar like rejuvenating fruits of Naam.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਇਕ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਫਲਦਾਰ ਰੁੱਖ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਮਈ ਨਾਮ ਫਲ ਲੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
ਮਨੁ ਲੋਚੈ ਉਨ੍ਹ੍ ਮਿਲਣ ਕਉ ਕਿਉ ਵੰਞੈ ਘਿਤਾ ॥
man lochai unH milan ka-o ki-o vanjai ghitaa.
My mind longs to realize God, but I don’t know how I can realize Him?
ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਲਈ ਤਾਂਘਦਾ ਹੈ (ਪਰ ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਕਿ) ਕਿਵੇਂ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਜਾਏ?
ਵਰਨਾ ਚਿਹਨਾ ਬਾਹਰਾ ਓਹੁ ਅਗਮੁ ਅਜਿਤਾ ॥
varnaa chihnaa baahraa oh agam ajitaa.
Because He is without any colors or forms, is incomprehensible and unconquerable.
ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਨਾਹ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਰੰਗ ਹੈ ਨਾਹ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ, ਉਸ ਤਕ ਪਹੁੰਚਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਤਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਓਹੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਜੀਅ ਕਾ ਜੋ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ੍ਹੈ ਭਿਤਾ ॥
oh pi-aaraa jee-a kaa jo kholHai bhitaa.
That friend who reveals this mystery to me, will be dear to my mind.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਸੱਜਣ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਇਹ ਭੇਤ ਸਮਝਾ ਦੇਵੇ, ਉਹ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ-ਜਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗੇਗਾ।
ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੀ ਤੁਸਾੜੀਆ ਮੈ ਦਸਿਹੁ ਮਿਤਾ ॥
sayvaa karee tusaarhee-aa mai dasihu mitaa.
O’ my friends, I would serve you forever if you tell me about this secret,
ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਇਹ ਭੇਤ) ਦੱਸੋ, ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ।
ਕੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਵੰਞਾ ਵਾਰਣੈ ਬਲੇ ਬਲਿ ਕਿਤਾ ॥
kurbaanee vanjaa vaarnai balay bal kitaa.
and I would be dedicated and devoted to you completely.
ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਥੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਵਾਰਨੇ ਜਾਵਾਂਗਾ।
ਦਸਨਿ ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਲਾਇ ਚਿਤਾ ॥
dasan sant pi-aari-aa sunhu laa-ay chitaa
The saints tell us this secret: O’ dear, listen with focused mind.
ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਇਹ ਭੇਤ ਦੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ (ਤੇ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ) ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣ,
ਜਿਸੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਾਉ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦਿਤਾ ॥੧੯॥
jis likhi-aa naanak daas tis naa-o amrit satgur ditaa. ||19||
O’ devotee Nanak, one who has such preordained destiny, the true Guru has blessed him with the ambrosial nectar of Naam. ||19||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖਿਆ, ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧੯॥

ਕਬੀਰ ਧਰਤੀ ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਤਸਕਰ ਬੈਸਹਿ ਗਾਹਿ ॥
kabeer Dhartee saaDh kee taskar baiseh gaahi.
O’ Kabir, if evil people come and join the company of the Guru,
ਹੇ ਕਬੀਰ! ਜੇ ਵਿਕਾਰੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਚੰਗੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ) ਹੋਰ ਝਾਕ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਬੈਠਣ,
ਧਰਤੀ ਭਾਰਿ ਨ ਬਿਆਪਈ ਉਨ ਕਉ ਲਾਹੂ ਲਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
Dhartee bhaar na bi-aapa-ee un ka-o laahoo laahi. ||1||
then the holy congregation is not harmed by their presence, instead the evil people get benefited. ||1||
ਤਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਅਸਰ ਉਸ ਸੰਗਤ ਉਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ। ਹਾਂ, ਵਿਕਾਰੀ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਲਾਭ ਅੱਪੜਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

Fifth Guru:
ਕਬੀਰ ਚਾਵਲ ਕਾਰਣੇ ਤੁਖ ਕਉ ਮੁਹਲੀ ਲਾਇ ॥
kabeer chaaval kaarnay tukh ka-o muhlee laa-ay.
O’ Kabir, the husk is threshed to obtain rice; just as along with husk the rice also bear the brunt,
ਹੇ ਕਬੀਰ! (ਤੋਹਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ) ਚੌਲ (ਵੱਖਰੇ ਕਰਨ) ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ (ਛੜਨ ਵੇਲੇ) ਤੋਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਹਲੀ (ਦੀ ਸੱਟ) ਵੱਜਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸੰਗਿ ਕੁਸੰਗੀ ਬੈਸਤੇ ਤਬ ਪੂਛੇ ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ॥੨॥
sang kusangee baistay tab poochhay Dharam raa-ay. ||2||
similarly, when a person joins the company of evil doers, the judge of righteousness asks him the account of his deeds. ||2||
ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਹਬਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਹ ਭੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੱਟ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਵਿਕਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਧਰਮਰਾਜ ਲੇਖਾ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥

ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਵਡ ਪਰਵਾਰੁ ਆਪਿ ਇਕਾਤੀਆ ॥
aapay hee vad parvaar aap ikaatee-aa.
O’ God, You Yourself have this world as Your largest family, and You Yourself also remain alone.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜਗਤ-ਰੂਪ) ਵੱਡੇ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇ (ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ) ਇਕੱਲਾ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਭੀ ਹੈਂ।
ਆਪਣੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਆਪਿ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਜਾਤੀਆ ॥
aapnee keemat aap aapay hee jaatee-aa.
You Yourself have created Your worth and only You Yourself know it.
ਆਪਣੀ ਕਦਰ ਬਣਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਭੀ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇ ਕਦਰ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਭੀ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ।
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਆਪਿ ਉਪੰਨਿਆ ॥
sabh kichh aapay aap aap upanni-aa.
This universe is Your own visible form and You Yourself have created it,
ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੀ (ਸਰਗੁਣ) ਰੂਪ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਇਹ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਦਿੱਸਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ,
ਆਪਣਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਆਪਿ ਵਰੰਨਿਆ ॥
aapnaa keetaa aap aap varanni-aa.
and You Yourself can describe Your creation.
ਇਸ ਸਾਰੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਰੂਪ-ਰੰਗ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਭੀ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ।
ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਥਾਨੁ ਜਿਥੈ ਤੂ ਵੁਠਾ ॥
Dhan so tayraa thaan jithai too vuthaa.
O’ God, blessed is that place where You dwell,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਉਹ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਥੇ ਤੂੰ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈਂ,
