ਤਿਥੈ ਤੂ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਜਿਥੈ ਕੋਇ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
tithai too samrath jithai ko-ay naahi.
O’ God, You are capable of saving a person in that situation, where none else can.
ਜਿੱਥੇ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ (ਜੀਵ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਜੋਗਾ) ਨਹੀਂ ਉਥੇ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨ ਜੋਗਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਓਥੈ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਖ ਅਗਨੀ ਉਦਰ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
othai tayree rakh agnee udar maahi.
You provide protection to the being even in the fire of the mother’s womb.
ਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੇਟ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੁਣਿ ਕੈ ਜਮ ਕੇ ਦੂਤ ਨਾਇ ਤੇਰੈ ਛਡਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥
sun kai jam kay doot naa-ay tayrai chhad jaahi.
Upon hearing Your Name, demons of death leave one and run away.
ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਜਮਦੂਤ (ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ) ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਚਲੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਭਉਜਲੁ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਅਸਗਾਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਾਹਿ ॥
bha-ojal bikham asgaahu gur sabdee paar paahi.
The beings crossover even the most difficult, dreadful and unfathomable worldly ocean of vices by following the Guru’s word.
ਇਸ ਔਖੇ ਤੇ ਅਥਾਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਾਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਲਗੀ ਪਿਆਸ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸੇਇ ਖਾਹਿ ॥
jin ka-o lagee pi-aas amrit say-ay khaahi.
But only those who have the craving for the ambrosial nectar of Naam, partake in it.
ਪਰ ਉਹੀ ਬੰਦੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਛਕਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਭੁੱਖ-ਪਿਆਸ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
ਕਲਿ ਮਹਿ ਏਹੋ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਗਾਹਿ ॥
kal meh ayho punn gun govind gaahi.
This is the only sublime deed in Kalyug that God’s praises are sung.
ਕਲਯੁਗ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇਹੀ ਨੇਕੀ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਭਸੈ ਨੋ ਕਿਰਪਾਲੁ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲੇ ਸਾਹਿ ਸਾਹਿ ॥
sabhsai no kirpaal samHaalay saahi saahi.
God is merciful to all and takes care of all at each and every breath.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਦੀ ਸੁਆਸ ਸੁਆਸ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਰਥਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਜਿ ਆਵੈ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਹਿ ॥੯॥
birthaa ko-ay na jaa-ay je aavai tuDh aahi. ||9||
O’ God, who ever comes to Your refuge, does not go empty handed. ||9||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਹੜਾ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਖ਼ਾਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ ॥੯॥

Shalok, Fifth Guru:
ਦੂਜਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਨ ਬੁਝਾਇਹੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥
doojaa tis na bujhaa-iho paarbarahm naam dayh aaDhaar.
O’ God, one whom You provide the support of Your Name, You do not let that person think about the support of anyone else.
ਹੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਸਰਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਆਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਝਾਉਂਦਾ।
ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੋ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਸਚੁ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ॥
agam agochar saahibo samrath sach daataar.
O’ God, You are inaccessible, and incomprehensible, all powerful and true beneficent Master.
ਤੂੰ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈਂ; ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਦੌੜ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹਰੇਕ ਸੱਤਿਆ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ।
ਤੂ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਦਰਬਾਰੁ ॥
too nihchal nirvair sach sachaa tuDh darbaar.
You are eternal, without enmity, and Your presence is eternal.
ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਅਟੱਲ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇਰਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੈਰ ਨਹੀਂ, ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈਐ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰੁ ॥
keemat kahan na jaa-ee-ai ant na paaraavaar.
Your worth cannot be described and You have no end or limit.
ਤੇਰਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ, ਤੇਰਾ ਹੱਦ-ਬੰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ, ਤੇਰਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਹੋਰੁ ਜਿ ਮੰਗਣਾ ਸਭੁ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਰਸ ਛਾਰੁ ॥
parabh chhod hor je mangnaa sabh bikhi-aa ras chhaar.
To ask for anything other than God’s Name, is useless like poison and ashes.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਛੜ ਕੇ ਹੋਰ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਮੰਗਣੀਆਂ-ਇਹ ਸਭ ਮਾਇਆ ਰੂਪ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਤੇ ਸੁਆਹ-ਤੁੱਲ ਹਨ।
ਸੇ ਸੁਖੀਏ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਹ ਸੇ ਜਿਨ ਸਚਾ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੁ ॥
say sukhee-ay sach saah say jin sachaa bi-uhaar.
They alone are happy and true merchants, who deal in God’s true Name.
ਉਹੀ ਬੰਦੇ ਸੁਖੀ ਹਨ, ਉਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਵਪਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਨਾ ਲਗੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਮ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
jinaa lagee pareet parabh naam sahj sukh saar.
Those who are imbued with love of God’s Name, are blessed with the essence of inner peace and poise.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਬਣੀ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦਾ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਸੁਖ ਨਸੀਬ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਇਕੁ ਆਰਾਧੇ ਸੰਤਨ ਰੇਣਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
naanak ik aaraaDhay santan raynaar. ||1||
O’ Nanak, remaining in the humble service of holy people, they remember God with loving devotion. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਅਰਾਧਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥

Fifth Guru:
ਅਨਦ ਸੂਖ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮ ਨਿਤ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਇ ॥
anad sookh bisraam nit har kaa keertan gaa-ay.
O’ my friend, by always singing praises of God, one receives bliss, comfort and calmness.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਅਵਰ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਛਾਡਿ ਦੇਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਉਧਰਸਿ ਨਾਇ ॥੨॥
avar si-aanap chhaad deh naanak uDhras naa-ay. ||2||
O’ Nanak, forsake all other cleverness, you will swim across the world-ocean of vices only by meditating on God’s Name. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਹੋਰ ਚਤੁਰਾਈਆਂ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਹ, ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਤਰ ਜਾਹਿਂਗਾ ॥੨॥

Pauree:
ਨਾ ਤੂ ਆਵਹਿ ਵਸਿ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਘਿਣਾਵਣੇ ॥
naa too aavahi vas bahut ghinaavanay.
O’ God, You are not swayed by begging before You.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਬਹੁਤੇ ਵਿਖਾਵੇ ਦੇ ਤਰਲੇ ਲਿਆਂ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ,
ਨਾ ਤੂ ਆਵਹਿ ਵਸਿ ਬੇਦ ਪੜਾਵਣੇ ॥
naa too aavahi vas bayd parhaavanay.
You are not won over by reading or teaching Vedas.
ਵੇਦ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਉਣ ਨਾਲ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ।
ਨਾ ਤੂ ਆਵਹਿ ਵਸਿ ਤੀਰਥਿ ਨਾਈਐ ॥
naa too aavahi vas tirath naa-ee-ai.
No one can please You by bathing at holy places,
ਤੀਰਥ ਉਤੇ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ,
ਨਾ ਤੂ ਆਵਹਿ ਵਸਿ ਧਰਤੀ ਧਾਈਐ ॥
naa too aavahi vas Dhartee Dhaa-ee-ai.
and You cannot be won over by wandering all over the world.
(ਰਮਤੇ ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ) ਸਾਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਗਾਹਣ ਨਾਲ, ਤੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ,
ਨਾ ਤੂ ਆਵਹਿ ਵਸਿ ਕਿਤੈ ਸਿਆਣਪੈ ॥
naa too aavahi vas kitai si-aanpai.
O’ God, You cannot be won over through any cleverness,
ਕਿਸੇ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ-ਸਿਆਣਪ ਨਾਲ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ,
ਨਾ ਤੂ ਆਵਹਿ ਵਸਿ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇ ॥
naa too aavahi vas bahutaa daan day.
and You can not be influenced by giving huge donations to charities.
ਬਹੁਤਾ ਦਾਨ ਦੇਣ ਨਾਲ, ਤੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ (ਕਿਸੇ ਉਤੇ ਰੀਝਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ)।
ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਤੇਰੈ ਵਸਿ ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰਾ ॥
sabh ko tayrai vas agam agocharaa.
O’ inaccessible and incomprehensible God, every being is under Your control,
ਹੇ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੇ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਹੈ ,
ਤੂ ਭਗਤਾ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਭਗਤਾ ਤਾਣੁ ਤੇਰਾ ॥੧੦॥
too bhagtaa kai vas bhagtaa taan tayraa. ||10||
but You are only won over by Your devotees and they depend only upon Your support.||10||
ਪਰ ਤੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾ ਭਗਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਕੇਵਲ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੦॥

Shalok, Fifth Guru:
ਆਪੇ ਵੈਦੁ ਆਪਿ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੁ ॥
aapay vaid aap naaraa-in.
God Himself is the true physician to cure the affliction of the mind,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਆਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਹਟਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਹਕੀਮ ਹੈ,
ਏਹਿ ਵੈਦ ਜੀਅ ਕਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਇਣ ॥
ayhi vaid jee-a kaa dukh laa-in.
whereas these worldly physicians afflict the mind with pain.
ਇਹ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਾਲੇ) ਹਕੀਮ (ਪਖੰਡੀ ਧਰਮ-ਆਗੂ) ਆਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਗੋਂ ਦੁੱਖ ਚੰਬੋੜਦੇ ਹਨ|
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਖਾਇਣ ॥
gur kaa sabad amrit ras khaa-in.
The Guru’s word is the ambrosial nectar, the only thing to be taken (to cure the afflictions of the mind).
(ਆਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਕੱਟਣ ਲਈ) ਖਾਣ-ਜੋਗੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ (ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ਸਭਿ ਦੂਖ ਮਿਟਾਇਣ ॥੧॥
naanak jis man vasai tis kay sabh dookh mitaa-in. ||1||
O’ Nanak, one in whose mind is enshrined the divine word of the Guru, all his ailments vanish. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ) ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥

Fifth Guru:
ਹੁਕਮਿ ਉਛਲੈ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਰਹੈ ॥
hukam uchhlai hukmay rahai.
O’ my friends, as per God’s command one jumps in pride and goes astray, and as per His will one remains humble.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਜੀਵ ਉਛਾਲਦਾ ਹੈ (ਹੰਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ), ਹੁਕਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੀ ਨਿਰਮਤਾਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਮ ਕਰਿ ਸਹੈ ॥
hukmay dukh sukh sam kar sahai.
In God’s command, one bears pain and pleasure alike.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ ਦੁੱਖ ਸੁਖ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਜਾਣ ਕੇ ਸਹਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਹੋਵੈ ਦਾਤਿ ॥
hukmay naam japai din raat. naanak jis no hovai daat.
O’ Nanak, one who is blessed by God, as per His will, that person always lovingly remembers Him.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹੁਕਮਿ ਮਰੈ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਹੀ ਜੀਵੈ ॥
hukam marai hukmay hee jeevai.
In God’s will, one dies and in His will one lives also.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਵ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਜਿਊਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਨਾਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਵਡਾ ਥੀਵੈ ॥
hukmay naanHaa vadaa theevai.
In His will, one is tiny at birth and then becomes a young person.
ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ (ਪਹਿਲਾਂ) ਨਿੱਕਾ ਜਿਹਾ (ਤੇ ਫਿਰ) ਵੱਡਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਸੋਗ ਹਰਖ ਆਨੰਦ ॥
hukmay sog harakh aanand.
As per God’s will, sorrow, happiness and bliss befall on the being,
ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ) ਚਿੰਤਾ ਤੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਾਪਰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਜਪੈ ਨਿਰੋਧਰ ਗੁਰਮੰਤ ॥
hukmay japai niroDhar gurmant.
and in His command, he meditates on the Guru’s infallible word.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ (ਕੋਈ ਜੀਵ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰਥ ਹੈ।
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਆਵਣੁ ਜਾਣੁ ਰਹਾਏ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਭਗਤੀ ਲਾਏ ॥੨॥
hukmay aavan jaan rahaa-ay. naanak jaa ka-o bhagtee laa-ay. ||2||
O’ Nanak, one whom God unites to His devotional worship, as per His command, He ends that person’s cycle of birth and death. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜੰਮਣਾ ਮਰਨਾ ਭੀ ਰੋਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥

ਹਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਢਾਢੀ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ਜਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਸੇਵਦਾਰੁ ॥
ha-o tis dhaadhee kurbaan je tayraa sayvdaar.
O’ God, I am dedicated to that bard (sings God’s praises) who is Your devotee.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਢਾਢੀ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਢਾਢੀ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ਜਿ ਗਾਵੈ ਗੁਣ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
ha-o tis dhaadhee balihaar je gaavai gun apaar.
Yes, I am dedicated to that bard, who sings of Your infinite virtues.
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਢਾਢੀ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੋ ਢਾਢੀ ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਲੋੜੇ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ॥
so dhaadhee Dhan Dhan jis lorhay nirankaar.
Blessed is that bard, whom the Formless God Himself seeks.
ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਢਾਢੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਆਪ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੋ ਢਾਢੀ ਭਾਗਠੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਚਾ ਦੁਆਰ ਬਾਰੁ ॥
so dhaadhee bhaagath jis sachaa du-aar baar.
Fortunate is that bard, who has access to God’s presence.
ਮੁਬਾਰਿਕ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਢਾਢੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸੱਚਾ ਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੈ।
ਓਹੁ ਢਾਢੀ ਤੁਧੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਕਲਾਣੇ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਣਾਰ ॥
oh dhaadhee tuDh Dhi-aa-ay kalaanay din rainaar.
O’ God, such a bard lovingly remembers You and always sings Your praises;
ਅਜੇਹਾ (ਸੁਭਾਗਾ) ਢਾਢੀ ਸਦਾ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਧਿਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਮੰਗੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਕਦੇ ਹਾਰਿ ॥
mangai amrit naam na aavai kaday haar.
he begs for the ambrosial nectar of Naam, never loses the game of life and comes back as victorious.
ਤੈਥੋਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਦੀ ਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਹਾਰ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ (ਜਿੱਤ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਕਪੜੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਸਚੁ ਰਹਦਾ ਲਿਵੈ ਧਾਰ ॥
kaparh bhojan sach rahdaa livai Dhaar.
Your eternal Name is that bard’s spiritual food and protection of honor; he always remains focused on You.
ਤੇਰਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ (ਉਸ ਢਾਢੀ ਪਾਸ, ਪੜਦਾ ਕੱਜਣ ਲਈ) ਕੱਪੜਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਤੇਰੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੋ ਢਾਢੀ ਗੁਣਵੰਤੁ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥੧੧॥
so dhaadhee gunvant jis no parabh pi-aar. ||11||
Truly virtuoue is that bard who is blessed with God’s love. ||11||
(ਅਸਲ) ਗੁਣਵਾਨ ਉਹੀ ਢਾਢੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਹਾਸਲ ਹੈ ॥੧੧॥
