ਸਾਧ ਪਠਾਏ ਆਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਮ ਤੁਮ ਤੇ ਨਾਹੀ ਦੂਰਿ ॥
saaDh pathaa-ay aap har ham tum tay naahee door.
God Himself sent the Guru in the world to tell us that He is not far from us.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਭੇਜਿਆ। (ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭੈ ਮਿਟਿ ਗਏ ਰਮਣ ਰਾਮ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੨॥
naanak bharam bhai mit ga-ay raman raam bharpoor. ||2||
O’ Nanak, doubt and fear are dispelled by lovingly remembering the all pervading God. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਭਟਕਣਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥

ਰੁਤਿ ਸਿਸੀਅਰ ਸੀਤਲ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੇ ਮੰਘਰ ਪੋਹਿ ਜੀਉ ॥
rut sisee-ar seetal har pargatay manghar pohi jee-o.
Just as the winter months of Maghar and Poh (November-December) brings a lot of cold weather, similarly the one in whose heart God manifests,
ਮੰਘਰ ਪੋਹ ਦੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਆਲ ਦੀ ਰੁੱਤ ਠੰਢ ਵਰਤਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪਰਕਾਸ਼ ਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਲਨਿ ਬੁਝੀ ਦਰਸੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਧ੍ਰੋਹ ਜੀਉ ॥
jalan bujhee daras paa-i-aa binsay maa-i-aa Dharoh jee-o.
the fire of his worldly desire is put off and the deceits of Maya vanish by experiencing the blessed vision of God
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਬੁੱਝ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਕੇ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਵਲ-ਛਲ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਭਿ ਕਾਮ ਪੂਰੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਜੂਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਸੇਵਕਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ॥
sabh kaam pooray mil hajooray har charan sayvak sayvi-aa.
That humble devotee of God who performed the devotional worship of God, he realized Him and all his tasks got accomplished.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਜਿਸ ਚਰਨ-ਸੇਵਕ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਪੂਰੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ
ਹਾਰ ਡੋਰ ਸੀਗਾਰ ਸਭਿ ਰਸ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਵਿਆ ॥
haar dor seegaar sabh ras gun gaa-o alakh abhayvi-aa.
O’ my friend, sing the praises of the incomprehensible God because all the worldly pleasures and decorations are included in it.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਅਲੱਖ ਅਭੇਵ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰੋ।ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ (ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ) ਹਾਰ ਡੋਰ ਆਦਿਕ ਸਾਰੇ ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ
ਭਾਉ ਭਗਤਿ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਬਾਂਛਤ ਜਮੁ ਨ ਸਾਕੈ ਜੋਹਿ ਜੀਉ ॥
bhaa-o bhagat govind baaNchhat jam na saakai johi jee-o.
Those who long for the love and devotional worship of God, the demon of death cannot even look at them.
ਜੋ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਅਤੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ (ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ) ਮੰਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਦੂਤ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵੱਲ ਤੱਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ l
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਮੇਲੀ ਤਹ ਨ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਬਿਛੋਹ ਜੀਉ ॥੬॥
binvant naanak parabh aap maylee tah na paraym bichhoh jee-o. ||6||
Nanak submits, the soul-bride whom God has Himself united with Him, never suffers separation from her beloved God again. ||6||
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ-ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੋੜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ॥੬॥

ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਡੋਲਤ ਨਾਹੀ ਚੀਤ ॥
har Dhan paa-i-aa sohaaganee dolat naahee cheet.
The fortunate soul-bride who has received the wealth of God’s Name, her mind does not waver toward worldly riches and power:
ਜਿਸ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਚਿੱਤ (ਕਦੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ) ਨਹੀਂ ਡੋਲਦਾ ,
ਸੰਤ ਸੰਜੋਗੀ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੀਤ ॥੧॥
sant sanjogee naankaa garihi pargatay parabh meet. ||1||
O’ Nanak, upon meeting the saints, God becomes manifest in her heart. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਪਏ ॥੧॥
ਨਾਦ ਬਿਨੋਦ ਅਨੰਦ ਕੋਡ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਨੇ ॥
naad binod anand kod pari-a pareetam sang banay.
By remembering beloved God, one feels as if he is enjoying all kinds of melodious tunes, plays, and blissful festivities.
ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆਂ (ਮਾਨੋ, ਅਨੇਕਾਂ) ਰਾਗਾਂ ਤਮਾਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਕੌਤਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਨੰਦ (ਮਾਣ ਲਈਦੇ ਹਨ)।
ਮਨ ਬਾਂਛਤ ਫਲ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਭਨੇ ॥੨॥
man baaNchhat fal paa-i-aa har naanak naam bhanay. ||2||
O’ Nanak, all desires of the mind are fulfilled by uttering God’s Name with adoration. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਿਆਂ ਮਨ-ਮੰਗੀਆਂ ਮੁਰਾਦਾਂ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥੨॥

ਹਿਮਕਰ ਰੁਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵਤੀ ਮਾਘੁ ਫਗਣੁ ਗੁਣਵੰਤ ਜੀਉ ॥
himkar rut man bhaavtee maagh fagan gunvant jee-o.
Just as the snowy winter season, the months of Maagh and Faggan (Jan-Feb) are very meritorious and pleasing to the mind, similarly when God manifests in the heart, the heat of vices ends.
ਮਾਘ ਤੇ ਫੱਗਣ, ਇਹ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਬੜੀਆਂ ਖ਼ੂਬੀਆਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ,ਜਿਵੇਂ ਬਰਫ਼ਾਨੀ ਰੁੱਤ ਮਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਜਿਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਠੰਢ ਦਾ ਪੁੰਜ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਥੇ ਭੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਪਸ਼ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ)।
ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਲੀ ਗਾਉ ਮੰਗਲੋ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਆਏ ਹਰਿ ਕੰਤ ਜੀਉ ॥
sakhee sahaylee gaa-o manglo garihi aa-ay har kant jee-o.
O’ my friends, sing the songs of joy because my Husband-God has manifested in my heart.
ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀਓ! ਤੁਸੀ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਉ, ਕਿਉਂਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ
ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਲਾਲ ਆਏ ਮਨਿ ਧਿਆਏ ਸੇਜ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਸੋਹੀਆ ॥
garihi laal aa-ay man Dhi-aa-ay sayj sundar sohee-aa.
Yes, my beloved-God has manifested in my heart whom I had remembered in my mind and now my heart is beautifully adorned.
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ਜਿਹਡੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਮਰੇ ਸਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਦੀ) ਸੇਜ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ
ਵਣੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਣੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਭਏ ਹਰਿਆ ਦੇਖਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਮੋਹੀਆ ॥
van tarin taribhavan bha-ay hari-aa daykh darsan mohee-aa.
I am fascinated by seeing the blessed vision of God and now the woods, the meadows and the three worlds have blossomed.
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੋਹੀ ਗਈ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ,ਮੈਂਨੂੰ ਜੰਗਲ, ਘਾਹ-ਬੂਟ, ਤਿੰਨ ਭਵਨ ਹਰੇ-ਭਰੇ ਦਿੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਮਿਲੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਇਛ ਪੁੰਨੀ ਮਨਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਮੰਤ ਜੀਉ ॥
milay su-aamee ichh punnee man japi-aa nirmal mant jee-o.
When I meditated on the immaculate Mantra of Naam, I realized my Husband-God and all my desires got fulfilled.
ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨਾਮ-ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਜਪਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਜੀ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਅਤੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਮਨੋ-ਕਾਮਨਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਤ ਕਰਹੁ ਰਲੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਸ੍ਰੀਧਰ ਕੰਤ ਜੀਉ ॥੭॥
binvant naanak nit karahu ralee-aa har milay sareeDhar kant jee-o. ||7||
Nanak submits, O’ my friends! make merry every day because our God, the master of Maya, the worldly riches and power has manifest within. ||7||
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ-ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀਓ! ਤੁਸੀ ਸਦਾ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਮਾਣੋ ਕਿਉਂਕੇ ਹੁਣ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪਤੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਆ ਮਿਲੇ ਹਣ ॥੭॥

ਸੰਤ ਸਹਾਈ ਜੀਅ ਕੇ ਭਵਜਲ ਤਾਰਣਹਾਰ ॥
sant sahaa-ee jee-a kay bhavjal taaranhaar.
Saints are our helpers in life and are capable of ferrying us across the worldly ocean of vices.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ) ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ (ਬਣਦੇ ਹਨ), (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣ ਦੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚੇ ਜਾਣੀਅਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਪਿਆਰ ॥੧॥
sabh tay oochay jaanee-ahi naanak naam pi-aar. ||1||
O’ Nanak, those who love God’s Name, are considered the highest of all. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ (ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਹੋਰ) ਸਭ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਮੰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਜਿਨ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਸੇਈ ਤਰੇ ਸੇ ਸੂਰੇ ਸੇ ਬੀਰ ॥
jin jaani-aa say-ee taray say sooray say beer.
Those who have realized God, have crossed over the worldly ocean of vices; they alone are the brave heroes and warriors against the evils.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਲਈ, ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਏ, ਉਹੀ (ਅਸਲ) ਸੂਰਮੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹੀ (ਅਸਲ) ਬਹਾਦਰ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਣੈ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਉਤਰੇ ਤੀਰ ॥੨॥
naanak tin balihaarnai har jap utray teer. ||2||
O’ Nanak! I am dedicated to those, who have crossed over the worldly ocean of vices by meditating on God with loving devotion. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੇ) ਪਾਰਲੇ ਕੰਢੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਗਏ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੨॥

ਚਰਣ ਬਿਰਾਜਿਤ ਸਭ ਊਪਰੇ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਸਗਲ ਕਲੇਸੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
charan biraajit sabh oopray miti-aa sagal kalays jee-o.
God’s immaculate Name is above all; those who enshrine it in their heart, all their sorrows and sufferings are eradicated.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਣ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸਟ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਸਦਾ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਰੰਜ ਗਮ ਮਿੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਆਵਣ ਜਾਵਣ ਦੁਖ ਹਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕੀਆ ਪਰਵੇਸੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
aavan jaavan dukh haray har bhagat kee-aa parvays jee-o.
Those in whom is enshrined the devotional worship of God, all their pains of birth and death are eradicated
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਆ ਵੱਸਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਾਤੇ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਬੀਸਰੈ ॥
har rang raatay sahj maatay til na man tay beesrai.
Imbued with God’s love, they remain elated in celestial peace and poise; they do not forget Him, even for an instant.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ (ਸਦਾ) ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ (ਸਦਾ) ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੁੱਲਦਾ।
ਤਜਿ ਆਪੁ ਸਰਣੀ ਪਰੇ ਚਰਨੀ ਸਰਬ ਗੁਣ ਜਗਦੀਸਰੈ ॥
taj aap sarnee paray charnee sarab gun jagdeesrai.
Shedding their self-conceit, they enter the refuge of the immaculate Name of God, the Master of all virtues.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਿ ਸ੍ਰੀਰੰਗ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਆਦਿ ਕਉ ਆਦੇਸੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
govind gun niDh sareerang su-aamee aad ka-o aadays jee-o.
O’ my friend humbly bow to the Master-God of the universe, the treasure of virtues, the Master of wealth, who has been there before the beginning of time.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪਤੀ, ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਢ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ।
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਇਆ ਧਾਰਹੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੋ ਇਕ ਵੇਸੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੮॥੧॥੬॥੮॥
binvant naanak ma-i-aa Dhaarahu jug jugo ik vays jee-o. ||8||1||6||8||
Nanak submits, O’ God! bestow mercy so that I may remain attached to Your eternal form which has been there age after age. ||8||1||6||8||
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ, ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਰੂਪ ਨਾਲ ਜੁਡਿਆ ਰਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੁਗ ਵਿਚ ਇਕੋ ਅਟੱਲ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੮॥੧॥੬॥੮॥
ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ਦਖਣੀ ਓਅੰਕਾਰੁ

Raag Raamkalee, First Guru, Dakhanee, Onkaar:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਓਅੰਕਾਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਉਤਪਤਿ ॥
o-ankaar barahmaa utpat.
Onkaar is that one all pervading God who created Brahma.
ਓਅੰਕਾਰ’ ਉਹ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਦਾ (ਭੀ) ਜਨਮ ਹੋਇਆ,
ਓਅੰਕਾਰੁ ਕੀਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਚਿਤਿ ॥
o-ankaar kee-aa jin chit.
It was that Onkaar, the all pervading God, whom Brahma adored in his mind.
ਉਸ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਨੇ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਇਆ।
ਓਅੰਕਾਰਿ ਸੈਲ ਜੁਗ ਭਏ ॥
o-ankaar sail jug bha-ay.
It was from Onkaar, the universe and yugas came into existence.
ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਤੇ ਸਮੇ ਦੀ ਵੰਡ ਉਸ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਹੋਏ,
ਓਅੰਕਾਰਿ ਬੇਦ ਨਿਰਮਏ ॥
o-ankaar bayd nirma-ay.
Onkaar created the Vedas (scriptures).
ਵੇਦ ਭੀ ਓਅੰਕਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਬਣੇ।
