ਏਹੁ ਜੋਗੁ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਜੋਗੀ ਜਿ ਕੁਟੰਬੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਪਰਭਵਣੁ ਕਰਹਿ ॥
ayhu jog na hovai jogee je kutamb chhod parbhavan karahi.
O Yogi, this is not Yoga, that you abandon your family and wander around.
ਹੇ ਜੋਗੀ! ਇਹ ਜੋਗ ਨਹੀਂ, ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਥਾਂ ਥਾਂ ਭੌਦਾਂ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ,।
ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਮਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਅਪਣਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਲਹਹਿ ॥੮॥
garih sareer meh har har naam gur parsaadee apnaa har parabh laheh. ||8||
God is dwelling in your body; you can realize Him through the Guru’s grace. ||8||
ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਸਕੇਂਗਾ ॥੮॥
ਇਹੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਮਿਟੀ ਕਾ ਪੁਤਲਾ ਜੋਗੀ ਇਸੁ ਮਹਿ ਰੋਗੁ ਵਡਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
ih jagat mitee kaa putlaa jogee is meh rog vadaa tarisnaa maa-i-aa.
O’ yogi, this world is like a puppet of clay and it is afflicted with the terrible disease of yearning for worldly wealth and power.
ਹੇ ਜੋਗੀ! ਇਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਮਿੱਟੀ ਦਾ ਬੁੱਤ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਰੋਗ ਲੱਗਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਅਨੇਕ ਜਤਨ ਭੇਖ ਕਰੇ ਜੋਗੀ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥੯॥
anayk jatan bhaykh karay jogee rog na jaa-ay gavaa-i-aa. ||9||
O’ yogi, even if one wears holy garbs and makes innumerable efforts, even then this malady cannot be eradicated ||9||
ਹੇ ਜੋਗੀ! ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਤਿਆਗੀਆਂ ਵਾਲੇ) ਭੇਖ ਆਦਿਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੇ, ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਇਹ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੯॥
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਹੈ ਜੋਗੀ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥
har kaa naam a-ukhaDh hai jogee jis no man vasaa-ay.
O’ yogi, the cure for it is God’s Name, but only that person receives this medicine in whose mind God Himself enshrines it.
ਹੇ ਜੋਗੀ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਇਸ ਰੋਗ ਦੀ ਦਵਾਈ ਹੈ (ਪਰ ਇਹ ਦਵਾਈ ਉਹੀ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਇਹ ਦਵਾਈ ਵਸਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਬੂਝੈ ਜੋਗ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਸੋ ਪਾਏ ॥੧੦॥
gurmukh hovai so-ee boojhai jog jugat so paa-ay. ||10||
That person alone understands this secret who follows the Guru’s teachings, and he alone finds the true way of yoga, the union with God. ||10||
ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ ਭੇਤ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਢੰਗ ਸਿੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੦॥
ਜੋਗੈ ਕਾ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਹੈ ਜੋਗੀ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਪਾਏ ॥
jogai kaa maarag bikham hai jogee jis no nadar karay so paa-ay.
O’ yogi the path of yoga (union with God) is difficult; he alone finds it, upon whom God bestows gace.
ਹੇ ਜੋਗੀ! ਜੋਗ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਮਿਲਾਪ ) ਦਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਔਖਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਰਸਤਾ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਵੇਖੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਏ ॥੧੧॥
antar baahar ayko vaykhai vichahu bharam chukaa-ay. ||11||
He eradicates doubt from his mind and experiences the same one God within himself and everywhere. ||11||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਭਰਮ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੧॥
ਵਿਣੁ ਵਜਾਈ ਕਿੰਗੁਰੀ ਵਾਜੈ ਜੋਗੀ ਸਾ ਕਿੰਗੁਰੀ ਵਜਾਇ ॥
vin vajaa-ee kinguree vaajai jogee saa kinguree vajaa-ay.
O’ yogi, play that harp which rings within the mind without playing.
ਹੇ ਜੋਗੀ! ਜੋ ਵੀਣਾ (ਅੰਤਰ ਆਤਮੇ) ਬਿਨਾ ਵਜਾਇਆਂ ਵੱਜਦੀ ਹੈ। ਤੂੰ ਉਹ ਵੀਣਾ ਵਜਾਇਆ ਕਰ l
ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਜੋਗੀ ਸਾਚੇ ਰਹਹਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧੨॥੧॥੧੦॥
kahai naanak mukat hoveh jogee saachay raheh samaa-ay. ||12||1||10||
Nanak says! O’ yogi, you will be liberated from the vices and will remain merged in the eternal God. ||12||1||10||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਜੋਗੀ! ਤੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਕਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਹਿਂਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹੇਂਗਾ ॥੧੨॥੧॥੧੦॥

Raag Raamkalee, Third Guru:
ਭਗਤਿ ਖਜਾਨਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਬੂਝਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥੧॥
bhagat khajaanaa gurmukh jaataa satgur boojh bujhaa-ee. ||1||
Only Guru’s follower has understood the worth of the treasure of God’s devotional worship; the true Guru has blessed him with this understanding. ||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਸਮਝੀ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸੰਤਹੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੇਇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
santahu gurmukh day-ay vadi-aa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O Saints, God bestows honor to the Guru’s follower.||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਚਿ ਰਹਹੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਹਜੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਉਪਜੈ ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਜਾਈ ॥੨॥
sach rahhu sadaa sahj sukh upjai kaam kroDh vichahu jaa-ee. ||2||
Those who remain attuned to the eternal God, poise and celestial peace wells up within them; their lust and anger are eliminated from within. ||2||
ਜਿਹਡੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਸੁਖ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ; ਉਹਨਾ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਆਪੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਨਾਮ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਈ ॥੩॥
aap chhod naam liv laagee mamtaa sabad jalaa-ee. ||3||
Those who eradicate their ego and attune to God, they burn away their love for worldly attachments through the Guru’s divine word. ||3||
ਜਿਹਡੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਲਗਨ ਲਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਹ ਮੈਂ-ਮੇਰੀ ਦੀ ਆਦਤ ਸਾੜ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਉਪਜੈ ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਅੰਤੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਖਾਈ ॥੪॥
jis tay upjai tis tay binsai antay naam sakhaa-ee. ||4||
The human beings are created and destroyed by the same God; in the end, God’s Name alone becomes the companion. ||4||
ਜੀਵ ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸੇ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੀ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਅਖ਼ੀਰ ਸਮੇ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸਾਥੀ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰਿ ਦੂਰਿ ਨਹ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਰਚਨਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਰਚਾਈ ॥੫॥
sadaa hajoor door nah daykhhu rachnaa jin rachaa-ee. ||5||
God who created this creation is always close by, do not deem Him far. ||5||
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਦੀ ਖੇਡ ਬਣਾਈ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ-ਨਾਜ਼ਰ ਵੇਖੋ, ਇਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਲਾਂਭੇ ਦੂਰ ਨਾਹ ਸਮਝੋ ॥੫॥
ਸਚਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਰਵੈ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਚੇ ਸਿਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥੬॥
sachaa sabad ravai ghat antar sachay si-o liv laa-ee. ||6||
By attuning to the eternal God, the divine word of His praises remains enshrined within the heart. ||6|
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਲਗਨ ਲਾਨ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰਮੋਲਕੁ ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਈ ॥੭॥
satsangat meh naam nirmolak vadai bhaag paa-i-aa jaa-ee. ||7||
It is only by great good fortune that the invaluable Name of God is attained in the company of saintly persons. ||7||
ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਅਮੋਲਕ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
ਭਰਮਿ ਨ ਭੂਲਹੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਇਕ ਠਾਈ ॥੮॥
bharam na bhoolahu satgur sayvhu man raakho ik thaa-ee. ||8||
Do not be deluded by doubt; follow the true Guru’s teachings and keep your mind steady in one place, the immaculate Name of God. ||8||
ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਨਾਹ ਪਏ ਰਹੋ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰ ਮੱਲੀ ਰੱਖੋ, (ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ) ਇੱਕੋ ਥਾਂ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖੋ ॥੮॥
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸਭ ਭੂਲੀ ਫਿਰਦੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਈ ॥੯॥
bin naavai sabh bhoolee firdee birthaa janam gavaa-ee. ||9||
Without remembering God’s Name, everyone is wandering in doubt and are wasting their life in vain. ||9||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਸਾਰੀ ਲੁਕਾਈ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਗਵਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੯॥
ਜੋਗੀ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਗਵਾਈ ਹੰਢੈ ਪਾਖੰਡਿ ਜੋਗੁ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥੧੦॥
jogee jugat gavaa-ee handhai pakhand jog na paa-ee. ||10||
O’ yogi, having lost the true way of yoga (union with God), you are wandering around; yoga cannot be achieved through hypocrisy. ||10||
ਹੇ ਜੋਗੀ! ਜੋਗ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਮਿਲਾਪ ) ਦੀ ਜੁਗਤੀ ਗਵਾ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ; ਪਖੰਡ ਨਾਲ ਜੋਗ ਹਾਸਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ॥੧੦॥
ਸਿਵ ਨਗਰੀ ਮਹਿ ਆਸਣਿ ਬੈਸੈ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਜੋਗੁ ਪਾਈ ॥੧੧॥
siv nagree meh aasan baisai gur sabdee jog paa-ee. ||11||
One who joins the holy congregation, he attains union with God by attuning to the Guru’s word. ||11||
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠਦਾ ਹੈ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਜੋਗ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਮਿਲਾਪ ) ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੧॥
ਧਾਤੁਰ ਬਾਜੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਈ ॥੧੨॥
Dhaatur baajee sabad nivaaray naam vasai man aa-ee. ||12||
One in whose mind God manifests, through the Guru’s word he ends the game of wandering after worldly riches and power. ||12||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਭਟਕਣ ਦੀ ਖੇਡ ਮੁਕਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੨॥
ਏਹੁ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਸਰਵਰੁ ਹੈ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ਕਰੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥੧੩॥
ayhu sareer sarvar hai santahu isnaan karay liv laa-ee. ||13||
O’ saints, this body is like a pool of the nectar of God’s Name, one who attunes his mind to God’s Name is bathing in it. ||13|| .
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਮਾਨੋ ਇਕ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਤਲਾਬ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ, ਇਸ ਤਲਾਬ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੩॥
ਨਾਮਿ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸਬਦੇ ਮੈਲੁ ਗਵਾਈ ॥੧੪॥
naam isnaan karahi say jan nirmal sabday mail gavaa-ee. ||14||
Those who bathe in the nectar of God’s Name, are the most immaculate people; through the Guru’s word, they have washed off the filth of vices. ||14||
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ) ਮੈਲ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲਈ ਹੈ ॥੧੪॥
ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਅਚੇਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਚੇਤਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੧੫॥
tarai gun achayt naam cheeteh naahee bin naavai binas jaa-ee. ||15||
Engrossed in the three modes of Maya, people do not remember God’s Name; without Naam, they spiritually deteriorate. ||15||
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਗ਼ਾਫ਼ਿਲ, ਜੀਵ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਯਾਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ, ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੫॥
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਮਹੇਸੁ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਗੁਣਿ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਈ ॥੧੬॥
barahmaa bisan mahays tarai moorat tarigun bharam bhulaa-ee. ||16||
Even the angels like Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, all three are lost in the illusion of the three modes of Maya (vice, virtue and power). ||16||
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਵਿਸ਼ਨੂੰ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਕੜੀ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਭੁੱਲੀ ਫਿਰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧੬॥
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਕੁਟੀ ਛੂਟੈ ਚਉਥੈ ਪਦਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥੧੭॥
gur parsaadee tarikutee chhootai cha-uthai pad liv laa-ee. ||17||
By the Guru’s Grace, one who rises above the three modes of Maya, attains the fourth state, which is the supreme spiritual status and attunes to God. ||17||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਤੋਂ ਖਲਾਸੀ ਪਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਚੌਥੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੭॥
ਪੰਡਿਤ ਪੜਹਿ ਪੜਿ ਵਾਦੁ ਵਖਾਣਹਿ ਤਿੰਨਾ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥੧੮॥
pandit parheh parh vaad vakaaneh tinnaa boojh na paa-ee. ||18||
The pundits study the scriptures, and read to people about the arguments in the scriptures, but they themselves don’t undestand the higher spiritual state. ||18||
ਪੰਡਿਤ ਲੋਕ (ਪੁਰਾਣ ਆਦਿਕ ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ) ਪੜ੍ਹਦੇ ਹਨ, ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ (ਸ੍ਰੋਤਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਆਦਿਕ ਦਾ ਪਰਸਪਰ) ਲੜਾਈ-ਝਗੜਾ ਸੁਣਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ ॥੧੮॥
ਬਿਖਿਆ ਮਾਤੇ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਏ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਕਹਹਿ ਕਿਸੁ ਭਾਈ ॥੧੯॥
bikhi-aa maatay bharam bhulaa-ay updays kaheh kis bhaa-ee. ||19||
O’ brother, engrossed in the love for Maya, they wander in doubt; who can they possibly teach about righteousness? ||19||
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਹੋਏ (ਉਹ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਲੋਕ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ (ਆਪ) ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਫਿਰ ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ? ॥੧੯॥
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਊਤਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਰਹੀ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੨੦॥
bhagat janaa kee ootam banee jug jug rahee samaa-ee. ||20||
The word of the devotees of God is the most sublime and exalted; it prevails throughout the ages and remains effective forever. ||20||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਭਗਤਾ ਦਾ ਬੋਲ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਬੋਲ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੁਗ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨੦॥
ਬਾਣੀ ਲਾਗੈ ਸੋ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਏ ਸਬਦੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੨੧॥
banee laagai so gat paa-ay sabday sach samaa-ee. ||21||
One who attunes to the Guru’s divine word attains the supreme spiritual status; through the Guru’s word he remains merged in the eternal God. ||21||
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ) ਬਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ; ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨੧॥
