ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ਸੋਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਮਹਲੁ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
jin kee-aa so-ee parabh jaanai har kaa mahal apaaraa.
O’ my friend, God who has created the universe knows about it and His abode is beyond reach.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ (ਇਹ ਖੇਲ) ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ (ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਚਲਾਣਾ) ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ (ਜੀਵ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ)।
ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸੁ ਤੁਮਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੧॥
bhagat karee har kay gun gaavaa naanak daas tumaaraa. ||4||1||
O’ Nanak, pray: O’ God, I am Your devotee, please bless me that I may always worship You and may keep singing Your praises. ||4||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ ਹਾਂ (ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ ॥੪॥੧॥

Raag Raamkalee, Fifth Guru:
ਪਵਹੁ ਚਰਣਾ ਤਲਿ ਊਪਰਿ ਆਵਹੁ ਐਸੀ ਸੇਵ ਕਮਾਵਹੁ ॥
pavahu charnaa tal oopar aavhu aisee sayv kamaavahu.
O’ my friends, perform such a humble service of all as if you are the dust under everyone’s feet and this way you will lead a high spiritual life.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਹੇਠ ਪਏ ਰਹੋ। ਜੇ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਕਰੋਗੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉੱਚੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣ ਜਾਉਗੇ।
ਆਪਸ ਤੇ ਊਪਰਿ ਸਭ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਤਉ ਦਰਗਹ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ॥੧॥
aapas tay oopar sabh jaanhu ta-o dargeh sukh paavhu. ||1||
When you consider everyone else as better than you, then you will lead a humble life and will find inner peace in His divine presence.
ਜਦੋਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਚੰਗੇ ਸਮਝਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਵੋਗੇ, ਤਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣੋਗੇ ॥੧॥
ਸੰਤਹੁ ਐਸੀ ਕਥਹੁ ਕਹਾਣੀ ॥
santahu aisee kathahu kahaanee.
O’ dear saints, please keep reciting such praises of God;
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੋ,
ਸੁਰ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਰ ਦੇਵ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਖਿਨੁ ਬੋਲਹੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬਾਣੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sur pavitar nar dayv pavitaraa khin bolhu gurmukh banee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
always recite the Guru’s divine word, listening to which the human beings, angels and gods become immaculate. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਉਚਾਰਦੇ ਰਹੋ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਭ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਪਰਪੰਚੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਸਹਜ ਘਰਿ ਬੈਸਹੁ ਝੂਠਾ ਕਹਹੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
parpanch chhod sahj ghar baishu jhoothaa kahhu na ko-ee.
O’ my friends, renounce your attachments to the worldly possessions, live in a state of poise and do not call anyone false.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਭੈੜਾ ਨਾਹ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਰੋ, (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹੋ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਨਵੈ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਤਤੁ ਬਿਲੋਈ ॥੨॥
satgur milhu navai niDh paavhu in biDh tat bilo-ee. ||2||
Meet with the true Guru and follow his teachings; in that way you shall find the essence of reality and feel as if you have received all the worldly treasures. ||2||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਰਹੋ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਲੱਭ ਕੇ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਵੋਗੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਵੋਗੇ। ਬੇ-ਮੁਥਾਜ ਹੋ ਜਾਉਗੇ) ॥੨॥
ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਵਹੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਵਹੁ ਆਤਮੁ ਚੀਨਹੁ ਭਾਈ ॥
bharam chukaavahu gurmukh liv laavhu aatam cheenahu bhaa-ee.
O’ brother, following the Guru teachings, remove all your misconceptions, attune yourself to the love of God, and reflect upon yourself.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਜੋੜੋ, (ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰੋ, ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਦੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਕਰੋ (ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਪੜਤਾਲਦੇ ਰਹੋ)।
ਨਿਕਟਿ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹਾਜਰੁ ਕਿਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਕਰਹੁ ਬੁਰਾਈ ॥੩॥
nikat kar jaanhu sadaa parabh haajar kis si-o karahu buraa-ee. ||3||
Always deem God to be near and present in front of you; consequently, you would not think of harming anybody. ||3||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਸਮਝੋ, (ਫਿਰ) ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਭੀ ਕੋਈ ਭੈੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕੋਗੇ (ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ) ॥੩॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਸਹਜੇ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
satgur mili-ai maarag muktaa sehjay milay su-aamee.
O’ my friends, when we meet the true Guru and follow his teachings, we achieve freedom from vices and attain spiritual poise leading to realization of our Master.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ, ਤਾਂ (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ) ਰਸਤਾ ਖੁਲ੍ਹਾ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਰੁਕਾਵਟਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸੁਤੰਤਰ) ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਸ) ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਜਿਨੀ ਕਲਿ ਮਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੀ ॥੪॥੨॥
Dhan Dhan say jan jinee kal meh har paa-i-aa jan naanak sad kurbaanee. ||4||2||
O’ Nanak, those people, who in this dark age of KalYug have realized God, are very blessed and I am always dedicated to them. ||4||2||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ। ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੪॥੨॥

ਆਵਤ ਹਰਖ ਨ ਜਾਵਤ ਦੂਖਾ ਨਹ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਮਨ ਰੋਗਨੀ ॥
aavat harakh na jaavat dookhaa nah bi-aapai man rognee.
O’ my friends, now I neither feel elated when I obtain the worldly wealth, nor feel depressed when I lose it; and the mental stress also does not afflict me.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਹੁਣ ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਾਇਕ ਲਾਭ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਂਦੀ, ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ ਤਾਂ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਾਪਰਦਾ, ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਦਬਾਉ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਤਉ ਉਤਰੀ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਓਗਨੀ ॥੧॥
sadaa anand gur pooraa paa-i-aa ta-o utree sagal bi-oganee. ||1||
Ever since I have met with the perfect Guru, I remain in a state of bliss and now my separation from God has totally disappeared. ||1||
ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਾਰੀ ਵਿੱਥ ਮੁੱਕ ਚੁਕੀ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਹੈ ਮਨੁ ਜੋਗਨੀ ॥
ih biDh hai man jognee.
My mind is so united with God,
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰਾ) ਮਨ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਜੁੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ,
ਮੋਹੁ ਸੋਗੁ ਰੋਗੁ ਲੋਗੁ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਤਹ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਭੋਗਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
moh sog rog log na bi-aapai tah har har har ras bhognee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
that now no malady of worldly attachments or sorrow can afflict it, and it enjoys the bliss of union with God. ||1||Pause||
ਕਿ ਇਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਮੋਹ, ਗ਼ਮ, ਰੋਗ, ਲੋਕ-ਲਾਜ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਇਸ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ (ਇਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸੁਰਗ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਮਿਰਤ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਪਇਆਲ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਅਲੋਗਨੀ ॥
surag pavitaraa mirat pavitaraa pa-i-aal pavitar aloganee.
Now, whether it is heaven, this world, or the nether region, all appear equally sanctified to me, and I remain detached from other people of the world.
ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰੇ ਇਸ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ) ਸੁਰਗ, ਮਾਤ-ਲੋਕ, ਪਾਤਾਲ (ਇਕੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਹੀ) ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਸ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਕੋਈ ਲੋਕ-ਲਾਜ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੋਂਹਦੀ।
ਆਗਿਆਕਾਰੀ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਭੁੰਚੈ ਜਤ ਕਤ ਪੇਖਉ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨੀ ॥੨॥
aagi-aakaaree sadaa sukh bhunchai jat kat paykha-o har gunee. ||2||
In obedience to the Guru’s teachings, I am always at inner peace; now wherever I look, I see God, the master of all virtues. ||2|
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ) ਆਗਿਆ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ (ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ) ਸਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਜਿਧਰ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਉਧਰ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਨਹ ਸਿਵ ਸਕਤੀ ਜਲੁ ਨਹੀ ਪਵਨਾ ਤਹ ਅਕਾਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਮੇਦਨੀ ॥
nah siv saktee jal nahee pavnaa tah akaar nahee maydnee.
O’ my friends, when one is attuned to God, he is oblivious to all worldly powers, air, water, or any other form or matter on this earth.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਹੁਣ ਇਸ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਰਿੱਧੀਆਂ ਸਿੱਧੀਆਂ, ਤੀਰਥ-ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ, ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਯਾਮ, ਸੰਸਾਰਕ ਰੂਪ, ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਟਿਕ ਸਕਦੇ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਜੋਗ ਕਾ ਤਹਾ ਨਿਵਾਸਾ ਜਹ ਅਵਿਗਤ ਨਾਥੁ ਅਗਮ ਧਨੀ ॥੩॥
satgur jog kaa tahaa nivaasaa jah avigat naath agam Dhanee. ||3||
Now, I have realized union with my true Guru in my heart where the eternal God, the incomprehensible Master also resides. ||3||
ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰੇ ਇਸ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਮਾਲਕ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਭੀ ਉਥੇ ਹੀ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਦਿੱਸ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਧਨੁ ਸਭੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਹਉ ਕਿਆ ਗਨੀ ॥
tan man har kaa Dhan sabh har kaa har kay gun ha-o ki-aa ganee.
Now I realize that my body, mind, wealth and everything belong to God, the benefactor; I wonder which of His glorious virtues I may describe.
(ਹੁਣ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਆ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ, ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ, ਇਹ ਧਨ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ (ਉਹ ਬੜਾ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿੰਦ ਹੈ) ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੇਹੜੇ ਕੇਹੜੇ ਗੁਣ ਬਿਆਨ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਮ ਤੁਮ ਗੁਰਿ ਖੋਈ ਹੈ ਅੰਭੈ ਅੰਭੁ ਮਿਲੋਗਨੀ ॥੪॥੩॥
kaho naanak ham tum gur kho-ee hai ambhai ambh miloganee. ||4||3||
O’ Nanak, the Guru has obliterated all my sense of mine and yours; and now I am merged with God like water inseparably mixes with water. ||4||3||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਮੇਰ-ਤੇਰ ਮੁਕਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ਮੈਂ ਹੁਣ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਇਉਂ ਮਿਲ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਣੀ ॥੪॥੩॥

ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਰਹਤ ਰਹੈ ਨਿਰਾਰੀ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਸਿਧ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
tarai gun rahat rahai niraaree saaDhik siDh na jaanai.
This precious wealth of Naam remains un-influenced by the three modes of Maya (vice, virtue, and power), even the seekers and the adepts do not know this.
ਉਹ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਵੱਖਰਾ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਜੋਗ-ਸਾਧਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਧਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪੁੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਜੋਗੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਭੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਂਦਾ (ਭਾਵ, ਜੋਗ-ਸਾਧਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਹ ਨਾਮ-ਵਸਤੂ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ)।
ਰਤਨ ਕੋਠੜੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸੰਪੂਰਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਖਜਾਨੈ ॥੧॥
ratan koth-rhee amrit sampooran satgur kai khajaanai. ||1||
O’ my friends, that precious wealth of Naam is in the treasury of the true Guru, it is like the ambrosial nectar. ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਹੈ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਣ-ਰਤਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਨਕਾ-ਨਕ ਭਰੀ ਹੋਈ ਹਿਰਦਾ-ਕੋਠੜੀ ॥੧॥
ਅਚਰਜੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
achraj kichh kahan na jaa-ee.
This God’s worldly play is so amazing that it is impossible to describe it,
! ਇਕ ਅਨੋਖਾ ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਾਬਤ ਕੁਝ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਬਸਤੁ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਭਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
basat agochar bhaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
because this wealth of Naam is incomprehensible. ||1||Pause||
(ਅਨੋਖਾ ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਇਕ) ਕੀਮਤੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਤਕ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮੋਲੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਛੁ ਕਰਣੈ ਜੋਗਾ ਕਿਆ ਕੋ ਕਹੈ ਸੁਣਾਵੈ ॥
mol naahee kachh karnai jogaa ki-aa ko kahai sunaavai.
No human being can put a price on this commodity (Naam); what can anyone say about it?
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਨਾਮ-ਵਸਤੂ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਜੀਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਜੀਵ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਕਹਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ, ਦੱਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਕਥਨ ਕਹਣ ਕਉ ਸੋਝੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਜੋ ਪੇਖੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਣਿ ਆਵੈ ॥੨॥
kathan kahan ka-o sojhee naahee jo paykhai tis ban aavai. ||2||
No one has the intellect to describe the virtues of Naam; only when a person sees and personally experiences it, that he realizes its bliss. ||2||
(ਉਸ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਾਂ) ਦੱਸਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਭੀ ਅਕਲ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੀ। ਹਾਂ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਵਸਤ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਸੋਈ ਜਾਣੈ ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿਆ ਬੇਚਾਰਾ ॥
so-ee jaanai karnaihaaraa keetaa ki-aa baychaaraa.
O’ my friends, only the Creator knows the worth of His Name; no human being created by Him can comprehend this mystery.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਜੀਵ ਵਿਚ ਅਜੇਹੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਆਪਣੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਆਪੇ ਜਾਣੈ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਪੂਰ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥੩॥
aapnee gat mit aapay jaanai har aapay poor bhandaaraa. ||3||
God Himself knows His own state and extent, and He Himself is the treasures full of Naam. ||3||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ। ਤੇ, ਉਹ ਆਪ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਕੇਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ-ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਐਸਾ ਰਸੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਮਨਿ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਰਹੇ ਆਘਾਈ ॥
aisaa ras amrit man chaakhi-aa taripat rahay aaghaa-ee.
I have tasted such immaculate ambrosial nectar of God’s Name, and now my mind is fully satiated.
ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਉਸ ਅਸਚਰਜ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਨੂੰ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਚੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਲੋਂ) ਪੂਰੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਰੱਜ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਸਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੪॥੪॥
kaho naanak mayree aasaa pooree satgur kee sarnaa-ee. ||4||4||
Nanak says, by following the Guru’s teachings, all my mind’s desires have been fulfilled. ||4||4||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਲਾਲਸਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਮਿਲ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ) ॥੪॥੪॥
