ਛਿਅ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਇ ॥੪॥੫॥
chhi-a darsan kee sojhee paa-ay. ||4||5||
In this way, a yogi attains the wisdom of the six philosophies of Yoga. ||4||5||
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਵਿਰਕਤ ਨੂੰ ਛੇ ਹੀ ਭੇਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੫॥

Raag Raamkalee, First Guru:
ਹਮ ਡੋਲਤ ਬੇੜੀ ਪਾਪ ਭਰੀ ਹੈ ਪਵਣੁ ਲਗੈ ਮਤੁ ਜਾਈ ॥
ham dolat bayrhee paap bharee hai pavan lagai mat jaa-ee.
O’ God, the boat (of my life) is full of stone-like sins, and I am trembling in fear, lest the strong winds of worldly allurements should capsize this boat in the worldly ocean.
(ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ!) ਮੇਰੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀ ਬੇੜੀ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਝੱਖੜ ਝੁੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਡਰ ਲੱਗ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਿਤੇ (ਮੇਰੀ ਬੇੜੀ) ਡੁੱਬ ਨ ਜਾਏ।
ਸਨਮੁਖ ਸਿਧ ਭੇਟਣ ਕਉ ਆਏ ਨਿਹਚਉ ਦੇਹਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੧॥
sanmukh siDh bhaytan ka-o aa-ay nihcha-o deh vadi-aa-ee. ||1||
O’ God, whether I am good or bad, removing all inhibitions I have come to Your refuge. Please bless me with Your glorious greatness to sing Your praises. ||1||
(ਚੰਗਾ ਹਾਂ ਮੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਮੈਂ ਝਾਕਾ ਲਾਹ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਦੇਹ ॥੧॥
ਗੁਰ ਤਾਰਿ ਤਾਰਣਹਾਰਿਆ ॥
gur taar taaranhaari-aa.
O’ Guru, the emancipator, please ferry me across the world-ocean of vices.
(ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਤਾਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈ।
ਦੇਹਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਅਵਿਨਾਸੀ ਹਉ ਤੁਝ ਕਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
deh bhagat pooran avinaasee ha-o tujh ka-o balihaari-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ the perfect, imperishable God, bless me with Your devotion; I am dedicated to You. ||1||Pause||
ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ (ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦੇਹ। ਮੈਂ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਜੋਗੀ ਅਰੁ ਜੰਗਮ ਏਕੁ ਸਿਧੁ ਜਿਨੀ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
siDh saaDhik jogee ar jangam ayk siDh jinee Dhi-aa-i-aa.
They are the true seekers, ascetics, wandering pilgrims (the holy persons), who meditate on the One God.
ਉਹੀ ਹਨ ਅਸਲ ਸਿੱਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਜੋਗੀ ਤੇ ਜੰਗਮ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਇੱਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪਰਸਤ ਪੈਰ ਸਿਝਤ ਤੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅਖਰੁ ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਆਇਆ ॥੨॥
parsat pair sijhat tay su-aamee akhar jin ka-o aa-i-aa. ||2||
They, who humbly accept the Guru’s message, receive the divine word and are emancipated.
ਜੋ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੂਹ ਕੇ ਮੁਕਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਪ ਤਪ ਸੰਜਮ ਕਰਮ ਨ ਜਾਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
jap tap sanjam karam na jaanaa naam japee parabh tayraa.
O’ God, I do not recognize any worship, penance, austerities or other religious rituals, I only meditate on Your Name.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਜਨਮਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂਤਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਨਿਬੇੜਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਜਪ ਤਪ ਸੰਜਮ ਆਦਿਕ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਕਰਮ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ। ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਗੁਰੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਿਬੇਰਾ ॥੩॥੬॥
gur parmaysar naanak bhayti-o saachai sabad nibayraa. ||3||6||
Nanak has met his Guru, God; and is emancipated through the true divine word. ||3||6||
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੂ-ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੁਕਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

Raag Raamkalee, First Guru:
ਸੁਰਤੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਰਲਾਈਐ ਏਤੁ ॥
surtee surat ralaa-ee-ai ayt.
O’ human being, we should focus our consciousness in meditation on God.
ਇਸ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ) ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਤਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਤੁਲਹਾ ਲੰਘਹਿ ਜੇਤੁ ॥
tan kar tulhaa langheh jayt.
Make our body a raft to cross over the world-ocean of vices.
ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਕੇ ਹੌਲਾ-ਫੁੱਲ ਕਰ ਲੈ, ਅਜੇਹੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ) ਤੁਲਹਾ ਬਣਾ, ਜਿਸ (ਸਰੀਰ) ਦੀ ਸਹੈਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਤੂੰ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਸਕੇਂਗਾ।
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਭਾਹਿ ਤਿਸੈ ਤੂ ਰਖੁ ॥
antar bhaahi tisai too rakh.
Deep within you is the fire of worldly desires; you should keep it in check.
ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਖਾਹਿਸ਼ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਹੈ। ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ
ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਦੀਵਾ ਬਲੈ ਅਥਕੁ ॥੧॥
ahinis deevaa balai athak. ||1||
Then, the lamp of divine knowledge within you shall keep burning uninterrupted, day and night. ||1||
(ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ (ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ) ਦੀਵਾ ਬਲਦਾ ਰਹੇਗਾ ॥੧॥
ਐਸਾ ਦੀਵਾ ਨੀਰਿ ਤਰਾਇ ॥
aisaa deevaa neer taraa-ay.
O’ brother, float such a lamp of divine knowledge in the river of your life,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਤੂੰ ਪਾਣੀ ਉਤੇ ਇਹੋ ਜੇਹਾ ਦੀਵਾ ਤਾਰ,
ਜਿਤੁ ਦੀਵੈ ਸਭ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jit deevai sabh sojhee paa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
with that lamp you may acquire the wisdom to successfully complete your spiritual journey. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ ਦੀਵੇ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਜਿਸ ਦੀਵੇ ਦੇ ਚਾਨਣ ਨਾਲ) ਤੈਨੂੰ ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਫ਼ਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਗੁੰਝਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਪੈ ਜਾਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹਛੀ ਮਿਟੀ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਇ ॥
hachhee mitee sojhee ho-ay.
Let true understanding about God be the good clay for making the lamp.
(ਜੇ ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਜੁਗਤਿ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਣ ਵਾਲੀ) ਸੁਚੱਜੀ ਅਕਲ ਦੀ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਹੋਵੇ,
ਤਾ ਕਾ ਕੀਆ ਮਾਨੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
taa kaa kee-aa maanai so-ay.
God accepts the lamp made of such clay.
ਉਸ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਦਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਦੀਵਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪਰਵਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਰਣੀ ਤੇ ਕਰਿ ਚਕਹੁ ਢਾਲਿ ॥
karnee tay kar chakahu dhaal.
So shape this lamp on the wheel of your good deeds.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਉੱਚੇ ਆਚਰਨ (ਦੀ ਲੱਕੜੀ) ਤੋਂ (ਚੱਕ) ਬਣਾ ਕੇ (ਉਸ) ਚੱਕ ਤੋਂ (ਦੀਵਾ) ਘੜ।
ਐਥੈ ਓਥੈ ਨਿਬਹੀ ਨਾਲਿ ॥੨॥
aithai othai nibhee naal. ||2||
Such a lamp of divine knowledge would serve you well both here and hereafter. ||2||
ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਇਹ ਦੀਵਾ ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਾਥ ਨਿਬਾਹੇਗਾ (ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਾਹਬਰੀ ਕਰੇਗਾ) ॥੨॥
ਆਪੇ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਜਾ ਸੋਇ ॥
aapay nadar karay jaa so-ay.
O’ my friend, it is only when God casts His glance of grace
ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
gurmukh virlaa boojhai ko-ay.
that a rare person who follows the Guru’s teachings, understands the concept of such a lamp.
ਤਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਇਸ ਦੀਵੇ ਦੇ ਭੇਤ ਨੂੰ) ਸਮਝ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਰਸਤੇ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਿਤੁ ਘਟਿ ਦੀਵਾ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
tit ghat deevaa nihchal ho-ay.
Within the heart of such a rare person, this lamp of divine knowledge is permanently lit.
ਅਜੇਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਇਹ ਆਤਮਕ) ਦੀਵਾ ਟਿਕਵਾਂ (ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਜਗਦਾ) ਹੈ।
ਪਾਣੀ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਬੁਝਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
paanee marai na bujhaa-i-aa jaa-ay.
This lamp neither sinks in water nor can it be extinguished by the winds of worldly allurements.
(ਇਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਚਾਨਣ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਦੀਵਾ ਨਾਹ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਦੀਵਾ ਬੁਝਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਐਸਾ ਦੀਵਾ ਨੀਰਿ ਤਰਾਇ ॥੩॥
aisaa deevaa neer taraa-ay. ||3||
Such a lamp will carry you across the river of life. ||3||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਤੂੰ ਭੀ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਦੀਵਾ (ਰੋਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਨਦੀ ਦੇ) ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਤਾਰ ॥੩॥
ਡੋਲੈ ਵਾਉ ਨ ਵਡਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
dolai vaa-o na vadaa ho-ay.
Winds of worldly allurements will not shake it or put it out.
(ਕਿਤਨਾ ਹੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ) ਝੱਖੜ ਝੁੱਲੇ, ਇਹ (ਆਤਮਕ ਚਾਨਣ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਦੀਵਾ) ਡੋਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਇਹ (ਆਤਮਕ ਦੀਵਾ) ਬੁੱਝਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਜਾਪੈ ਜਿਉ ਸਿੰਘਾਸਣਿ ਲੋਇ ॥
jaapai ji-o singhaasan lo-ay.
The light of such a lamp reveals the divine throne in the heart.
(ਇਸ ਦੀਵੇ ਦੇ) (ਚਾਨਣ ਨਾਲ) ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਤਖ਼ਤ ਉਤੇ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਦਿੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਖਤ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣੁ ਸੂਦੁ ਕਿ ਵੈਸੁ ॥
khatree baraahman sood ke vais.
Whether one be a Khattri (warrior), Brahmin (priest), Shudra (menial servant), or a Vaaish (businessman);
ਕੋਈ ਖਤ੍ਰੀ ਹੋਵੇ, ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਹੋਵੇ, ਸ਼ੂਦਰ ਹੋਵੇ, ਚਾਹੇ ਵੈਸ਼ ਹੋਵੇ,
ਨਿਰਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਈਆ ਗਣੀ ਸਹੰਸ ॥
nirat na paa-ee-aa ganee sahaNs.
no one can establish its worth, even by thousands of calculations.
ਨਿਰੇ ਇਹ ਚਾਰੇ ਵਰਨ ਨਹੀਂ) ਮੈਂ ਜੇ ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਹੀ ਜਾਤੀਆਂ ਗਿਣੀ ਜਾਵਾਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਦਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਨਾਹ ਸਕੇ-
ਐਸਾ ਦੀਵਾ ਬਾਲੇ ਕੋਇ ॥
aisaa deevaa baalay ko-ay.
If any of them does light such a lamp of divine knowledge,
(ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਰਨਾਂ ਜਾਤੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੰਮਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ) ਜੇਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਜੀਵ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ (ਆਤਮਕ ਚਾਨਣ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਦੀਵਾ ਜਗਾਏਗਾ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਪਾਰੰਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੭॥
naanak so paarangat ho-ay. ||4||7||
O’ Nanak, he would be liberated from the vices. ||4||7||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਅਜੇਹੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਇਗੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਸਹੀ-ਸਲਾਮਤ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਇਗਾ ॥੪॥੭॥

ਤੁਧਨੋ ਨਿਵਣੁ ਮੰਨਣੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
tuDhno nivan manan tayraa naa-o.
O’ God, to have faith in Your immaculate Name is to pay obeisance to You.
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਣੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਣਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਪਰਵਾਨ ਹੋਣੀ ਵਾਲੀ) ਭੇਟਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਾਚੁ ਭੇਟ ਬੈਸਣ ਕਉ ਥਾਉ ॥
saach bhayt baisan ka-o thaa-o.
The offerings of truth gets one a seat in Your presence.
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਰੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ) ਬੈਠਣ ਲਈ ਥਾਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥
sat santokh hovai ardaas.
O, my friend, when a person acquires the virtues of truth and contentment, and offers his prayer to God,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਧਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਇਸ ਜੀਵਨ-ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਦਰ ਤੇ) ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਾ ਸੁਣਿ ਸਦਿ ਬਹਾਲੇ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੧॥
taa sun sad bahaalay paas. ||1||
then God listens to his prayer, and the person feels His presence beside him.
ਤਦੋਂ (ਅਰਦਾਸ) ਸੁਣ ਕੇ (ਸਵਾਲੀ ਨੂੰ) ਸੱਦ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੋਲ ਬਿਠਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
naanak birthaa ko-ay na ho-ay.
O’ Nanak, no one comes back empty handed from there;
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਕੇ) ਕੋਈ (ਸਵਾਲੀ) ਖ਼ਾਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੁੜਦਾ;
ਐਸੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਅਜੇਹੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਭੀ ਅਜੇਹਾ ਹੈ (ਜੋ ਸਭ ਦੀਆਂ ਆਸਾਂ ਪੂਰਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤਿ ਪੋਤਾ ਕਰਮੁ ਪਸਾਉ ॥
paraapat potaa karam pasaa-o.
O’ God, the one on whom You bestow Your grace and kindness, is blessed with the treasure of Your Name.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਹੋਵੇ ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰੇਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤੂ ਦੇਵਹਿ ਮੰਗਤ ਜਨ ਚਾਉ ॥
too dayveh mangat jan chaa-o.
O’ God, I also beg that You please bless me with Your Name.
ਮੈਂ ਮੰਗਤੇ ਦੀ ਭੀ ਇਹ ਤਾਂਘ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਦੇਵੇਂ (ਤਾ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ)।
ਭਾਡੈ ਭਾਉ ਪਵੈ ਤਿਤੁ ਆਇ ॥
bhaadai bhaa-o pavai tit aa-ay.
O’ God, only that person gets the blessings of Your love,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਧੁਰਿ ਤੈ ਛੋਡੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਇ ॥੨॥
Dhur tai chhodee keemat paa-ay. ||2||
in which You Yourself have predetermined its value. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਜਿਨਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਆ ਸੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੈ ॥
jin kichh kee-aa so kichh karai.
O’ my friend, He who has created this worldly creation, also does everything else.
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਕੁਝ ਰਚਿਆਹ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਪਨੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਆਪੇ ਧਰੈ ॥
apnee keemat aapay Dharai.
He Himself makes us realize the worth of Naam in our hearts.
ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਭੀ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਟਿਕਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ॥
gurmukh pargat ho-aa har raa-ay.
God manifests in one’s heart through the Guru’s teachings.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪਰਗਟ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾ ਕੋ ਆਵੈ ਨਾ ਕੋ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
naa ko aavai naa ko jaa-ay. ||3||
One then realizes that it is God, who manifests in every being; no one other then God really comes into this world or departs from here. ||3||
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ-ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਾਹ ਕੋਈ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਲੋਕੁ ਧਿਕਾਰੁ ਕਹੈ ਮੰਗਤ ਜਨ ਮਾਗਤ ਮਾਨੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
lok Dhikaar kahai mangat jan maagat maan na paa-i-aa.
People curse at the beggars; begging does not bring honor to a person.
ਮੰਗਤੇ ਨੂੰ ਜਗਤ ਫਿਟਕਾਰ ਹੀ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੰਗਦਿਆਂ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਕਰਦੀ।
ਸਹ ਕੀਆ ਗਲਾ ਦਰ ਕੀਆ ਬਾਤਾ ਤੈ ਤਾ ਕਹਣੁ ਕਹਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੮॥
sah kee-aa galaa dar kee-aa baataa tai taa kahan kahaa-i-aa. ||4||8||
O’ God, You inspire me to speak Your divine words, and about Your virtues. ||4||8||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਉਦਾਰ-ਚਿੱਤ ਹੋਣ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਰ ਦੀ ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਕਦੇ ਕੋਈ ਖ਼ਾਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਅਖਵਾਈਆਂ ਹਨ (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਦੇ ਸਵਾਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਭੀ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਮੂੰਹ-ਮੰਗੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਭੀ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ) ॥੪॥੮॥

ਸਾਗਰ ਮਹਿ ਬੂੰਦ ਬੂੰਦ ਮਹਿ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਕਵਣੁ ਬੁਝੈ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
saagar meh boond boond meh saagar kavan bujhai biDh jaanai.
O’ my friends, just as a drop of water is a part of the ocean and the ocean is manifest in the drop, similarly, God’s light is manifest in all and all creatures are the part of God; but only a rare one understands this concept.
(ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਬੂੰਦਾਂ ਹਨ (ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਬੂੰਦਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ (ਤਿਵੇਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਊਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ)। ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ ਭੇਤ ਨੂੰ ਬੁੱਝਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਵਿਓਂਤ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਉਤਭੁਜ ਚਲਤ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਿ ਚੀਨੈ ਆਪੇ ਤਤੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥੧॥
ut-bhuj chalat aap kar cheenai aapay tat pachhaanai. ||1||
God Himself knows the wonders of His creation, and also realizes its true essence. ||1||
ਚਾਰ ਖਾਣੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਤਪੱਤੀ ਦਾ ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ ਰਚ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਵੇਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
