ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸਨਾ ॥
jap man raam naam rasnaa.
O’ my mind, chant God’s Name with your tongue.
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ! ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ।
ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਖਤ ਲਿਖੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਬਸਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mastak likhat likhay gur paa-i-aa har hirdai har basnaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
One who is preordained, meets with the Guru and through the Guru’s teachings, he realizes God dwelling in his heart. ||1||Pause||.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਮੱਥੇ ਤੇ ਲਿਖੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਹੈਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮਾਇਆ ਗਿਰਸਤਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਤੁ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਰਖਿ ਲੇਵਹੁ ਜਨੁ ਅਪਨਾ ॥
maa-i-aa girsat bharmat hai paraanee rakh layvhu jan apnaa.
O’ God, human beings entangled in the grip of Maya, are wandering around; please save me, Your devotee, from the attachment to this Maya,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੀਵ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈ,
ਜਿਉ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦੁ ਹਰਣਾਖਸਿ ਗ੍ਰਸਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਨਾ ॥੨॥
ji-o par-hilaad harnaakhas garsi-o har raakhi-o har sarnaa. ||2||
just as You rescued Your devotee, Prahlaad, from the clutches of his father, Harnaakash, and kept him in Your refuge. ||2||.
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੂੰ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕੀਤੀ, ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਣਾਖਸ ਨੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਦਿੱਤੀ ॥੨॥
ਕਵਨ ਕਵਨ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਕਹੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਏ ਪਤਿਤ ਪਵੰਨਾ ॥
kavan kavan kee gat mit kahee-ai har kee-ay patit pavannaa.
O’ God, how may I describe the state and condition of the many sinners You have sanctified.
ਕਿੰਨਿਆਂ ਕੁ ਪਾਪੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਮੈਂ ਵਰਣਨ ਕਰਾਂ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਓਹੁ ਢੋਵੈ ਢੋਰ ਹਾਥਿ ਚਮੁ ਚਮਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਉਧਰਿਓ ਪਰਿਓ ਸਰਨਾ ॥੩॥
oh dhovai dhor haath cham chamray har uDhaari-o pari-o sarnaa. ||3||
Ravidaas, a cobbler, worked with hide and transported dead animals; but he sought God’s refuge and crossed over the world ocean of vices. ||3||
ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਮੋਏ ਹੋਏ ਪਸ਼ੂ ਢੋਂਦਾ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਨਿੱਤ ਚੰਮ ਫੜਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਉਸਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਰ ਗਿਆ ॥੩॥
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਭਗਤ ਭਵ ਤਾਰਨ ਹਮ ਪਾਪੀ ਰਾਖੁ ਪਪਨਾ ॥
parabh deen da-i-aal bhagat bhav taaran ham paapee raakh papnaa.
O merciful God of the meek, You support Your devotees swim across the world-ocean of vices; please save us sinners from committing sins.
ਹੇ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪਾਪੀ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਦਾਸਨ ਦਾਸ ਦਾਸ ਹਮ ਕਰੀਅਹੁ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਦਾਸੰਨਾ ॥੪॥੧॥
har daasan daas daas ham karee-ahu jan naanak daas daasannaa. ||4||1||
Nanak says: O’ God, I am a humble servant of Your devotees; please make us the servant of Your devotees. ||4||1||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਸਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਬਣਾ ਲੈ ॥੪॥੧॥

Raag Bilaaval, Fourth Guru:
ਹਮ ਮੂਰਖ ਮੁਗਧ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਮਤੀ ਸਰਣਾਗਤਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਜਨਮਾ ॥
ham moorakh mugaDh agi-aan matee sarnaagat purakh ajnamaa.
O’ God, You are all-pervading and beyond the cycle of birth and death; we are spiritually ignorant fools, but we have sought Your refuge.
ਹੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਬੜੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਹਾਂ, ਬੇ ਸਮਝ ਹਾਂ (ਪਰ) ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਹਾਂ।
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਰਖਿ ਲੇਵਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਹਮ ਪਾਥਰ ਹੀਨ ਅਕਰਮਾ ॥੧॥
kar kirpaa rakh layvhu mayray thaakur ham paathar heen akarmaa. ||1||
O’ my Master-God, we are stone hearted (uncompassionate), lowly and unfortunate; please bestow mercy and save us. ||1||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ! ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਸਾਡੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ, ਅਸੀਂ ਪੱਥਰ -ਦਿਲ) ਹਾਂ, ਅਸੀਂ ਨਿਮਾਣੇ ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਮੰਦ-ਭਾਗੀ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਭਜੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੈ ਰਾਮਾ ॥
mayray man bhaj raam naamai raamaa.
O’ my mind, lovingly remember the all-pervading God’s Name.
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ! ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ।
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਹੋਰਿ ਤਿਆਗਹੁ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਕਾਮਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gurmat har ras paa-ee-ai hor ti-aagahu nihfal kaamaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The bliss of God’s Name is received only by following the Guru’s teachings; therefore, we should renounce all other useless deeds or rituals. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ। ਛੱਡੋ ਹੋਰ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ, ਜਿਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਲਾਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਸੇਵਕ ਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਤਾਰੇ ਹਮ ਨਿਰਗੁਨ ਰਾਖੁ ਉਪਮਾ ॥
har jan sayvak say har taaray ham nirgun raakh upmaa.
O’ God, You ferry Your devotees across the world ocean of vices; we are unvirtuous, please save us; that would also be Your glory.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੇ (ਦਰ ਦੇ) ਸੇਵਕ ਬਣਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ। (ਪਰ) ਅਸੀਂ ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਨ ਹਾਂ, (ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਭੀ) ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ (ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ) ਸੋਭਾ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ।
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਵਡੇ ਕਰੰਮਾ ॥੨॥
tujh bin avar na ko-ee mayray thaakur har japee-ai vaday karammaa. ||2||
O’ my Master-God, except You there is none other who can save us; it is only by good fortune that one can meditate on God.||2||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ! ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਾਡਾ ਕੋਈ (ਮਦਦਗਾਰ) ਨਹੀਂ। ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਨਾਮਹੀਨ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਤੇ ਤਿਨ ਵਡ ਦੂਖ ਸਹੰਮਾ ॥
naamheen Dharig jeevtay tin vad dookh sahammaa.
Accursed is the life of those who live without meditating on God’s Name; they endure terrible pains and sorrows.
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਲਾਨ੍ਹਤ ਹੈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਜੀਊਣ ਨੂੰ; ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੜੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹਿਮ (ਚੰਬੜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ)।
ਓਇ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨਿ ਭਵਾਈਅਹਿ ਮੰਦਭਾਗੀ ਮੂੜ ਅਕਰਮਾ ॥੩॥
o-ay fir fir jon bhavaa-ee-ah mand-bhaagee moorh akarmaa. ||3||
Those unfortunate fools are evil doores, and are consigned to reincarnation over and over again. ||3||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਏ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਮੂਰਖ ਬੰਦੇ ਕਰਮਹੀਣ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮੰਦ-ਭਾਗੀ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਧੁਰਿ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖੇ ਵਡ ਕਰਮਾ ॥
har jan naam aDhaar hai Dhur poorab likhay vad karmaa.
Naam is the only support for God’s devotees; their good fortune is pre-ordained.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ। ਧੁਰ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਪੂਰਬਲੇ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਖੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ।
ਗੁਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਫਲੁ ਜਨੰਮਾ ॥੪॥੨॥
gur satgur naam drirh-aa-i-aa jan naanak safal jannamaa. ||4||2||
O’ Nanak, when the true Guru has firmly implanted God’s Name in a person, that person’s life becomes fruitful. ||4||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਮ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨॥

Raag Bilaaval, Fourth Guru:
ਹਮਰਾ ਚਿਤੁ ਲੁਭਤ ਮੋਹਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਬਹੁ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਭਰਾ ॥
hamraa chit lubhat mohi bikhi-aa baho durmat mail bharaa.
O’ God, our mind is enticed by the love of Maya, the worldly attachments; it is filled with the filth of evil intellect.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਖੋਟੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਨਾਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਭਰਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ;
ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਿ ਨ ਸਕਹ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹਮ ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਮੁਗਧ ਤਰਾ ॥੧॥
tumHree sayvaa kar na sakah parabh ham ki-o kar mugaDh taraa. ||1||
O’ God, we cannot perform Your devotional worship, so how may we, the foolish people cross the dreadful worldly ocean of vices? ||1||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸੀਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ। ਅਸੀਂ ਮੂਰਖ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘੀਏ? ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਜਪਿ ਨਰਹਰ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਰਹਰਾ ॥
mayray man jap narhar naam narharaa.
O’ my mind, always meditate on God’s Name with adoration.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ।
ਜਨ ਊਪਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਧਾਰੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jan oopar kirpaa parabh Dhaaree mil satgur paar paraa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The person on whom God has shown mercy has crossed over the worldly ocean of vices upon meeting the true Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹਮਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਮਤੀ ਜਸੁ ਕਰਾ ॥
hamray pitaa thaakur parabh su-aamee har dayh matee jas karaa.
O’ our Father, our Master-God, please bless us with such intellect that we may keep singing Your praises.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ! ਹੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਿਤਾ! ਹੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਸਾਨੂੰ (ਅਜੇਹੀ) ਸਮਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੀਏ।
ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਰੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਲਗੇ ਸੇ ਉਧਰੇ ਜਿਉ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਾਸਟ ਲੋਹ ਤਰਾ ॥੨॥
tumHrai sang lagay say uDhray ji-o sang kaasat loh taraa. ||2||
O’ God, those who are attuned to You swim across the word ocean of vices, just like a piece of iron attached to wood is carried across a body of water. ||2||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਾਠ ਨਾਲ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਲੋਹਾ ਨਦੀ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਸਾਕਤ ਨਰ ਹੋਛੀ ਮਤਿ ਮਧਿਮ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵ ਨ ਕਰਾ ॥
saakat nar hochhee mat maDhim jinH har har sayv na karaa.
Those who have never performed the devotional worship of God, are the faithless cynics of shallow and evil intellect.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਕਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਟੁੱਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਅਕਲ ਹੋਛੀ ਤੇ ਮਲੀਨ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਤੇ ਨਰ ਭਾਗਹੀਨ ਦੁਹਚਾਰੀ ਓਇ ਜਨਮਿ ਮੁਏ ਫਿਰਿ ਮਰਾ ॥੩॥
tay nar bhaagheen duhchaaree o-ay janam mu-ay fir maraa. ||3||
They are unfortunate and evil; they remain in the cycle of birth and death. ||3||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬਦ-ਕਿਸਮਤ ਹਨ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਮੰਦ-ਕਰਮੀ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੇ ਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਏ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਾ ॥
jin ka-o tumH har maylhu su-aamee tay nHaa-ay santokh gur saraa.
O’ Master-God, those who realize you, remain content in the Guru’s congregation, as if they always bathe in the Guru’s pool of contentment.
ਹੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਹ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਦੇ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ
ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਗਈ ਹਰਿ ਭਜਿਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰਾ ॥੪॥੩॥
durmat mail ga-ee har bhaji-aa jan naanak paar paraa. ||4||3||
O’ Nanak, those who meditate on God, the filth of their evil intellect is washed away and they swim across the worldly ocean of vices. ||4||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਖੋਟੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੩॥

Raag Bilaaval, Fourth Guru:
ਆਵਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਕਰਹੁ ॥
aavhu sant milhu mayray bhaa-ee mil har har kathaa karahu.
O’ my brotherly saints, come, sit together and sing God’s praises.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਹੇ ਭਰਾਵੋ! ਇਕੱਠੇ ਰਲ ਬੈਠੋ, ਅਤੇ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰੋ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਹੈ ਕਲਜੁਗਿ ਖੇਵਟੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਤਰਹੁ ॥੧॥
har har naam bohith hai kaljug khayvat gur sabad tarahu. ||1||
In this world full of misery, God’s Name is like a boat and the Guru is its captain; attune yourself to the Guru’s word and swim across the world-ocean of vices. ||1||
ਇਸ ਕਲਹ-ਭਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਇਸ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਦਾ) ਮਲਾਹ (ਹੈ, ਤੁਸੀ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘੋ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਹਰਿ ਉਚਰਹੁ ॥
mayray man har gun har uchrahu.
O’ my mind, always chant praises of God.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰ।
ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਖਤ ਲਿਖੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਏ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mastak likhat likhay gun gaa-ay mil sangat paar parahu. ||1|| rahaa-o.
One who is preordained, sings God’s praises; O’ my mind, cross over the world ocean of vices by singing God’s praises in the holy congregation. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਲਿਖੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਭਾਗ ਜਾਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ ਭੀ) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
