Siree Raag, by the Third Guru:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਫੇਰੁ ਨ ਪਵੈ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
satgur mili-ai fayr na pavai janam maran dukh jaa-ay.
Meeting with the Guru, one does not have to wander through (millions of species), and the pains of birth and death goes away.
ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੇਟਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ (ਚੌਰਾਸੀ ਲੱਖ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ) ਫੇਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ, ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਦੁਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪੂਰੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਭ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥
poorai sabad sabh sojhee ho-ee har naamai rahai samaa-ay. ||1||
Through the perfect word of the Guru, one obtains full understanding, and remains absorbed in God’s Name.
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆਂ ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥
man mayray satgur si-o chit laa-ay.
O’ my mind, focus your consciousness on the True Guru’s word.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਚਿੱਤ ਜੋੜ।
ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦ ਨਵਤਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
nirmal naam sad navtano aap vasai man aa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The Immaculate Naam itself, ever-fresh, comes to dwell within the mind.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਨਵੇਂ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਾਲਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਜਿਉ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਤਿਉ ਰਹਣਾ ॥
har jee-o raakho apunee sarnaa-ee ji-o raakhahi ti-o rahnaa.
O’ God, in whatever (spiritual) state You keep us, we have to remain in that state. Please keep us in Your Sanctuary.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! ਤੂੰ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਆਪਣੀ ਸਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖ, ਜਿਸ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਤੂੰ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਉਸੇ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਤਰਣਾ ॥੨॥
gur kai sabad jeevat marai gurmukh bhavjal tarnaa. ||2||
By following the Guru’s Word, a person completely erases his ego (dead while yet alive), and swims across the terrifying world ocean of vices.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਚਰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਹਟਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਨਾਉ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਈ ॥
vadai bhaag naa-o paa-ee-ai gurmat sabad suhaa-ee.
By great good fortune, Naam is obtained. Following the Guru’s Teachings, through his word, one’s life becomes beautiful.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਤੇ ਤੁਰਿਆਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆਂ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਆਪੇ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਹਜੇ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੩॥
aapay man vasi-aa parabh kartaa sehjay rahi-aa samaa-ee. ||3||
God, the Creator Himself, intuitively comes to dwells within the mind.
ਕਰਤਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਇਕਨਾ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਭਾਵੈ ਬੰਧਨਿ ਬੰਧਿ ਭਵਾਇਆ ॥
iknaa manmukh sabad na bhaavai banDhan banDh bhavaa-i-aa.
There are some self-willed people; to whom the Guru’s word is not pleasing. Bound in chains of Maya, they wander in cycle of birth and death.
ਕਈਆਂ ਆਪ-ਹੁਦਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ। ਉਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਵਿਚ ਜੂਨੀਆਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਧਕੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥੪॥
lakh cha-oraaseeh fir fir aavai birthaa janam gavaa-i-aa. ||4||
They repeatedly go through millions of births, and waste away their lives in vain.
ਉਹ ਚੌਰਾਸੀ ਲੱਖ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜੰਮਦੇ ਹਨ। ਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ (ਮਨੁੱਖਾ) ਜਨਮ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਗਵਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਭਗਤਾ ਮਨਿ ਆਨੰਦੁ ਹੈ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ॥
bhagtaa man aanand hai sachai sabad rang raatay.
In the minds of the devotees there is bliss; they are imbued with the Love of the Divine Word.
ਭਗਤਾਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਸਦ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸਹਜੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਤੇ ॥੫॥
an-din gun gaavahi sad nirmal sehjay naam samaatay. ||5||
They always sing praises of the immaculate God; and remain intuitively merged in His Name.
ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ) ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਸਭ ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੀ ॥
gurmukh amrit banee boleh sabh aatam raam pachhaanee.
Gurus Followers always utter the sweet words, they recognize God, the Supreme Soul in all.
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਚੇ ਸਿਖ, ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਮਈ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦਾ ਪਾਠ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੰਞਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਏਕੋ ਸੇਵਨਿ ਏਕੁ ਅਰਾਧਹਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਣੀ ॥੬॥
ayko sayvan ayk araaDheh gurmukh akath kahaanee. ||6||
They serve the One; they worship and adore the One. The Guru’s followers deliberate about God’s virtues which are beyond description.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਚੇ ਸਿਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਬਿਆਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੇ l
ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
sachaa saahib sayvee-ai gurmukh vasai man aa-ay.
We should lovingly meditate on the Eternal Master through the Guru’s word. They who does God comes to dwell in their hearts.
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਸਚ ਸਿਉ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੭॥
sadaa rang raatay sach si-o apunee kirpaa karay milaa-ay. ||7||
To those, who are forever imbued with His love, He bestows His Mercy and unites them with Himself.
ਜੋ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਨਿਛਾਵਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਅਭੇਦ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਪੇ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਏ ਆਪੇ ਇਕਨਾ ਸੁਤਿਆ ਦੇਇ ਜਗਾਇ ॥
aapay karay karaa-ay aapay iknaa suti-aa day-ay jagaa-ay.
He Himself does, and He Himself causes others to do; He wakes some from their sleep (of Maya).
ਆਪ ਉਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਕਰਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕਈਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਨੀਦਰੇ ਜਗਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੮॥੭॥੨੪॥
aapay mayl milaa-idaa naanak sabad samaa-ay. ||8||7||24||
O’ Nanak, on His own, God unites them with Himself by uniting them the Guru’s word.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ l

Siree Raag, by the Third Guru:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਭਏ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਸਰੀਰ ॥
satgur sayvi-ai man nirmalaa bha-ay pavit sareer.
By serving and following the teachings of the True Guru, the mind becomes immaculate, and the body becomes pure.
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਪੱਲਾ ਫੜੀ ਰੱਖੀਏ, ਤਾਂ ਮਨ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਰੀਰ (ਭੀ) ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਮਨਿ ਆਨੰਦੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰੁ ॥
man aanand sadaa sukh paa-i-aa bhayti-aa gahir gambheer.
Meeting with the unfathomable God, the mind obtains bliss and eternal peace.
ਡੂੰਘੇ ਅਤੇ ਅਥਾਹ ਮਾਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਤੇ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਆਰਾਮ, ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਚੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਬੈਸਣਾ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਨੁ ਧੀਰ ॥੧॥
sachee sangat baisnaa sach naam man Dheer. ||1||
By joining the Sangat, the True Congregation, the mind is comforted and consoled by the True Name of God.
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਮਨ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਉ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਮਨ ਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਨਿਸੰਗੁ ॥
man ray satgur sayv nisang.
O’ my mind, serve and follow the true Guru’s teachings without any hesitation.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਝਾਕਾ ਲਾਹ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਉ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਲਗੈ ਨ ਮੈਲੁ ਪਤੰਗੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
satgur sayvi-ai har man vasai lagai na mail patang. ||1|| rahaa-o.
By following the Guru’s teachings, God comes to dwell within, and the mind is not polluted by any kind of filth of vices.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ (ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਰਤਾ ਭੀ ਮੈਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦੀ l
ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਤਿ ਊਪਜੈ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
sachai sabad pat oopjai sachay sachaa naa-o.
One obtains honor here and in God’s court by attuning to the Divine Word. They alone are the truly righteous persons who meditate on Eternal God’s Name.
ਸੱਚੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਜ਼ਤ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ l ਸੱਚੇ ਉਹ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਾਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਨਾਮ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਨੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਹਉ ਤਿਨ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥
jinee ha-umai maar pachhaani-aa ha-o tin balihaarai jaa-o.
I dedicate myself to those, who by shedding their ego, have realized God
ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਈ ਹੈ।
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਸਚੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਤਿਨ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਕਤਹੂ ਥਾਉ ॥੨॥
manmukh sach na jaannee tin tha-ur na kathoo thaa-o. ||2||
The self-willed people do not know the True One; they find no shelter or support anywhere.
ਪ੍ਰਤੀਕੂਲ ਸੱਚੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਪਨਾਹ ਜਾਂ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਕਿਧਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਦੀ।
ਸਚੁ ਖਾਣਾ ਸਚੁ ਪੈਨਣਾ ਸਚੇ ਹੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਵਾਸੁ ॥
sach khaanaa sach painnaa sachay hee vich vaas.
They whose spiritual food and honor (dress) is God’s Name, they always remain absorbed in the True One.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਤੇ ਪੁਸ਼ਾਕ ਹੈ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਜੁੜੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਸਦਾ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਲਾਹਣਾ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥
sadaa sachaa salaahnaa sachai sabad nivaas.
They constantly praise the True One, and their mind is always remain absorbed in the Divine Word.
ਉਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਸੱਚੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਸਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਭੁ ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸੁ ॥੩॥
sabh aatam raam pachhaani-aa gurmatee nij ghar vaas. ||3||
They recognize the divine soul (God) pervading everywhere and by following the Guru’s advice, their mind remains fixed in their own inner conscious.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਪਛਾਣ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਅੰਤਰ ਆਤਮੇ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥
ਸਚੁ ਵੇਖਣੁ ਸਚੁ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਸਚਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
sach vekhan sach bolan tan man sachaa hoye
The one who sees God everywhere and hear God speaking through all, his body and mind become true (resistant to the attacks of Maya and vices)
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈl ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ) ਅਡੋਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਸਚੀ ਸਾਖੀ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਚੇ ਸਚੀ ਸੋਇ ॥
sachee saakhee updays sach sachay sachee so-ay.
They narrate true stories, give true sermons, and truth is the reputation of these truly honest people.
ਸੱਚੀ ਹੈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਾਰਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖ-ਮਤ। ਐਸੇ ਸਚਿਆਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਹਰਤ ਸੱਚੀ ਹੈ।
ਜਿੰਨੀ ਸਚੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਸੇ ਦੁਖੀਏ ਚਲੇ ਰੋਇ ॥੪॥
jinnee sach visaari-aa say dukhee-ay chalay ro-ay. ||4||
Those who have forgotten the True One are miserable-they depart wailing.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਤਿਪੁਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਦੁਖਾਂਤ੍ਰ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਰਲਾਪ ਕਰਦੇ ਟੁਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜਿਨੀ ਨ ਸੇਵਿਓ ਸੇ ਕਿਤੁ ਆਏ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥
satgur jinee na sayvi-o say kit aa-ay sansaar.
Those who have not served (and followed the teachings of) the True Guru, why did they even bother to come into the world?
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਘਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਘਾਲੀ ਉਹ ਕਾਹਦੇ ਲਈਂ ਇਸ ਜਹਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਏ ਹਨ?
ਜਮ ਦਰਿ ਬਧੇ ਮਾਰੀਅਹਿ ਕੂਕ ਨ ਸੁਣੈ ਪੂਕਾਰ ॥
jam dar baDhay maaree-ah kook na sunai pookaar.
Bound at the door of the demon of death, they are tortured (fear of death torture them) and nobody listens to their shrieks and cries.
ਉਹ ਜਮ ਦੇ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਤੇ ਬੱਧੇ ਮਾਰੀ ਕੁੱਟੀਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕੋਈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੂਕ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਵਲ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਂਦਾ।
ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਵਾਰੋ ਵਾਰ ॥੫॥
birthaa janam gavaa-i-aa mar jameh vaaro vaar. ||5||
They waste their lives in vain and they keep going through many rounds of birth and death.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਗਵਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜੰਮਦੇ ਮਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ l
