Shalok, Third Guru:
ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸਭਿ ਭਰਮਦੇ ਨਿਤ ਜਗਿ ਤੋਟਾ ਸੈਸਾਰਿ ॥
vin naavai sabh bharamday nit jag totaa saisaar.
Without meditating on Naam people are always wandering around aimlessly in the world and are suffering spiritual losses.
ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਅੰਦਰ ਭਟਕਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ; ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਘਾਟਾ ਹੀ ਘਾਟਾ ਹੈ;
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਣੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਅੰਧੁ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ ॥
manmukh karam kamaavnay ha-umai anDh gubaar.
In egotism, the self-willed persons do such deeds which cause pitch darkness of spiritual ignorance.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਤਾਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਉਹ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵਣਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
gurmukh amrit peevnaa naanak sabad veechaar. ||1||
O’ Nanak, the Guru’s followers partake the ambrosial nectar of Naam by contemplating the Guru’s word. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਜੀਵ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਪੀਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥

Third Guru:
ਸਹਜੇ ਜਾਗੈ ਸਹਜੇ ਸੋਵੈ ॥ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
sehjay jaagai sehjay sovai. gurmukh an-din ustat hovai.
The Guru’s follower who always sings God’s praises remains (while awake or asleep) in a state of spiritual equipoise,
ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਜਾਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਸੌਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭਰਮੈ ਸਹਸਾ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
manmukh bharmai sahsaa hovai.
Deluded by his doubts, a self-willed person remains wandering aimlessly;
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਤੌਖ਼ਲਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ;
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਨੀਦ ਨ ਸੋਵੈ ॥
antar chintaa need na sovai.
he is filled with anxiety and he cannot even have a peaceful sleep.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਫਿਕਰ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਸੁਖ ਦੀ) ਨੀਂਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੌਂਦਾ।
ਗਿਆਨੀ ਜਾਗਹਿ ਸਵਹਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥
gi-aanee jaageh saveh subhaa-ay.
The spiritually wise people wake and sleep in God’s love.
ਗਿਆਨੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਜਾਗਦੇ ਸੌਂਦੇ ਹਨ ( ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤਿਆ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥੨॥
naanak naam rati-aa bal jaa-o. ||2||
O’ Nanak, I am dedicated to those who are imbued with Naam. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੈਂ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ ॥੨॥
ਪਉੜੀ ॥

Pauree:
ਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਰਤਿਆ ॥
say har naam Dhi-aavahi jo har rati-aa.
Those who are imbued with God’s love, remember Him with loving devotion.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਰਿ ਇਕੁ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਇਕੁ ਇਕੋ ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿਆ ॥
har ik Dhi-aavahi ik iko har sati-aa.
They remember with adoration only the one God, who alone is eternal;
ਉਸ ਇੱਕ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਧਿਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ;
ਹਰਿ ਇਕੋ ਵਰਤੈ ਇਕੁ ਇਕੋ ਉਤਪਤਿਆ ॥
har iko vartai ik iko utpati-aa.
who alone has created the universe and who alone is pervading everywhere.
ਜੋ ਇੱਕ ਆਪ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਇਕ ਨੇ ਹੀ (ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ) ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਡਰੁ ਸਟਿ ਘਤਿਆ ॥
jo har naam Dhi-aavahi tin dar sat ghati-aa.
Those who lovingly remember God’s Name, cast away their fears.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਦੇਵੈ ਆਪਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਆ ॥੯॥
gurmatee dayvai aap gurmukh har japi-aa. ||9||
Only that follower of the Guru remembers God with adoration, whom He Himself blesses this Gift through the Guru’s teachings. ||9||
ਪਰ ਉਹੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਹ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੯॥

Shalok, Third Guru:
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਨ ਆਇਓ ਜਿਤੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਇ ॥
antar gi-aan na aa-i-o jit kichh sojhee paa-ay.
If the spiritual wisdom, which would have given some true understanding, did not enter into the mind;
ਜਿਸ ਗਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਕੁਝ ਸਮਝ ਪੈਣੀ ਸੀ ਉਹ ਗਿਆਨ ਤਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਗਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਇਆ;
ਵਿਣੁ ਡਿਠਾ ਕਿਆ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ਅੰਧਾ ਅੰਧੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
vin dithaa ki-aa salaahee-ai anDhaa anDh kamaa-ay.
then how can one praise that God, whom he has not seen? Thus a spiritually ignorant person keeps falling into more and more darkness of ignorance.
ਫਿਰ ਜਿਸ (ਹਰੀ) ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਹੋ ਸਕੇ? ਗਿਆਨ-ਹੀਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਬਦੁ ਪਛਾਣੀਐ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੧॥
naanak sabad pachhaanee-ai naam vasai man aa-ay. ||1||
O’ Nanak, only when we contemplate the Guru’s word, then we realize God who is always dwelling in our mind. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣੀਏ ਤਾਂ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

Third Guru:
ਇਕਾ ਬਾਣੀ ਇਕੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਇਕੋ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
ikaa banee ik gur iko sabad veechaar.
The divine word of the Guru is the one and only one True Gure; therefore, reflect only on the Guru’s word.
ਕੇਵਲ ਬਾਣੀ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣੀਕ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਵਿਚਾਰੋ-
ਸਚਾ ਸਉਦਾ ਹਟੁ ਸਚੁ ਰਤਨੀ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥
sachaa sa-udaa hat sach ratnee bharay bhandaar.
The divine word is the eternal commodity, and true is the shop overflowing with the treasures of invaluable gems like Naam and divine virtues.
ਇਹੀ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੌਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹੀ ਸੱਚਾ ਹੱਟ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਰਤਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੰਡਾਰੇ ਭਰੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ।
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਪਾਈਅਨਿ ਜੇ ਦੇਵੈ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
gur kirpaa tay paa-ee-an jay dayvai dayvanhaar.
If God, the benefactor, blesses then these treasures are received by the Guru’s grace.
ਜੇ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ (ਹਰੀ) ਦੇਵੇ ਤਾਂ (ਇਹ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਚਾ ਸਉਦਾ ਲਾਭੁ ਸਦਾ ਖਟਿਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥
sachaa sa-udaa laabh sadaa khati-aa naam apaar.
Dealing in this true commodity, one who earns the wealth of the Name of the infinite God,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸੱਚਾ ਸੌਦਾ (ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਲਾਭ ਖੱਟਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਵਿਖੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਆ ਕਰਮਿ ਪੀਆਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
vikh vich amrit pargati-aa karam pee-aavanhaar.
for him, the ambrosial Nectar of Naam is revealed even while living in the midst of the poisonous Maya; but one partakes it only by God’s grace.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ) ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਵਰਤਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੁ ਸਲਾਹੀਐ ਧੰਨੁ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
naanak sach salaahee-ai Dhan savaaranhaar. ||2||
O\' Nanak, we should applause and remember God, the embellisher of all. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਸਲਾਹੁਣ-ਜੋਗ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰੀਏ ਜੋ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇ ਕੇ) ਸਵਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਪਉੜੀ ॥

Pauree:
ਜਿਨਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਕੂੜੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਸਚੁ ਨ ਭਾਵਈ ॥
jinaa andar koorh vartai sach na bhaav-ee.
Truth is not pleasing to those who live by practicing falsehood.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਕੂੜ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਚ ਚੰਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ;
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਬੋਲੈ ਸਚੁ ਕੂੜਾ ਜਲਿ ਜਾਵਈ ॥
jay ko bolai sach koorhaa jal jaav-ee.
If somebody speaks truth, the false person burns in anger.
ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੱਚ ਬੋਲੇ, ਤਾਂ ਝੂਠਾ (ਸੁਣ ਕੇ) ਸੜ ਬਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ;
ਕੂੜਿਆਰੀ ਰਜੈ ਕੂੜਿ ਜਿਉ ਵਿਸਟਾ ਕਾਗੁ ਖਾਵਈ ॥
khoorhi-aaree rajai koorh ji-o vistaa kaag khaav-ee.
The liars are satisfied through falsehood just as a crow is satiated by eating filth.
ਝੂਠ ਦਾ ਵਪਾਰੀ ਝੂਠ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਾਂ ਵਿਸ਼ਟਾ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਜਿਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਹੋਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਸੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਈ ॥
jis har ho-ay kirpaal so naam Dhi-aava-ee.
The one on whom God bestows mercy, meditates on Naam with loving devotion.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇ ਹਰੀ ਦਇਆਲ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਹ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਰਾਧਿ ਕੂੜੁ ਪਾਪੁ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਵਈ ॥੧੦॥
har gurmukh naam araaDh koorh paap leh jaav-ee. ||10||
One’s falsehood and sin vanishes by lovingly remembering Naam by following the Guru’s teachings. ||10||
ਜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਅਰਾਧੀਏ, ਤਾਂ ਕੂੜ ਤੇ ਪਾਪ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੦॥

Shalok, Third Gurul:
ਸੇਖਾ ਚਉਚਕਿਆ ਚਉਵਾਇਆ ਏਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਇਕਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਆਣਿ ॥
saykhaa cha-uchaki-aa cha-uvaa-i-aa ayhu man ikat ghar aan.
O Sheikh, your mind is wandering everywhere; bring your mind back to within yourself;
ਹੇ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਚੁਕਾਏ ਸ਼ੇਖ਼! ਇਸ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਟਿਕਾਣੇ ਤੇ ਲਿਆ;
ਏਹੜ ਤੇਹੜ ਛਡਿ ਤੂ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਪਛਾਣੁ ॥
ayharh tayharh chhad too gur kaa sabad pachhaan.
forsake all these lame and crooked excuses and understand the Guru’s word.
ਵਿੰਗੀਆਂ ਟੇਢੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਛੱਡ ਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਗੈ ਢਹਿ ਪਉ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਜਾਣੁ ॥
satgur agai dheh pa-o sabh kichh jaanai jaan.
Bow in reverence before the true Guru; the Knower who knows everything.
ਜੋ (ਸਭ ਦਾ) ਜਾਣੂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗ;
ਆਸਾ ਮਨਸਾ ਜਲਾਇ ਤੂ ਹੋਇ ਰਹੁ ਮਿਹਮਾਣੁ ॥
aasaa mansaa jalaa-ay too ho-ay rahu mihmaan.
Burn away your hopes and desires, and live like a guest in this world knowing that you have to depart one day.
ਆਸਾਂ ਤੇ ਮਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਦੌੜਾਂ ਮਿਟਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਾਹੁਣਾ ਸਮਝ;
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਭੀ ਚਲਹਿ ਤਾ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਾਣੁ ॥
satgur kai bhaanai bhee chaleh taa dargeh paavahi maan.
If you would walk in harmony with the true Guru\'s will, then you shall be honored in God’s presence.
ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਭਾਣੇ ਵਿਚ ਚਲੇਂਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਆਦਰ ਪਾਵੇਂਗਾ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਨੀ ਤਿਨ ਧਿਗੁ ਪੈਨਣੁ ਧਿਗੁ ਖਾਣੁ ॥੧॥
naanak je naam na chaytnee tin Dhig painan Dhig khaan. ||1||
O Nanak, cursed are their clothes, and cursed is the food of those who do not meditate on Naam. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ (ਚੰਗਾ) ਖਾਣਾ ਤੇ (ਚੰਗਾ) ਪਹਿਨਣਾ ਫਿਟਕਾਰ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

Third Guru:
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
har gun tot na aavee keemat kahan na jaa-ay.
There is no end to the virtues of God and the worth of His virtues cannot be described.
ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਬਿਆਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਉਹ ਗੁਣ ਮੁੱਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ, ਤੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਹਾਝਣ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਬਿਆਨੋ ਬਾਹਰ ਹੈ ;
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਰਵਹਿ ਗੁਣ ਮਹਿ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੨॥
naanak gurmukh har gun raveh gun meh rahai samaa-ay. ||2||
O\' Nanak, the Guru’s followers sing the glorious praises of God and remain absorbed in His virtues. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਜੀਊੜੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥

Pauree:
ਹਰਿ ਚੋਲੀ ਦੇਹ ਸਵਾਰੀ ਕਢਿ ਪੈਧੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਿ ॥
har cholee dayh savaaree kadh paiDhee bhagat kar.
God has fashioned this body as a robe (for the soul), and embellished it with the embroidery of devotional worship.
ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਸਰੀਰ, ਮਾਨੋ, ਚੋਲੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਬਣਾਈ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਭਗਤੀ (-ਰੂਪ ਕਸੀਦਾ) ਕੱਢ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਚੋਲੀ ਪਹਿਨਣ-ਜੋਗ ਬਣਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਪਾਟੁ ਲਗਾ ਅਧਿਕਾਈ ਬਹੁ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਰਿ ॥
har paat lagaa aDhikaa-ee baho baho biDh bhaat kar.
This body is bedecked with many kinds of divine virtues;
(ਇਸ ਚੋਲੀ ਨੂੰ) ਬਹੁਤ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਈ ਵੰਨਗੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਪੱਟ ਲੱਗਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ;
ਕੋਈ ਬੂਝੈ ਬੂਝਣਹਾਰਾ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਿਬੇਕੁ ਕਰਿ ॥
ko-ee boojhai boojhanhaaraa antar bibayk kar.
but only a rare divinely knowledgeable person understands this fact by reflecting on it in his mind.
(ਇਸ ਭੇਤ ਨੂੰ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਸਮਝਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੋ ਬੂਝੈ ਏਹੁ ਬਿਬੇਕੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਆਪਿ ਹਰਿ ॥
so boojhai ayhu bibayk jis bujhaa-ay aap har.
He alone understands this deliberation, whom God Himself inspires to understand.
ਇਸ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਰੀ ਆਪ ਸਮਝਾਵੇ।
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਹੈ ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿ ਹਰਿ ॥੧੧॥
jan naanak kahai vichaaraa gurmukh har sat har. ||11||
Devotee Nanak utters this thought, that it is only through the Guru that the eternal God can be meditated upon. ||11||
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੧੧॥
