ਜੋ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸੋ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥
jo antar so baahar daykhhu avar na doojaa ko-ee jee-o.
He is within – see Him outside as well; there is no one, other than Him.
(ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ!) ਜੇਹੜਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਹਰ (ਸਾਰੀ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਵਿਚ) ਵੇਖ, ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਉਸ ਵਰਗਾ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਏਕ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
gurmukh ayk darisat kar daykhhu ghat ghat jot samo-ee jee-o. ||2||
As Guru’s follower, look upon all with the single eye of equality; in each and every heart, the Divine Light is contained. ||2||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਰਾਹ ਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਇੱਕ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਬਣਾ (ਫਿਰ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਸ ਪਏਗਾ ਕਿ) ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਚਲਤੌ ਠਾਕਿ ਰਖਹੁ ਘਰਿ ਅਪਨੈ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਇਹ ਮਤਿ ਹੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥
chaltou thaak rakhahu ghar apnai gur mili-ai ih mat ho-ee jee-o.
Restrain your fickle mind, and keep it steady within its own home; meeting the Guru, this understanding is obtained.
ਇਸ (ਬਾਹਰ) ਭਟਕਦੇ (ਮਨ) ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ (ਵੱਸਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ) ਹੀ ਟਿਕਾ ਰੱਖ। ਪਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਅਕਲ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਦੇਖਿ ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੁ ਰਹਉ ਬਿਸਮਾਦੀ ਦੁਖੁ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
daykh adrist raha-o bismaadee dukh bisrai sukh ho-ee jee-o. ||3||
Seeing the unseen God (union with him) , you shall be amazed and delighted; forgetting your pain, you shall be at peace. ||3||
ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਉਸ ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ (ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ) ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਵਿਸਮਾਦ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਅੱਪੜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। (ਜੇਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਇਹ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਦੁੱਖ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਪੀਵਹੁ ਅਪਿਉ ਪਰਮ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਹੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥
peevhu api-o param sukh paa-ee-ai nij ghar vaasaa ho-ee jee-o.
Drinking in the ambrosial nectar of Naam, you shall attain the highest bliss, and dwell within the home of your own self.
ਅਟੱਲ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਪੀਉ, (ਇਹ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਪੀਤਿਆਂ) ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਮਨ ਬਾਹਰ ਭਟਕਣੋਂ ਹਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਭਵ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਗਾਈਐ ਪੁਨਰਪਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥
janam maran bhav bhanjan gaa-ee-ai punrap janam na ho-ee jee-o. ||4||
So sing the Praises of God, the Destroyer of the fear of birth and death, and you shall be freed from cycle of Birth and Death. ||4||
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਚੱਕ੍ਰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜਨਮ (ਮਰਨ) ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ॥੪॥
ਤਤੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਬਾਈ ਸੋਹੰ ਭੇਦੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥
tat niranjan jot sabaa-ee sohaN bhayd na ko-ee jee-o.
The essence, same light pervades in God and me, I am He and He is me – there is no difference between us.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਅਸਲਾ ਹੈ (ਆਪ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ।
ਅਪਰੰਪਰ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੫॥੧੧॥
aprampar paarbarahm parmaysar naanak gur mili-aa so-ee jee-o. ||5||11||
Nanak (says that he) has met that limitless God, through the Guru. ||5||11||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਇਹ ਦਿੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਸੋਭ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਵਿਆਪਕਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਤੇ) ਕੋਈ ਵਿੱਥ ਵਿਤਕਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੫॥੧੧॥

ਰਾਗ ਸੋਰਠਿ, ਘਰ ੩ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ।
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵਾ ਤਦ ਹੀ ਗਾਵਾ ॥
jaa tis bhaavaa tad hee gaavaa.
When I am pleasing to Him, then I sing His Praises.
(ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ!) ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ (ਭਾਵ, ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਤਾ ਗਾਵੇ ਕਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵਾ ॥
taa gaavay kaa fal paavaa.
Singing His Praises, I receive the fruits of my rewards.
ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ (ਭਾਵ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ) ਮੈਂ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਗਾਵੇ ਕਾ ਫਲੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
gaavay kaa fal ho-ee.
The rewards of singing, the spiritual bliss is obtained,
ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਜੋ ਫਲ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਸਦਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਭੀ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ)
ਜਾ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਵੈ ਸੋਈ ॥੧॥
jaa aapay dayvai so-ee. ||1||
when He Himself gives them. ||1||
ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
man mayray gur bachnee niDh paa-ee.
O’ my mind, through the Word of the Guru’s, the treasure is obtained;
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ (ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ) ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ,
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਸਚ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
taa tay sach meh rahi-aa samaa-ee. rahaa-o.
this is why I remain immersed in the Naam. ||Pause||
ਉਹ ਉਸ (ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ) ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੀ ਯਾਦ) ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਗੁਰ ਸਾਖੀ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜਾਗੀ ॥
gur saakhee antar jaagee.
When I awoke within myself to the Guru’s Teachings,
ਜਦੋਂ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ (ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦੀ) ਜੋਤਿ ਜਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਤਾ ਚੰਚਲ ਮਤਿ ਤਿਆਗੀ ॥
taa chanchal mat ti-aagee.
then I renounced my fickle intellect.
ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਹ ਮੱਤ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮਾਇਆ ਪਿਛੇ ਭਟਕਣ ਵਲ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਸਾਖੀ ਕਾ ਉਜੀਆਰਾ ॥
gur saakhee kaa ujee-aaraa.
When the Light of the Guru’s Teachings dawned,
ਜਦੋਂ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਾ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਚਾਨਣ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਾ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਸਗਲ ਅੰਧ੍ਯ੍ਯਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
taa miti-aa sagal anDh-yaaraa. ||2||
and then all darkness was dispelled. ||2||
ਤਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ (ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਵਾਲਾ) ਸਾਰਾ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਗੁਰ ਚਰਨੀ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
gur charnee man laagaa.
When the mind is attached to the Guru’s Feet (word of Guru),
ਜਦੋਂ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਾ ਜਮ ਕਾ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਭਾਗਾ ॥
taa jam kaa maarag bhaagaa.
then the Path of spiritual Death recedes.
ਤਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਉਹ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਸਤਾ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਤੁਰਿਆਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ।
ਭੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
bhai vich nirbha-o paa-i-aa.
Then by living in respect and fear of the Guru I obtained the fearless (God),
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਡਰ-ਅਦਬ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਾ ਸਹਜੈ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਆਇਆ ॥੩॥
taa sahjai kai ghar aa-i-aa. ||3||
then, one enters the home of celestial bliss. ||3||
ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਅਡੋਲ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਭਣਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥
bhanat naanak boojhai ko beechaaree.
Prays Nanak, how rare are those who reflect and understand,
ਪਰ, ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਵਿਚਾਰਵਾਨ ਹੀ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਇਸੁ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ॥
is jag meh karnee saaree.
the most sublime action in this world.
ਕਿ ਇਸ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿਚ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ ਹੀ) ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਕਰਨ-ਜੋਗ ਕੰਮ ਹੈ।
ਕਰਣੀ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਹੋਈ ॥
karnee keerat ho-ee.
The noblest deed is to sing the God’s Praises,
ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ (ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ) ਕਾਰ ਉਦੋਂ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਜਾ ਆਪੇ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੋਈ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੨॥
jaa aapay mili-aa so-ee. ||4||1||12||
when on His own that God meets (and becomes manifest in a person). ||4||1||12||
ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ (ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪਰਗਟ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੨॥

sayvak sayv karahi sabh tayree jin sabdai saad aa-i-aa.
All of Your servants, who relish the Word of Your Shabad, serve You.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
gur kirpaa tay nirmal ho-aa jin vichahu aap gavaa-i-aa.
By Guru’s Grace, they become pure, eradicating self-conceit from within.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਉਹ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ (ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ) ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਨਿਤ ਸਾਚੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
an-din gun gaavahi nit saachay gur kai sabad suhaa-i-aa. ||1||
They who day and night sing praises of the eternal God, by following Guru’s word (of advice), they become beauteous (in their life-conduct). ||1||
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ (ਜੁੜ ਕੇ) ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਹਮ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥
mayray thaakur ham baarik saran tumaaree.
O’ my God, I am Your child; I seek Your Sanctuary.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸੀਂ (ਜੀਵ) ਤੇਰੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਹਾਂ, ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਏ ਹਾਂ।
ਏਕੋ ਸਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਤੂ ਕੇਵਲੁ ਆਪਿ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ayko sachaa sach too kayval aap muraaree. rahaa-o.
You are the One and Only One, the Truest of the True; You Yourself are the Destroyer of ego. ||Pause||
ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇਕ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਜਾਗਤ ਰਹੇ ਤਿਨੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਬਦੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੀ ॥
jaagat rahay tinee parabh paa-i-aa sabday ha-umai maaree.
Those who remain wakeful obtain God; through the Word of the Shabad, they conquer their ego.
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਮੁਕਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਆਦਿਕ ਵਲੋਂ) ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਗਿਰਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਗਿਆਨ ਤਤ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥
girhee meh sadaa har jan udaasee gi-aan tat beechaaree.
Immersed in family life, God’s humble servant ever remains detached; he reflects upon the essence of spiritual wisdom.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੇ ਅਸਲ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਵਿਚਾਰਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ ਵਿਰਕਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
satgur sayv sadaa sukh paa-i-aa har raakhi-aa ur Dhaaree. ||2||
Serving the Guru, he finds eternal peace, and he keeps Almighty enshrined in his heart. ||2||
ਉਹ ਭਗਤ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਧਾਵਦਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਖੁਆਇਆ ॥
ih manoo-aa dah dis Dhaavdaa doojai bhaa-ay khu-aa-i-aa.
This mind wanders in the ten directions; it is consumed by the love of duality.
ਇਹ ਅੱਲ੍ਹੜ ਮਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ ਦਸੀਂ ਪਾਸੀਂ ਦੌੜਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, (ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਸਹੀ ਰਸਤੇ ਤੋਂ) ਖੁੰਝਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
