ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਣਿ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਆਖੈ ਇਕ ਦੂ ਇਕੁ ਸਿਆਣਾ ॥
naanak aakhan sabh ko aakhai ik doo ik si-aanaa.
O’ Nanak, everyone tries to describe the glory of God, while each thinking himself wiser than the others.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਜੇ ਤੋਂ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦੱਸਣ ਦਾ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ
ਵਡਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਵਡੀ ਨਾਈ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
vadaa saahib vadee naa-ee keetaa jaa kaa hovai.
God is the supreme Master, and great is His glory; whatever happens is according to His will.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਉੱਚੀ ਹੈ। ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਜੇ ਕੋ ਆਪੌ ਜਾਣੈ ਅਗੈ ਗਇਆ ਨ ਸੋਹੈ ॥੨੧॥
naanak jay ko aapou jaanai agai ga-i-aa na sohai. ||21||
O’ Nanak, if anyone claims to know all about God and His creation, would not be honored in God’s presence.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਅਕਲ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਪਾਣ ਦਾ) ਜਤਨ ਕਰੇ, ਉਹ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੇ ਦਰ ‘ਤੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਆਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਂਦਾ
ਪਾਤਾਲਾ ਪਾਤਾਲ ਲਖ ਆਗਾਸਾ ਆਗਾਸ ॥
paataalaa paataal lakh aagaasaa aagaas.
There are nether regions beneath nether regions of this world, and hundreds of thousands of heavenly worlds above.
ਪਾਤਾਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੇਠ ਹੋਰ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਪਾਤਾਲ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਆਕਾਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਹਨ,
ਓੜਕ ਓੜਕ ਭਾਲਿ ਥਕੇ ਵੇਦ ਕਹਨਿ ਇਕ ਵਾਤ ॥
orhak orhak bhaal thakay vayd kahan ik vaat.
The vedas say that scholars have exhausted themselves trying to find the limits of God’s creation.
ਧਾਰਮਕ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਇਕ ਗੱਲ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਹੱਦ ਬੰਨਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਲੋਕ ਹਾਰ ਹੁਟ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
ਸਹਸ ਅਠਾਰਹ ਕਹਨਿ ਕਤੇਬਾ ਅਸੁਲੂ ਇਕੁ ਧਾਤੁ ॥
sahas athaarah kahan kataybaa asuloo ik Dhaat.
The scriptures say that there are eighteen thousand worlds, which originated from a single source, the Creator-God.
ਧਾਰਮਕ ਗਰੰਥ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕਿ ਕੁੱਲ ਅਠਾਰਾ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਆਲਮ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਢ ਇਕ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਹੈ l
ਲੇਖਾ ਹੋਇ ਤ ਲਿਖੀਐ ਲੇਖੈ ਹੋਇ ਵਿਣਾਸੁ ॥
laykhaa ho-ay ta likee-ai laykhai ho-ay vinaas.
Accounting for the limitless and infinite creation of God is just not possible due to lack of digits because while counting, the digits would end.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਕੁਦਰਤ ਦਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਤਾਂ ਹੋ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ, ਲੇਖਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਲੇਖੇ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਮਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਨਾਨਕ ਵਡਾ ਆਖੀਐ ਆਪੇ ਜਾਣੈ ਆਪੁ ॥੨੨॥
naanak vadaa aakhee-ai aapay jaanai aap. ||22||
O’ Nanak, God is great, He alone knows how great He is.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡਾ ਆਖਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਸਾਲਾਹਿ ਏਤੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਈਆ ॥
saalaahee saalaahi aytee surat na paa-ee-aa.
Even those who praise God cannot comprehend how great He is?.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਡਿਆਈਆਂ ਆਖ ਆਖ ਕੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਇਤਨੀ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਕੇਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਦੀਆ ਅਤੈ ਵਾਹ ਪਵਹਿ ਸਮੁੰਦਿ ਨ ਜਾਣੀਅਹਿ ॥
nadee-aa atai vaah pavahi samund na jaanee-ahi.
They are like those streams and rivers flowing into the ocean, but do not know the vastness of the ocean.
ਨਦੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਨਾਲੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੀ ਥਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੇ।
ਸਮੁੰਦ ਸਾਹ ਸੁਲਤਾਨ ਗਿਰਹਾ ਸੇਤੀ ਮਾਲੁ ਧਨੁ ॥
samund saah sultaan girhaa saytee maal Dhan.
Even kings and emperors, with mountains of property and oceans of wealth,
ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਤੇ ਸੁਲਤਾਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਮੁੰਦਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪਹਾੜ ਜੇਡੇ ਧਨ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਢੇਰ ਹੋਣ,
ਕੀੜੀ ਤੁਲਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਨੀ ਜੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਨਹੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰਹਿ ॥੨੩॥
keerhee tul na hovnee jay tis manhu na veesrahi. ||23||
they are no match to the poorest of the poor who does not forget God.
ਇਕ ਕੀੜੀ ਦੇ ਭੀ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ, ਜੇ (ਹੇ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ!) ਉਸ ਕੀੜੀ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਨਾਹ ਵਿਸਰ ਜਾਏਂ l
ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਸਿਫਤੀ ਕਹਣਿ ਨ ਅੰਤੁ ॥
ant na siftee kahan na ant.
There is no end to God’s virtues, there is no end to their descriptions.
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੱਦ-ਬੰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਗਿਣਨ ਨਾਲ ਭੀ (ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ) ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਕਰਣੈ ਦੇਣਿ ਨ ਅੰਤੁ ॥
ant na karnai dayn na ant.
There is no end to His creation, there is no end to His gifts to us.
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਤੇ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਵੇਖਣਿ ਸੁਣਣਿ ਨ ਅੰਤੁ ॥
ant na vaykhan sunan na ant.
The limits of His virtues cannot be perceived by looking at or hearing about His creation.
ਵੇਖਣ ਤੇ ਸੁਣਨ ਨਾਲ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕੀਦਾ।
ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਪੈ ਕਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਮੰਤੁ ॥
ant na jaapai ki-aa man mant.
It is impossible to know what is God’s motive?
ਉਸ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਹੜੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦਾ ਭੀ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਪੈ ਕੀਤਾ ਆਕਾਰੁ ॥
ant na jaapai keetaa aakaar.
The limits of the created universe cannot be perceived.
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਜਗਤ (ਜੋ ਦਿੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ) ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ।
ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਪੈ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰੁ ॥
ant na jaapai paaraavaar.
It is impossible to know where His creation starts and where it ends.
ਇਸ ਦਾ ਉਰਲਾ ਤੇ ਪਾਰਲਾ ਬੰਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ।
ਅੰਤ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਕੇਤੇ ਬਿਲਲਾਹਿ ॥
ant kaaran kaytay billaahi.
Many struggle to know His limits,
ਕਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦਾ ਹੱਦ-ਬੰਨਾ ਲੱਭਣ ਲਈ ਤਰਲੈ ਲੈ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ,
ਤਾ ਕੇ ਅੰਤ ਨ ਪਾਏ ਜਾਹਿ ॥
taa kay ant na paa-ay jaahi.
but His limits cannot be found.
ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੱਦ-ਬੰਨੇ ਲੱਭੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ।
ਏਹੁ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
ayhu ant na jaanai ko-ay.
No one can know these limits.
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੱਦ-ਬੰਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਬਹੁਤਾ ਕਹੀਐ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
bahutaa kahee-ai bahutaa ho-ay.
The more you say about them, the more there still remains to be said.
ਜਿੰਨਾ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਬਿਆਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਓਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਉਹ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਵਡਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਊਚਾ ਥਾਉ ॥
vadaa saahib oochaa thaa-o.
He is the supreme Master and His abode is the Highest.
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰੱਖ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ।
ਊਚੇ ਉਪਰਿ ਊਚਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
oochay upar oochaa naa-o.
Highest of the High, is His glory.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮਣਾ (ਵਡਿਆਈ) ਭੀ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ।
ਏਵਡੁ ਊਚਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
ayvad oochaa hovai ko-ay.
Only someone as great as Him,
ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਉਸ ਜੇਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੋਵੇ,
ਤਿਸੁ ਊਚੇ ਕਉ ਜਾਣੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
tis oochay ka-o jaanai so-ay.
can know His supreme and Exalted State.
ਉਹ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਉੱਚੇ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਉਹ ਕੇਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ)।
ਜੇਵਡੁ ਆਪਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਆਪਿ ਆਪਿ ॥
jayvad aap jaanai aap aap.
Only He Himself knows how Great He Is.
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਕੇਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰੀ ਕਰਮੀ ਦਾਤਿ ॥੨੪॥
naanak nadree karmee daat. ||24||
O’ Nanak, His blessing is received only by His gracious glance.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਹਰੇਕ) ਦਾਤ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ l
ਬਹੁਤਾ ਕਰਮੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਨਾ ਜਾਇ ॥
bahutaa karam likhi-aa naa jaa-ay.
His Blessings are so abundant that there can be no written account of them.
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਏਡੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਲਿਖਣ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਆਂਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਵਡਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਤਮਾਇ ॥
vadaa daataa til na tamaa-ay.
The Great Giver has no greed or expectation of anything in return.
ਉਹ ਬੜੀਆਂ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਰਤਾ ਭੀ ਲਾਲਚ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਕੇਤੇ ਮੰਗਹਿ ਜੋਧ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
kaytay mangahi joDh apaar.
There are so many great, heroic warriors begging at the door of the infinite God.
ਬੇਅੰਤ ਸੂਰਮੇ (ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੇ ਦਰ ‘ਤੇ) ਮੰਗ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ,
ਕੇਤਿਆ ਗਣਤ ਨਹੀ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
kayti-aa ganat nahee veechaar.
Many more, who cannot be counted, are begging for His bounties.
ਅਤੇ (ਮੰਗਣ ਵਾਲੇ) ਕਈ ਹੋਰ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ‘ਤੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਕੇਤੇ ਖਪਿ ਤੁਟਹਿ ਵੇਕਾਰ ॥
kaytay khap tutahi vaykaar.
Many remain consumed in vices and die in anxiety.
ਕਈ ਜੀਵ (ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਵਰਤ ਕੇ) ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ (ਹੀ) ਖਪ ਖਪ ਕੇ ਨਾਸ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਕੇਤੇ ਲੈ ਲੈ ਮੁਕਰੁ ਪਾਹਿ ॥
kaytay lai lai mukar paahi.
Many keep on receiving His gifts, but deny receiving them.
ਬੇਅੰਤ ਜੀਵ (ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਦਾਰਥ) ਪਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੁਕਰ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ
ਕੇਤੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਖਾਹੀ ਖਾਹਿ ॥
kaytay moorakh khaahee khaahi.
So many fools keep on consuming, but forget the Giver.
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਮੂਰਖ (ਪਦਾਰਥ ਲੈ ਕੇ) ਖਾਹੀ ਹੀ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਪਰ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਦੇ)।
ਕੇਤਿਆ ਦੂਖ ਭੂਖ ਸਦ ਮਾਰ ॥
kayti-aa dookh bhookh sad maar.
So many are destined to endure distress, deprivation and constant abuse.
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਮਾਰ, ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਅਤੇ ਭੁਖ (ਹੀ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਖੇ ਹਨ)।
ਏਹਿ ਭਿ ਦਾਤਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਦਾਤਾਰ ॥
ayhi bhe daat tayree daataar.
O’ great giver, even these sufferings are Your blessings, because many times people remembers You only in distress.
ਹੇ ਦੇਣਹਾਰ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ! ਇਹ ਭੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਹੀ ਹੈ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਕਲੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ)।
ਬੰਦਿ ਖਲਾਸੀ ਭਾਣੈ ਹੋਇ ॥
band khalaasee bhaanai ho-ay.
Freedom from attachment to worldly things comes only by accepting Your Will.
(ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਰੂਪ) ਬੰਧਨ ਤੋਂ ਛੁਟਕਾਰਾ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹੋਰੁ ਆਖਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
hor aakh na sakai ko-ay.
No one else has any say in this.
ਹੋਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਦਖਲ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਖਾਇਕੁ ਆਖਣਿ ਪਾਇ ॥
jay ko khaa-ik aakhan paa-ay.
If some fool presume that he does have a say in it,
ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮੂਰਖ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਛੁਟਕਾਰੇ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਵਸੀਲਾ) ਦੱਸਣ ਦਾ ਜਤਨ ਕਰੇ,
ਓਹੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਜੇਤੀਆ ਮੁਹਿ ਖਾਇ ॥
oh jaanai jaytee-aa muhi khaa-ay.
only he would know how much suffering he will have to endure for this folly.
ਉਹੀ ਜਾਣੇਗਾ ਕਿ (ਇਸ ਮੂਰਖਤਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ) ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਉਤੇ ਕਿੰਨੀਆਂ ਕੁ ਸੱਟਾਂ ਪੈਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਆਪੇ ਜਾਣੈ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ॥
aapay jaanai aapay day-ay.
God Himself knows our needs, and He on His own, keeps on giving.’
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਲੋੜਾਂ) ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਦਾਤਾਂ) ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ’l
ਆਖਹਿ ਸਿ ਭਿ ਕੇਈ ਕੇਇ ॥
aakhahi se bhe kay-ee kay-ay.
Yet only a few acknowledge this (fact).
ਵਿਰਲੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਜੋ ਰੱਬ ਦੀਆਂ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਬਖਸੇ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਸਾਲਾਹ ॥
jis no bakhsay sifat saalaah.
One who is blessed to sing the praises of God,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਬਖਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੀ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੁ ॥੨੫॥
naanak paatisaahee paatisaahu. ||25||
O’ Nanak, he is the spiritually richest person in the world.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਹੈ।
ਅਮੁਲ ਗੁਣ ਅਮੁਲ ਵਾਪਾਰ ॥
amul gun amul vaapaar.
Priceless are God’s virtues, priceless is the effort to acquire those virtues.
ਅਨਮੁਲ ਹਨ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਚੰਗਿਆਈਆਂ, ਹੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ! ਅਤੇ ਅਨਮੁਲ ਤੇਰਾ ਵਣਜ।
ਅਮੁਲ ਵਾਪਾਰੀਏ ਅਮੁਲ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥
amul vaapaaree-ay amul bhandaar.
Priceless are those who acquire and priceless are Your treasures.
ਅਨਮੁਲ ਹਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਵੱਣਜਾਰੇ ਤੇ ਅਨਮੁਲ ਤੇਰੇ ਖਜਾਨੇ।
ਅਮੁਲ ਆਵਹਿ ਅਮੁਲ ਲੈ ਜਾਹਿ ॥
amul aavahi amul lai jaahi.
Priceless are those who come to this world and depart after acquiring His virtues.
ਅਨਮੁਲ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਅਨਮੁਲ ਉਹ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਲੋ ਸੌਦਾ ਖਰੀਦ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਅਮੁਲ ਭਾਇ ਅਮੁਲਾ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥
amul bhaa-ay amulaa samaahi.
Priceless are those who are imbued in His love and are absorbed in Him.
ਅਮੋਲਕ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ
ਅਮੁਲੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਅਮੁਲੁ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ॥
amul Dharam amul deebaan.
Priceless is the Divine Law and Priceless is Divine Justice.
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੇ ਕਨੂੰਨ ਤੇ ਰਾਜ-ਦਰਬਾਰ ਅਮੋਲਕ ਹਨ।
ਅਮੁਲੁ ਤੁਲੁ ਅਮੁਲੁ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥
amul tul amul parvaan.
Priceless is His system of justice and Priceless are the laws of Divine justice.
ਉਹ ਤੱਕੜ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਵੱਟਾ ਅਮੋਲਕ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਚੰਗੇ-ਮੰਦੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੋਲਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਅਮੁਲੁ ਬਖਸੀਸ ਅਮੁਲੁ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥
amul bakhsees amul neesaan.
Priceless are His blessings and priceless are His bounties (mark of His grace)
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਤੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਦੇ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਭੀ ਅਮੋਲਕ ਹਨ।
ਅਮੁਲੁ ਕਰਮੁ ਅਮੁਲੁ ਫੁਰਮਾਣੁ ॥
amul karam amul furmaan.
Priceless is His Mercy, Priceless is His Command.
ਅਨਮੁਲ ਹੈ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਅਤੇ ਅਨਮੁਲ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੁਕਮ।
ਅਮੁਲੋ ਅਮੁਲੁ ਆਖਿਆ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
amulo amul aakhi-aa na jaa-ay.
He is priceless, priceless beyond any expression.
ਮੁਲ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਅਮੋਲਕ, ਸਾਹਿਬ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਆਖਿ ਆਖਿ ਰਹੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
aakh aakh rahay liv laa-ay.
Many continuously describe His virtues and go into deep meditation, but still cannot fully describe them.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਧਿਆਨ ਜੋੜ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦਾ ਅੰਦਾਜ਼ਾ ਲਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ (ਅੰਤ ਨੂੰ) ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਆਖਹਿ ਵੇਦ ਪਾਠ ਪੁਰਾਣ ॥
aakhahi vayd paath puraan.
The writings in the holy scriptures (Vedas and Puranas) try to describe Him.
ਵੇਦਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੰਤਰ ਤੇ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦਾ ਅੰਦਾਜ਼ਾ ਲਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਆਖਹਿ ਪੜੇ ਕਰਹਿ ਵਖਿਆਣ ॥
aakhahi parhay karahi vakhi-aan.
The scholars speak of Him and give discourses to describe Him.
ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਭੀ, ਜੋ (ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦਾ) ਬਿਆਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਆਖਹਿ ਬਰਮੇ ਆਖਹਿ ਇੰਦ ॥
aakhahi barmay aakhahi ind.
Countless brahma and Indra speak of God’s glory.
ਕਈ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ, ਕਈ ਇੰਦਰ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ।
