ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਜਾਟਰੋ ਉਠਿ ਭਗਤੀ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
ih biDh sun kai jaatro uth bhagtee laagaa.
Listening about these other devotees, Dhanna, the Jaat, got inspired and engaged himself in devotional worship of God;
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ (ਦੀ ਗੱਲ) ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਗਰੀਬ ਧੰਨਾ ਜੱਟ ਭੀ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗਾ,
ਮਿਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਖਿ ਗੁਸਾਈਆ ਧੰਨਾ ਵਡਭਾਗਾ ॥੪॥੨॥
milay partakh gusaa-ee-aa Dhannaa vadbhaagaa. ||4||2||
he realized God and became the most fortunate person.||4||2||
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਾਖਿਆਤ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਹੋਇਆ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ॥੪॥੨॥
ਰੇ ਚਿਤ ਚੇਤਸਿ ਕੀ ਨ ਦਯਾਲ ਦਮੋਦਰ ਬਿਬਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਨਸਿ ਕੋਈ ॥
ray chit chaytas kee na da-yaal damodar bibahi na jaanas ko-ee.
O’ my mind, why don’t you meditate on the compassionate God? no one except Him knows the state of your mind.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਦਇਆ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ? ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਦੂਸਰਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ
ਜੇ ਧਾਵਹਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਖੰਡ ਕਉ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਹੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jay Dhaaveh barahmand khand ka-o kartaa karai so ho-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Even if you roam around the entire universe, whatever the Creator-God does, that alone happens.||1||Pause||
ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਦੇਸਾਂ ਪਰਦੇਸਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰੇਂਗਾ, ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਉਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਜੋ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਕਰੇਗਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਨਨੀ ਕੇਰੇ ਉਦਰ ਉਦਕ ਮਹਿ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਕੀਆ ਦਸ ਦੁਆਰਾ ॥
jannee kayray udar udak meh pind kee-aa das du-aaraa.
In the mother’s womb, He fashioned the human body with ten gates (openings).
ਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੇਟ ਦੇ ਜਲ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਸਾਡਾ ਦਸ ਸੋਤਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ;
ਦੇਇ ਅਹਾਰੁ ਅਗਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਐਸਾ ਖਸਮੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
day-ay ahaar agan meh raakhai aisaa khasam hamaaraa. ||1||
Giving the needed sustenance, He protects us in the fire of mother’s womb; such great is our Master. ||1||
ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੇਟ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਸਾਡੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਵੇਖ, ਹੇ ਮਨ!) ਉਹ ਸਾਡਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ (ਦਿਆਲ) ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਕੁੰਮੀ ਜਲ ਮਾਹਿ ਤਨ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਪੰਖ ਖੀਰੁ ਤਿਨ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
kummee jal maahi tan tis baahar pankh kheer tin naahee.
The mother turtle is in the water and her babies are out of the water; she has no wings to protect them and no milk to feed them.
ਕਛੂ-ਕੁੰਮੀ ਆਪ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਬਚੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਕਿਨਾਰੇ ਤੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਨਾ ਓਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਤਾ ਦੇ ਖੰਭਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਖਿਆ ਨਾ ਮਾਤਾ ਦਾ ਦੁੱਧ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ
ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦ ਮਨੋਹਰ ਸਮਝਿ ਦੇਖੁ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥੨॥
pooran parmaanand manohar samajh daykh man maahee. ||2||
Reflect and understand it in your mind that the perfect God, the embodiment of supreme bliss, takes care of them. ||2||
ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ, ਉਹ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਪਾਖਣਿ ਕੀਟੁ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਹੋਇ ਰਹਤਾ ਤਾ ਚੋ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
paakhan keet gupat ho-ay rahtaa taa cho maarag naahee.
A worm lives hidden in the stone and there is no way for him to escape,
ਪੱਥਰ ਵਿਚ ਕੀੜਾ ਲੁਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਪੱਥਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਜਾਣ ਲਈ) ਉਸ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਰਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ;
ਕਹੈ ਧੰਨਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਤਾਹੂ ਕੋ ਮਤ ਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਡਰਾਂਹੀ ॥੩॥੩॥
kahai Dhannaa pooran taahoo ko mat ray jee-a daraaNhee. ||3||3||
the perfect God protects him also; Dhanna says, O’ my soul, you too should not have any kind of fear. ||3||3||
ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਭੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੈ; ਧੰਨਾ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ-ਹੇ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਤੂੰ ਭੀ ਨਾਹ ਡਰ ॥੩॥੩॥
ਆਸਾ ਸੇਖ ਫਰੀਦ ਜੀਉ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ॥

Raag Aasaa, the hymn of shaykh Farid Jee:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਦਿਲਹੁ ਮੁਹਬਤਿ ਜਿੰਨ੍ਹ੍ ਸੇਈ ਸਚਿਆ ॥
dilahu muhabat jinH say-ee sachi-aa.
They alone are the true lovers of God, who love Him from the core of their heart.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਰੱਬ ਨਾਲ ਦਿਲੋਂ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਸੱਚੇ (ਆਸ਼ਕ) ਹਨ;
ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਰੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਰੁ ਸਿ ਕਾਂਢੇ ਕਚਿਆ ॥੧॥
jinH man hor mukh hor se kaaNdhay kachi-aa. ||1||
But those, within whose heart is something other than what they utter are called the fake or unfaithful lovers.||1||
ਪਰ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੋਰ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਹੋਰ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਕੱਚੇ (ਆਸ਼ਕ) ਆਖੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਰਤੇ ਇਸਕ ਖੁਦਾਇ ਰੰਗਿ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਕੇ ॥
ratay isak khudaa-ay rang deedaar kay.
Those who are imbued with love of God, remain delighted with His vision.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ,ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਵਿਚਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਵਿਸਰਿਆ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇ ਭੁਇ ਭਾਰੁ ਥੀਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
visri-aa jinH naam tay bhu-ay bhaar thee-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
But, those who have forsaken Naam, are only a burden on the earth. |1||Pause|
ਪਰ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਭੁੱਲ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਨਿਰਾ ਭਾਰ ਹੀ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਆਪਿ ਲੀਏ ਲੜਿ ਲਾਇ ਦਰਿ ਦਰਵੇਸ ਸੇ ॥
aap lee-ay larh laa-ay dar darvays say.
Those whom God has attuned to His Name, are the true ascetics in His presence.
ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਦੇ ਫਕੀਰ ਓਹੀ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਬ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੜ ਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ,
ਤਿਨ ਧੰਨੁ ਜਣੇਦੀ ਮਾਉ ਆਏ ਸਫਲੁ ਸੇ ॥੨॥
tin Dhan janaydee maa-o aa-ay safal say. ||2||
Blessed is the mother who has given birth to such true devotees and fruitful is their advent in this world. ||2||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੰਮਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਮਾਂ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਆਉਣਾ ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਪਰਵਦਗਾਰ ਅਪਾਰ ਅਗਮ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਤੂ ॥
parvardagaar apaar agam bay-ant too.
O’ Sustainer of the world, You are infinite, incomprehensible and unfathomable.
ਹੇ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ! ਤੂੰ ਬੇਹੱਦ, ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੰਤ ਹੈਂ।
ਜਿਨਾ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਸਚੁ ਚੁੰਮਾ ਪੈਰ ਮੂੰ ॥੩॥
jinaa pachhaataa sach chummaa pair mooN. ||3||
I humbly serve those who have realized You. ||3||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਚੁੰਮਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੩॥
ਤੇਰੀ ਪਨਹ ਖੁਦਾਇ ਤੂ ਬਖਸੰਦਗੀ ॥
tayree panah khudaa-ay too bakhsandgee.
O’ God, You are the bestower of bounties and I seek Your protection;
ਹੇ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ;
ਸੇਖ ਫਰੀਦੈ ਖੈਰੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਬੰਦਗੀ ॥੪॥੧॥
saykh fareedai khair deejai bandagee. ||4||1||
please bless me, Sheikh Farid, with Your devotional worship. ||4||1||
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੇਖ਼ ਫ਼ਰੀਦ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਖ਼ੈਰ ਪਾ ॥੪॥੧॥

ਬੋਲੈ ਸੇਖ ਫਰੀਦੁ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਅਲਹ ਲਗੇ ॥
bolai saykh fareed pi-aaray alah lagay.
Shaykh Fareed says, O’ my dear friend, attune your mind to God’s love;
ਸ਼ੇਖ਼ ਫ਼ਰੀਦ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ-ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ! ਰੱਬ (ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ) ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ;
ਇਹੁ ਤਨੁ ਹੋਸੀ ਖਾਕ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਗੋਰ ਘਰੇ ॥੧॥
ih tan hosee khaak nimaanee gor gharay. ||1||
because buried in a deep grave, this body shall turn to dust. ||1||
(ਤੇਰਾ) ਇਹ ਜਿਸਮ ਨੀਵੀਂ ਕਬਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗਾ ॥੧॥
ਆਜੁ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਸੇਖ ਫਰੀਦ ਟਾਕਿਮ ਕੂੰਜੜੀਆ ਮਨਹੁ ਮਚਿੰਦੜੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aaj milaavaa saykh fareed taakim koonjarhee-aa manhu machind-rhee-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ Shaykh Fareed, you can realize God today, if you restrain your vices which keep your mind in turmoil. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਸ਼ੇਖ ਫ਼ਰੀਦ! ਅੱਜ ਹੀ ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੇਕਰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਵਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੂੰਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕ ਲਵੇ, ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਚਾਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਘੁਮਿ ਨ ਆਈਐ ॥
jay jaanaa mar jaa-ee-ai ghum na aa-ee-ai.
When we know that one day we will die and we would not come back here,
ਜਦੋਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਮਰਨਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਮੁੜ (ਇਥੇ) ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਣਾ,
ਝੂਠੀ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਲਗਿ ਨ ਆਪੁ ਵਞਾਈਐ ॥੨॥
jhoothee dunee-aa lag na aap vanjaa-ee-ai. ||2||
then we should not ruin ourselves by clinging to the world of falsehood. ||2||
ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪ ਗਵਾਉਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ॥੨॥
ਬੋਲੀਐ ਸਚੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਝੂਠੁ ਨ ਬੋਲੀਐ ॥
bolee-ai sach Dharam jhooth na bolee-ai.
We should always tell the truth and utter righteous words and should not lie,
ਸੱਚ ਤੇ ਧਰਮ ਹੀ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਝੂਠ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ,
ਜੋ ਗੁਰੁ ਦਸੈ ਵਾਟ ਮੁਰੀਦਾ ਜੋਲੀਐ ॥੩॥
jo gur dasai vaat mureedaa jolee-ai. ||3||
and we should follow the Guru’s teachings like a true disciple. ||3||
ਜੋ ਰਸਤਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੱਸੇ ਉਸ ਰਸਤੇ ਤੇ ਮੁਰੀਦਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਤੁਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਛੈਲ ਲੰਘੰਦੇ ਪਾਰਿ ਗੋਰੀ ਮਨੁ ਧੀਰਿਆ ॥
chhail langhanday paar goree man Dheeri-aa.
Seeing the youths crossing a river, a girl’s mind gets encouraged to do the same,similarly ordinary people get inspired by the saints crossing over the worldly ocean of vices.
ਦਰੀਆ ਤੋਂ ਜੁਆਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਦਿਆਂ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਭੀ ਹੌਸਲਾ ਫੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ; ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਦਿਆਂ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ-ਦਿਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਹੌਸਲਾ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਕੰਚਨ ਵੰਨੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਕਲਵਤਿ ਚੀਰਿਆ ॥੪॥
kanchan vannay paasay kalvat cheeri-aa. ||4||
Those who remain amassing only the worldly wealth, remain spiritually miserable as if they are being cut down with a saw. ||4||
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਿਰੇ ਸੋਨੇ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਮਾਇਆ ਜੋੜਨ ਵਲ ਲੱਗ) ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਆਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਚੀਰੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥
ਸੇਖ ਹੈਯਾਤੀ ਜਗਿ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਥਿਰੁ ਰਹਿਆ ॥
saykh haiyaatee jag na ko-ee thir rahi-aa.
O’ Sheikh, no one has been able to live forever in this world.
ਹੇ ਸ਼ੇਖ਼ ਫ਼ਰੀਦ! ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਉਮਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੋਗ ਸਕਿਆ।
ਜਿਸੁ ਆਸਣਿ ਹਮ ਬੈਠੇ ਕੇਤੇ ਬੈਸਿ ਗਇਆ ॥੫॥
jis aasan ham baithay kaytay bais ga-i-aa. ||5||
Who knows that the place where we are sitting now, how many have already sat on it and have gone away? ||5||
(ਵੇਖ!) ਜਿਸ (ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਇਸ) ਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਅਸੀਂ (ਹੁਣ) ਬੈਠੇ ਹਾਂ (ਇਸ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ) ਕਈ ਬਹਿ ਕੇ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ ॥੫॥
ਕਤਿਕ ਕੂੰਜਾਂ ਚੇਤਿ ਡਉ ਸਾਵਣਿ ਬਿਜੁਲੀਆਂ ॥
katik kooNjaaN chayt da-o saavan bijulee-aaN.
The swallows (migratory birds) appear in the month of Katik (fall-season), forest fires in the month of Chayt (summer), and lightning in Saawan (rainy season),
ਕੱਤਕ ਦੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਕੂੰਜਾਂ (ਆਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ); ਚੇਤਰ ਵਿਚ ਜੰਗਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗ (ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ), ਸਾਉਣ ਵਿਚ ਬਿਜਲੀਆਂ (ਚਮਕਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ),
ਸੀਆਲੇ ਸੋਹੰਦੀਆਂ ਪਿਰ ਗਲਿ ਬਾਹੜੀਆਂ ॥੬॥
see-aalay sohandee-aaN pir gal baahrhee-aaN. ||6||
and during winter season, young brides look beautiful while hugging their bridegrooms. ||6||
ਸਿਆਲ ਵਿਚ (ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ) ਸੁਹਣੀਆਂ ਬਾਹਾਂ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਖਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਗਲ ਵਿਚ ਸੋਭਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥੬॥
ਚਲੇ ਚਲਣਹਾਰ ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ਲੇਇ ਮਨੋ ॥

Reflect upon this in your mind and see that similar the transitory human beings keep departing from this world,
ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ, ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੀਵ ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਮਾ ਲੰਘਾ ਕੇ ਜਗਤ ਤੋਂ ਤੁਰੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ;
ਗੰਢੇਦਿਆਂ ਛਿਅ ਮਾਹ ਤੁੜੰਦਿਆ ਹਿਕੁ ਖਿਨੋ ॥੭॥
gandhaydi-aaN chhi-a maah turhandi-aa hik khino. ||7||
It takes six months to form a human body, but it perishes in an instant. ||7||
ਜਿਸ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੇ ਬਣਨ ਵਿਚ ਛੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਸ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਇਕ ਪਲ ਹੀ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
ਜਿਮੀ ਪੁਛੈ ਅਸਮਾਨ ਫਰੀਦਾ ਖੇਵਟ ਕਿੰਨਿ ਗਏ ॥
jimee puchhai asmaan fareedaa khayvat kinn ga-ay.
O’ Farid, the earth asks the sky: Where have gone those captains of the ships
ਹੇ ਫ਼ਰੀਦ! ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਅਸਮਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਪੁਛਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮਲਾਹ, (ਵੱਡੇ ਆਗੂ) ਕਿੱਧਰ ਨੂੰ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ?
ਜਾਲਣ ਗੋਰਾਂ ਨਾਲਿ ਉਲਾਮੇ ਜੀਅ ਸਹੇ ॥੮॥੨॥
jaalan goraaN naal ulaamay jee-a sahay. ||8||2||
Some have been cremated and some are rotting in the graves; their soul goes through the cycle of birth and death and they suffer the consequences of their deed. ||8||2||
ਸਰੀਰ ਤਾਂ ਕਬਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਗਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਪਰ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ) ਔਖ-ਸੌਖ ਜਿੰਦ ਸਹਾਰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੮॥੨॥
