ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One Eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਨ ਸਿਰਿ ਸੋਹਨਿ ਪਟੀਆ ਮਾਂਗੀ ਪਾਇ ਸੰਧੂਰੁ ॥
jin sir sohan patee-aa maaNgee paa-ay sanDhoor.
The heads of those girls which used to be adorned with tresses and partings filled with vermillion,
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੁੰਦਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਕੇਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰਲੇ ਚੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਧੂਰ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਕਾਲੇ ਕੇਸਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਪੱਟੀਆਂ ਹੁਣ ਤਕ ਸੋਭਦੀਆਂ ਆ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਸਨ,
ਸੇ ਸਿਰ ਕਾਤੀ ਮੁੰਨੀਅਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਗਲ ਵਿਚਿ ਆਵੈ ਧੂੜਿ ॥
say sir kaatee munnee-aniH gal vich aavai Dhoorh.
those heads are being sheared with scissors and their throats are being choked with dust.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਕੈਂਚੀ ਨਾਲ ਮੁਨੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਗਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਪੈ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਮਹਲਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਹੋਦੀਆ ਹੁਣਿ ਬਹਣਿ ਨ ਮਿਲਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥੧॥
mehlaa andar hodee-aa hun bahan na milniH hadoor. ||1||
They used to live in palatial mansions but now they are not even allowed near those palaces. ||1||
ਜੇਹੜੀਆਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਹਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ, ਹੁਣ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਹਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਭੀ ਢੁਕਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ॥੧॥
ਆਦੇਸੁ ਬਾਬਾ ਆਦੇਸੁ ॥
aadays baabaa aadays.
O’ primal God, I salute and bow to You.
ਹੇ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ! ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਹੈ,
ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਤੇਰਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖਹਿ ਵੇਸ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aad purakh tayraa ant na paa-i-aa kar kar daykheh vays. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’God, we are unable to comprehend Your worldly plays; You continuously create and behold these plays in many different ways. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖ! ਤੇਰੇ ਭਾਣਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਭੇਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ। ਤੂੰ ਇਹ ਭਾਣੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਵੇਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਦਹੁ ਸੀਆ ਵੀਆਹੀਆ ਲਾੜੇ ਸੋਹਨਿ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
jadahu see-aa vee-aahee-aa laarhay sohan paas.
When these ladies were married, their grooms looked handsome beside them.
ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਸੁੰਦਰੀਆਂ ਵਿਆਹੀਆਂ ਆਈਆਂ ਸਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਲਾੜੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਲੱਗ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ,
ਹੀਡੋਲੀ ਚੜਿ ਆਈਆ ਦੰਦ ਖੰਡ ਕੀਤੇ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
heedolee charh aa-ee-aa dand khand keetay raas.
They came riding on palanquins and their arms were adorned with ivory bangles.
ਉਹ ਪਾਲਕੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਆਈਆਂ ਸਨ, (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਾਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ) ਹਾਥੀ-ਦੰਦ ਦੇ ਚੂੜੇ ਸਜੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ।
ਉਪਰਹੁ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਾਰੀਐ ਝਲੇ ਝਿਮਕਨਿ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੨॥
uprahu paanee vaaree-ai jhalay jhimkan paas. ||2||
Pot of ceremonial water was circled over their heads (a ritual to greet the bride) and glass studded fans were glittering in their hands. ||2||
ਸਹੁਰੇ-ਘਰ ਆਈਆਂ ਦੇ ਉਤੋਂ ਦੀ ਸਗਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ, ਸ਼ੀਸ਼ਿਆਂ-ਜੜੇ ਪੱਖੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਸ਼ਕ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ॥੨॥
ਇਕੁ ਲਖੁ ਲਹਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਬਹਿਠੀਆ ਲਖੁ ਲਹਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਖੜੀਆ ॥
ik lakh lehniH behthee-aa lakh lehniH kharhee-aa.
Hundreds of thousands coins were given to them as welcome gifts.
(ਸਹੁਰੇ-ਘਰ ਆ ਕੇ) ਬੈਠੀਆਂ ਉਹ ਇਕ ਇਕ ਲੱਖ ਰੁਪਈਆ (ਸਗਨਾਂ ਦਾ) ਲੈਂਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ, ਖਲੋਤੀਆਂ ਭੀ ਲੈਂਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ।
ਗਰੀ ਛੁਹਾਰੇ ਖਾਂਦੀਆ ਮਾਣਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਸੇਜੜੀਆ ॥
garee chhuhaaray khaaNdee-aa maanniH sayjrhee-aa.
They munched on dried coconuts and dates and enjoyed bridal beds.
ਗਰੀ-ਛੁਹਾਰੇ ਖਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ, ਤੇ ਸੋਹਣੀਆਂ ਸੇਜਾਂ ਮਾਣਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ।
ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ ਗਲਿ ਸਿਲਕਾ ਪਾਈਆ ਤੁਟਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਮੋਤਸਰੀਆ ॥੩॥
tinH gal silkaa paa-ee-aa tutniH motsaree-aa. ||3||
But now their pearl necklaces are being snatched by the evil soldiers (of Babar, the Mugal invader) and instead ropes have been put around their necks. ||3||
(ਅੱਜ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਗਲ ਵਿਚ (ਜ਼ਾਲਮਾਂ ਨੇ) ਰੱਸੀਆਂ ਪਾਈਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ (ਗਲ ਪਏ) ਮੋਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਹਾਰ ਟੁੱਟ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਧਨੁ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਵੈਰੀ ਹੋਏ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਰਖੇ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਇ ॥
Dhan joban du-ay vairee ho-ay jinHee rakhay rang laa-ay.
Their worldly wealth and youthful beauty, which gave them so much pleasure, have now become their enemies.
(ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ) ਧਨ ਤੇ ਜੋਬਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੁੰਦਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ਾ ਚਾੜ੍ਹਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ, ਅੱਜ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਬਣੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
ਦੂਤਾ ਨੋ ਫੁਰਮਾਇਆ ਲੈ ਚਲੇ ਪਤਿ ਗਵਾਇ ॥
dootaa no furmaa-i-aa lai chalay pat gavaa-ay.
The invader had ordered his evil soldiers to dishonor and drive them away.
(ਬਾਬਰ ਨੇ) ਜ਼ਾਲਮ ਸਿਪਾਹੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਕਮ ਦੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਗਵਾ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
ਜੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਜੇ ਭਾਵੈ ਦੇਇ ਸਜਾਇ ॥੪॥
jay tis bhaavai day vadi-aa-ee jay bhaavai day-ay sajaa-ay. ||4||
If it pleases God, He grants glory to His beings; He punishes them if He feels like doing so. ||4||
(ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੁਝ ਵੱਸ ਨਹੀਂ) ਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਡਿਆਈ-ਆਦਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਅਗੋ ਦੇ ਜੇ ਚੇਤੀਐ ਤਾਂ ਕਾਇਤੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥
ago day jay chaytee-ai taaN kaa-it milai sajaa-ay.
If we remember and perform our duties, then why would we be punished?
ਜੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ (ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਫ਼ਰਜ਼ ਨੂੰ) ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੀਏ (ਚੇਤੇ ਰੱਖੀਏ) ਤਾਂ (ਅਜੇਹੀ) ਸਜ਼ਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਮਿਲੇ?
ਸਾਹਾਂ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਗਵਾਈਆ ਰੰਗਿ ਤਮਾਸੈ ਚਾਇ ॥
saahaaN surat gavaa-ee-aa rang tamaasai chaa-ay.
Engrossed in sensual pleasures and revelries, the Pathan kings had lost their minds and had forgotten their duties to defend their kingdoms.
(ਇਥੋਂ ਦੇ) ਹਾਕਮਾਂ ਨੇ ਐਸ਼ ਵਿਚ, ਤਮਾਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਚਾਅ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਫ਼ਰਜ਼ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ।
ਬਾਬਰਵਾਣੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਗਈ ਕੁਇਰੁ ਨ ਰੋਟੀ ਖਾਇ ॥੫॥
baabarvaanee fir ga-ee ku-ir na rotee khaa-ay. ||5||
Since Babar’s rule has been proclaimed, even a prince has no food to eat. ||5||
ਹੁਣ ਜਦੋਂ ਬਾਬਰ ਦੀ ਦੁਹਾਈਫਿਰੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਪਠਾਣ-ਸ਼ਾਹਜ਼ਾਦਾ ਭੀ ਕਿਤੋਂ ਮੰਗ-ਪਿੰਨ ਕੇ ਰੋਟੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਾ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੫॥
ਇਕਨਾ ਵਖਤ ਖੁਆਈਅਹਿ ਇਕਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਪੂਜਾ ਜਾਇ ॥
iknaa vakhat khu-aa-ee-ah iknHaa poojaa jaa-ay.
Some (the Muslims) have lost their five times of daily prayer and some (the Hindus) have lost their worship as well.
ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਿਮਾਜ਼ ਦੇ ਵਕਤ ਖੁੰਝ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਹਿੰਦਵਾਣੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਪੂਜਾ ਦਾ ਸਮਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ,
ਚਉਕੇ ਵਿਣੁ ਹਿੰਦਵਾਣੀਆ ਕਿਉ ਟਿਕੇ ਕਢਹਿ ਨਾਇ ॥
cha-ukay vin hindvaanee-aa ki-o tikay kadheh naa-ay.
Now the Hindu women can neither bathe and apply the ceremonial marks to their foreheads nor they have their sacred kitchens
ਹੁਣ ਹਿੰਦੁ ਤ੍ਰੀਮਤਾ ਨਾਹ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਟਿੱਕੇ ਲਾ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੁੱਚੇ ਚੌਕੇ ਰਹਿ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
ਰਾਮੁ ਨ ਕਬਹੂ ਚੇਤਿਓ ਹੁਣਿ ਕਹਣਿ ਨ ਮਿਲੈ ਖੁਦਾਇ ॥੬॥
raam na kabhoo chayti-o hun kahan na milai khudaa-ay. ||6||
They never remembered god Raam and now to please the barbaric soldiers they cannot even chant Khudaa||6||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਦੇ ਰਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਕੀਤਾ, ਹੁਣ ਜ਼ਾਲਮ ਸਿਪਾਹੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਖੁਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਭੀ ਆਖਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ॥੬॥
ਇਕਿ ਘਰਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਆਪਣੈ ਇਕਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਪੁਛਹਿ ਸੁਖ ॥
ik ghar aavahi aapnai ik mil mil puchheh sukh.
Some have returned to their homes, and meeting their relatives, they ask about their welfare.
ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬਚ ਕੇ ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਇਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਇਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਦੀ ਸੁਖ-ਸਾਂਦ ਪੁਛਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਇਕਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਏਹੋ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਬਹਿ ਬਹਿ ਰੋਵਹਿ ਦੁਖ ॥
iknHaa ayho likhi-aa bahi bahi rove
For some, it is preordained to sit together and discuss their sufferings.
ਕਈਆਂ ਦੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਏਹੋ ਕੁੱਛ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਕਿ ਤਕਲੀਫ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਰੋਂਦੇ ਰਹਿਣ।
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਥੀਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਆ ਮਾਨੁਖ ॥੭॥੧੧॥
jo tis bhaavai so thee-ai naanak ki-aa maanukh. ||7||11||
O’ Nanak, whatever pleases God, comes to pass; what can the helpless human beings do? ||7||11||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ!ਉਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਵਾਪਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਉਸ (ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਕਰਤਾਰ) ਨੂੰ ਭਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ; ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਿਚਾਰੇ ਕੀ ਕਰਨ ਜੋਗੇ ਹਨ? ॥੭॥੧੧॥

ਕਹਾ ਸੁ ਖੇਲ ਤਬੇਲਾ ਘੋੜੇ ਕਹਾ ਭੇਰੀ ਸਹਨਾਈ ॥
kahaa so khayl tabaylaa ghorhay kahaa bhayree sehnaa-ee.
Where are those sports, stables, horses, drums and the flutes?
ਕਿੱਥੇ ਹਨ (ਫ਼ੌਜੀਆਂ ਦੇ) ਖੇਡ ਤਮਾਸ਼ੇ? ਕਿੱਥੇ ਹਨ ਘੋੜੇ ਤੇ (ਘੋੜਿਆਂ ਦੇ) ਤਬੇਲੇ? ਕਿੱਥੇ ਗਏ ਨਗਾਰੇ ਤੇ ਤੂਤੀਆਂ?
ਕਹਾ ਸੁ ਤੇਗਬੰਦ ਗਾਡੇਰੜਿ ਕਹਾ ਸੁ ਲਾਲ ਕਵਾਈ ॥
kahaa so taygband gaadayrarh kahaa so laal kavaa-ee.
Where are the sword-belts and chariots? Where are those scarlet uniforms?
ਕਿੱਥੇ ਹਨ ਪਸ਼ਮੀਨੇ ਦੇ ਗਾਤਰੇ? ਤੇ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ (ਫ਼ੌਜੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ) ਲਾਲ ਬਰਦੀਆਂ?
ਕਹਾ ਸੁ ਆਰਸੀਆ ਮੁਹ ਬੰਕੇ ਐਥੈ ਦਿਸਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੧॥
kahaa so aarsee-aa muh bankay aithai diseh naahee. ||1||
Where are the mirrors and the beautiful faces? none of those are visible here. |1|
ਕਿੱਥੇ ਹਨ ਸ਼ੀਸ਼ੇ? ਤੇ (ਸ਼ੀਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਵੇਖੇ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ) ਸੋਹਣੇ ਮੂੰਹ? ਅੱਜ ਇਥੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦੇ ॥੧॥
ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੂ ਗੋਸਾਈ ॥
ih jag tayraa too gosaa-ee.
O’ God, this world belongs to You and You are its Master.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਇਸ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ।
ਏਕ ਘੜੀ ਮਹਿ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪੇ ਜਰੁ ਵੰਡਿ ਦੇਵੈ ਭਾਂਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ayk gharhee meh thaap uthaapay jar vand dayvai bhaaN-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
In an instant, You create and destroy the creation; You distribute the worldly wealth as it pleases You. ||1||Pause||
ਇਕ ਘੜੀ ਵਿਚ ਤੂੰ ਜਗਤ ਰਚ ਕੇ ਤਬਾਹ ਭੀ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ; ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਧਨ-ਦੌਲਤ ਨੂੰ ਵੰਡਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਹਾਂ ਸੁ ਘਰ ਦਰ ਮੰਡਪ ਮਹਲਾ ਕਹਾ ਸੁ ਬੰਕ ਸਰਾਈ ॥
kahaaN so ghar dar mandap mehlaa kahaa so bank saraa-ee.
Where are those houses, gates, mansions, palaces, and magnificent inns?
ਕਿੱਥੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਘਰ ਮਹਲ-ਮਾੜੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਸੋਹਣੀਆਂ ਸਰਾਵਾਂ?
ਕਹਾਂ ਸੁ ਸੇਜ ਸੁਖਾਲੀ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਵੇਖਿ ਨੀਦ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
kahaaN so sayj sukhaalee kaaman jis vaykh need na paa-ee.
Where is that pleasing woman and her cozy bed whose beauty would not allow one to sleep?
ਕਿੱਥੇ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੇਜ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ (ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਨੀਂਦ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਸੀ?
ਕਹਾ ਸੁ ਪਾਨ ਤੰਬੋਲੀ ਹਰਮਾ ਹੋਈਆ ਛਾਈ ਮਾਈ ॥੨॥
kahaa so paan tambolee harmaa ho-ee-aa chhaa-ee maa-ee. ||2||
Where are those betel leaves and their sellers? Where are those ladies living in harems? They all have vanished like a shadow. ||2||
ਕਿੱਥੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਪਾਨ ਤੇ ਪਾਨ ਵੇਚਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ, ਤੇ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਉਹ ਪਰਦੇਦਾਰ ਜ਼ਨਾਨੀਆਂ? ਸਭ ਗੁੰਮ ਹੋ ਚੁਕੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਇਸੁ ਜਰ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਘਣੀ ਵਿਗੁਤੀ ਇਨਿ ਜਰ ਘਣੀ ਖੁਆਈ ॥
is jar kaaran ghanee vigutee in jar ghanee khu-aa-ee.
For the sake of this worldly wealth, so many are ruined and this wealth has disgraced much of the world.
ਇਸ ਧਨ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਬਹੁਤ ਲੋਕਾਈ ਤਬਾਹ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਇਸ ਧਨ ਨੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਨੂੰ ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਾਪਾ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਮੁਇਆ ਸਾਥਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
paapaa baajhahu hovai naahee mu-i-aa saath na jaa-ee.
This wealth cannot be amassed without committing sins and it does not go along with the dead.
ਪਾਪ ਜ਼ੁਲਮ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ, ਇਹ ਦੌਲਤ ਇਕੱਠੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ, ਤੇ ਮਰਨ ਵੇਲੇ ਇਹ (ਇਕੱਠੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੇ) ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੀ।
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਖੁਆਏ ਕਰਤਾ ਖੁਸਿ ਲਏ ਚੰਗਿਆਈ ॥੩॥
jis no aap khu-aa-ay kartaa khus la-ay changi-aa-ee. ||3||
Whom God Himself wants to go astray, He first deprives that person of his virtues. ||3||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਉਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ) ਚੰਗਿਆਈ ਖੋਹ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਕੋਟੀ ਹੂ ਪੀਰ ਵਰਜਿ ਰਹਾਏ ਜਾ ਮੀਰੁ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਧਾਇਆ ॥
