ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮਾ ਰਾਮਾ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਉ ॥
raam raamaa raamaa gun gaava-o.
O’ my friends, I sing the praises of the all-pervading God.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪਿ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਉ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sant partaap saaDh kai sangay har har naam Dhi-aava-o ray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
By the Guru’s grace, joining the company of saintls, I meditate on God’s Name. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਗਲ ਸਮਗ੍ਰੀ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸੂਤਿ ਪਰੋਈ ॥
sagal samagree jaa kai soot paro-ee.
Under whose command the entire universe runs,
ਜਿਸ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ) ਦੇ ਧਾਗੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਪ੍ਰੋਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ,
ਘਟ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਸੋਈ ॥੨॥
ghat ghat antar ravi-aa so-ee. ||2||
that God is pervading in each and every heart. ||2||
ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਓਪਤਿ ਪਰਲਉ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਕਰਤਾ ॥
opat parla-o khin meh kartaa.
God can create and destroy the entire universe in a moment.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੀ ਉਤਪੱਤੀ ਤੇ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਆਪਿ ਅਲੇਪਾ ਨਿਰਗੁਨੁ ਰਹਤਾ ॥੩॥
aap alaypaa nirgun rahtaa. ||3||
God Himself remains detached and unaffected by three attributes of Maya. ||3||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਖਰਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਤੋਂ ਅਛੋਹ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥
karan karaavan antarjaamee.
God, the inner knower of all hearts, is the cause and doer of everything.
ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ, ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨ ਤੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਕਰਾਣ ਦੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਨੰਦ ਕਰੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥੪॥੧੩॥੬੪॥

Raag Aasaa, Fifth Guru:
ਕੋਟਿ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਰਹੇ ਭਵਾਰੇ ॥
kot janam kay rahay bhavaaray.
The millions of rounds of birth and death of those end, who follow the Guru’s teachings and meditate on Naam.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨ-ਧੂੜ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਏ,
ਦੁਲਭ ਦੇਹ ਜੀਤੀ ਨਹੀ ਹਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
dulabh dayh jeetee nahee haaray. ||1||
They did not lose to Maya but won the game of human life which is so difficult to attain. ||1||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲੇ ਇਸ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਦੀ ਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਜਿੱਤ ਲਈ, (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ) ਹਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਾਧੀ ॥੧॥
ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਬਿਨਾਸੇ ਦੁਖ ਦਰਦ ਦੂਰਿ ॥
kilbikh binaasay dukh darad door.
All their sins got washed off and their pains and sorrows vanished;
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਹੋ ਗਏ, ਦੁਖ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ,
ਭਏ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bha-ay puneet santan kee Dhoor. ||1|| rahaa-o.
their life became immaculate by humbly following the Guru’s teachings. ||1||Pause||
ਉਹ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਮਿਲ ਗਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਉਧਾਰਨ ਜੋਗ ॥
parabh kay sant uDhaaran jog.
God’s saints have the ability to save others from vices;
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਣ ਦੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਤਿਸੁ ਭੇਟੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਧੁਰਿ ਸੰਜੋਗ ॥੨॥
tis bhaytay jis Dhur sanjog. ||2||
only that person who is preordained meets the saint-Guru. ||2||
ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਹਨ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਧੁਰ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਮਨਿ ਆਨੰਦੁ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ॥
man aanand mantar gur dee-aa.
The mind of the one always remain in bliss whom the Guru gives the mantra of God’s Name.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ) ਦਿੱਤਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਬੁਝੀ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਥੀਆ ॥੩॥
tarisan bujhee man nihchal thee-aa. ||3||
His fiery desires for Maya are quenched and his mind becomes stable. ||3||
ਉਸਦੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਬੁੱਝ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਡੋਲਣੋਂ ਹਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਈ ਬੁਧਿ ॥੪॥੧੪॥੬੫॥
naam padaarath na-o niDh siDh. naanak gur tay paa-ee buDh. ||4||14||65||
O’ Nanak, he who attains divine wisdom from the Guru, receives the invaluable wealth of Naam which is like the nine treasures of the world and the miraculous powers. ||4||14||65||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਸਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਨਾਮ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ, ਮਾਨੋ, ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਨੌ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਰਾਮਤੀ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੧੪॥੬੫॥

Raag Aasaa, Fifth Guru:
ਮਿਟੀ ਤਿਆਸ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਧੇਰੇ ॥
mitee ti-aas agi-aan anDhayray.
The burning desire for Maya, due to the darkness of ignorance, is dispelled
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਦੇ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਈ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਧ ਸੇਵਾ ਅਘ ਕਟੇ ਘਨੇਰੇ ॥੧॥
saaDh sayvaa agh katay ghanayray. ||1||
and countless sins are erased by following the Guru’s teachings. ||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ (ਦੱਸੀ) ਸੇਵਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਪਾਪ ਕੱਟੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦੁ ਘਨਾ ॥
sookh sahj aanand ghanaa.
Peace, equipoise and immense bliss is obtained,
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੜਾ ਸੁਖ ਅਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਭਏ ਮਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur sayvaa tay bha-ay man nirmal har har har har naam sunaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and the minds of those become immaculate, who listen and sing God’s praises by following the Guru’s teachings. ||1||Pause||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੇਹੜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਬਿਨਸਿਓ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਮੂਰਖੁ ਢੀਠਾ ॥
binsi-o man kaa moorakh dheethaa.
The stubbornness and foolishness of their mind vanishes,
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦਾ ਮੂਰਖ-ਪੁਣਾ ਤੇ ਅਮੋੜ-ਪਨ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਲਾਗਾ ਮੀਠਾ ॥੨॥
parabh kaa bhaanaa laagaa meethaa. ||2||
and now God’s will becomes pleasing to them. ||2||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੇ ਚਰਣ ਗਹੇ ॥
gur pooray kay charan gahay.
Those who seek the Guru’s refuge and totally surrender to him.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਫੜ ਲਏ ਹਨ,
ਕੋਟਿ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਪਾਪ ਲਹੇ ॥੩॥
kot janam kay paap lahay. ||3||
their sins of millions of births are washed off. ||3||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ (ਪਿਛਲੇ) ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਪਾਪ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਰਤਨ ਜਨਮੁ ਇਹੁ ਸਫਲ ਭਇਆ ॥
ratan janam ih safal bha-i-aa.
The jewel-like valuable human life of those becomes successful,
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਰੀ ਮਇਆ ॥੪॥੧੫॥੬੬॥
kaho naanak parabh karee ma-i-aa. ||4||15||66||
upon whom God showed His mercy, says Nanak. ||4||15||66||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੀ) ਮੇਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ ॥੪॥੧੫॥੬੬॥

Fifth Guru:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਸਦ ਸਦਾ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੇ ॥
satgur apnaa sad sadaa samHaaray.
O’ my mind, always enshrine the teachings of the true Guru in Your heart.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਆਪਣੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਸਾਂਭ ਰੱਖ।
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਕੇਸ ਸੰਗਿ ਝਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
gur kay charan kays sang jhaaray. ||1||
bow before the Guru with such humility, as if you are wiping his feet with your long hair (beard). ||1||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੇਸਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਝਾੜਿਆ ਕਰ (ਗੁਰੂ-ਦਰ ਤੇ ਨਿਮ੍ਰਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆ ਰਹੁ) ॥੧॥
ਜਾਗੁ ਰੇ ਮਨ ਜਾਗਨਹਾਰੇ ॥
jaag ray man jaaganhaaray.
O’ my mind, wake up from the slumber of the love of Maya.
ਹੇ ਜਾਗਣ ਜੋਗੇ ਮਨ! (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਦ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਸੁਚੇਤ ਹੋਹੁ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਆਵਸਿ ਕਾਮਾ ਝੂਠਾ ਮੋਹੁ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਪਸਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bin har avar na aavas kaamaa jhoothaa moh mithi-aa pasaaray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Except God’s Name, nothing else would be of any use to you; false is the love of the family and the expanse of Maya. ||1||Pause||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ (ਪਦਾਰਥ) ਤੇਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਵੇਗਾ, (ਪਰਵਾਰ ਦਾ) ਮੋਹ ਤੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ) ਖਿਲਾਰਾ ਇਹ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਸਾਥ ਨਿਬਾਹੁਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਿਉ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਇ ॥
gur kee banee si-o rang laa-ay.
Embrace love for the Guru’s divine word of God’s praises.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਜੋੜ।
ਗੁਰੁ ਕਿਰਪਾਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥
gur kirpaal ho-ay dukh jaa-ay. ||2||
Upon whom the Guru becomes kind, all his misery goes away. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਥਾਉ ॥
gur bin doojaa naahee thaa-o.
Except the Guru, there is no other place where one stays alert from Maya.
ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ (ਜਿਥੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਦ ਵਿਚ ਸੁੱਤੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਜਗਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ)।
ਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਨਾਉ ॥੩॥
gur daataa gur dayvai naa-o. ||3||
The Guru is the bestower of Naam; it is the Guru who bestows Naam. ||3||
ਗੁਰੂ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇਣ-ਜੋਗਾ ਹੈ (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਸੁੱਤੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਜਗਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੩॥
ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਆਪਿ ॥
gur paarbarahm parmaysar aap.
The Guru himself is embodiment of the all pervading supreme God.
ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ (ਦਾ ਰੂਪ) ਹੈ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ (ਦਾ ਰੂਪ) ਹੈ।
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਜਾਪਿ ॥੪॥੧੬॥੬੭॥
aath pahar naanak gur jaap. ||4||16||67||
O’ Nanak, always remember the Guru. ||4||16||67||

ਆਪੇ ਪੇਡੁ ਬਿਸਥਾਰੀ ਸਾਖ ॥
aapay payd bisthaaree saakh.
The world is like a widely spread tree, whose main stem is God Himself; the expanse of the world is like branches of that tree.
ਇਹ ਜਗਤ, ਮਾਨੋ ਇਕ ਵੱਡੇ ਖਿਲਾਰ ਵਾਲਾ ਰੁੱਖ ਹੈ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਇਸ ਜਗਤ-ਰੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਵੱਡਾ ਤਨਾ ਹੈ ਜਗਤ-ਪਸਾਰਾ ਉਸ ਰੁੱਖ ਦੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਾਖ਼ਾਂ ਦਾ ਖਿਲਾਰ ਖਿਲਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਅਪਨੀ ਖੇਤੀ ਆਪੇ ਰਾਖ ॥੧॥
apnee khaytee aapay raakh. ||1||
God is like a farmer, this world is His crop and He Himself protects His crop. ||1||
ਇਹ ਜਗਤ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ (ਬੀਜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ) ਫ਼ਸਲ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਦਾ ਉਹ ਰਾਖਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਜਤ ਕਤ ਪੇਖਉ ਏਕੈ ਓਹੀ ॥
jat kat paykha-o aykai ohee.
Wherever I see, I see that God alone,
ਮੈਂ ਜਿਧਰ ਕਿਧਰ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਘਟ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਸੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ghat ghat antar aapay so-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and He Himself is pervading each and every heart. ||1||Pause||
ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਆਪੇ ਸੂਰੁ ਕਿਰਣਿ ਬਿਸਥਾਰੁ ॥
aapay soor kiran bisthaar.
God Himself is the Sun and this world is like the expanse of His rays.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸੂਰਜ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਇਹ ਜਗਤ, ਮਾਨੋ, ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ) ਕਿਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਖਲਾਰਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੋਈ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਸੋਈ ਆਕਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
so-ee gupat so-ee aakaar. ||2||
He Himself is intangible and Himself the visible expanse. ||2||
ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ (ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ) ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਪਸਾਰਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸਰਗੁਣ ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਥਾਪੈ ਨਾਉ ॥
sargun nirgun thaapai naa-o.
God Himself establishes his tangible and intangible form.
ਆਪਣੇ ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਤੇ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਮਾਨ ਰੂਪਾਂ ਦਾ) ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਤੇ ਸਰਗੁਣ ਨਾਮ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਥਾਪਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਦੁਹ ਮਿਲਿ ਏਕੈ ਕੀਨੋ ਠਾਉ ॥੩॥
duh mil aykai keeno thaa-o. ||3||
Both these forms merge at one single point which is God Himself. ||3||
ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਰੂਪਾਂ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈ) ॥੩॥
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਖੋਇਆ ॥
kaho naanak gur bharam bha-o kho-i-aa.
Nanak says, he whose fear and doubt is dispelled by the Guru;
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਤੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
ਅਨਦ ਰੂਪੁ ਸਭੁ ਨੈਨ ਅਲੋਇਆ ॥੪॥੧੭॥੬੮॥
anad roop sabh nain alo-i-aa. ||4||17||68||
with his own spiritually enlightened eyes he has seen God, the embodiment of bliss, everywhere. ||4||17||68||
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਅੱਖੀਂ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧੭॥੬੮॥

ਉਕਤਿ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਨਾ ॥
ukat si-aanap kichhoo na jaanaa.
O’ God, I do not know any clever arguments or wise thoughts
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਕੋਈ ਦਲੀਲ (ਦੇਣੀ) ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਮੈਂ ਕੋਈ ਸਿਆਣਪ (ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨੀ) ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ,
