ਅਪਨੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
apnee kirpaa jis aap karay-i.
Upon whom God shows His grace.
ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮਤਿ ਲੇਇ ॥੨॥
nanak so sevak gur kee mat lay-ay. ||2||
O’ Nanak, only that devotee seeks the Guru’s teachings. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਸੇਵਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਬੀਸ ਬਿਸਵੇ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨੈ ॥
bees bisvay gur kaa man maanai.
The one who has convinced the Guru of his total devotion.
ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਰਧਾ ਦਾ ਪੂਰੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਯਕੀਨ ਦਿਵਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
so sayvak parmaysur kee gat jaanai.
that devotee gets to know the mystical state of the Transcendent God.
ਉਹ ਸੇਵਕ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥
so satgur jis ridai har naa-o.
The true Guru is the one, in whose heart is enshrined God’s Name.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ (ਭੀ) ਉਹ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਅਨਿਕ ਬਾਰ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥
anik baar gur ka-o bal jaa-o.
I dedicate myself to that Guru many times.
(ਮੈਂ ਐਸੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਕਈ ਵਾਰੀ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਜੀਅ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ॥
sarab niDhaan jee-a kaa daataa.
The True Guru is the bestower of all treasures and spiritual life.
(ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ) ਸਾਰੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ,
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
aath pahar paarbarahm rang raataa.
At all times he remains imbued with the love of God.
ਉਹ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਮਹਿ ਜਨੁ ਜਨ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ॥
barahm meh jan jan meh paarbarahm.
The True Guru is absorbed in the Supreme God and the supreme God dwells in his His devotees.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ-(ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ-ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਸਦਾ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਹੈ),
ਏਕਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਨਹੀ ਕਛੁ ਭਰਮੁ ॥
aykeh aap nahee kachh bharam.
There is no doubt that God and the True Guru are one and the same.
ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਇਕ-ਰੂਪ ਹਨ, ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਭੁਲੇਖੇ ਵਾਲੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਸਹਸ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਲਇਆ ਨ ਜਾਈਐ ॥
sahas si-aanap la-i-aa na jaa-ee-ai.
Even by hundreds of clever wits we cannot meet a true Guru.
ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਚਤੁਰਾਈਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਅਜੇਹਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਐਸਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੩॥
naanak aisaa gur badbhaagee paa-ee-ai. ||3||
O’ Nanak, it is only through good fortune that we meet such a Guru. ||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਅਜੇਹਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
ਸਫਲ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪੇਖਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ॥
safal darsan paykhat puneet.
Blessfull is the union with the True Guru; one gets sanctified upon accepting the Guru’s teachings.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ (ਸਾਰੇ) ਫਲ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਦੀਦਾਰ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਪਰਸਤ ਚਰਨ ਗਤਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰੀਤਿ ॥
parsat charan gat nirmal reet.
Upon sincerely following the Guru’s teachings, one’s state of mind is elevated and the conduct in the journey of life becomes immaculate.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਛੋਹਿਆਂ ਉਚੀ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਤੇ ਸੁੱਚੀ ਰਹੁ-ਰੀਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਭੇਟਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਮ ਗੁਨ ਰਵੇ ॥
bhaytat sang raam gun ravay.
Dwelling in the company of Guru, one joins in singing the praises of God,
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਸਕੀਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਗਵੇ ॥
paarbarahm kee dargeh gavay.
and reaches the Court of the Supreme God.
ਤੇ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸੁਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਚਨ ਕਰਨ ਆਘਾਨੇ ॥
sun kar bachan karan aaghaanay.
Listening to the Guru’s teachings one’s ears are satiated,
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਕੰਨ ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਮਨਿ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਆਤਮ ਪਤੀਆਨੇ ॥
man santokh aatam patee-aanay.
the mind is contented, and the soul is fulfilled.
ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਤਮਾ ਪਤੀਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਅਖ੍ਯ੍ਯਓ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ॥
pooraa gur akh-ya-o jaa kaa mantar.
Perfect is the Guru and eternally true are His teachings.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਭੀ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਅਟੱਲ ਹੈ l
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਪੇਖੈ ਹੋਇ ਸੰਤ ॥
amrit darisat paykhai ho-ay sant.
Upon whom the Guru casts an ambrosial glance, that person becomes a saint.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਜਿਸ ਵਲ ਅਮਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਨਾਲ ਤੱਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਓਹੀ ਸੰਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਣ ਬਿਅੰਤ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਇ ॥
gun bi-ant keemat nahee paa-ay.
Infinite are the virtues of the true Guru and no one can estimate his worth.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹਨ, ਮੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੪॥
naanak jis bhaavai tis la-ay milaa-ay. ||4||
O’ Nanak, God unites that person with the Guru with whom He is pleased.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਜੀਵ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ) ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਜਿਹਬਾ ਏਕ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਅਨੇਕ ॥
jihbaa ayk ustat anayk.
A mortal has only one tongue, but countless are the praises of God,
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ) ਜੀਭ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹਨ,
ਸਤਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਪੂਰਨ ਬਿਬੇਕ ॥
sat purakh pooran bibayk.
who is eternal, perfect and insightful Being.
ਜੋ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ।
ਕਾਹੂ ਬੋਲ ਨ ਪਹੁਚਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ॥
kaahoo bol na pahuchat paraanee.
Through no words, can a mortal describe the virtues of God,
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਿਸੇ ਬੋਲ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਤਕ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਿਰਬਾਨੀ ॥
agam agochar parabh nirbaanee.
who is inaccessible, incomprehensible, and free of all desires.
ਜੋ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ, ਵਾਸਨਾ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰਕ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਉਸ ਤਕ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ l
ਨਿਰਾਹਾਰ ਨਿਰਵੈਰ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ॥
niraahaar nirvair sukh-daa-ee.
He needs no sustenance, is without enmity and is peace giving,
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਨਹੀਂ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵੈਰ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ (ਸਗੋਂ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ) ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
taa kee keemat kinai na paa-ee.
no one has been able to ascertain the worth of His virtues.
ਕੋਈ ਜੀਵ ਉਸ (ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ) ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਿਆ l
ਅਨਿਕ ਭਗਤ ਬੰਦਨ ਨਿਤ ਕਰਹਿ ॥
anik bhagat bandan nit karahi.
Countless devotees daily bow in reverence to Him,
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਭਗਤ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ॥
charan kamal hirdai simrahi.
and meditate on His Name with love and devotion.
ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕਮਲਾਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਪਨੇ ॥
sad balihaaree satgur apne.
I dedicate myself to the true Guru forever,
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਐਸਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਪਨੇ ॥੫॥
naanak jis parsaad aisaa parabh japnay. ||5||
O’ Nanak, by whose grace I can lovingly meditate on God’s Name. ||5||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਐਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਜਪ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਇਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਜਨੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
ih har ras paavai jan ko-ay.
Only a very rare person enjoys the essence of God’s Name,
ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਅਮਰੁ ਸੋ ਹੋਇ ॥
amrit peevai amar so ho-ay.
by partaking the Nectar of Naam, he becomes immortal.
(ਤੇ ਜੋ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਹ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਅਮਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਉਸੁ ਪੁਰਖ ਕਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਦੇ ਬਿਨਾਸ ॥
us purakh kaa naahee kaday binaas.
That person never perishes (does not endure death again and again),
ਉਸ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਦਾ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ (ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ)
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੇ ਗੁਨਤਾਸ ॥
jaa kai man pargatay guntaas.
in whose mind manifests God, the Treasure of virtues.
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੇਇ ॥
aath pahar har kaa naam lay-ay.
At all times such a devotee meditates on God’s Name,
ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਿਰ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਚੁ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਦੇਇ ॥
sach updays sayvak ka-o day-ay.
and imparts the same true advice to his disciple as well.
ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਇਹੀ ਸੱਚਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮੋਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਲੇਪੁ ॥
moh maa-i-aa kai sang na layp.
He is not attached to Maya (worldly desires),
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਕਦੇ ਜੋੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ,
ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਏਕੁ ॥
man meh raakhai har har ayk.
and he always enshrines God in his mind.
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਟਿਕਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਧਕਾਰ ਦੀਪਕ ਪਰਗਾਸੇ ॥
anDhkaar deepak pargaasay.
The one whose darkness of ignorance has been replaced by the light of Naam,
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਨਾਮ-ਰੂਪ ਦੀਵੇ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਦਾ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਹਟ ਕੇ ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਭਰਮ ਮੋਹ ਦੁਖ ਤਹ ਤੇ ਨਾਸੇ ॥੬॥
naanak bharam moh dukh tah tay naasay. ||6||
O Nanak, his doubt, emotional attachment and sorrows flee away.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਦੇ ਭੁਲੇਖੇ ਤੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ (ਕਾਰਣ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਏ) ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ
ਤਪਤਿ ਮਾਹਿ ਠਾਢਿ ਵਰਤਾਈ ॥
tapat maahi thaadh vartaa-ee.
Through the Guru’s teachings, peace has prevailed even when living in the heat of vices,
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਪਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਿਆਂ ਭੀ, (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ) ਸਾਡੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਠੰਢ ਵਰਤਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ,
ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਦੁਖ ਨਾਠੇ ਭਾਈ ॥
anad bha-i-aa dukh naathay bhaa-ee.
and, O’ my brother, a state of bliss has prevailed and all woes have vanished.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸੁਖ ਹੀ ਸੁਖ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਦੁੱਖ ਨੱਸ ਗਏ ਹਨ l
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਕੇ ਮਿਟੇ ਅੰਦੇਸੇ ॥
janam maran kay mitay andaysay.
The fear of birth and death is dispelled,
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਣ ਦੇ ਡਰ ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਮਿਟ ਗਏ ਹਨ,
ਸਾਧੂ ਕੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਉਪਦੇਸੇ ॥
saaDhoo kay pooran updaysay.
through the perfect teachings of the Guru.
ਇਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਸਿਖ-ਮਤ ਦਾ ਸਦਕਾ ਹੀ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ l
ਭਉ ਚੂਕਾ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਹੋਇ ਬਸੇ ॥
bha-o chookaa nirbha-o ho-ay basay.
All fear is lifted, and now we dwell in fearlessness,
(ਸਾਰਾ) ਡਰ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਨਿਡਰ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਾਂ,
ਸਗਲ ਬਿਆਧਿ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਖੈ ਨਸੇ ॥
sagal bi-aaDh man tay khai nasay.
and all the maladies are destroyed and dispelled from the mind.
ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਗ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਮਨੋਂ ਵਿਸਰ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਸਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
jis kaa saa tin kirpaa Dhaaree.
The Guru to whom we surrendered has shown mercy;
ਜਿਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਣੇ ਸਾਂ, ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਸਾਡੇ ਉਤੇ) ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ;
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥
saaDhsang jap naam muraaree.
by meditating on God’s Name in the holy congregation,
ਸਤਸੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ,
ਥਿਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਚੂਕੇ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਗਵਨ ॥
thit paa-ee chookay bharam gavan.
we have attained Spiritual stability and our doubts and wanderings have ended.
ਅਸਾਂ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਈ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਭੁਲੇਖੇ ਤੇ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਏ ਹਨ l
ਸੁਨਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ॥੭॥
sun naanak har har jas sarvan. ||7||
O’ Nanak, this has happened by listening to God’s praises with our ears.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਜਸ ਕੰਨੀਂ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ (ਇਹ ਭਰਮੳ ਅਤੇ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਮੁੱਕੀ ਹੈ)
ਨਿਰਗੁਨੁ ਆਪਿ ਸਰਗੁਨੁ ਭੀ ਓਹੀ ॥
nirgun aap sargun bhee ohee.
He Himself is intangible (unaffected by Maya); and He Himself is tangible (in the form of His Creation).
ਉਹ ਆਪ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਖਰਾ ਹੈ, ਤ੍ਰਿਗੁਣੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਭੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈ,
ਕਲਾ ਧਾਰਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਗਲੀ ਮੋਹੀ ॥
kalaa Dhaar jin saglee mohee.
He has fascinated the entire universe by manifesting His power.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਕਾਇਮ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਅਪਨੇ ਚਰਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਬਨਾਏ ॥
apnay charit parabh aap banaa-ay.
He Himself has created His wonders.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਖੇਲ-ਤਮਾਸ਼ੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬਣਾਏ ਹਨ,
ਅਪੁਨੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਆਪੇ ਪਾਏ ॥
apunee keemat aapay paa-ay.
He Himself ascertains His worth.
ਆਪਣੀ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗੀ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਭੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
har bin doojaa naahee ko-ay.
Besides God there is no one else like Him.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਉਸ ਵਰਗਾ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ,
ਸਰਬ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਇ ॥
sarab nirantar ayko so-ay.
He is the only One, permeating all.
ਸਭ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ।
ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਰੂਪ ਰੰਗ ॥
ot pot ravi-aa roop rang.
Through and through, He pervades in all forms and colors.
ਤਾਣੇ ਪੇਟੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਸਾਰੇ ਰੂਪਾਂ ਤੇ ਰੰਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ;
ਭਏ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗ ॥
bha-ay pargaas saaDh kai sang.
This enlightenment is revealed in the company of the Guru.
ਇਹ ਚਾਨਣ (ਭਾਵ, ਸਮਝ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ।
