ਗਨਿ ਮਿਨਿ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਮਨੈ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਰਪਰ ਚਲਨੋ ਲੋਗ ॥
gan min daykhhu manai maahi sarpar chalno log.
you may do all the calculations in your mind and see for yourself that all must depart from here in the end.
ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਵੋ, ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਇਥੋਂ ਤੁਰ ਜਾਇਗਾ
ਆਸ ਅਨਿਤ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਿਟੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਅਰੋਗ ॥੧॥
aas anit gurmukh mitai naanak naam arog. ||1||
O’ Nanak, Naam is the only cure for the malady of false hopes; it is only through the Guru’s teachings that the desire for perishable things is erased. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਨਾਮ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਆਸਾਂ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਨਾਸ-ਵੰਤ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਪਉੜੀ ॥

Pauree:
ਗਗਾ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਗੁਣ ਰਵਹੁ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਜਪਿ ਨੀਤ ॥
gagaa gobid gun ravhu saas saas jap neet.
Gagga (an alphabet): always meditate on God by singing His praises with each and every breath.
ਸੁਆਸ ਸੁਆਸ ਸਦਾ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪੋ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੋ,
ਕਹਾ ਬਿਸਾਸਾ ਦੇਹ ਕਾ ਬਿਲਮ ਨ ਕਰਿਹੋ ਮੀਤ ॥
kahaa bisaasaa dayh kaa bilam na kariho meet.
O’ my friends, there is no guarantee that how long this body will last, therefore do not delay even for a moment in meditating on Naam.
ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਢਿੱਲ ਨ ਕਰਨੀ, ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਭਰਵਾਸਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਨਹ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਨਹ ਜੋਬਨੈ ਨਹ ਬਿਰਧੀ ਕਛੁ ਬੰਧੁ ॥
nah baarik nah jobnai nah birDhee kachh banDh.
Whether it is childhood, youth or old age, nothing can stop death from overtaking you.
ਬਾਲਪਨ ਹੋਵੇ, ਜੁਆਨੀ ਹੋਵੇ ਬੁਢੇਪਾ ਹੋਵੇ (ਮੌਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਭੀ) ਕੋਈ ਰੁਕਾਵਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਓਹ ਬੇਰਾ ਨਹ ਬੂਝੀਐ ਜਉ ਆਇ ਪਰੈ ਜਮ ਫੰਧੁ ॥
oh bayraa nah boojhee-ai ja-o aa-ay parai jam fanDh.
The time of death cannot be ascertained.
ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਸਕਦਾ, ਜਦੋਂ ਜਮ ਦਾ ਰੱਸਾ (ਗਲ ਵਿਚ) ਆ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗਿਆਨੀ ਧਿਆਨੀ ਚਤੁਰ ਪੇਖਿ ਰਹਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਇਹ ਠਾਇ ॥
gi-aanee Dhi-aanee chatur paykh rahan nahee ih thaa-ay.
Whether a person is wise, meditative or clever shall not stay here forever.
ਵੇਖੋ! ਗਿਆਨਵਾਨ ਹੋਣ, ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋਣ, ਸਿਆਣੇ ਹੋਣ, ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਭੀ ਇਸ ਥਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਟਿਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿਣਾ।
ਛਾਡਿ ਛਾਡਿ ਸਗਲੀ ਗਈ ਮੂੜ ਤਹਾ ਲਪਟਾਹਿ ॥
chhaad chhaad saglee ga-ee moorh tahaa laptaahi.
Foolish mortals keep clinging to those very things, which must be abandoned when we depart from here.
ਮੂਰਖ ਹੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੱਫਾ ਮਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣੀ ਵਾਰੀ) ਸਾਰੀ ਲੋਕਾਈ ਛੱਡ ਗਈ।
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਰਹੈ ਜਾਹੂ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗ ॥
gur parsaad simrat rahai jaahoo mastak bhaag.
By the Guru’s Grace, only that person keeps meditating on God’s Name in whose destiny it is so preordained.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੇਖ ਉੱਘੜੇ, ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਏ ਸਫਲ ਤੇ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਿਅਹਿ ਸੁਹਾਗ ॥੧੯॥
naanak aa-ay safal tay jaa ka-o pari-ahi suhaag. ||19||
O Nanak, fruitful is the advent of those who unite with their beloved God. ||19||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸੁਹਾਗ (ਖਸਮਾਨਾ) ਨਸੀਬ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਣਾ ਮੁਬਾਰਿਕ ਹੈ ॥੧੯॥

ਘੋਖੇ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਬੇਦ ਸਭ ਆਨ ਨ ਕਥਤਉ ਕੋਇ ॥
ghokhay saastar bayd sabh aan na khathata-o ko-ay.
I have searched all the Shastras and Vedas; none of these say that anyone is eternal beside God.
ਸਾਰੇ ਵੇਦ ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਵੇਖੇ ਹਨ, ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਭੀ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦੀ ਹੁਣਿ ਹੋਵਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਏਕੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥
aad jugaadee hun hovat naanak aikai so-ay. ||1||
O’ Nanak, it is only God who has been there before the beginning of ages, is there now and will be there forever.||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਹੈ, ਜੁਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਭੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਅਗਾਂਹ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਰਹੇਗਾ ॥੧॥

Pauree:
ਘਘਾ ਘਾਲਹੁ ਮਨਹਿ ਏਹ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਦੂਸਰ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
ghaghaa ghaalhu maneh ayh bin har doosar naahi.
Ghagha (an alphabet): firmly grasp this in your mind that except God, there is no one else who is eternal,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪੱਕ ਕਰ ਲਵੋ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ,
ਨਹ ਹੋਆ ਨਹ ਹੋਵਨਾ ਜਤ ਕਤ ਓਹੀ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥
nah ho-aa nah hovnaa jat kat ohee samaahi.
no one was ever there and no one shall be there. He is pervading everywhere.
ਨਾਹ ਕੋਈ ਹੁਣ ਤਕ ਹੋਇਆ ਨਾਹ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ।
ਘੂਲਹਿ ਤਉ ਮਨ ਜਉ ਆਵਹਿ ਸਰਨਾ ॥
ghooleh ta-o man ja-o aavahi sarnaa.
O’ my mind, you would merge with God only if you seek His refuge.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏਂ, ਤਦ ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ l
ਨਾਮ ਤਤੁ ਕਲਿ ਮਹਿ ਪੁਨਹਚਰਨਾ ॥
naam tat kal meh punharchanaa.
In this human life God’s Name is the only effective atonement for sins.
ਇਸ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕੀਤੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਮਿਟਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਘਾਲਿ ਘਾਲਿ ਅਨਿਕ ਪਛੁਤਾਵਹਿ ॥
ghaal ghaal anik pachhutaavahi.
Countless persons regret after putting efforts into ritualistic practices,
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਬੰਦੇ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਘਾਲਣਾ ਘਾਲ ਕੇ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਪਛੁਤਾਂਦੇ ਹੀ ਹਨ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਹਾ ਥਿਤਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ॥
bin har bhagat kahaa thit paavahi.
how can they attain stability or peace of mind without devotional worship?
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਉਹ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ?
ਘੋਲਿ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਤਿਹ ਪੀਆ ॥
ghol mahaa ras amrit tih pee-aa.
Only that person has thoroughly enjoyed the supreme ambrosial nectar of Naam,
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮਹਾ ਰਸ ਵਾਲਾ (ਅਤਿ ਸੁਆਦਲਾ) ਨਾਮ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਘੋਲ ਕੇ ਪੀ ਲਿਆ
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਦੀਆ ॥੨੦॥
naanak har gur jaa ka-o dee-aa. ||20||
O’ Nanak, whom God has blessed with the teachings of the Guru. ||20||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ ॥੨੦॥

ਙਣਿ ਘਾਲੇ ਸਭ ਦਿਵਸ ਸਾਸ ਨਹ ਬਢਨ ਘਟਨ ਤਿਲੁ ਸਾਰ ॥
nyan ghaalay sabh divas saas nah badhan ghatan til saar.
God has given us a fixed number of days and breaths, which do not increase or decrease even little bit.
ਉਮਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦਿਨ ਸੁਆਸ ਗਿਣ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਭੇਜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਕ ਤਿਲ ਜਿਤਨਾ ਭੀ ਵਧਾ ਘਟਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
ਜੀਵਨ ਲੋਰਹਿ ਭਰਮ ਮੋਹ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਊ ਗਵਾਰ ॥੧॥
jeevan loreh bharam moh naanak tay-oo gavaar. ||1||
O’ Nanak, those who are swayed by illusion and worldly attachments, long to live more than their allotted number of days are ignorant fools. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਲੋਂ ਮਿਲੀ ਉਮਰ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵਧੀਕ) ਜੀਊਣਾ ਲੋੜਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥

ਙੰਙਾ ਙ੍ਰਾਸੈ ਕਾਲੁ ਤਿਹ ਜੋ ਸਾਕਤ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕੀਨ ॥
nyanyaa nyaraasai kaal tih jo saakat parabh keen.
Nganga: Fear of death grips the faithless cynics, who have forsaken God.
ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵਿਛੋੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ,
ਅਨਿਕ ਜੋਨਿ ਜਨਮਹਿ ਮਰਹਿ ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੀਨ ॥
anik jon janmeh mareh aatam raam na cheen.
They do not realize God; therefore, they keep enduring the cycle of birth and death in countless species.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਹ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ, ਤੇ ਉਹ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੰਮਦੇ ਮਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਙਿਆਨ ਧਿਆਨ ਤਾਹੂ ਕਉ ਆਏ ॥
nyi-aan Dhi-aan taahoo ka-o aa-ay.
They alone find spiritual wisdom and meditation,
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਪਾਈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਜੋੜੀ,
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਿਹ ਆਪਿ ਦਿਵਾਏ ॥
kar kirpaa jih aap divaa-ay.
on whom God Himself, bestowing mercy, blesses with this gift.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਦਾਤ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
ਙਣਤੀ ਙਣੀ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਊ ਛੂਟੈ ॥
nyantee nyanee nahee ko-oo chhootai.
No one is emancipated by counting the number of good deeds done by him.
ਗਿਣਤੀ ਗਿਣਿਆਂ, (ਸੋਚਾਂ ਸੋਚਿਆਂ ਇਸ ਹੋਣੀ ਤੋਂ) ਕੋਈ ਬੰਦਾ ਬਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਕਾਚੀ ਗਾਗਰਿ ਸਰਪਰ ਫੂਟੈ ॥
kaachee gaagar sarpar footai.
Human body, like a pitcher of clay, shall surely break.
(ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ) ਕੱਚਾ ਘੜਾ ਹੈ ਇਸ ਨੇ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਟੁੱਟਣਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੋ ਜੀਵਤ ਜਿਹ ਜੀਵਤ ਜਪਿਆ ॥
so jeevat jih jeevat japi-aa.
He alone is spiritually alive who meditates on God while living.
ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਜੀਊਂਦਾ ਸਮਝੋ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਜੀਊਂਦੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ,
ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਭਏ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਹ ਛਪਿਆ ॥੨੧॥
pargat bha-ay naanak nah chhapi-aa. ||21||
O’ Nanak, such a person becomes renowned and does not remain hidden. ||21||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਲੁਕਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ, ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਮਣਾ ਭੀ ਖੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨੧॥

ਚਿਤਿ ਚਿਤਵਉ ਚਰਣਾਰਬਿੰਦ ਊਧ ਕਵਲ ਬਿਗਸਾਂਤ ॥
chit chitva-o charnaarbind ooDh kaval bigsaaNt.
One who meditates on God’s immaculate Name feels so delighted as if his heart, which was withered in the love of Maya, has now rejuvenated.
ਜੋ ਜੀਵ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿਤ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਟਿਕਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਉਲਟਿਆ ਮਨ ਕੌਲ ਫੁੱਲ ਵਾਂਗ ਖਿੜ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਭਏ ਆਪਹਿ ਗੋੁਬਿੰਦ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਤ ਮਤਾਂਤ ॥੧॥
pargat bha-ay aapeh gobind naanak sant mataaNt. ||1||
O’ Nanak, through the teachings of the Guru, God Himself becomes manifest in that heart. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨਾਲ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਪਰਗਟਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

ਚਚਾ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਗੁਰ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
chachaa charan kamal gur laagaa.
Chacha: When one surrenders to the Guru and follows his teachings.
ਜਦੋਂ (ਕਿਸੇ ਜੀਵ ਦਾ ਮੱਥਾ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਲੱਗੇ,
ਧਨਿ ਧਨਿ ਉਆ ਦਿਨ ਸੰਜੋਗ ਸਭਾਗਾ ॥
Dhan Dhan u-aa din sanjog sabhaagaa.
extremely blessed is that day and that time.
ਉਹ ਦਿਨ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ, ਉਹ ਸਮਾ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਮਝੋ।
ਚਾਰਿ ਕੁੰਟ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਆਇਓ ॥
chaar kunt dah dis bharam aa-i-o.
One may wander around everywhere in the hope of God’s blessed vision,
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ, ਜੀਵ ਚੌਹੀਂ ਤਰਫ਼ੀਂ ਦਸੀਂ ਪਾਸੀਂ ਭੀ ਭਟਕ ਆਵੇ ,
ਭਈ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤਬ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਾਇਓ ॥
bha-ee kirpaa tab darsan paa-i-o.
God’s blessed vision is attained only when he bestows His mercy.
ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤਦੋਂ ਦੀਦਾਰਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਚਾਰ ਬਿਚਾਰ ਬਿਨਸਿਓ ਸਭ ਦੂਆ ॥
chaar bichaar binsi-o sabh doo-aa.
The thoughts become pure, the love for Maya ends,
ਵਿਚਾਰ ਸੁਅੱਛ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਸਾਰਾ ਹੀ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੂਆ ॥
saaDhsang man nirmal hoo-aa.
and the mind becomes immaculate in the holy congregation.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਨ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਚਿੰਤ ਬਿਸਾਰੀ ਏਕ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੇਤਾ ॥
chint bisaaree ayk daristaytaa.
He dispels all his worries and beholds God alone pervading everywhere,
ਉਹ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਚਿਤਵਨੀਆਂ ਵਿਸਾਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਦਰਸਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਜਨੁ ਜਿਹ ਨੇਤ੍ਰਾ ॥੨੨॥
naanak gi-aan anjan jih naytaraa. ||22||
whose eyes are anointed with the ointment of spiritual wisdom, says Nanak. |22|
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ) ਸੂਝ ਦਾ ਸੁਰਮਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨੨॥

ਛਾਤੀ ਸੀਤਲ ਮਨੁ ਸੁਖੀ ਛੰਤ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ॥
chhaatee seetal man sukhee chhant gobid gun gaa-ay.
I wish bliss may prevail in my heart and mind by singing Your praises.
ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਗਾ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿਚ ਠੰਡ ਪੈ ਜਾਏ, ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਸੁਖੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ,
ਐਸੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਦਸਾਇ ॥੧॥
aisee kirpaa karahu parabh naanak daas dasaa-ay. ||1||
O’ God, show such Mercy on Nanak, the humble servant of Your devotees. ||1||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਰੇ ਤੇ ਅਜੇਹੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥

ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ।ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ ਹਾਂ, ਤੇਰਾ ਬੱਚਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਦਾਸ ਦਾਸਨ ਕੇ ਪਾਨੀਹਾਰੇ ॥
daas daasan kay paaneehaaray.
show mercy so that I may become humble servant of Your devotees.
ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਭਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣਾਂ
ਛਛਾ ਛਾਰੁ ਹੋਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤਾ ॥
