ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਮਨ ਪੂਰਿ ਥਿਧਾਈ ॥
ahaN-buDh man poor thiDhaa-ee.
The human mind is smeared with the ‘greasy dirt’ of egotistical pride.
ਹਉਮੈ ਵਾਲੀ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਨੂੰ (ਹਉਮੈ ਦੀ) ਥਿੰਧਾਈ ਲੱਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ l
ਸਾਧ ਧੂਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਸੁਧ ਮੰਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
saaDh Dhoor kar suDh manjaa-ee. ||1||
With the teachings of the saints, it is scrubbed clean. ||1||
ਸਾਧੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨ-ਧੂੜ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਮਾਂਜੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸੁੱਧ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਅਨਿਕ ਜਲਾ ਜੇ ਧੋਵੈ ਦੇਹੀ ॥
anik jalaa jay Dhovai dayhee.
The body may be washed with loads of water,
ਜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ (ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਦੇ) ਪਾਣੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਧੋਂਦਾ ਰਹੇ,
ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਸੁਧੁ ਨ ਤੇਹੀ ॥੨॥
mail na utrai suDh na tayhee. ||2||
and yet the filth of ego is not removed and mind does not become clean. ||2||
ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਹਿੰਦੀ, ਉਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ (ਭਾਵ, ਤੀਰਥ-ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ) ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ। ॥੨॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸਦਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ॥
satgur bhayti-o sadaa kirpaal.
One who meets the ever merciful true Guru,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਕਾਟਿਆ ਭਉ ਕਾਲ ॥੩॥
har simar simar kaati-aa bha-o kaal. ||3||
casts off the fear of death by always meditating on God‘s Name. ||3||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਭੁਗਤਿ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥
mukat bhugat jugat har naa-o.
Meditation on God’s Name is the only true way of obtaining freedom from vices and enjoying spiritual bliss.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਦਿਵਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣਾ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸਹੀ ਜੁਗਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥੪॥੧੦੦॥੧੬੯॥

Raag Gauree, Fifth Guru:
ਜੀਵਨ ਪਦਵੀ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਦਾਸ ॥
jeevan padvee har kay daas.
God’s humble devotees attain the sublime status of spiritual life,
ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਦਰਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੈ,
ਜਿਨ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਆਤਮ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥੧॥
jin mili-aa aatam pargaas. ||1||
by meeting whom one obtains enlightenment for the soul. ||1||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ ਆਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ) ਚਾਨਣ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਸੁਨਿ ਮਨ ਕਾਨੀ ॥
har kaa simran sun man kaanee.
O’ my mind, with full devotion listen to God’s praises,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਕਰ।
ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਦੁਆਰ ਪਰਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sukh paavahi har du-aar paraanee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and you shall obtain peace in God’s court. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ! ਤੂੰ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਗੋਪਾਲੁ ॥
aath pahar Dhi-aa-ee-ai gopaal.
At all times, we should lovingly meditate on God.
ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਿਰ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ॥੨॥੧੦੧॥੧੭੦॥
naanak darsan daykh nihaal. ||2||101||170||
O’ Nanak, the mind remains delighted by realizing His presence everywhere. ||2||101||170||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਮਨ) ਖਿੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੧੦੧॥੧੭੦॥

Raag Gauree, Fifth Guru:
ਸਾਂਤਿ ਭਈ ਗੁਰ ਗੋਬਿਦਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
saaNt bha-ee gur gobid paa-ee.
The Guru-God has blessed me with peace and tranquility,
ਗੁਰੂ-ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਠੰਢ-ਚੈਨ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ,
ਤਾਪ ਪਾਪ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
taap paap binsay mayray bhaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ my brother, all my sorrows and sins have vanished. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੀਰ! ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ l
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਤ ਰਸਨ ਬਖਾਨ ॥
raam naam nit rasan bakhaan.
The one who always utters God’s Name,
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਬਿਨਸੇ ਰੋਗ ਭਏ ਕਲਿਆਨ ॥੧॥
binsay rog bha-ay kali-aan. ||1||
all his afflictions vanish and peace prevails. ||1||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਨੰਦ ਹੀ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗੁਣ ਅਗਮ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥
paarbarahm gun agam beechaar.
The one who contemplates the virtues of the unfathomable supreme God,
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਮਿ ਹੈ ਨਿਸਤਾਰ ॥੨॥
saaDhoo sangam hai nistaar. ||2||
in the company of the saints, swims across the world-ocean of vices. ||2||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ-ਉਤਾਰਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਨੀਤ ॥
nirmal gun gaavhu nit neet.
Sing the glorious praises of God each and every day;
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹੋ।
ਗਈ ਬਿਆਧਿ ਉਬਰੇ ਜਨ ਮੀਤ ॥੩॥
ga-ee bi-aaDh ubray jan meet. ||3||
by doing so all afflictions vanish and God’s devotees remain free from vices. ||3||
(ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਰੇਕ) ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਰੋਗਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਮਨ ਬਚ ਕ੍ਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਧਿਆਈ ॥
man bach karam parabh apnaa Dhi-aa-ee.
I pray that I keep meditating on my God in my thoughts, words, and deeds.
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੪॥੧੦੨॥੧੭੧॥
naanak daas tayree sarnaa-ee. ||4||102||171||
O’ God, Your humble devotee Nanak has come to Your refuge. ||4||102||171||

O’ the divine Guru, one whom You illuminate with the divine wisdom,
ਹੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀਆਂ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ (ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ) ਚਾਨਣ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ,
ਭਰਮ ਗਏ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਈ ਸੇਵ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bharam ga-ay pooran bha-ee sayv. ||1|| rahaa-o.
his doubts get dispelled and his meditation of God becomes successful. ||1||Pause||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਹਮ (ਥਾਂ ਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਟਕਣ) ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ, ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਉਸ ਦੀ) ਸੇਵਾ ਸਿਰੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਗਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸੀਤਲਾ ਤੇ ਰਖਿਆ ਬਿਹਾਰੀ ॥ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
seetlaa tay rakhi-aa bihaaree.paarbarahm parabh kirpaa Dhaaree. ||1||
O’ God, one whom you illuminate with the divine wisdom, by your grace all his afflictions vanish.
ਹੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ! ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸੀਤਲਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਇਆ ਹੈ ( ॥੧॥
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੈ ਸੋ ਜੀਵੈ ॥
naanak naam japai so jeevai.
O’ Nanak, only the one who meditates on God’s Name, lives spiritually,
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵੈ ॥੨॥੧੦੩॥੧੭੨॥
saaDhsang har amrit peevai. ||2||103||172||
as he keeps partaking the ambrosial nectar of God’s Name in the company of the saints. ||2||103||172||
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਉਹ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੧੦੩॥੧੭੨॥

ਧਨੁ ਓਹੁ ਮਸਤਕੁ ਧਨੁ ਤੇਰੇ ਨੇਤ ॥
Dhan oh mastak Dhan tayray nayt.
O’ God, blessed is the forehead that bows before You and blessed are the eyes which see You everywhere.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮੱਥਾ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਨਿਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਧਨੁ ਓਇ ਭਗਤ ਜਿਨ ਤੁਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਹੇਤ ॥੧॥
Dhan o-ay bhagat jin tum sang hayt. ||1||
Blessed are the devotees who love You sincerely.||1||
ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਭਗਤ ਜਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੈਸੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਲਹੀਐ ॥
naam binaa kaisay sukh lahee-ai.
Without meditating on God’s Name, how can we attain peace?
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸੁਖ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਰਸਨਾ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਜਸੁ ਕਹੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
rasnaa raam naam jas kahee-ai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Therefore, we should recite the Name of God and sing His praises. ||1||Pause||
(ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸਦਾ) ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਤਿਨ ਊਪਰਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ॥
tin oopar jaa-ee-ai kurbaan.
We should dedicate ourselves to those,
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ (ਸਦਾ) ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੁ ॥੨॥੧੦੪॥੧੭੩॥
naanak jin japi-aa nirbaan. ||2||104||173||
O’ Nanak, who meditate on the immaculate God. ||2||104||173||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਸ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਵਾਸਨਾ-ਰਹਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੧੦੪॥੧੭੩॥

ਤੂੰਹੈ ਮਸਲਤਿ ਤੂੰਹੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
tooNhai maslat tooNhai naal.
O’ God, You are my advisor and You are always with me.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਮੇਰਾ) ਸਲਾਹਕਾਰ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਤੂਹੈ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਸਾਰਿ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥੧॥
toohai raakhahi saar samaal. ||1||
You are always aware of me and protect me in all situations. ||1||
ਤੂੰ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸਾਰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੧॥
ਐਸਾ ਰਾਮੁ ਦੀਨ ਦੁਨੀ ਸਹਾਈ ॥
aisaa raam deen dunee sahaa-ee.
God is such a supporter here and hereafter,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਸਾਥੀ ਹੈ l
ਦਾਸ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਰਖੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
daas kee paij rakhai mayray bhaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ my brother, that He protects the honor of His devotee. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੀਰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਆਗੈ ਆਪਿ ਇਹੁ ਥਾਨੁ ਵਸਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ ॥
aagai aap ih thaan vas jaa kai.
God, who controls this world is incharge of the next world as well.
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਡਾ ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਆਪ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ (ਸਾਡਾ ਰਾਖਾ) ਹੈ।
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਉ ਜਾਪੈ ॥੨॥
aath pahar man har ka-o jaapai. ||2||
Therefore at all times, my mind lovingly meditates on Him. ||2||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਤਾਂ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਿਰ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਪਤਿ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਸਚੁ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਫੁਰਮਾਨੁ ॥੩॥
pat parvaan sach neesaan.jaa ka-o aap karahi furmaan. ||3||
One to whom You issue Your Royal Command, receives the eternal stamp of Your approval and honor in Your court. ||3||
ਜਿਸ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੁਕਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ, ਰਾਹਦਾਰੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ॥੩॥
ਆਪੇ ਦਾਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਿ ॥
aapay daataa aap partipaal.
God Himself is the benefactor and Himself is the Cherisher of all beings.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਸਭ ਦੀ) ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥੪॥੧੦੫॥੧੭੪॥

O’ Nanak, always enshrine God’s Name in your heart. ||4||105||174||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਸਾਂਭ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ ॥੪॥੧੦੫॥੧੭੪॥

Raag Gauree, Fifth Guru:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਭਇਆ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ॥
satgur pooraa bha-i-aa kirpaal.
One to whom the perfect true Guru becomes merciful,
ਅਭੁੱਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸਿਆ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਪਾਲੁ ॥੧॥
hirdai vasi-aa sadaa gupaal. ||1||
the eternal God dwells in his heart forever. ||1||
ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਰੱਖਿਅਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਸਦਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਰਾਮੁ ਰਵਤ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
raam ravat sad hee sukh paa-i-aa.
By lovingly meditating on God’s Name, he attains peace;
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਿਆ ਹੈ,
