ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਚਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਕਹੈ ਕਹਾਇ ॥
satgur vich amrit naam hai amrit kahai kahaa-ay.
Within the true Guru is enshrined the ambrosial nectar of God’s Name; it is this ambrosial Name which he himself recites and makes others to recite.
(ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਗੁਰੂ (ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ) ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਆਪ ਇਹ) ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ (ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਪਾਸੋ) ਜਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੋੁ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥
gurmatee naam nirmalo nirmal naam Dhi-aa-ay.
This immaculate Naam is received through the Guru’s teachings, and one can lovingly remember God’s immaculate Name by following the Guru’s teachings.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਹ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ (ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਤਤੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
amrit banee tat hai gurmukh vasai man aa-ay.
The ambrosial word of the Guru is the true essence of spiritual life and it comes to reside in the heart by following the Guru’s teachings.
(ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਤੱਤ (ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਹੀ (ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਕਮਲੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਿਆ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
hirdai kamal pargaasi-aa jotee jot milaa-ay.
Within whom is enshrined the Guru’s word, the lotus of his heart blossoms and his soul remains merged with the Divine light.
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦਾ ਕੌਲ-ਫੁੱਲ ਖਿੜ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਦੀ) ਜਿੰਦ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਮੇਲਿਓਨੁ ਜਿਨ ਧੁਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗੁ ਲਿਖਾਇ ॥੨੫॥|
naanak satgur tin ka-o mayli-on jin Dhur mastak bhaag likhaa-ay. ||25||
O’ Nanak, God has united only those with the true Guru, who have been preordained with good destiny. ||25||
ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ (ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ (ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਧੁਰ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ (ਇਹ) ਚੰਗੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਲਿਖ ਦਿੱਤੀ ॥੨੫॥
ਅੰਦਰਿ ਤਿਸਨਾ ਅਗਿ ਹੈ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭੁਖ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
andar tisnaa ag hai manmukh bhukh na jaa-ay.
The fire of worldly desire is constantly burning within a self-willed person, and his hunger for Maya, the worldly riches and power, does not go away.
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਮੁਰੀਦ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ (ਅੱਗ ਬਲਦੀ) ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਭੁੱਖ (ਕਦੇ) ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।
ਮੋਹੁ ਕੁਟੰਬੁ ਸਭੁ ਕੂੜੁ ਹੈ ਕੂੜਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਲਪਟਾਇ ॥
moh kutamb sabh koorh hai koorh rahi-aa laptaa-ay.
The love for worldly expanse, family and everything else is unreal, but the self-willed person remains engrossed in this perishable world.
(ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਇਹ) ਮੋਹ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਪਸਾਰਾ ਹੈ, (ਇਹ) ਪਰਵਾਰ (ਭੀ) ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਪਸਾਰਾ ਹੈ, (ਪਰ ਮਨ ਦਾ ਮੁਰੀਦ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ) ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਪਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਚ (ਸਦਾ) ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਚਿੰਤਵੈ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਬਧਾ ਜਾਇ ॥
an-din chintaa chintvai chintaa baDhaa jaa-ay.
Every day he worries about worldly affairs and ultimately departs from the world bound with anxiety.
ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀਆਂ) ਸੋਚਾਂ ਸੋਚਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸੋਚਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਬੱਝਾ ਹੋਇਆ (ਹੀ ਜਗਤ ਤੋਂ) ਤੁਰ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੰਮਣੁ ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਚੁਕਈ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
jaman maran na chuk-ee ha-umai karam kamaa-ay.
Such a person performs deeds out of ego, and that is why his cycle of birth and death never ends.
ਹਉਮੈ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਹੀ (ਸਾਰੇ) ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤਾਹੀਏਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ (ਕਦੇ) ਮੁੱਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਉਬਰੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਇ ॥੨੬॥
gur sarnaa-ee ubrai naanak la-ay chhadaa-ay. ||26||
O’ Nanak, even he is saved from the bonds of worldly love through the Guru’s teachings; the Guru frees him from the worldly entanglements. ||26||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਉਹ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭੀ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਜਾਲ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਬਚ ਨਿਕਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ (ਇਸ ਮੋਹ-ਜਾਲ ਤੋਂ) ਛੁਡਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨੬॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਦਾ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਾਇ ॥
satgur purakh har Dhi-aa-idaa satsangat satgur bhaa-ay.
The sublime true Guru imbued with the divine love remembers God in the congregation of saintly persons.
ਗੁਰੂ ਮਹਾਪੁਰਖ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਦੇ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਾਇ ॥
satsangat satgur sayvday har maylay gur maylaa-ay.
Those who join the holy congregation and follow the Guru’s teachings, the Guru unites them with God.
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਗੁਰੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਏਹੁ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਨਾਮਿ ਤਰਾਇ ॥
ayhu bha-ojal jagat sansaar hai gur bohith naam taraa-ay.
This world is like a dreadful worldly ocean of vices, and the Guru is like a ship that ferries the devotees across by uniting them with God’s Name.
(ਉਞ ਤਾਂ) ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਇਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਇਕ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਗੁਰੂ-ਜਹਾਜ਼ (ਸਰਨ ਆਏ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ (ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਸਿਖੀ ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਰਿ ਲੰਘਾਇ ॥
gursikhee bhaanaa mani-aa gur pooraa paar langhaa-ay.
The Guru’s disciples who have accepted God’s will, the perfect Guru ferries them across the world ocean of vices.
(ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ) ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ) ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨ ਲਿਆ, ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਧੂੜਿ ਦੇਹਿ ਹਮ ਪਾਪੀ ਭੀ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਂਹਿ ॥
gursikhaaN kee har Dhoorh deh ham paapee bhee gat paaNhi.
O’ God, bless us with the humble service of the Guru’s disciples so that we, the sinners, may also attain the sublime spiritual state.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼, ਤਾ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਵਿਕਾਰੀ ਜੀਵ ਭੀ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਸਕੀਏ।
ਧੁਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਆਇ ॥
Dhur mastak har parabh likhi-aa gur naanak mili-aa aa-ay.
O’ Nanak, whom God has preordained such destiny, only that person meets with the Guru.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਧੁਰ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਐਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ,ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਆ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਮਕੰਕਰ ਮਾਰਿ ਬਿਦਾਰਿਅਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਇ ॥
jamkankar maar bidaari-an har dargeh la-ay chhadaa-ay.
The Guru’s teaching has slain the demon of vices, and it has saved him in the presence of God.
ਉਸ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਨੇ (ਸਾਰੇ) ਜਮਦੂਤ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਮੁਕਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ। (ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਖ਼ਰੂ ਕਰਾ ਦਿਤਾ।
ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾ ਨੋ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਤੁਠਾ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੨੭॥
gursikhaa no saabaas hai har tuthaa mayl milaa-ay. ||27||
The Guru’s disciples get respect here and hereafter because God in His pleasure unites them with Him by uniting them with the Guru. ||27||
ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਆਦਰ-ਸਤਕਾਰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨੭॥
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦਿੜਾਇਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥
gur poorai har naam dirhaa-i-aa jin vichahu bharam chukaa-i-aa.
That perfect Guru, who has firmly enshrined God’s Name in one’s heart and has removed his doubt from within,
ਜਿਸ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਦਾ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪੱਕਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ (ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ) ਨੇ (ਜੀਵ ਦੇ) ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਮੁਕਾਈ ਹੈ,
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਗਾਇ ਕਰਿ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਮਗੁ ਦੇਖਾਇਆ ॥
raam naam har keerat gaa-ay kar chaanan mag daykhaa-i-aa.
the perfect Guru has shown him the righteous path of life by remembering God’s Name, singing God’s praises, and spiritually enlightening him.
(ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ), ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਗਾ ਗਾ ਕੇ (ਸਰਨ ਆਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਚਾਨਣ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸਹੀ) ਰਸਤਾ (ਸਦਾ) ਵਿਖਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਏਕ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਇਆ ॥
ha-umai maar ayk liv laagee antar naam vasaa-i-aa.
By conquering ego, one who got attuned to God, has enshrined God’s Name within his heart.
ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਇਕ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਦੀ ਲਗਨ ਲੱਗ ਗਈ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਸਾ ਲਿਆ।
ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਜਮੁ ਜੋਹਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਸਚੈ ਨਾਇ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥
gurmatee jam johi na sakai sachai naa-ay samaa-i-aa.
Even the demon of death cannot scare him, because he lives by the Guru’s teachings and always remains absorbed in God’s Name.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਜਮਰਾਜ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵੱਲ ਤੱਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਕਰਤਾ ਜੋ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਨਾਇ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
sabh aapay aap vartai kartaa jo bhaavai so naa-ay laa-i-aa.
He believes that the Creator Himself is all-pervading; whoever is pleasing to God, He engages that person in remembering His Name.
(ਉਸਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਨਾਉ ਲਏ ਤਾਂ ਜੀਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਖਿਨੁ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਇਆ ॥੨੮॥
jan naanak naa-o la-ay taaN jeevai bin naavai khin mar jaa-i-aa. ||28||
Devotee Nanak feels spiritually alive when he recites God’s Name, and without remembering God’s Name, he suffers spiritual deterioration in an instant. ||28||
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ (ਭੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਤਾਂ ਜੀਵ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨੮॥
ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭੂਲੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਾਕਤ ਦੁਰਜਨਾ ॥
man antar ha-umai rog bharam bhoolay ha-umai saakat durjanaa.
Within the minds of the evil faithless cynics is the disease of egotism, and due to their ego and doubt, they go astray in life.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਟੁੱਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਦੁਰਾਚਾਰੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹਉਮੈ ਦਾ ਰੋਗ (ਸਦਾ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ), ਇਸ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਉਹ (ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ) ਗ਼ਲਤ ਰਸਤੇ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਵਾਇ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਾਧੂ ਸਜਣਾ ॥੨੯॥
naanak rog gavaa-ay mil satgur saaDhoo sajnaa. ||29||
O’ Nanak, even they can get rid of their ailment of ego by meeting and following the teachings of the saintly friend, the true Guru. ||29||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਭੀ ਸੱਜਣ ਸਾਧੂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਹਉਮੈ ਦਾ ਇਹ) ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨੯॥
ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਬੋਲੇ ॥
gurmatee har har bolay.
One who keeps reciting God’s Name by following the Guru’s teachings,
(ਜਿਹੜਾ ਜੀਵ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ (ਸਦਾ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਿ ਕਸਾਈ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰਾਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਚੋਲੇ ॥
har paraym kasaa-ee dinas raat har ratee har rang cholay.
he always remains pierced with God’s love, and imbued with God’s love, continues to rejoice in spiritual bliss.
ਉਹ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਖਿੱਚ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੇ ਨਾਮ) ਵਿਚ ਰੱਤਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ (ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-) ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ (ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ) ਮਾਣਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਜੈਸਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਲਭਈ ਸਭੁ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਜਗਤੁ ਮੈ ਟੋਲੇ ॥
har jaisaa purakh na labh-ee sabh daykhi-aa jagat mai tolay.
I have searched throughout the world, and I have not found any all-pervading master like God.
ਮੈਂ ਸਾਰਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਭਾਲ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਰਗਾ ਖਸਮ (ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਥਾਂ) ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਦਾ।
ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦਿੜਾਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਅਨਤ ਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਡੋਲੇ ॥
gur satgur naam dirhaa-i-aa man anat na kaahoo dolay.
Within whom the true Guru has firmly enshrined God’s Name, his mind doesn’t waiver in any other direction.
ਗੁਰੂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, (ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਮਨ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਹੋਰ ਪਾਸੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਡੋਲਦਾ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਦਾਸੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਗੁਲ ਗੋਲੇ ॥੩੦॥
jan naanak har kaa daas hai gur satgur kay gul golay. ||30||
Devotee Nanak is devoted to God, and humbly serves the servants of the devotees of the true Guru. ||30||
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ (ਭੀ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਹੈ ॥੩੦॥
